It didn’t start with fire and blood.
It started with a corpse, cooling and whitening on the lawn.
It started with knowing I could love him anywhere, even in the land without memory.

* * *

Three years have passed since the events in Aplin Hollow and Mallory has moved on with her life. She’s happily settled at university while Dominic ensures her safety. But her nights are plagued by a dream that seems more a memory and, when someone unexpected turns up from her past, she has no choice but to return to the world she so desperately ran from.
She learns that a new force threatens angeleru and dragoviks alike. Unable to leave her friends behind again, Mallory is once again cast into battle, fighting to preserve the very society that allowed for her traumatic childhood. And, as Mallory will discover, her past may have even more bearing on her future than she could ever have imagined.

Review 4.5 stars!

Pale Flame is the second instalment in the Fire of the Blood series (don't forget to check out my review of book 1!)

This is a dark fantasy series with dragon shifters, an intriguing plot full of twists, multiple point of views, chosen one and found family tropes (I just looove found family tropes!) that will keep you hooked!

I rarely ever enjoy a sequel more than the first book but that was entirely the case with Pale Flame.

I witnessed once again one of my favorite elements of book 1: the authors captivating writing style, which is even more developed and beautiful in Pale Flame! You can clearly tell that the author has put in a lot of work and time into this series. My favorite genre is fantasy with romance and I was excited to see that the romance is further explored in this sequel with a slow burn that kept me on the edge of my seat. 🔥

Cant wait to get my hands on the next book! Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy for review.

PALE FLAME is the second book in the Fire of the Blood series. Read my review of Fire of the Blood.

It’s a good day indeed when a sequel lives up to its predecessor, and that’s definitely the case with Pale Flame. This installment had as much epic action and mystery as Fire of the Blood, and yet the stakes felt so much higher. Plot twists and heartbreak were never too far away! If you’re a fan of fantasy stories rich with mythology, a good chosen one trope, gods, angels and dragons, I cannot recommend this series enough!

As much as I enjoyed getting to see familiar faces again (like my sweet Kyle and my boy Aaron…), my favorite thing about this book was the expansion of the cast. We get to meet some very interesting characters this time around, and we also get quality time with characters we haven’t seen much of in the first book. I loved the deeper insight on Mallory’s past and her relationship with her brother Isabrand, and very much enjoyed the prominent role Killian played in this book. Very much enjoyed it. The kind of enjoyment that makes him a favorite character of the series for me.

Speaking of…another thing I really enjoyed was the romance! It was probably one of the biggest surprises for me given how little space it had in the previous book, and while it continues not to be a main focus, I definitely enjoyed the addition. You know me, I’ll never refuse a romance. Especially one as teased and well-paced as this one! If you like fated lovers, slow burns and a spicy payoff, you’re definitely going to enjoy it as much as I did.

And now the wait for the next installment begins, and it will be hard. Jasmina Coric is such a pro at creating cliffhangers that make my jaw drop to the floor!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

I recently binged books one and two of this series and found myself loving the atmosphere and characters the author creates. I love the supernatural elements and plot twists this book gives me. Readers will enjoy the fast pace nature, chosen one and found family tropes, as well as the budding romance.

Definitely a book you need to add to your collection.

Pale Flame is a unique epic fantasy featuring dragons, angels, and witches with a ton of crazy plot twists and revelations along the way! If you’re a fan of found family, chosen one, multiple love interests, and spice, I def recommend you give this series a try! The book ends on a cliffhanger, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’ll be dying for book three!

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

That feeling when the sequel lives up to your expectations!

Pale Flame is the second book in the Fire of the Blood series. ( Fire of the Blood is also the title of book 1.) Having binged the first book before diving into the second one, I was pleased by the story’s continuous flow between the two books. I nonetheless appreciated the ample reminders the author added for the events of the first book, which is something that will help returning readers get back into the story easily, but also keeps details sharp and in the forefront of your mind while binge-reading.

As much as I enjoyed all the action, my favorite aspect of this story were the new relationships we got to see in detail, especially Mallory and Isabrand’s sibling bond and her relationship with Killian, who is hands down my favorite love interest Mallory has had in the series! Every scene with Killian had my undivided attention. Their slow burn romance was delicious, and I loved his protective, sweet side in the streets, and his more dominant side in the sheets. *cheeky smile*. I did, however, also enjoy the increased intrigue of the plot, and all the plot twists that led up to the devastating cliffhanger. The wait for the third book is going to be hard!

I had been waiting for this sequel since I finished the first book. I am obsessed with Dragons and all the magic! If you're a fan of all things chosen one trope and myths than this is for you.

Hello Romance! yes my heart, I loved the slow burn... I cannot wait to see much more. Killian has me completely, I loved the development. His shielding ways were swooning, I cant wait to see them have more interaction. We get a glimpse of where relationships are heading and also a taste of what might be a full on sext time soon!

I was super excited to dive into this one, once I again I met with the wonderful crew. And can we talk about the origin depth we encounter in this sequel regarding Mallory. I am a huge sucker for past stories and the author gave us that. The development between the siblings gave me life, I feel like this gave Mallory a sense of being and wanted. Super important in her development!

Cannot wait for the next book in line. Huge thanks to Jasmina for sending me a copy of her book. If you love a fantasy book with action and cinnamon roles this is for you!

THAT ENDING 🥲🥲🥲 shut up I am very upset rn.

Everything hurts hahaha, how dare you Jasmina.

Pale Flame was even better than Fire of the Blood - the magic and action and mystery continues, but on top of it all… we get a little bit of *spice* 🤌🏼😈

This book is definitely dark and filled with betrayal and heartbreak, but the found family and banter between them all provides much needed light.

Killian, my baby. This man is so tortured and beautiful and I just want to protect him. 🫠 Mallory is so strong and brave, she deserves all the good in the world. They have all been through so much, I need them to have their happiness 😭

I will say sometimes the poetic writing/prose felt like it didn’t match the story. The almost lyrical writing style at times took me out of the plot.

All in all, another epic book in Mallory’s journey! That cliffhanger has me hungering for the next.
