“When they tried to destroy her, they forgot one thing… I’m the only monster who rules this mountain.”

WINTER

Bruised. Bloody. Bound.

I lost everything the day they took me, my memories, my voice, my soul. I couldn’t tell them what they were so desperate to know, no matter what they did to me.

Now I’m free, lost on this wild and snowy mountain with no one in the world to call upon.

I don’t know who I am or where I belong, but I know what I want.

The single purpose I have left is to destroy the vicious men who held me captive. The Five: Jax, Farley, Quentin, Orville, and Duke.

All I need is a weapon powerful enough to take them on. And when I find it, I’ll be the one watching them scream.

NICOLI

I'm the shadow of two men and the total of none, I abandoned everything in Sinners Bay. Because I'm not the man I used to be.

Fate guided me to her that day in the snow. This fragile creature covered in scars with the will of a warrior shining within.

The torture she’s faced can never be set right, but I’ll give everything I am to destroy the men who hurt her.

I was lost and alone before I found her. But maybe I can find redemption in making them bleed for my savage girl.

And once I lay their heads at her feet, I’ll cast my tattered soul down with them too so she can decide if my sacrifice is great enough to cleanse my body of sin.

Vengeance whispers their names on the wind and I’ll answer its call with all that I am.

This book started out good. I was hooked till 30%, but then everything went downhill from there.
I skimmed through the last 100 pages because I was getting so bored.

I loved the first book in the series but this one turned out to be a disappointment.

The writing was really really bad. I just couldn't focus on the story because the writing was so bad. This book needed major editing done. It felt like I was reading some high schoolers wattpad fantasy. There were 3 POV in this book and they all sounded the same. The inner monologues to dialogues everyone was talking and thinking the same way. It felt so weird to read about a supposed badass mafia man explaining how hot his brothers were, how toned and muscular their bodies were.

There was also a lot of talking and less showing. They were supposed to be a powerful mafia organization that ruled the city but they couldn't find one girl. Hell they didn't even have full control over the police. Was I really suppose to believe that a born and bred mafioso was going to the police for help because his brothers can't do much.

The h was kind of a mess. She was suffering from amnesia so I guess her ping ponging emotions can be justified.
I did like that she was freaking crazy at times. Need more Bloodthirsty h's.

The H was weak, he was so whiny and emotional for a guy raised in brutality. He was nothing like the guy I read about in the first book. I loved him and his craziness in the first book. Like I get it he was dealing with identity crisis but why is he acting like he wasn't raised in the mafia. At the end he did become a badass but it was a little too late. And also... If this guy had said "my savage girl" one more time I would've thrown my phone across the room.

I've been curious about Nicoli ever since that one revelation from the previous book and it didn't disappoint! This was intense, steamy and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I still loved Rocco/Sloan's story a little more, but I really enjoyed this as well! <3

"I'm yours, Winter. In all senses. You can have my tainted soul to keep or to destroy, I don't care which. You've given me purpose when I thought I had none left in this world. I can't thank you enough for that."

Nicoli (H):
— I was kinda worried going into this because, in the first book, it was shown Nicoli would have done everything for Sloan (h of book 1) so I was curious how he would feel towards Winter (h), but I loved how he realized in the beginning that he wasn't in love with Sloan, he never was; it was simply the idea of loving someone that caused him to act that way. The way he was so patient with Winter and would have fought the world to keep her safe. *swoons* the only thing I was meh about him was his nickname for Winter (baby doll). It's more of a personal preference tho, I respect that it's their thing, but I couldn't help but cringe LOL.

"Don't you dare do that! Look at me like I'm just some victim. Hold back on your anger because you think I can't handle it. I'm not made of glass, Nicoli! I went through something, something really fucked up that I'll obviously never forget, but I refuse to be marked by it forever. If I can't even trust you to be yourself with me, then how the hell am I supposed to move on from it?"

