This book is everything I want out of adult fantasy, and I read a lot of fantasy. The world building is intricate without being overwhelming. I have so many questions about the world and how everything works, but the author reveals things in a way that makes sense and feels natural. I know the world-building is fantastic when I want to immediately dive back into the book, or in this case into book two.
The plot was high stakes, high tension, and high payoff with the romance and spice. Seriously, the chemistry between Shadow and Maz jumped off the page from the first breath and had me near salivating for the spark between them to catch fire. And when it did? Woo boy. I was smiling, laughing, sweating, the full works. And the writing is simply *chef’s kiss* beautiful. Certain writing styles make my brain a happy little squish, and Raven Jean’s writing was a joy to read. It's been a long time since i've highlighted so many quotes, and I can't wait to buy a physical copy.
My heart is still recovering and my thoughts are still racing with some of those plot twists, some I saw coming and others that knocked me on my @ss. Raven Jean is an auto-buy for me from now on, 100%. If you love adult fantasy with angel vs demons vibes, smooth and comforting romance, scorching tension and steam, accessible world-building that pulls you in, and a high-stakes plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat? This is the book for you.

**Within in the stars is an addition to this review from my reread of This Hallowed Accord. Being back in this world reminds me why I’m so obsessed with these characters. The banter and love is unparalleled. I love the Easter eggs Raven put into book one, having alpha read This Haunted Remembrance, it had me kicking my feet giddily like a kid in a candy shop. I love how there is no info world building dumping. It flows organically making the readers want more. One of my top comfort reads. These characters and Raven are everything. **

Ok, here I go....
This Hallowed Accord starts out with Shadow, a Celestial, escorting a fallen Celestial to Ephemera.. where she encounters a Noctis male, her mortal enemy, who needs her help eradicating a extremely dangerous new drug starting to sweep the mortal plane. Loyalties are questioned. A side must be chosen. Can Shadow help the mortals without losing her heart? Or will this mysterious stranger change everything she knows to be true?
Shadow, our FMC, is strong, skilled, sarcastic, a loner, can take care of herself, and is all around a bada$$. I instantly connected with Shadow. She has had trauma in her life but she is so strong and smart and just keeps going. I literally wish I could be her. For many reasons 🤣🥵. I love that she is such a hard character but she has a soft and loving nature. And when those moments came out I fell even more in love with her.
Mazgaros or Maz , our MMC, is morally grey, gorgeous, egotistical, hilarious, smart, cunning, strong, etc etc. I could go on and on about this male so you get the point. I love him so much. 🖤 The way that he is with Shadow is so good it hurts my heart; in a good way. He worries about her because he is a possessive alphahole.. but never holds her back. He let's her be who she is and supports her.
The side characters really round out the story. Especially Korras!!! My baby Kor! He is hilarious and smart and wise. Don't you DARE hurt him Raven!!! I got my eyes on you!

I had the honor of reading Raven's debut novel, Eternal, and Raven's writing has progressed exponentially. And I am so dang proud of her. Her fighting scenes were more detailed.. actually all of her scenes were more detailed.. so it rounded out the story. This book is so good and these characters are a part of my personality now. And I'm so happy they are there. I can't wait for book two!!!

My heart and head both are in a freaking emotional coma, thanks to Raven! I applaud her for the trauma she let me endure 🤣💔 you guys are simply NOT ready for this book! And the ending will leave you SPEECHLESS, that I can assure you !
Maz was PHENOMENAL! The words he used while talking to Shadow turned my heart to jelly 😫❤ he had a way with words, and he would fight nastily for the safety and happiness of his beloved 🔥 I LOVED his character development! He was possesssive, overprotective, very secretive as he wouldn't easily open up to someone or reveal his demons to them. It was certainly no surprise for me once his personality was fully exposed, but for most it will come as quite the shock!
Shadow was a freaking QUEEN 😍❤🔥 she exuded beauty, kindness and most of all power! I had a few theories in mind about her character, and one of them came to be true, so maybe so will the others as well 🤣 she was the true definition of resilience! She'd been through more than what was humanly OR otherworldly bearable 😭💔 but she used the pain endured during her last 200 years at her advantage! She rose from her ashes times and time over, not failing to show her enemies why she was the best! Badda$$ woman 😎❤🔥
My mind still cannot grasp all the twists and secrets that came unfolded, even though I had guessed a major part of them beforehand ( being the little detective that I am 🧐🤣) I haven't read a fantasy book in quite a while now, and this one was my first! All I have to say is : SO. FREAKING. WORTH IT!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I already feel a wide void forming in my chest after finishing it, and I know only book 2 will be able to put an end to my suffering ( or not 🤣 with Raven you never really know 🤷🏻♀️ )

