Shawn P. B. Robinson hails from the Great White North, and he suspects his dislike of cold and snow is part of what drives him to immerse himself in other worlds. Whether he’s writing epic fantasy or middle-grade humor, he passionately pours his heart into his writing, seeking to create characters that we can all relate to and stories that engage the heart and soul.

In Shawn’s early 40s, he contracted a viral infection in his brain (encephalitis) which left him unable to work a normal job, but able to write when he has energy. In the midst of such loss, Shawn’s family, faith, and writing have brought joy to his heart and continue to motivate him.

Shawn continues to make his home in SW Ontario with his beautiful wife, two sons, and three goldfish.

A great collection of three stories with ADA the novella to start it all off.
There is plenty of action and intrigue in the ADA stories, while the other two go in a more horror fantasy vibe. Characters are well thought out, with the writing exploring how they think in their stories.

I'm excited to share these stories! The main story (ADA) is my favourite of the three. It's the kind of sci-fi I love, with loads of action, twists and... robots!!!

Have fun!

ADA : An Anthology of Short Stories includes 3 short stories that are easily and quickly read. The volume as a whole comes off, however, as rather disappointing compared to its cover synopsis.

ADA, the longest and first short story in the Anthology was quite interesting and rather promising. I would encourage the author to explore it further and develop it into a standalone Sci-Fi novel. The plot twists and highly dynamic atmosphere make it appealing. This particular story is worthy of a 3-star rating.

EYES IN THE GARDEN and TAP, the other two stories of the Anthology, are closer to the horror genre than science fiction. They resemble drafts and not full stories, as if the author did not take the time to complete the single lines of thought. The characters and story lines lack depth and meaning, in my opinion.

EYES IN THE GARDEN directed me to a senseless and repetitive realm of zombies, while TAP seemed a pointless account, like an unclarified dream that one might remember after an agitated night's sleep. Their strength lies in the author's skill in conveying fear and uneasiness.

This collection of short stories was a quick read. The first story, ADA, was more of a novella, laid the groundwork for future stories and introduced some key characters. It was a solid introduction but left a few loose ends.

Eyes in the Garden was very simple. I would have liked more character development.

Tap felt more like a rehash of classic horror movie tropes and again, would benefit from more development.

Great Short Story!
I think if you like the older style of Sci-Fi you'll enjoy ADA. I generally read longer books but I do find that it's nice to read short stories every once in a while and I really enjoyed Robinson's style of writing. There's intrigue and surprises in all the stories which I LOVE because I usually try to figure out the ending as I'm reading and I was genuinely surprised with some of the twists and turns in these short stories!

So, my copy was still labeled "an anthology," but it only included ADA (which, as I don't read horror, was not a problem for me). As for this story, though, it was fascinating to uncover the layers of lies and plots along with the main character. There was one aspect of the story that was a little creepy, but the action and threats kept me moving well enough not to let me bog down in a philosophical spiral. Overall, an interesting story that I really enjoyed.