Winter (h):
— if you search "strong heroine", Winter's face would pop up. I have so much admiration and respect for her cause the things she went through...damn. Let's just say she didn't deserve any of the shit she had to endure but the way she stood tall and fought back, despite everything. 👏🏼 also,

"Then I promise you this, I will spend every day for as long as I have in this world making you smile and moan and sigh with pleasure. And when life hurts you, I'll be there to soothe the ache, to fight your demons, to follow you into the fires of hell and burn there to ensure you live to smile again. I promise that your sunrise will always come, no matter how dark the night gets."

Romance:
— I loved the pacing of their romance! The way it started in the mountain, where they learned how to depend on each other and fight off those monsters and when they came back in the "real world", same shit happened yet they rose above it all, together. I loved how they're both alike in a way where it made sense why they immediately felt connected to each other and found that comfort and peace.

"I failed you, Angelo. I failed you and I can never make that right. I can't imagine the life you've led and if that Calabresi scum were still alive today, I assure you I'd take great pleasure in ripping him apart piece by piece for what he's done, but I..."

Family bonds:
— ngl, I cried during the reunion of the three brothers with Nicoli. They accepted him into their life as if he had always been a part of them since the beginning and I love the way they cared and would do anything for each other. The scene between Nicoli and his dad (see quote above) omg, I lost it at that point. It was heartwarming and sweet and everything I hoped their meeting would be! <3

Rocco was the wolf, leader of the pack, Frankie was a crocodile, lurking beneath the calm waters, waiting to snap. But Enzo...he was something way less predictable and utterly fearless, like a tiger, beautiful but fucking deadly. I guessed I was something a lot less subtle like a bear snarling over its territory and ready to take on the damn world for what was mine, which wasn't the worst thing in the world. *perfect description of the boys, if you ask me*

Romero brothers:
— Frankie: let's start with the loml Frankie because this man had a duality I didn't realize existed until this book. Well, I kinda knew since he's the one who always has a smile or tries to make jokes of the brothers but it's obvious he has a dark side to him people don't realize at first glance; however I didn't expect the whole situation about I'm guessing his book is next cause we had his pov here (and, in the previous book, it was Nicoli's pov who was added). If his love interest is the maid from his Aunt's house, I'd be interested to see that! also, I love how most of my highlights as I was reading the book were mainly Frankie-related. If that doesn't prove my love for him, idk what will. 🤧
— Enzo: we all know I'm a sucker for the dark, broody killers and Enzo was no exception. He's also the one who tends to go from one woman to the next so I'm excited to see him meet the one to finally bring him to his knees.
— Rocco: I loved seeing Rocco and Sloan again!! They deserved happiness after everything that happened in book 1 and baby River was the cutest! <3

"I promise that your sunrise will always come, no matter how dark the night gets."

Beautiful Savage follows the story of Nicoli and Winter who both have tragic lives. Winter has lost everything the day she was taken, memories, voice and soul. But now she is free and lost in the wild and snowy mountain. Winter has one single purpose, to destroy the vicious men who held her captive. Nicoli is dealing with the aftermath of the truth of his life and hiding from his true family. He moves to the mountains where he finds Winter. Together they will fight their demons.

⤷ Even though you can read this book as a standalone I would still suggest reading these books in order as it can make the series more enjoyable and you can get a better understanding of Nicoli's story!

⤷ I didn't love this as much as the first book and was losing interest halfway through but then the plot definitely picked up!

⤷ I really enjoyed Winter's character and how she was still a complete badass after everything she went through. Winter is the definition of a fighter and she never gives up which I love about her!

⤷ Nicoli was different from the other male characters that I'm used to as he wasn't brooding and dark but soft, caring and loyal. I adored how sweet he was to winter but at times his protectiveness did annoy me but Winter never backed down!

⤷ Frankie is still my favorite brother and I think the next book will be about him as he had his own point of view chapters. We also got to see Rocco and Sloan who I love as well as Enzo which I can't wait for his book as well!

"I would say you steal my breath away, Winter, but that’s not quite right. You steal my entire lungs and my heart along with them."

