My thoughts: saving Grace is a cute story about a young girl who just graduated from college and is seeking for her true calling. She followed her guardians leading getting the degree that he suggested she got but she was not sure what she wants to do with her life. She just knows she doesn't want to do what she has a degree in. I enjoyed reading about the castle and The navigators in the history of that area. Ms fick weaved in some of her earlier books that tied with the theme of this book. You might whet your appetite to read those earlier books. I enjoyed reading the story and the April blizzard was a nice touch. If you like romance and castles you would probably love reading saving Grace or any of the other books in the castle series. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own
What a great addition to the series. Loved how the author moved this one into the present and we got a look at the previous books throughout Grace's story. Grace has scars visible as well as invisible. Drew is drawn to her and her to him. A connection deeper than surface level and one they didn't even know existed. She was an amazing tour guide who made me feel as if I was there with the tourists. What happens when both Grace and Drew are seeking the Lord's guidance? Sweet sweet ending.
Grace lost most of her family in a fire years earlier, and was left scarred. Now, she's eager to please her uncle, but he's trying to push her into a job she dreads. Meanwhile, though, she takes a volunteer job at Glen Eyrie, a Colorado castle. Drew wants to make a difference, but when he hears of the death of a childhood friend, he begins to wonder whether he's succeeding. A visit to Glen Eyrie opens possibilities he hadn't previously considered - but also introduces him to Grace. They've each got reasons for hesitancy in a relationship, and when you add geography to that, a future seems improbable. Will Drew be willing to step out in faith and go where God's leading him? And can Grace break away from her (well-meaning) family to live the sort of life she actually wants?
I think this is my favourite of this series so far - I really enjoyed getting to know the characters, and the setting was amazing. I thought the way that fragments from previous stories were neatly woven in was very clever (though this can still be read as a standalone story). I particularly appreciated the way that Grace and Drew communicated - it felt realistic in the way their relationship developed, and I liked the fact that they didn't have constant secrets and communication failures, which was refreshing. All in all, well written and clean, with an interesting storyline, characters I enjoyed spending time with, and intriguing setting, and an inspiring message. Recommended.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
This latest book is in present time, but takes place in a Castle. I enjoyed how Ms. Fick intertwined the present and past by the main character loving to read. A Christian romance that brings the two main characters together in a unique way.
Grace is a wonderful protagonist who was rescued from a burning cabin which killed her family but has physical and emotional scars! Her guardian controls her life but what he considers best for her is not always what Grace wants. Drew Miller has been teaching survival skills in the military but it is almost time to reenlist and Drew isn't sure what God wants him to do next. I loved how Grace signed up to volunteer at a Colorado castle and ended up heading up helping guests survive an unexpected blizzard on site! Drew and Grace are both excellent protagonists who seek God's will for their future. I received a complimentary e-book of Saving Grace by Candee Fick. I recommend this contemporary book to others. This is my honest opinion.
Awesome! I love the real life aspect of this book - the struggles for acceptance of what is plus looking to God for guidance for what's to come. Life changing events. Real scars that breed insecurities. Being a hero vs wanting to be one. These all add up to being a wonderful story!
