There was so much more going on in this read then I expected! After enjoying some of this author's seasonal works, I knew I wanted to keep going with their backlist. And who can resist a vampire boss? While it did give us a little office romance, this did leaned way more towards the PNR/fantasy aspects outside of the office setting.

I lift my brow. “Monster.”
The demon bears its teeth, eyes glinting with dark humor. “No more than you, darling.”

Dante was entirely unexpected and so so welcome! His character was delicious and fun and I can't say I've read a demon change genitalia like that mid-session! I liked the history between Steric and Dante, and while Dante's character definitely added to this read, it actually is the reason why I could only rate this 4 stars - I can't believe they hadn't done anything about Dante being banished back to wherever by the time the book ended! I fully expected some kind of summoning etc right at the end to finish off the subplot of Dante sacrificing himself.

There’s a heavy pressure. A sharp prick.
Pure bliss.

The enemy plotline once Steric learned Alice's family name added another layer to this read that I don't even think I needed. This almost has the bones of some kind of lengthy, epic, boss/employee to lovers to enemies to lovers-type series spread over several books.

Steamy. Naughty. Hot. Delicious amount of vampire magic with the added bonus of a demon. Lots of play, consent, and control. I enjoyed this from the first page. Engaging plot, lovable characters. Love this book.

okay, wow. yall know i love kate Mcdarris. she makes the cutest little books ever and has the sweetest couples.
so when i started this book, i was thinking, "Oh! It's gonna be just like the others, and im gonna be so happy and joyful!"
and i was wrong.
now, yes, while i was so happy and ate this book up, it also hurt my soul.
this book was so so so good and ngl. i think it might be my favorite plot wise of her books. this had so much depth to it, and that plot twist was wow. amazing.
you guys know my war with FMCs, and how 8 times out of 10, i hate them, but this was different. i actually really loved this one, though! she was so strong and not in the awkward way! i truly think all these characters were perfect, which ngl i think is true of all her characters she creates.
steric and alice are so perfect together that i couldn't be happier for them. i love them sm.
i will be grieving the end of this book since i loved it sm. i really wish there was more cause it feels like i just haven't had enough yet, but still. im just so happy with what we got.
this book blew my mind, and i am so happy i read it, and now i can't wait to read more.

Okay, the sex was so fun🌶🌶🌶 - been a while since I've done a doubtl take on some of those scenes. Defintily wasn't disappointed. & it just makes it so much more because of the vamp! Wooha! Nice!

Okay, wasn't expecting Dante, the demon. That was an interesting twist to Alice & Steric's happy happy fun time, but even w/all the teasing & fun time, I would have liked it to remain between her & stearic. I really liked his "min" possessive trait & wished it had held instead of sharing. Though, I've a feeling it was for only that one time but still.

This was a fun and quick read. I'd definitely like to see more of this world in the future, especially a return of Dante. Alice and Steric had great chemistry and I love that while he is overprotective, she can clearly take care of herself. Very spicy and looking forward to more from this author.

steamy novella

You’re getting exactly what is advertised, a short and steamy novella. The author is right to the point so don’t expect a lot of in depth character or plot building, but the story moves along seamlessly and the spicy scenes don’t disappoint.

The sex scenes felt bland and rushed. I was hoping that there would be some buildup to her finding out that he was a vampire but alas. I like the premise of the book but the characters needed to be fleshed out some more
