Rate this book
They aren't looking to rebuild a love from the past, but this renovation uncovers more than either of them expected.

Valerie Ricci is determined to nail together the pieces of her career after a messy divorce from her husband and renovation show co-host. Things are looking up when she lands her own fixer-upper reality TV show where she will design & renovate old homes across the country. It's her chance to prove to everyone she can do it herself. Except the first house she must renovate is Evan Weston's—the man who broke her heart two decades ago.

Evan Weston loves small town life, quiet evenings with his horses, and Sunday dinners with his close-knit family. He's worked hard to make a comfortable life for himself and his seventeen-year old daughter, Issy—who he’d do anything for. Which is why he’s so conflicted when Issy surprises him… with a camera crew and an ex-girlfriend he hasn’t seen in nearly two decades.

No one else has any idea Val and Evan dated, and they plan to keep it that way.

But as they tear down the walls of his old farmhouse, they can't help but uncover new layers of their shared history. Will they build a new connection on an old foundation, or is this one restoration that isn't built for a second chance?

Welcome to Maple Bay, a small town with heaps of heart—where family dinner is a must, and someone will always leave the light on for you.

Valerie and Evan were young and in love. Got engaged but before they could tell anyone, she broke it off because they had different goals for their lives. College in different states. They were both devastated. Evan had a life changing medical issue in his life which changed his plans. His life turned around, he was angry, hurt and devastated. He got married, but I think he knew he didn't really love her. They had a child together who he loved with all his heart.

Valerie went on, thinking that Evan didn't want to see her and got married and was in TV doing a show with her husband. He turned out to be a self-centered jerk and cheated on her and then made it look like their split and cancellation of their show was her fault. She kept on pushing trying to do what she thought was her life-long dream.

She was assigned to do a house remodel for a father and his daughter who won a contest. She gets there and who is the father, but Evan. They were both surprised. She did her job, but couldn't stop her feelings from happening and neither could he even though they were both afraid of getting hurt again.

This was such a heartwarming story that drew you into their lives. All the feels of a second chance romance came back real strong. Wonderful story! I couldn't put it down, & stayed up way too late reading it.

Matched in Maple Bay is the second chance love story of Val and Evan. They met when he was a senior in college in Minnesota and she was on an arts scholarship in Nebraska. Their long distance love went well enough for Evan to propose and Val to accept. Two days later she called it off and broke his heart. He soon met Tracy and married her and they had Issie. They bought the home that Evan and Issie lived in just before Issie was born and the marriage between Evan and Tracy broke up.

Issie and Joyce sent in essays asking for the home that Evan owned be considered for the complete makeover by the HomeTV show that Val was the spokeswoman for. The other show she had been on with her now ex husband Ryker called LA Renovations had been Issie and Joyce's favorite show until it had been cancelled after their very public breakup and divorce. HomeTV had given Ryker a tv show before they had offered Val this pilot show to see if HomeTV would pick up the series. None of the family except Jesse knew about Val due to her married name. But the filming of this show had given Evan and Val time to renew their love for each other. It also showed her what plans they had for her on HomeTV which made her choice easier to make.

Valerie Ricci is trying to get her life together after her divorce from her husband and co-host and getting their home renovation show canceled. She wants to prove that she can do it own her own. She gets an offer to do a renovation for a single dad. When Val sees a picture of the single father, Evan Weston, she’s shocked that it’s her ex fiancé? She can do this. Let the past stay in the past. Just because he broke her heart two decades ago, she needs this to work. What will Evan think when he sees her? Will the show go on? These two will have to work together. Can they? Evan loves his small town and the people in it. He enjoys working his ranch and taking care of his horses. Loves Sunday night dinners with his family. Life is good. So when he sees cameras, a crew and Val, he’s shocked. But since Evan doesn’t want to disappoint his daughter, Izzy he says yes. She gets to help with Val on Decorating. It makes Izzy happy. That’s all that matters. So as they spend time together, their feelings start to break down the walls around their hearts. Val starts to wonder if this is the career path she wants. Maple Bay is quiet, peaceful and tranquil. What will Val do? Will she walk away after it’s completed? Will he let her go again? Both have trust issues. Can the two finally let the past go and move forward with their lives? The characters are wonderful. They deserve a second chance at love. Worth the read. I loved it. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

