A shattered empire, but a leader rises to lead them back to their former glory. His issues are many and he has the resources if he's willing to use them. Personnel is his greatest issue so will he turn to those many believe too young to do the job? He will and they will get some of the hardest missions he has.
A junior fleet was started using the best and the brightest pulled from their officer academy.
Micar has been assigned to be the first captain in this junior fleet. They will be tested with a trip to see if those so young could even manage to pull this off. They carried cargo, passengers, and possibly a secret that others wanted to steal. Was it really on board or was it a trick to call attention to them instead of the ship that truly carried it?
Does it really matter when a target is painted on them that causes everyone to hunt them down?
Come along and see if these ten teenagers can take on so much responsibility successfully.

Micar and his chosen officers prove that they are capable of safely operating a spaceship on mission

The worlds of the galaxies are filled with conflicts for power, wealth, and freedom. Life is a challenge for everyone, but especially when the ship's Captain is only 18, and his crew between 14 and 17, which limits opportunities for experience. Yet with the best crew possible and a complicated mission, the secrecy of some of the cargo attracts pirates and questions.

Is the secret cargo really on board? Is the ship just a diversion from the real cargo carrier? Is this a test to analyze the crew for future missions?

This is a good book with good characters and plot line. There are frequent editing errors that make it a bit difficult to understand in places due to the wrong words used, incorrect tense for verbs, word sequence errors, and obvious spell check confusion or word sequence editing errors. It is still possible to follow the story, but distracting.

The characters were good, but could be more thoroughly developed. Portions of the story background information and scene settings were too brief. It made the story feel incomplete as if magic happened. I realize that this book was aimed at a much younger age than I am, but that does not mean that it should be without development of the situation and characters. The Captain was too slow at checking out his full crew, especially since he did not meet most of them until after the mission began. Then it was almost too late. But that may be a glimpse to future adventures and missions.

Not my cuppa, but die hard Star Trek fans might like this

An offshoot novella to the author’s Mating Games series (on a planet where there are 9 males to 1 female), but the novella itself is not RH.

18yo Micar is promoted to captain of spaceship Odyssey and his crew - made up of 14-18yolds - is given a military mission: transporting sth they can’t even identify and carry passengers they don’t know. Not my cuppa - too much telling, too little showing; also from half-way in (on page 32) it turned from a dual POV story to a triple POV one and not all povs were commenting on the same thing either. The dialogue & story picked up a bit when the space pirates arrived. I found it hilarious that the ending resembled Mission Impossible 3 (with the Rabbit’s Foot).

Diehard Star Trek fans might like this.

as the saga continues

Her books are always so much fun to read. Sometimes they’re not long, but they always have an adventure in them and it gets me out of my house for a little while. Thank you.

Micar

A crew of teens, the oldest 18 and the youngest 14. A mission that is benign but turns deadly! Fantastic story that is enthralling!!
