All Trades, Inc. had cemented itself as the biggest and best business around. If you wanted armor, weapons, potions, or anything else you might possibly need on an adventure, nobody did it better. Unfortunately, a company in the real world took notice and decided they wanted what Jack had. When he said no, things turned ugly.
He might have saved Des while also killing another demon lord and a monster capable of single handedly wiping out the human capital, but All Trades HQ is a pile of ashes and Zen, Jack's longtime spirit companion, is dead and unable to return from the Spirit Realm. Fortunately, there's a chance to save him. All he has to do is travel between continents, something no player has yet to accomplish, then establish himself in a potentially hostile territory and find a place no living person has ever found. There is one bright side to this whole thing, though: the company that cost him so much has put down roots in the very same place Jack has to travel to. Good thing there's no export tax on revenge, eh?
Welcome back to the world of Jack Alltrades, as we explore life's greatest mysteries:
How do you read in the library if the lights are off?
What's the dirtiest joke you've heard?
And can a man learn guitar without playing it at a party?
Second, this is kind of a fast forward version. The narrative seems to skip all the ‘boring’ parts to get to the fight as fast as possible. Not a terrible attribute, but it is a bit overdone this time.
Third, while I don’t *hate* the old pop culture references…they’re not always as clever as they were intended to be.
Honestly, I’m not sure about this. I think I enjoyed the first three books because I read them very sequentially. The large break between books 3 and four somehow muted my love for the concept. And it’s really the concept behind the series more than the characters that keeps me coming back.
I’m not sure I will continue following the series. I likely will, but I’m hoping for a bit more depth to the narrative.
Book 4 is a step above the rest of the books so far in everything except maybe the proofreading on Kindle.
Pros: Great world-building. New (and even better!) characters. Views into existing characters and more interactions outside of the game with a surprise ending.
Revenge!
Cons: The story can move a bit fast at times, skipping over parts that could be further explored, like the spirit realm. Not many (But many more than in the previous books) interactions outside of the game. Grammar and proofreading errors are more prevalent, unlike the last stories. Some misused words, weirdly cut-off sentences, etc.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this series for people who enjoy DND-type games portrayed in books. I might not recommend it as an entry-level series due to some of the references and terms used. Anybody who likes the genre will enjoy this series though.
I like the story but this portion felt awkward, as if it had been rushed out at the last minute. There are many instances of stilted dialogue that would benefit from a thorough editor’s review. For example:
“It would give us to prepare our traps and get all the pieces into the right places before the clash began.”
My hope is that an editor will help with the overall flow, and reduce the disjointed impression that formed early in the book.
The author has done an excellent job of maintaining the quality of each nook in this series. Usually there is a significant drop off in at least one book in the series as it progresses. While I do enjoy some of the books more than others it’s not because of the quality of the writing. I just enjoy some storylines more than others. I will continue to read this series as new books come out and you should too.
I love the all trades series. It's got fun characters, some business, some leveling, some adventure, but not so much of any particular thing to overwhelm. I also liked the bit at the end of this book that hinted at Nik's real life. I am looking forward to book 5.
I really enjoy this series and wanted to rank this higher, but all the missing words made it impossible. The story is still good, and it is readable, but the editing was terrible.
If the author is to go back and fix the mistakes. I could possibly go back and change my rating but until that happens, I can’t give those more than a three out of 10.
This story of a guy playing a game as a Jack of All trades was awesome. He starts a trading craft company and absolutely dominate his area. Another corporation tries to muscle in his business, so he goes overseas to take them out. Good Stuff
I have really enjoyed this series so far. There gave been no "OMG that was so stupid" moments. The MC continues to develop and overcome challenges. It's definitely worth the read.
An enjoyable audiobook. I like the happy go lucky storytelling and how the main character succeeds at everything he tries. Since the story seemed a bit accelerated, I was hoping the demon line would be resolved by the end, but I'll readily accept more work from Walker.

I’m glad that there is another book in the series, I really like this one. The characters are interesting and the plot is good. Hopefully another one will be out soon.
