This book delivers a simple way to look at yourself as a parent and your family. This will help you find out your family's strengths, and then you can build a roadmap on those strengths so you all can be strong together. If you can agree upon that foundation of powers between the parents, you can allow your children to have their own individuality and strengths. This is a simple way to look at everyone as an individual and build the value of a family together.

There is a whole section on how we enter into parenting with preconceived experiences and notions from our past. To be good parents, we must acknowledge our issues and deal with our baggage before parenting our kids effectively. We have to take inventory and know ourselves as people. This means recognizing and understanding problems, which will help prevent us from repeating patterns we don't want to repeat.

Pretty good, very common sense. I could have used more examples and application through chapters 7-10. My takeaways will be consistency, family dinners, role modeling, humour, and active listening.
