On her eighteenth birthday, Sloan Remson thought it would be just like any other day. She went to school, was excused early to get her driver’s permit, then was taken out for a nice lunch by her mother.
Waking up the next morning was an entirely different story. Shivering and in the middle of the clearing up the road and being warmed by a wolf should have scared Sloan stupid. Instead the beautiful snow-white wolf was calming and gave her peace.
Jump seven years into the future, and after several beers with her BFF Mary, once again Sloan finds herself alone in the middle of a clearing. But this time with the handsome Fletcher Remington watching over her. They were friends throughout school and she’d had a secret crush on him for as long as she could remember. Within a few minutes of catching up, secrets are revealed. After a quick mind-dive from Mary, who also happens to be a witch, Sloan finds out Fletcher is a wolf and that he is her mate.
How can Sloan be anyone’s mate when she can’t even shift into the one thing she should be able to? She is a supernatural dud who is in love with a snow-white wolf. Let the adventures begin.
Hello! I’m Jennifer Daniels, author of Fantasy/Romance novels. I was born and raised in Upstate, NY, and still reside there with my husband and son.
Writing was never on my radar until my son asked me to help him write a book. After helping him I decided to give it a try. That was when Opalla was born.
I love Harry Potter and the Hallmark channel, but I must confess I'm a huge paranormal junkie.
The author has written an amazing book that combines innocent young paranormals who have bonded before they grew up. This book contains mates, anger, awe, family, packs and love. It is alot of angst and feelings to deal with in one book. The storyline is totally enthralling and you will not want to finish but when you do you will want so much more. Character development is succinct and enticing. You will totally love the main characters but secondary characters are what bring the book to life. As Fletcher and Sloan mate and bond completely and find their new place in the pack their support system is strong and compelling that you will root for their success. This author understands and loves her character so much that you can find no fault in her books. I recommend her work and you will enjoy it.
I enjoyed reading about the wolf shifters Sloan and Fletcher. The story begins with the pair being in high school and being friends. On Sloan’s 18th birthday she sleepwalks between their two properties and wakes the next morning not knowing how she got there with a wolf watching over her. From this point on in the story there is unraveling of bits and pieces about Sloan and her family and her learning she is half witch half wolf shifter. Fast forward several years and Sloan has another incident of sleepwalking only this time she was not at her family’s home when it happens and she walked with Fletcher keeping watch over her. Their love story develops from here and is not without trials but is still a nice romance.
I enjoyed the half which half wolf sister storyline and enjoyed Sloan and Fletcher’s romance.
A sweet fated mates shifter story. It was cute and fast-paced. I enjoyed the sweet moments and loved how understanding Fletcher was. He was definitely kind-hearted and not aggressive. There were so great tropes found in here like fated mates, curvy FMC, sweet MMC, plus a bit of drama and wolf politics.
This author captives your interest from the very beginning to the end. That is saying a lot from me because this is NOT the kind of book genres I would usually read. It is a short book but I could not put it down until I reached the ending. Yes, I read it in one sitting. It is about witches and wolves and it is also about how love can be so strong that nothing else matters . Excellent book that everyone who likes happily ever after endings, with a twist of sadness and compassion to it would enjoy.
I've read several books by Jennifer and this book is my favorite... I was a bit confused by the title but when you read the book you know why......an amazing love affair by 2 people who are wolves and the new things that happen when they bond......I highly recommend this book ...Congratulations Jennifer on your new release...
One can really start questioning their self, especially when they sleepwalk and wake up in the clearing between the pines...with a wolf. However, the second time this happens, she wakes up with Fletcher watching over her. These two have been friends since they were little, but nothing ever came of it. Ultimately, the more these two are together, the stronger the pull is between the two. Between the Pines was a really sweet, YA/NA fated mates story that did have a sweet happily ever after. The relationship evolving between Sloan and Fletcher is very cute and the fact that they are learning with each other is super adorable. Chivalry is not dead, folks! I feel that some parts of the book were rushed and not enough explanation in some areas. There was a sort of restlessness that I felt waiting for some turbulence to happen that would really push our MC, but it wasn’t quite as grand as I expected. I wish it was a bit longer so that we could learn more about the other characters’ pasts and to possibly give the antagonist a bigger part. Overall, this was a cute read.
**********Spoiler Alert***************
There are a few things that I felt needed more explanation and the reason why I am giving this 4 stars, instead of 5. A lot of familial secrets are uncovered and Sloan finds out that her father is a wolf. This was kept from her for her entire life. I was a little confused by this because she knew of her mother and her BFF being witches, so I am not really sure why her father being a wolf, and a high-ranking wolf at that, was being kept from her. Sloan really just sort of “went with it”. She questioned things to herself but there were never any real explanations. So, the entire time I waited for something really crazy to happen so that this would eventually be uncovered, but it never did. Additionally, when Sloan and Fletcher bonded, it was discovered that they are the King and Queen of all the wolves. Things were then very rushed and I think some of the “meat and potatoes” of the story were missed.
We sometimes live our entire life without finding the one person that matches our soul. Fletcher and Sloan found each other as children. This book tells us some of their journey and epic love story. Wolves, Witches and Humans. Who could ask for more
This is the first time reading this author. The story was cute, the author built good characters and world, and the story was nice. The FMC grew up knowing about witches and that she was part one, but learned later on about shifters (wolves). Her mate (MMC) was the alpha of his pack and she didn't know he was a shifter even though they basically grew up together. There is some drama, romance, and meat to the story. The only thing I was was kind of missing was a more flowing or easy to the writing, it was a little stiff or felt clinical (for a better word) at times. Other than that it was really good and worth a read.
How often do you find that you knew your true mate/soul mate from when you were children? Sloan and Fletcher have a great chemistry, it's been that way since they were children plus when they met again as adults. I've always enjoyed reading Jennifer Daniels's book and the only different thing is that I love reading it more. There is so much much more to this story that makes me want to read it again just for the feelings that Sloan and Fletcher have for each other. I always find that J. Daniels books are wonderful but this one hits it out of the ball park. A MUST READ BOOK
This is the 1st book I have ever read by this author. I must say that I enjoyed it. The subtle romance during the beginning between Fletcher and Sloan is sweet. She knows that she's part witch but is surprised to learn that she's also half wolf. I wonder why her father kept that info about himself from her for 18 years.
This book is an interesting balance of adult content and sweet romance. I really liked the love story between these two and how they were friends first. There isn't much pack politics or information about the packs given but I think the family and friends dynamics is nice in the story. I would think this would be a great YA story except for the adult content.
Sloan can’t wait for her 18 birthday. She has a small day with her parents working at the vet clinic that she loves. When she goes to sleep that night she wakes up in the middle of the woods with a gorgeous white wolf keeping her warm. Sloan learns so much about her life , her family , and her destiny. This is very enjoyable HEA book that you will thoroughly enjoy.
Sloan wakes up outside the day after her 18th birthday with a white wolf keeping her warm. Seven years later she wakes up in the same clearing, but with her high school crush, Fletcher, protecting her. She discovers that he's a wolf and her mate.
What a good read. This book takes you on the journey of Sloan and Fletcher. This is not an instant love but one of finding who you are and what you are. Sloan is a complicated character. She knows she is a witch but only finds out she is also a wolf at 18. Secrets kept from her until she had to be told. Then the book jumps 7 years and again new secrets reviled. But Sloan takes it all in and accepts what is happening. Fletcher- to be the alpha of his pack he does not seem very alpha like. His character could have been a little more. Mary is wonderful I hope she gets her own story ! Loved the plot line and the HEA. It was a little wordy at times but that added to the story. Again good read.