I would definitely recommend reading these books within this series!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

”There was only one possible fate for men who chained monsters. Sooner or later, they'd fall prey to their claws and teeth”

~4.75 stars~

Mute. No memories. Scars. Pain. That was all Winter could remember when Nicoli found her almost dead in the snow. All she knew was pain and all she wanted was revenge. Revenge against the 5 men who tortured her for as long as she could remember. And when Nicoli Vitoli, the mountain man, brought her in she knew she found her sword.

Nicoli Vitoli just wanted to run away. Run away from his past, his past which he found out was lies. The man he thought of as a father kidnapped him from his real family and his ex-fiance was kidnapped and fell in love with her taker, who happened to be Nicoli's brother. He just wanted to be alone. A mountain man living in his cabin with his dog. But what could he do when a tortured girl came into his life and he would stop at nothing and burn down everything for her.

"They couldn't have her and I was ready to lay out their corpses at the feet of my hungry goddess."

Nicoli Romero. Nicoli MF Romero ladies and gentlemen. Another top tier bookfriend brought to you from the Twisted Sisters Factory. If you wanted a possessive, protector, guitar-playing, wood cutting bear of a man. Look no further. Get yourself to a mountain and find yourself a long lost mafia man.

Winter. Winter is a badass in all senses of the word. The things she overcame and the revenge she made sure to serve. She was a badass without having to say anything.

Honestly Nicoli and Winter could run me over, spit on me, and I would legit be like "same time next week?"

And don't you think I forgot about the smut scenes because man were they something.
Let's just say I didn't know killing the people who tortured you and f*cking on their fresh blood was something on my "to read" list. But alas here we are...

"I feel like a poor man standing before his queen when I look at you. Like I'm staring at something so much purer and better than me and that I'm sullying you just by being in your presence. Like I'm making you dirty just by thinking about all the ways I want to worship you."

Tropes:
- Dark Mafia Romance
- Semi Insta-Love
- Revenge
- They both fall. Hard.
- Long lost family
- Touch her and the word that is worse than kill you
- Protective MMC
- Badass FMC

I want to start this review off first by saying if you haven’t read Beautiful Carnage yet, I strongly suggest you do. While this can be read as a standalone, I feel it would be more enjoyable to read after the first book so you have a better understanding of Nicoli’s backstory.

Beautiful Savage is such an epic story of survival no matter what. Both characters have had a tragic life and they've become so much stronger instead of letting it destroy them. Nicoli is dealing with the knowledge of finding out his entire life has been a lie. He is hiding from who is just found out is his family. He isn’t ready to handle the aftermath of a lifetime at war with people he was raised to hate even though they were really his blood. He moves to the mountains to get away and while there he finds Winter. Winter is the definition of survivor. This girl has been kept captive and tortured by five guys for information she doesn’t even remember. They abuse her everyday, keeping her locked in a cell with hardly any food or water. She finally is able to escape one day and runs away only to be caught in a blizzard in the woods. Nicoli finds her and takes her in to help her. After learning what Winter has been through Nicoli makes it his mission to get revenge for her and keep her safe. Their story is so beautiful. You have two broken people who come together and help heal each other. Nicoli is running away from his life and all he has done and Winter is trying to remember hers and get away from the demons currently after her. I love how they help each other grow and love. Nicoli will do anything to keep Winter safe even if it means risking his own life. Winter is such a warrior. After all she has been through she doesn’t back down. She fights with everything she has. They both accept each other no matter their pasts, or scars.

We also get more Romero brothers time! If you’ve read Beautiful Carnage you know how amazing Rocco, Frankie, and Enzo are. They bring so many smiles and laughter to this story. We get to see Sloan also, as well as a bit of Pappa Romero. It’s such a heartwarming moment when he meets Nicoli. I can’t wait until Frankie’s book. He is going to steal what little bit of my heart Rocco and Nicoli left! Oh also, no cliffhanger! Yay!! Let’s celebrate not being in misery for once!

