The Swordsmith and the Devils Dancer

Rate this book

They’re playing a game… but the stakes are everything.

Samiel spent years holding on to the hope that one day he could build a good life as a swordsmith. When that dream is brutally crushed, he begs the devil to take his cruel master down to the Abyss, and finally set him free. But the devil doesn’t come. Instead, he sends Fiadh… a woman who calls to Samiel’s heart and soul, but who he knows he can never, ever trust.

Fiadh lost everything a long time ago. Now she survives as best she can and tries to prevent anyone else from making the same mistakes. When she meets Samiel—with his deep core of goodness and his heated touch—she immediately recognizes that he could have been everything to her. But life has taught Fiadh the futility of wishing. She will never be free, but maybe, if she plays her cards exactly right, she can save Samiel.

If you love devilish bargains, fated soulmates, and cinnamon roll heroes (with big swords and a touch of broody angst) who fall fast for their courageous heroines, then “The Swordsmith and the Devil’s Dancer” is the paranormal romance novella for you.

Jennie Lynn Roberts believes that every kickass heroine should have control of her own story, a swoony hero to fight beside her, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Because that doesn’t always happen in real life, she began creating her own worlds that work just the way they should. And she hasn’t looked back since.

Jennie would rather be writing than doing anything else—except for spending time with her gorgeous family, of course. But when she isn’t building vibrant new worlds, she can be found nattering with friends, baking up a storm, or strolling in the woods around her home in England.

If you want to talk books, romance, movies, reluctant heroes, or just about anything else with Jennie, feel free to contact her on Facebook or Instagram But be prepared to settle in for a long chat if you bring up shifters, vampires, Star Wars, or The Princess Bride….

THE SWORDSMITH AND THE DEVILS DANCER was a quick read with some devilish bargains, an honorable MMC, and a bit of spice. I liked both Samiel and Fiadh as characters and thought they were sweet together. Because this was a short read (under 100 pages) they develop feelings for each other right away and things wrap up really easy but it was sweet.

The Swordsmith and the Devil's Dancer was a decent, quick read for me. I liked the characters and the world I got a glimpse of. The epilogue did raise some questions for me but that's settled.. for now at least.

Holy canolli!

This is a novella with the perfect blend of story and character engagement (with a little spice). I was sucked in from the start and not disappointed. Certainly worth a read if you've got a few minutes and/or need a good palete cleanser

Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is a short, some 90 pages, tale and given the epilogue, I'm hoping for so much more!

Roberts is relatively new to the writing scene, but she landed on her feet with the fantasy/paranormal genre and hasn't let up yet!

Samiel worked hard but his master always knocked him back. So Samiel knocked on wood and found himself making a deal with the devil. Said deal, though, gets him Fiadh, if only for a short time. But The Devil always wins his deals, one way or another.

I really enjoyed this. It's only short, took me about an hour, but it really packs a punch.

But what I'm most excited about, is the epilogue and where it might go, cos I have no idea whether this is the start to a new series, a random one off short to keep you hanging, or what!?!?!? And I love that. And I really really want to know where it might go for Samiel and Fiadh, and whether The Devil will get a say in possible future books. Because I honestly think that this might be the one deal he cannot win.

I really liked this book. I read it in one day.

Jennie Lynn Roberts writes great fantasy books.

This one is about this guy Sam that hasn't had it easy. His boss is a complete jerk and after he tells Sam to destroy a sword, Sam wished for his boss to die and go to Hell.

Sams wish is heard by the Devil and a beautiful girl named Fi shows up. Fi is also a girl that hasn't had an easy life, which made her make a deal with the Devil. But she still has her heart in the right place.

Seeing those two young people fall in love and trying to fight it is quite intriguing. Fi is truly a wonderful girl, and she does everything in her power to make sure that Sam doesn't make a deal with the Devil.

The Devil himself appears and, just as we think everything is lost, Sam makes a huge sacrifice, which ends up being what saves them both.

This book has action, love, and great characters. I can definitely recommend you to read it.

