Fresh from her divorce, photojournalist Arden Royce arrives in Hermosa Beach just in time for Memorial Day weekend when the Strand becomes party central. Her plan is simple: relax and enjoy herself before her final assignment.
The last thing she expects is to run into the boy she babysat one summer twenty years ago, and boy, is he all grown up. He also hasn't forgotten her, his first crush.
Sure, there's a huge age gap between them, but who cares when the attraction between them is off the charts?
**Originally published as Hudson in Hot Boy Summer: A Charity Anthology**
Arden is in need of a rest, travelling the world as a photojournalist she's covered some serious issues and is struggling with what she wants to do next. Staying at a friends house, she meets Hudson, the child she used to babysit 20 years ago. There's an instant attraction but Arden is concerned she's too old for him! Will the age difference work for them or against them? I love Liz Durano. Her books make me fall in love with reading time and again. The characters are addictive and make you want to be friends with them! I wait for the next book Liz writes
2.5 estrellas.
I had some time for a short read. I saw this and decided to go for it. The May/December romance is one that is so over done. I stopped reading them years ago. Occasionally I do see the reverse age gap. I adore the older woman / younger man troupe. I wished more authors wrote them. Even when they are with still in the 30's and 20's respectfully. Having them even older would have been even better!
I loved the dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the thoughts of both the main characters really help me to understand them and connect with them better. It makes for a more enjoyable read, at least for me.
This is a sexy read so there is just that word of caution.
If you also enjoy the older woman / younger man, you should give this a try. It doesn't take much time to read it either.
POV: dual hero and heroine. Plot: older woman (10years gap) reunited with a boy she used to babysit on a summer vacation, sparks fly, they lust each other and get dipped into falling in love. But she has a past filled of heartbreak and workload that might put a tamper in her search for a new path in life. Writing: fast paced, character are developed, no grammar issues, well edited. Conflict: the age gap weights on her at time, feels her past and experiences might not be exactly what Hero wants to deal with. Recommend: this is a stand alone book, reverse age gap with a HEA, strong, smart independent woman and an happy go lucky, smart, sure what wants in life Hero. What I dislike: My only issue was the repeating of “I was his babysitter” “he was only 8 years old”. This was very cringing to me. Would have love be more like he was 18 when she met him; and maybe 10 years later when they meet again.
I enjoy reading older women/younger men stories just because they are different from the constant barrage of older man/younger woman stories that have been published the last few years. It's refreshing when an author chooses to write about an older woman and younger man falling for each other. There seems to be a lot more stigma attached to the relationship. Many authors do bring that out. And usually it's the woman who is the victim of all the gossip. But this book was different. The author didn't dwell on the differences between the couple but on their similarities; on the things that made them click. It was a cute, sweet, romantic, quick read. I do recommend it.
4.5 🌟 stars I am glad Liz Durano introduced me to this athletic California couple. It's a dream of a set up with Arden, a successful 38 year-old photojournalist who's been through some trying times and is thinking hard about where she wants her future to lead, and the handsome younger man from her distant past who suddenly appears to sweep her off her feet. I only wish I had had more time with them in a longer story.
Liz brings in some characters from her previous works but this is easily read as a standalone.
I first read this story as part of a multi-author collection.
I love Liz Durano and I loved this quick read! Although I had trouble getting past the idea of Arden being with the boy she once babysat, their love story is cute. I wish this story was longer - We are left with a lot of questions and I really wanted more details. It seems like they get together and then, boom, the story ends. Despite that, this was a nice escape and I highly recommend it.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
I wasn't sure about this story when I read the blurb but I absolutely love this author so I gave it a try and I am so glad I did. I really liked Arden and Hudson and how their story evolved.
A really sweet romance story about an older lady and her younger man. She even babysat him when he was a kid the summer before her college. I enjoyed this one, but I do wish it was longer then novella length.
I really enjoyed this. I think there are not many books focus on the older female connecting with much younger partner. I have to say I loved how these two came back together and finding forever.
This book has been interesting and engaging story from start to finish and I have enjoyed reading every bit of it and although it is a short story it doesn't feel like it as it was exciting and great to read.
This reminded me a tiny bit of Lessons in Corruption, so needless to say I enjoyed it. The writing lacked a little imagery; sometimes it felt foggy or hard to place, but there's not much to dislike for how short it is.