After experiencing Nicoli’s character in the first book I was SO excited to see how things panned out in book 2 when I found out it was all about him. The way things ended in book 1 and the revelations that came to light were nothing short of heart breaking. Nicoli went through one heart breaking event after another and deserved to feel loved and cherished.

Winter was an amazing female character. She was strong, independent, and brave to the core. She didn’t take nonsense from anyone and that is my favourite kind of lead female character. Both of these characters have been through so much and they deserved to find their happy ever after!

I loved it in book 1 too but the family dynamic with Enzo, Rocco and Frankie always gives me the giggles and I can’t wait to read their own books.

The storyline was so fresh and original that I was able to fly through the pages of this. I absolutely loved it.
I can’t wait to see whose book is next!!!!

I knew Nicoli’s book was going to be amazing! Again with the plot twist, and this was a doozy! Action, love, sexy times and amazing brotherhood. The humour too makes this book the full package. Winter was such a true warrior and Nicoli, well he was just everything you want in a male lead. I loved this book so much, I’m hoping Frankie gets his book next as he was such a big part of this one. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. These books are making me enjoy mafia romance a whole lot more!

*** 4 STARS ***

Beautiful Savage is the second instalment in the The Boys of Sinners Bay series. Every book follows a different couple so they can be read as a standalone but I recommend to read Beautiful Carnage first to understand Nicoli’s background, our Hero.

Caroline and Susanne are both part of my one-click authors’ list and, again, they have delivered a full of feelings story. I loved the main characters, Nicoli and Winter. Seeing both growing as individuals and together was absolutely beautiful. Winter is such a strong heroine, what she had to go through, seeing her overcoming her trauma and developing her feelings and trust was heartwarming. Nicoli reminded me of a big bear because of his protectiveness and loyalty. He was so sweet and caring with Winter, I adored him. He was completely lost, not knowing anymore who he was and it was amazing to see the process of finding himself again.

Alone.
She punctuated that by pointing at me and I gave her a sad smile.
“Yeah, baby doll. I’m all alone.”
A soft smile touched her lips and she traced more letters on my palm.
Me too.
“Not anymore, Winter,” I said, meaning to reassure her and realising that I was talking about myself too. “We have each other now.”

I loved the secondary characters too, especially because they added the humour and the importance of being part of a family. The Romero brothers (Rocco, Frankie and Enzo), Sloan and Cocco play a part in the plot. It was great to catch up with all of them. Frankie has his own POV and it was a great surprise. I can’t wait for his book! We even get a new dog friend, Tyson, who Nicoli found and adopted in the mountains. I would have loved to see more of him though.

This is a mafia book, so expect action and blood. Midway it slows down but be ready for the last part!

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy mafia and action plots with a strong heroine and a very protective hero.

Caroline and Susanne always write such amazing books and this one did NOT disappoint. If you have read Beautiful Carnage then you’ll love this.
Both Nicoli and Winter were dealt shitty cards throughout their lives but that changes once they meet.
Nicoli aka sexy mountain man tried to run from his past only to be drawn back in.
To say that Winter is a strong female lead would be a huge understatement, she knows what she wants and she’ll get it no matter the cost.
I loved reading the unbelievable lows and incredible highs of these two characters. A story with hate, love, humor, extreme darkness, and steam - you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole time!

I received this as an ARC and I’m leaving my review willingly.

Book: Beautiful Savage
Author: Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
Recommend: Yes
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️
Age recommendation: 16-30+ Years

Plot:
A young girl is held captive in a nearby hunting cabin area. She has been held for over 18months and has amnesia and can’t remember who she is.
She manages to escape and runs into a “mountain man” who is Nicoli (the man who was meant to marry Sloan from book 1 Beautiful Carnage), Nicoli has been in hiding for over a year now from his family who he was taken from as a young child. He thinks his family will hate him from all that’s happened between them since he was taken.
Nicoli keeps Winter safe from he men who had taken her. Frankie manages to find Nicoli up the mountain one day when he comes looking for the mountain man who has killed a few of the men who are managing a business for his Auntie. He talks them into coming back to the family and to help keep winter safe as well.
When they get back winter is noticed by some friends and is found by the police and her husband comes to take her home. After he takes her home she finds out he is a horrible man who is the reason she was kidnapped and hurt in the first place. Nicoli saves her and they have a HEA. This book has Rocca, Sloan, Frankie and Enzo in it from book 1.