Valerie worked for a home improvement network. Her career came tumbling down when she freaked out on air with her then husband. She is now trying to make a come back. She will be redoing a home of a viewer.
Evan is a rancher and single dad. He didn't realize that his mom and daughter had submitted his house for a remodel.
Evan and Valerie have a history. One that she walked away from 20+years ago. Now they are face to face again.
This is a sweet second chance romance that gives these two people an opportunity to settle old feelings. But they both soon realize that those feelings didn't really die. As they explore their feelings for each other, they try to see if it's possible for another chance.
This is a good feel good story

Matched in Maple Bay is the best second chance at love romance I have read in quite some time! The author does a fantastic job of allowing the chemistry between Val and Evan, the two main characters, to rekindle in a very authentic way while producing heart tugging, swoon-worthy moments. I especially enjoy how Brittney Joy incorporates real-life issues for “40-something’s” into this story, such as failed prior marriages, workaholism and the ability to know your self-worth. The beloved characters of the Weston family also do their part to draw you into their sweet small town of Maple Bay where everyone feels like family. I could not put this book down and highly recommend it!

This is a clean, sweet romance. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Val is trying to save her career that crashed when she and her ex-husband got a divorce. An incident put her in a bad light. She decides to pitch an idea about home renovation to her old station but they have a different idea. She helps out being the host of a renovation show where someone has won a renovation. She realizes it’s her ex-boyfriend from college. She still chooses to do it. What happens between Val and Evan? You’ll have to read to find out.

The characters are fun and the storyline is great. It’s an easy read. You won’t want to put it down as you get wrapped up in the story and it’s characters.

Hallmark cuteness with that extra Brittany Joy splash or personality and talent. Each story gets better and better. I loved this one so much and felt connected to each character as the story progressed. Evan and Val have such amazing chemistry, they feel like a family already (conflict included). The story is smooth and sweet just like a hot fresh small town pie. You'll be wanting more and more, when though it's just the right amount. So dig in, and enjoy this AMAZING book by Brittany Joy.

From the first word until the last one this book had me hooked on immediately, what a sweet story of second chances in love and proving for Evan and Valerie that the second time for their love was the right time, that had they stayed as a couple so many years ago they wouldn't have lasted, but this time around was the right one.
I loved the small time setting and the descriptions of the house, the barn and the store, and especially the ice cream scene.
Reading books by Brittney Joy is transporting yourself to a place that feels familiar with characters that feel like long friends.

A second chance at love. Val and Evan were in love when they were younger. She broke it off, as their paths were heading different directions.
Now in Maple Bay to do a home renovation Val finds the house belongs to Evan. Can they move on from past hurts?
Wonderful heartwarming story. Second chance at love?

Matched in Maple Bay is a clean, heartwarming, swoony, second chance romance. It is a pleasure to be back in the charming town of Maple Bay. Ms. Joy's books remind me of Hallmark movies. This well written romance was a delight from beginning to end. (I stayed up way too late reaching the end since I could not put it down!) I loved watching Val and Evan realize they are still in love. The story develops very naturally. Val's ex-husband was a jerk so there is even a semi villain to hate! You do not want to miss this delightful book.

Wow!!! What a great book and story. Everybody can relate to the heartbreak Valerie has gone through in the past, and having to work with an ex is never easy. However, both her and Evan manage to overcome the obstacles. I don't want to ruin the ending for you, so you'll definitely have to read this one to see what happens! Another great one by Brittney Joy!

