Guardian of the Fae

Rate this book
The realm of the fae has always been under the rule of the trustworthy and righteous Seelie fae. However, when Queen Saerina is overthrown, for the first time in history, an Unseelie fae takes the throne. With Queen Malvine in power, the vicious and malevolent Unseelie fae rule the kingdom of Naerynian, which becomes ravished by death and destruction.
As the decaying and oppressed lands are overrun by dark and monstrous creatures of the night, the only hope for salvation for the kingdom is a baby. Believed to be the only one who can stop the Unseelie’s rule, the baby, who is born from a union of both light and dark fae, is much sought after by both sides of the conflict.
Tasked to protect the baby for a lifetime, at just ten years old, Makaio spends his life simply trying to stay alive long enough to carry out his duty. As the year's pass, his homelands fast become nothing more than feotid ruins. As the child nears the age of adulthood, he must return to the place she was hidden and return with her to the kingdom for her to fulfil her destiny.
Complications arise as Makio tries to convince the girl, who she is and what she is expected to do. For she knows nothing about the kingdom, her destiny, and the enchanted world she is from. Events take an unexpected turn when they begin to fall in love. There are rules in their world and being together would seem an impossibility.

This is the first book I have read by Avalina P. Cox and the first book I have read about fairies.

After doing some research about fairies, I was thrilled to discover that Avalina P. Cox also did her research and based her book on known fae terminology, folklore and mythology. I enjoyed learning about fae though this book.

I also enjoyed the concept of this book and the sense of adventure and hope that it created.

I felt for Makaio, what he gave up to take on the oath he did and the childhood he must have suffered through to be able to survive to fulfill this oath.

Kailani's instant recognition and acceptance of what she was and her purpose and her acceptance and determination of what she needed to do was astounding.

I was even fearful of the evil characters!

The twists that were thrown in struck me! They will wow you.

I actually read the last half of the book in one sitting. It was too good to not. And that ending had incredible forecasting! Now I can't wait for book 2!

The new world that Avalina created was incredible. Her descriptions made it feel real, and I could picture it in my head. I absolutely loved the history that she created for this world of fae and the tree of life and secret room of artifacts. Avalina's imagination is very creative, and I look forward to what else she comes up with for our reading pleasure.

It does need a little bit of polishing, but overall this was a fantastic read.

I can not even begin to tell y’all how great this book is!! It is incredibly detailed and mesmerizing. The story is so eloquently written and you can actually picture everything as it’s happening. Not many books can keep my attention the entire time and yet Gaurdian of the Fae had me glued the entire time. I couldn’t put it down! It doesn’t drag on like some stories do. Everything happens at an appropriate pace. Nothing feels elongated or dragged along but nothing feels rushed like it’s happening too soon either. The timeline is perfect. It keeps you interested and drawn in the entire time. It’s easy to follow and the different POVs show you the world of Naerynian from the eyes of three different people. The characters are well developed and you feel their pain in all different aspects. From the first chapter I was hooked. 5/5 stars and will absolutely reread again and again!

This is the first book I have read by this author. . This is not my usual genre to read. This book was absolutely amazingly written the flow and character development was good. The plot was well thought out and clearly had been researched folklore, myth etc.
The only problem and I don't want this to put people off at all. As I said this is not a genre i typically read. I'm a massive binge reader and can complete 800 pages in 3 days, however it's been over 5days and finally completed.

Do Not however miss reading this book if it is in the genre you like as it is superbly written and this author is amazing 😉!!!! I will 100% be looking at more of this authors books!

Guardian of the Fae was a thrilling ride from the moment you start the story, you are transported to a magical new world that was destroyed by terrible creatures, you get to follow Maiko our hero as he learns about himself and tries to fulfill his destiny of protecting Kailani! I couldn’t put this book down and finished it in less than a day! You get sucked into the lore of the fairy world and attached to our main characters. I loved this book very much, Avalina did a wonderful job of giving us a magical new world to get lost in and I cant wait for a sequel!

This book was so eloquently written as if the fae themselves had recorded this adventure. I love the lore of Seelie and Unseelie used this way and it makes the reader think about what it means to be good or evil. Protagonists and antagonists alike were complex and compelling and I felt their stories unfold in the pages. This books has mysterious pasts, betrayals and secrets with a dash of humor to round it all out.

Guardian of the Fae is a fantasy novel with romance and plenty of supernatural creatures. I was intrigued at the beginning, when  it started with a bit of mystery and action. The character personalities have depth that also evolves throughout the duration of the story. It kept me on the edge of the seat

The author has the ability to take you away to the most magical place with her descriptions and storytelling.
I have never read a book that I simultaneously loved and hated the antagonist all in one
Absolutely brilliant and highly recommend

Magical Fantasy

Enjoyed this story of fae and elves and a beautiful love story that redeems a land lost to darkness. A young fae takes an oath to protect a child who is prophesied to save the Seelie fae. He watches the child grow to adulthood and then they learn that their fates are even more entwined by a deeper shared connection.

A decent read

Overall, this was a decent start to a series. However, I felt like the third pov character wasn't necessary, and the pacing felt a little awkward in places. I still enjoyed the story as a whole, and there was some really solid world building that I'm sure will come into play in future books.

The characters and plot were well developed. The storyline kept me intrigued. There were some minor grammatical and formatting issues, but it did not detract from being an enjoyable read. Makaio was the ultimate protector. The perfect person to train Kailani for her destiny.

This was just BAD. The plot was decent but I cannot describe the writing. I’m fully convinced a middle schooler wrote this using a thesaurus & AI.