My feelings:
“This book is dedicated to all the mountain men living alone in the woods. We know you’re hot AF under all that hair, so come and whisk us away to your cabin anytime so we can get tangled up in your man bush.”

I loved this book!
I loved it sooooo much more then the first book. Nicoli and Winter are so good together. This book has that dark type of love that I like. She finds his savage nature to be sexy, the blood that taints his hands turns her on.

I loved Nicoli possessive nature towards Winter. My fav was when he wanted her to change her dress but she refused. It was cute that he cared so much, and even cuter as time went on and het got better with her outfits, even though he wanted her covered. I love my men possessive and protective.

I also loved how he was obsessed with her, so much so that other women repulsed him. He only had eyes for her no matter what. Total swoooooon.

I want moreeeeee……. Can we get a Enzo and Frankie one now??? We all know a Frankie one would be soooooooo full of spice!

“If you go Titanic on those diamonds, bella, I will dive in after them like a fucking horny dolphin,” Enzo taunted and I glanced over my shoulder at him with a smirk.”

Updating my rating on this book too. The MMC gives me the ick. He’s great at the beginning but towards the middle/end he gets super possessive but not in the good way. He constantly tries to control the FMC about her body because men will “look at her”. Blame the guy for being creepy, not the gal who’s trying to live in her own body!

I loved the two leads, Nicola and Winter were great but I really don't think that the pace of the book was as quick or engaging as the first one.

I really looked forward to this book because I loved the first in this series, and I love Susanne and Caroline as authors in general. But I felt disappointed when I read it. The amount of sex and lack of character personality is why. I felt like everything about the 2 main characters evolved around sex. The plot had potential but fell flat. A lot of things didn't add up, there was details left out and unanswered.

Even better than the first book. Winter is fucking savage. Nicoli is pretty damn savage too. I'm loving these books. Maybe even more than the Zodiacs... don't kill me for saying that lol. Just really love these brutal criminal underworld or mafia or whatever the hell books they are. Amazing! These two ladies write sp well together. It's seamless. Wonder what's next?

”I would say you steal my breath away, Winter, but that's not quite right. You steal my entire lungs and my heart along with them.”

I loved Nicoli in Beautiful Carnage and he didn’t disappoint in this book. 👨🏻‍🍳💋

This story is set a year after the events of the last one where Nicoli has hidden out in the mountains, alone to come to terms with who he is and what he will do next, with no one in his life except his dog Tyson. His path crosses with Winter who has been brutally tortured by a band of 5 men for a length of time, having managed to kill one and escape, she vows vengeance on the others and won’t rest until they are all dead.

I fell for Nicoli’s immediate connection to Winter and his instinct to protect her. That’s the kind of guy he is (as evidenced by how hard he fought for Sloan in Beautiful Carnage) so initially it seems it’s just his savior complex kicking in, but I did feel how much he actually cared for her. His “burn the world for you” energy was so hot because it had passion in it, it wasn’t just alpha posturing.

“I’ll be your warrior, Winter. Because you need vengeance and I need redemption. But it’s more than that. I’m under some spell when it comes to you. And I am perfectly okay with that.”

And Winter was so fierce and determined. The strength to endure her abuse and not let it break her was remarkable, I love a badass FMC. She didn’t feel sorry for herself. I did find the randomness of her voicing coming back a little off but it wasn’t too big of an issue for me.

“Don’t be gentle with me, Nicoli,” she warned. “I don’t want the refined man the world sees when they look at you. I want the brutal beast who killed for me. I want the man covered in the blood of my enemies and I want to forget that my name was ever Sasha and to just be your savage girl.”