Valerie Ricci was struggling to pump new life back into a career ripped away from her by her ex when their marriage dissolved. When the home show had been canceled she was the only one cast aside. Telling her future opportunities would arise. Yet, here she was walking into a meeting with all the bigwigs. She along with her friend and producer Nina Banks conceived, researched, and devised a sellable show worth doing. Only when she gets to the conference room Nina looks angry and says, “Tom isn’t coming for our presentation.” “What?” Valerie’s stomach dropped. Tom Schmitt was the Executive Vice President of Programming for HomeTV.

He was the final decision-maker on all new projects. “Should we reschedule?” “He wants to go in a different direction.” Feeling vulnerable she asks Nina if it's her that Tom has a problem with? No, it's because he found work for Nina and now her ex. However, Nina tells her that Tom wants her to get her help on a project that he had slotted for someone else. However, she is going into rehab for six to eight weeks maybe more. The show is due to start filming in a week, and they need someone they can trust to do the show.

This could be her foot in the door. An opportunity to get back on camera and prove she could headline a show—without her ex-husband. “Where are we going? I need to know what to pack.” “We’re headed to this adorable town in northern Minnesota, and the family chosen for the pilot is beyond perfect. They are small-town America at its finest. Sweet as apple pie. The house is a gorgeous Victorian farmhouse. Great bones, but in need of major updates.” “A Victorian farmhouse?”

When getting the rundown on the job and who the family was and how they were chosen she can’t wait. The daughter wants it for her dad because he always took care of her and had always planned on fixing up the house but as a single dad, running a ranch, and business it's not easy. Her grandma’s letter said that if it were fixed up he would have more time and could look for a wife. Valerie said she couldn't imagine why Issy’s dad would have any trouble finding a wife. Look at this guy, he could give Brad Pitt a run for his money. When Nina pulled out his picture she nearly forgot to breathe her next breath.

“Is that—?” A hand flew to her heart. “Val, are you okay?” “Is that Evan Weston?” Valerie set both hands on the table, steadying herself. Her power suit suddenly felt like a straitjacket. “Uh, yes. That’s his name. How’d you know that?” Evan Weston. Her college sweetheart. A man she hadn’t spoken to in almost twenty years. The one who had obliterated her heart. “Was it a bad breakup?” Nina asked. Did any breakup end well? “We were young,” she replied. “It was a long time ago.”

I would think, it would depend on if you were the dumpy, or you were the dumper. Let's just say it didn't go as smoothly as she had hoped. And it brought up old feelings Evan would have liked not to have brought back up. But the humor that happens with the daughter and his mother and siblings makes this romance so worth it.

I'm a sucker for second chance stories and this one hits all the right notes for me! I especially liked it because Valerie and Evan weren't expecting to see each other again. After all, it's been 20 years since they were engaged for a couple days and things didn't work out but neither one of them forgot the other! However, they each moved on with their lives and tucked away the memories of their time together. When Valerie becomes a TV renovation star and then has a very public breakup with her ex-husband, she is forced to work on another reality renovation show and it just so happens to be on Evan's Victorian home in Maple Bay. Evan is shocked when he opens his door and there stands a TV crew and Valerie, his long-lost college girlfriend! His teenage daughter and mother set all this up without his knowledge AND they don't even know Valerie! As Evan and Val spend more time together, they see how they are different, but their love has remained the same. I loved Evan's daughter and his extended family! What treasures they were! I also enjoyed the changes in Valerie as she fell for Evan again, grew to love Maple Bay and changed her focus!

Matched in Maple Bay ~Sweet Small Town Cowboy Romance #4 by Brittney Joy.
I loved this book from Britteny, I have been following this series from the very beginning and I can confirm they are all wonderful sweet clean romances.
Here we have Valarie and Even story, can a second chance work? Both fell in love back when they went to college and got engaged, but then Val broke it off.
They met again, approx 20 years later, when Val comes to Maple Bay to work on a house that was picked for a makeover for her new TV show.
Will their past get in the way? Will they still have the chemistry they once had? Will they finally get to have their HEA?
Matached in Maple Bay is a brilliant story from Brittney, that has been written perfectly with wonderful characters that you fall in love with right from the beginning. You feel at home when reading this book, and you also feel that you are there with them at every step.
I highly recommend this book to all. I look forward to reading more from this fabulous series.

