Forging Paradise is Book Two in Legends of the Four Races, a series of nine fantasy adventure novels that form an Interlocking Matrix of six separate trilogies. Forging Paradise, a high fantasy, may be read on its own, as the second book of The Weapons Trilogy, or as the first book of The War Trilogy.
When a supposedly mythical race of desert warriors invade the human territories, destroying every city in their path, five former enemies must travel together into the netherworld and harness the unpredictable power of demons to defeat the seemingly invincible army.
An unrelenting army sweeps in from the badlands, wiping out every human city in its path. Hermod, a long-retired hero, escapes the destruction and gathers emissaries from his former enemies. Together, they must find a way to fight back against the Ferfolks overwhelming numbers, superior swordsmanship, and monstrous desert beasts. The ancient wizard Ogma sends the brave warriors into a demon-filled netherworld on a desperate quest to create a set of enchanted weapons powerful enough to stop the invasion. But magical weapons sometimes have agendas of their own.

The coverart is very well done, and fits the descriptions of Hermod, a ferfolk, and a terun. The books is a pretty good size, with letters slightly shorter, so the book is probablly bigger than it seems, which is always a good thing, in my opinion atleast. It's very descriptive, and easy to imagine. My favorite part is when Hermod insulted Lord Obidicut, andLord Obidicut threatened them, so Hermod quickly apologized. Then Oengus took out his wand which got Lord Obidicut's attention focused on him. This book is fantastic, filled with action from begining to end. A journey dangerous journey for five heroes. It's great, and I can't wait for the next one.

Fun fantasy adventure series. I was looking for something to read to take my mind of the real world when my wife was in the hospital and this series was just what I needed. I picked up the first few books in the series at a Ren Faire and had them all signed, too. I like that it is a set of 9 books in a matrix, so several trilogies with overlapping books. I am planning on reading them all in order, but it's nice to know how they interconnect with the others in the matrix.