I liked the overall plot, but the pacing was a little off because there was a lot going on in just 500 pages. By 30% only 1 man remained so I was wondering where the story was going, then a whole new plot was thrown in with the “family” looking for Winter. NGL though was disappointed the plot line with Aunt Clarissa just ran cold. Maybe it’s to be picked up in a future book (will there be more??)🤷🏻‍♀️

I did, however, love Frankie’s PoV chapters, and the all the brothers being involved and embracing Nicoli as their brother was really special, the bond was already there. They added some lighter moments to the story 💕

I want to carve your name into my heart and wear the scar as proudly as you wear all of yours.

Winter has spent what feels like a thousand days as a captive. Five men demand an answer to a question she cannot answer. So she is tortured. Beaten. Burned. And then Winter stops speaking. Feeling. Thinking. She escapes and runs into the ice and snow, even forgetting who she is.

Nicolai is a man who’s lost everything he thought he had and everyone he believed he knew. Retreating to his cabin before returning to Sinner’s Bay to sort out his life, the last thing he expects to find in the woods is a beautiful, half dead girl.

Now as Nicolai tries to figure out the puzzle that is Winter, they both must evade the men after her.

Caroline and Susanne write such awesome stories, and they’ve definitely done it again with this one. Although this book is a standalone HEA, you really do need to read Beautiful Carnage to know who Nicolai is, because that explains why he’s hiding away in his remote cabin and also why people are looking for him.

I loved watching Nicolai and Winter’s relationship change and grow. I must admit, Nicolai was not who I was rooting for in the first book, and for good reason. But here, we see Nicolai for so much more than everyone else tried to make him. I feel badly now that I trash talked him in Beautiful Carnage! He is a wonderful character with a lot of layers, not at all how he was perceived previously. Nicolai really suffered when Sloan left (was taken) and stayed with his arch enemy, who he also found out is his brother.

This was a great mafia enemies to lovers romance!

ĶYou know whenever I read a book by Caroline and Susanne a quote from this book rings true, they leave me 'like I got f**ked in the ass by a dinosaur and he didnt even buy me flowers " they both really know how to keep me begging for more.

This book is based on Nicoli and Winter, Nicoli is our caring mountain man, strong capable and when he sets his goals hes sure to.achieve them, but Winter, well she really steals the show for me!

Although Winter is this fiery, strong, determined female who has been
Dealt a fair few shitty cards she locks down her speech and struggles to trust, which is totally understandable. As her story grows I'm grateful that so does her fight....... her strength really is an incredible addition to her character, one that really truly sold this book to me page after page.

This book is a standalone but much better read with Beautiful Carnage, it also contains slight trigger Warner's

Wow this book was freaking amazing!!
So book 1 was Rocco and Sloans book.
Book 2 picks up nicely on Nicoli’s story and we meet Winter.
So walking into this book was so exciting I couldn’t put it down. From the first page it’s action packed. This book was so amazing honestly it had some dark elements and the questions are all answered no cliffhanger so that is always a plus.
Nicoli captured my heart in Beautiful Carnage and hasn’t let it go Beautiful Savage tells his story so beautifully.
So if you like steamy 🔥 books and you like Mafia books don’t wait around and go pick this up now!! And if you read book 1 your in for a delicious treat you already know what these Authors can do and Caroline and Susanne don’t disappoint at all!! This book is also action packed so be ready for no sleep. I can’t wait for book 3.

What an amazing second book in this series!! After reading Beautiful Carnage (which was amazing as well), I couldn't wait to see what happened to Nicoli, considering I had a major soft spot for him after all he went through. This book definitely did NOT disappoint!!! I absolutely loved how Winter came into her own in this book. She's so strong and brave and her and Nicoli make a great team. The plot twist just kept coming and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Also I loved Tyson because DUH. I can't wait to read the rest of the books because I love the crossover between characters, and how we got to learn a little bit more about Frankie and Enzo. Bravo (again!) to S&C on another great read!!!