Val and Evan were once engaged…20 years ago. When their paths cross again as Val shows up to host a tv show at Evan’s house, their feelings ignite again.

I loved this second chance story where no one holds resentment and they each allow themselves to love again after past heartbreaks. Both from their own last relationship as well as their divorces.

Evans’s daughter Issy is super sweet, his mom’s cooking had my mouth watering and his dog Skippy had me laughing out loud with all the commotion he causes.

The Maple Bay Leaf series is full of sweet, clean romances and this one is no different! I love every book in this series.

4.5 STARS - ROUNDED UP

What an enjoyable read. I am now following this author because I liked her writing style and how she weaves a story.

This is about 2nd chances after 20 years later from breaking up. Great main and secondary characters written with depth. This is a standalone story but if you're like me, you will want to start at the beginning of the series.

Clean story with romance building slowly. My only complaint I wanted to witness the ending with the h's ex and boss. Also, I wanted the h to inform everyone what her ex did to her.

No cheating for our MC, no cliffhanger, HEA, romantic, great dialogue and banter, some funny moments and clean. I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbit to decide whether to purchase, which I do recommend. (ljb)

Valerie and Evan fell in love and got engaged but before they could tell their friends and family they broke up with and went to separate colleges but Evan had a medical problem and had to leave school and then he married someone who he knew he didn't love but they had a beautiful little girl that he would die for. Valerie met and fell in love with a douche bag that cheated on her and got their tv show cancelled and blamed her for everything but she perceived and found a job for a father and daughter and that is where she met Evan again. Evan and Valerie try not to fall in love again because of fear but when you know you know.

Evan doesn’t want but needs a home makeover. Valerie wants to remake her career by remodeling a house. She doesn't realize the project will include her college boyfriend. Evan and Valerie realize there are more opportunities for them to get to know each other again. Even though it has been two decades since they had seen each other, they found a way to connect again.
This is a beautiful story of remaking a future you want despite the past that “might have been”. I appreciate the clean writing. It is well-written, and I recommend it to everyone that loves a HEA clean romance.

This was a very romantic story as Val and Evan had a second chance at love.  I really liked the main characters and all that they had been through in the past.  Val was a strong woman finding her footing after a divorce and her show being cancelled.  I liked how her time in Maple Bay allowed her to truly figure out what she wanted and what was important to her.I also liked the chemistry between her and Evan.  I really enjoyed everything about this book.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

She is a TV host for a make-over show — he owns a ranch and a farm store
They dated in university — and he asked her to marry him, But it fell apart. Now she is doing a makeover of his home — not knowing this is his home. When they realize they know each other, life gets VERY interesting. Terrific book!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

I was hooked from the first chapter, absolute loved this wonderful book. This was a beautiful story that melted my heart. I like it that Evan and Valerie saw each other every day, and not just at the end of the book. Evan is very protective of Valerie, a dream of a man, both Evan & Valerie are great people. So glad they got their second chance.
Brittney Joy did a great job in writing this beautiful book.

This is a second chance romance for Val & Evan. The characters are well written. Val & Evan had dated in college, but in the end went their separate ways. Now they are back together through a home makeover. It's a fun twist on how they get their second chance. I would have loved to see Nina put Ryker in his place. Great to be back in Maple Bay.

I've loved all the books in this series and this one is no exception. Brittney's characters are vivid, and her writing is engaging. I loved Evan and Valerie from the start and couldn't wait to see how they worked out the issues from their past and the obstacles keeping them apart in the present. This second chance sweet romance was heartwarming and fun, and I highly recommend it.