A Top 10 of 2022 read for me
What a beautifully written novel. The depth of the characters, the emotions I felt while reading and the adventure I was taken on by Raven has helped make this book a top read of 2022!
I was lucky enough to read Ravens first released novel Eternal as an ARC reader. I adored that book, when she asked me to come on as a beta for this one I was excited. But let me tell you, the GROWTH and the words she put on to paper for This Hallowed Accord was brilliant. The amount of detail and the well thought out process she gave in this novel was *chefs kiss* phenomenal.
This story you think when you start it you’re going to have just your typical angels vs demons but it is so much more. Shadow, I absolutely loved her. She is snarky, sassy and needs no one! She has learned over the years how to shut down her feelings and push everyone away. And she is a tough chick and can defend herself.
Enter Maz… sweet baby Maz… this male gives us the all encompassing touch her and I will unalive you vibes we all love so much.. he is the epitome of alpha, cinnamon roll, and yumminess rolled into one…
And Kor you will fall in love with the best advice giving, unrelenting voice of reason, loving friend in this side character! He gave the best one liners and smack a MC upside their heads when they needed it.
Then you got your villains and love to hate characters that round out the story perfectly.
I have SO many unanswered questions that I’m unsure how I’ll be able to wait even more time for answers!!!
Please do yourself a favor and read this book NOW!

This Hallowed Accord takes angels and demons to a whole other, delicious level. Maybe angles aren’t as pious and righteous as we imagined them, and maybe demons aren’t as dark and dangerous as we thought either, maybe they’re more...
This story follows a cast of beautiful and lovable characters that I fell in love with from page one. Their charisma and unique struggles make you care about them so deeply and I miss them so much now that I’ve finished the book. The FMC, Shadow is a bad@ss, powerful angel (called a Celestial) who finds herself partnering with two gorgeous demons (Noctis). The MMC, Maz is dreamy, tatted and dangerous. Each description of him had me craving more. And their chemistry is to die for. You will not be disappointed by the spice in this one. Not to mention a precious, snarky side character, Kor, who has your heart from the first glance of his cherry red converse.
The plot was everything. There are so many secrets raveled into every inch of this story that have you reading ferociously to figure them all out. Everything is not as it seems in each stunning world the characters find themselves in and even their own memories hold secrets yet to be discovered. I could not uncover the plot fast enough, each sentence has you desperate to find out what will happen next and the ending leaves even more to be desired! I am desperate for the second book!!

This Hallowed Accord gives a new meaning behind angels and demons. Everything is not as it seems in this book. Angels may be beautiful, but their beauty is compacted in lethal capability and ruthless destruction.
There was spice, an engaging plot, world-building and fantasy that was easy to follow, tension, and a villain who is easy to hate. Shadow is the perfect main female character. She is a complete badass. Shadow and Maz together are a symphony of tension and pinning; it was delicious to see it all unfold. Korras must be protected at all times. You know I loved a book if I am emotionally invested in the side characters. The pacing was right on the dot, and the ENDING! Holy cow, the ending got me by the throat. Beware of a wicked cliffhanger!
I cannot wait to see what Raven has in store in book two.