A different story to what I usually read but the book blurb sounded great, and I was not disappointed by the contents.
Fiadh (I had no clue how to pronounce this so I called her Fidah in my head) such a likeable character. I really felt the same way she did. My emotions soft of went the same way hers did. Her position felt very relatable.
And lovely Samiel. I understood the determination and pride. Whilst I also felt for his character and understood his feelings, he didn't move me the way Fiadh did.

Overall I really enjoyed this. A fairly short read, and I adore shorter reads. I do hope this has a second part, or expands the world introduced to us. I would love to see other characters journeys and experiences. This has so much potential if the author were to make a series or expanded universe/world.

This was a good short fantasy novella. The book follows Samuel who works for his master making swards. The night before he can take a step towards his future his master forbids it. Angrily he ends up summoning Fidh to make a deal with the devil.

This short story packs a great punch with some spice on the side. I enjoyed the characters and they have a lot of potential. The one thing I wish is that the characters were flushed out more. Not pushed together so quickly.

There were many really good parts to the book especially towards the end with Samuel, Fidh, and his master. The epilogue was perfect to make you want more.

Thank you Book Siren for the advance copy for free, and I am leaving a voluntary review.

I really enjoyed this book! Short, sweet, and steamy. ;)

Samiel was so sweet - a real cinnamon roll hero. He's stuck in a dead-end job, and in a fit of frustration, he calls upon the Devil (the literal DEVIL) for help. And in strolls… Fiadh.

I really liked how strong Fiadh is, and how she takes action to do what she thinks is right, no matter the personal consequences. I would love to learn more about her backstory.

The ending was so satisfying! I love how Fiadh and Samiel save each other - a recurring theme in Ms. Roberts's books, I find, and one that I enjoy a lot. ❤️

I look forward to reading the rest of this series, and Samiel's continuing confrontation with the Devil.

I enjoyed this novella! It was a quick, one sitting read for me. I was immersed into the world immediately. Samuel is just a big teddy bear that wants his dreams to come true, and Fiadh is lonely in the Abyss - trapped in a deal she made with the devil. Their connection is instant from the moment he opens the door, and they both fall hard. The epilogue has me begging for more! Great read.

I grabbed this book because of the cover and the title. I knew nothing else about it and I was surprised when I added this to my book app and realized it was only 90 pages. This was going to be an easy short read, which it was, but it was also very interesting and exciting!

I loved this book! We're making deals with the devil and finding passion and intrigue throughout this beautiful short story! There were only a few characters to keep track of and I loved Samiel and Fiadh.

I am looking forward to reading more from Jennie Lynn Roberts!

A short novella of around 90 pages is the ultimate addition to Roberts’ career. This didn’t take me too long to read as it was so short and I’m a fast reader, but it was just enough for a little bit of added spice to my day. This novella was the perfect read I needed, the perfect mix of character development and engagement with and the added addition of spice 🌶️

This is a thoroughly delightful short story and I loved every minute of it!

Quite apart from being beautifully written, this story is so rich in detail and character, it quite took my breath away. I could read pages and pages and pages of Roberts' writing. I would have loved if this story had been a full length book. I need so much more! I want Fiadh's story and then how the Devil tries to get them back!

An absolute must for anyone's Kindle collection. Short, sweet, and spicy!

There is always a catch when a Devil's bargain is made, and this one is quite good. I loved the characters and this short but different take on the topic. the relationship between Samiel and Fidah made this a wonderful short story, that has me hoping for more from this world! I Loved It. No Spoilers!

Wow I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting after receiving an ARC from BookSirens! A super sweet romance with some great revenge scenes. I especially liked reading this having the MMC as the 'normal' character and the FMC as the supernatural centuries old character who comes to rock their world. Would love to read and subsequent books that might follow!

A great Faustian tale.
I liked the flow.
Does have some spice.
It was what it needed to be. Nothing more and nothing less.
Loved what happens in the end to the swordsmith's boss and the little teaser and not the author talking about not reading past that point if they were happy with the ending.

A recommended reading 📖 Definitely!
It is a book that you would devour quickly, and I think the whole plot was very interesting.
However, for me, it lacked a bit more of action and maybe a build up romance between the characters but it was an amazing read.