OMG IM OBSESSED. This book quickly became my new obsession and I need EVERYONE to go read it. The beauty is in the details of the world building, the intricacies which are still so easy to understand. The dichotomy and yet simultaneous similarity between Shadow and Maz. The range of emotions I felt in this book were mind blowing. I’m beyond obsessed with Maz, and the layers he slowly peels back throughout the book. Shadows traumas are such an integral part of her that while I didn’t expect some of her actions, they made so much sense to me because of how she had hidden her true self so well. Each character was supremely well written, and made me feel as if I truly knew them; their triumphs and losses, love and heartache were all my own. Go preorder RIGHT NOW

I was lucky enough to be a beta and ARC reading for This Hallowed Accord. Let me tell you, this book is such a trip! The world building is beautifully done, weaving together multiple realms and species without being overwhelming. I adored following Shadow's story - she's strong, she's brave, she's badass... in short, everything you want from your MFC. Then we have Maz, our MMC. He is a smooth-talking, morally grey, delicious book boyfriend. Put them together and WOW! I loved their banter, the passion between them, and the underlying feeling like there's something more. Now don't get me started on Kor - he is perfection and he better have his own storyline soon!
Now I will say the ending is a bit of a bitch. It is the perfect cliffhanger that was so shocking and left us dying for more - the way cliffhangers should be! I have theories on where this may go, but I also had theories throughout the beta reading process and almost all of them were incorrect, so I can't wait to see what's next!

Shadow is our bada$$ FMC that has no problem kicking a$$ and taking names later, she has a job that is thrust on her as she’s the only one that can cross the way. The author quickly shows you the character of our FMC while flying through the worlds that she has created. She has trauma, has lived through unimaginable things, but nothing has the power to take her down… she knows the kind of force that she is and what she brings to the table.
That’s until she meets a handsome stranger that knocks her off a mission she was getting ready to take on.
Maz is our MC that keeps you on the edge of your seat in mystery of who he is and what his motives are. The only thing you don’t question is what he feels for Shadow. It’s a borderline obsession that I dove right into. Maz has his own traumas and motives but the way he cares for and ravishes Shadow is absolutely divine.
Their banter is hilarious, deviously yummy, and has you wishing to be a fly on the wall. Korras is our side character that doesn’t just fill in the missing parts but creates a dynamic that you would truly miss. I loved Kor and hope to see more of him as the series continues.
From being pulled in by the very first sentence to the shock the last sentence gives you, you’re sucked in and you don’t want it to be over.

It’s a borderline obsession that I dove right into. Maz has his own traumas and motives but the way he cares for and ravishes Shadow is absolutely divine.
Their banter is hilarious, deviously yummy, and has you wishing to be a fly on the wall. Korras is our side character that doesn’t just fill in the missing parts but creates a dynamic that you would truly miss. I loved Kor and hope to see more of him as the series continues.
From being pulled in by the very first sentence to the shock the last sentence gives you, you’re sucked in and you don’t want it to be over.

This book was absolutely astounding! I forgot how much I loved fallen angel stories! It was almost nostalgic to remember the fallen angel stories i devoured a decade ago. But this, this was so much more than any of those. It is an attention grabber from the very beginning. Shadow is just an awesome badass right from the start and I loved her immediately. And Maz! I knew I was in trouble in chapter 4 when there was a detailed description of him. The man is too fine! He’s a front runner for book boyfriend right now. This story is phenomenal, the characters are fantastic, the ending is stunning! There’s enemies to lovers, fated mates, angels and demons ish, plot twist, and cliffhangers. Emotional damage too but it felt really good! I can not wait for the next one! I preorder the ebook and will be buying a physical copy as soon as they go live! One of my favorite reads this year.

Holy angels and demons this was amazing!!!!
Everything about this was perfection! Shadow is the perfect badass FMC who at the end of the day always chooses to do the right thing even if she is the cost.
Maz is a mysterious, tatted, handsome Nocte (kind of like a demon) who is more than meets the eye.
I loved this clash of angels and demons and to be so different from a religious perspective. The world building is a culmination of different realms that resemble a heaven, Earth, and hell while all being unique in their attributes. I was pleasantly impressed at how seamless the world building was and the ease at which one picks up on the terminology. While there is a guide at the beginning, the writing makes comprehending it effortless.
Shadow and Maz are this roller coaster of fire and passion and uncertainty. They will pull you so fiercely into their attraction for one another as they orbit through the tumultuous story arc, it will leave you breathless.

This book is one of my top favourites so far this year. I have fallen in love with not only Ravens Jeans characters but also with her style of writing, it is just beautiful.
The whole story from start to finish, unfolds with absolute precision. Every detail, every word is methodically placed. nothing is said without a purpose.
we are given teeny weeny hints, just a slip of a word every now and then, but never revealing too much.
In no way or form did i see that ending happening.
shadow is such an in depth complicated mix of emotions. She has an inbuilt coping mechanism, she has learnt that she can confided and rely on no one. none has her best interest at heart. she has learnt to hide her feelings and her secrets, to show no weakness and no vulnerability.
But that all goes out the window when a certain dark territorial Alpha turns up. He literally turns her world inside out.
Kor is another loveable character who is added into the mix. i love his banter and caring nature. All i will say is that the Toaster didn't deserve it. Iykyk.

The start dragged a bit for me. And that may have been just my life circumstances (sickness, busy mom life, holiday stuff)
But the setup for getting to know Shadow fit perfectly, once you get into the book. I'm hoping we get to see more from the hidden town, or at least a few people from it, in the next book or in a novella.
Maz was unexpected. But wow is he intense, from start to finish. The back and forth attitude from him is neck-breaking. Makes sense by the end.

This. Book.
This Hallowed Accord is phenomenal. It's a top 2022 read for me. The story is compelling, the world-building is excellent, the characters are well-rounded and fully developed, the chemistry between the FMC and MMC is everything, and the book leaves you wanting more. You have angels. You have vampires. There are multiple realms. There is mystery, intrigue, romance, spice. This story has it all!
This is my first Raven Jean book, but it will not be my last. I'm sold on reading everything she writes, and I cannot wait to see where she takes the story moving forward.

I’m calling it, best book of 2023
Wow. The twists and the turns in this book had me on the edge of my damn seat from the first page to the last. I was not prepared for that bombshell of an ending. Nope. The relationship between Maz and Shadow was heartbreaking yet inspiring, if that makes sense? Kor was one hell of a side character, the bickering between him & Maz was hilarious book 2 cannot come quick enough…..

The writing, the plot twists, the ending 👌 and the MC? Maz is possessive and overprotective and Shadow a badass queen. The dirty talk? 🔥 Mine, good girl, pretty girl, I melted.
The beginning, say the first two chapters, of the book had me a bit confused but that just might be a instance of brainfog. But it pulled me in quickly after and by page 100 I couldn't put it down anymore. The last 20% had me, both emotionally as with all the plot twists, in a death grip.

I wish I could give half rating because I think I would rate this a 3.5. It was an enjoyable read with characters I like. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I did feel that it was little insta love for me and was fairly predictable. That’s not always a bad thing but I think for me I just needed a little more to make it stick out a little. I think overall if you like a spicy adult fantasy romance that this is a good read!

The story was written so well. I love reading fantasy books and this one was such a rich read, with it's different planes, different takes on things that we are already familiar with. But what I loved even more was the FMC. I love when there's a strong fmc in the books. Some of the books focuses on the mmc rather than making the fmc relatable or even likeable. But Shadow was great to read. She is fierce, she knows what she wants and she can do her job more than well. She stands out in the story without Maz, and that's why she is more than special.
Raven Jean's Eternal was the first book that I have read as an arc and then I did a beta read for this book. I can see the changes in Raven's writing. The way she just keeps getting better and better is amazing to watch.

Was honored to be a beta reader for "This Hallowed Accord." Raven's world building is detailed but not overwhelming and the character development was amazing. Our MCs are flawed yet relatable and their slow burn pays off in spades. Kor is a whole other level of perfection, IYKYK.
The ending is perfect and frustrating, what every good cliffhanger should be. I have some thoughts on where I think it is going and CANNOT wait till book 2!

I've changed my rating system for reviews and 5 star reviews have now become books that I would reread and recommend to everyone for the rest of forever. This book is one of those books. I was hooked from the Poe poem in the beginning😍 I loved the subtle secretness and the dive right into the action and plot in the first chapter! The world building/setting on every page was absolutely superb. I never had to question what anything looked like. All of the descriptions were SO vivid, ESPECIALLY the tree, Vaelra. I need to see that tree in real life😍 I loved the characters as well. Watching Shadow develop throughout the story was so amazing, I related to her in a few ways. She's a very strong, independent, dominant character and watching her learn to let someone in to care for her was so sweet to watch. Maz was also one of my favorite characters (I mean obviously). The way he knew Shadow was his from the moment he met her😍 his possessiveness, but also still allowing Shadow to be her own person and loving her for it was fucking phenomenal. He didn't want to change her, he just wanted to care for and love her, and she finally let him🥹 watching their relationship develop was so cute, the slow burn was SO worth the fire👏🏻🫡 Korras is probably one of my favorite side characters. His one-liners killed me🤣 He also has a big heart and always encouraged Shadow and Maz both personally and in their relationship with one another. The plot twists were so unexpected! THE ENDING, RAVEN I NEED BOOK TWO PLEASE WTF😭😭🙃

Wow. This book is everything. I was in such a slump and this book pulled me right out of it! I am SO glad I was able to join in on the book tour, because this book had everything I love and I am going to be thinking about it for so long.
The book had me feeling all of the emotions. I was laughing, crying, gasping, and melting through the whole thing. Raven does a wonderful job of balancing world building, storytelling, and romance.
As the story progresses, the author does a great job of providing little bits of information about the past of our main characters, enough to keep us guessing but not sharing the entire truth. Both are keeping secrets and watching everything unfold was heartbreaking, joyful, and shocking all at once. Some of my theories turned out correct, but there were a lot of surprises that I 100% did not see coming.
I loved the flirtatious banter between Maz and Shadow, and the lead up to the spicy scenes was next level. I immediately fell for Maz (tats and hand necklaces, how could I not?). I was rooting for Shadow and Maz through the story. I love these 2 together!

I loved the flirtatious banter between Maz and Shadow, and the lead up to the spicy scenes was next level. I immediately fell for Maz (tats and hand necklaces, how could I not?). I was rooting for Shadow and Maz through the story. I love these 2 together!

This Hallowed Accord
Readers who enjoy enemies to reluctant allies to lovers, forbidden love, only one bed, soft only for the FMC, morally grey MMC, strong FMC, who did this to you tropes, then This Hallowed Accord is the perfect books. It has spice, multiple planes of existence, a unique take on angels and demons, and a gala.
This is the first book I have read by the author, and I am not disappointed. I will most definitely be reading the rest of the series and I cannot wait to read what happens next.
I absolutely adore the FMC and MMC, and the side characters make this story so much better. This was such an enjoyable read as it has almost all of my favorite tropes. The world building was done well, and the storyline itself has me enchanted.

Fantastic!
I devoured this book in two day, and it was so fun, thrilling and spicy.
We have Shadow - FMC - works on demanding and cruel man who can demand practically anything he wants her to do for him. And during one of her missions she met Maz - charismatic male whom she should hate.
But what will happen when she feels anything but hatred? When so many secrets and confessions remain unspoken?
This book was so good, we are following adventures of our characters, trying to solve mysteries of our past and political conspiracy. The world building and creatures lore was wonderfully done, wish we knew more about planets, but hope it will be in the following books.
Can’t wait to read what will happen in the next book. First one ends with plot twist which i was not expected.

this was a fun read! there was a lot to love; the characters, the twists and turns in the story, very accessible world building (not confusing at all and easy to picture!). I’d say 2.5/5 spice, it wasn’t too much and not every other page but there was 🩸 involved so it might not be for everyone even though it was mild.
the reason I’m rating this 4/5⭐️ is because of some minor inconsistencies throughout the book (getting the Planes of Existence mixed up, for example) and some overlooked spelling mistakes, repetitive language and a few sentences not making sense (I think due to being edited and some words not being deleted). however, little things like that didn’t occur often enough for me to get annoyed and stop reading.
I’m really looking forward to This Haunted Remembrance and will be reading it IMMEDIATELY on the day of release. ❤️🗡️🩸

I don't always fully connect with the FMC but i was connected to Shadow right away. I loved her. Strong and fierce but softeness when needed. There was a perfect blend of the past and present to keep the main story unfolding but then little morsels of the past to let us learn more along the way 🗡
Maz is... have a glass of ice water nearby when you read because Maz is 🔥🫠
Their banter gave me a new outlook on life and I'll be giddy about this ready for weeks to come. This was an amazing fantasy read with a well built plot and character development 👏
The tropes are so delicious. The dialog, the world, all of it flows so well. Raven’s writing is great - from the tension to the world building to the spice... I wish I could read this for the first time again!
