For over a year, I have been sneaking around to see my mystery man and warding off questions from my brothers and my mother about where I have been and who I have been with.
All I wanted was for the love of my life to stand up to his father and stand strong that we were to be together, but he couldn't do that.
Instead, he chose to believe his father's threats and just let me go.
Despite all my pleas, his visits became fewer and further between, until he stopped coming around at all.
So I never told him that I was pregnant.
I am still protecting his identity even after he betrayed me, thinking that he must be threatened and compelled to do so.
But when my father proved innocent, which was the reason his father banished my family, I was positive that once I told him, everything would change and we'd be welcome back. Except I got there just in time to hear his father announce Luke's engagement to someone else.
Now I'm resigned to raise this baby myself and just stay alone. I wish he was never my lover. I never wanted to my baby to grow up without a father because I had been in that pain for all these years.
Anger and pain is huge this time. Until I found out that the king had died and he is now in charge. Maybe we have another chance as there is no pressure of his father and dragon kingdom. But again, he doesn’t appear… leaving so many unanswered questions in my mind.
Why hasn't he come to find me? Is he really in love with this other woman? Will he ever gone find out about his baby? If yes, is he going to take the baby away from me?

Lies, Secrets, Betrayal, etc. No thanks. . . .
Sarah Hale is smothered under secrets. Of course she is keeping secrets too, or trying to except family likes to intrude as well. Sarah and Luke's relationship had an unfortunate beginning. She found her mate, they “did the deed” but he wouldn’t commit. She kept his identity a secret because her family would not accept him due to family issues going on. Then Luke disappeared, leaving her pregnant and she kept that a secret from him and everyone else.
When there seemed to be no further reason for Luke to stay away with the issue with Sarah’s family resolved, Sarah learns that his father announced his engagement to another woman. His father warns him he will kill whoever else he has been seeing if he won’t marry the woman chosen for him. Because Luke is now engaged to someone, Sarah decides to raise their baby alone without telling him. When the king dies, Luke is now the King but still does not contact her. Will she ever find out why? Will he ever find out he is a father?
Wow, lies, secrets, betrayal, and total lack of communication. This book is definitely not a “feel good” story. It was not to my liking for many reasons. Others may, and seem to have enjoyed it. But the deceit went on too long for me to like any of the characters.

I’m not sure I could be so forgiving with the man I loved that walked away and didn’t look back because he couldn’t stand up to his own father. Sarah Hale is a dragon shifter who’s family got exiled from the Scared Gardens Clan and her family are pushing her to take a mate but she doesn’t need to find a mate because she has been secretly been see him and nobody knows but now she finds herself pregnant but doesn’t get the chance to tell him because his father King Ardec of the scared gardens clan has threatened to kill who ever it is he is seeing if he doesn’t marry Kayleigh and announces there engagement and Sarah overhears this now hurt, confessed, angry, betrayed are just a few of things that have her running back home and moving on. Lucas (Luke) refuses to marry but the pressure from his father King Ardec has him pulling away from Sarah to keep her safe. Everything has changed now that his father has taken ill and not long after his sister Larisa returns he passes away and so now he is free and clear to marry his mate Sarah but will she want him after everything that’s happened. When he brings her back to Scared gardens that are confronted by Kayleigh who refuses to let him go and tells the both they will pay. Sarah now finds herself kidnapped by Kayleigh and stuck in the basement but can she get out and if not will Luke save her in time and do they get there HEA.

Sarah is 7 months along in her pregnancy, has always refused to name the father of her baby, for her own personal reasons and, has been feeling out of sorts for the last period of time. Meanwhile, the father of the baby (I will not name him to keep the suspense going) wants to be with Sarah but, coming from a distinguished family, an engagement has been secured with a well situated young woman that Luke does not love.
This is the love story of Luke and Sarah and the author, masterfully crafted this story that takes the reader back in time to where and the circumstances in which the two main characters met and, subsequently fell in love with one another. The plot is very well written and thought of and grips the reader right off the bat and keeps him or her turning pages as if the reader could not get enough of this story. The series has been one of the best that I have had the privilege to read this year and I highly recommend this book. Too bad that the story had to end.

Sarah's family was banished from the Sacred Gardens when her father was accused of stealing. Now years later Sarah meets Luke and knows he is her mate. However, his father is King, and they can't come out with their relationship out of fear. Luke ends things when he fears what his father will do to Sarah and her family. Sarah learns that she is expecting and tries to find him to tell him. Yet she is the one with the surprise she arrives just as his father is announcing Luke's engagement. Will they get a chance to be together?
This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

I honestly loved that this story wasnt all 100% forbidden relationship and secret baby. I loved that there was other storylines in the book that made it more realistic to everyday life, we got to see what all the characters do in their lives, and even though it's a dragon shifter book, it was real enough lives that it was very easy to get into. I really wish I had realized that this wasnt the first book in the series, because I would have started there, but oh well, I'll definitely go back to those. This was good enough that even though this was the very first book that I read from this author, I'll be looking into her other books.

Sarah and Luke’s relationship is complicated by his father being an inflexible ruler who refuses to admit any wrong. They keep it secret from EVERYONE. It was so sad to watch Sarah try to be strong for everyone while her heart breaks more every day. I love her family though. Poor Luke is trapped by his father and his title. There ends up being a big mystery to be solved to keep more people from dying before their time.

I ?over the way Ms. Banks was able to combine drama and mystery, with Romance and heartache to have everything work out for the primary characters I the end! Each trial was resolved smoothly, and each tribulation was corrected so smoothly that I just knew in the end they would come together without a hitch. Well, almost anyway! I loved the whole series and can't wait to read her other paranormal series'

Sarah and Luke's relationship was a secret from the very beginning. It's safe to say they are not off to a good start. Love might not be enough for these two. The extent of lies and betrayal runs deep within the royal family. Luke, however, will find a way to reunite with his mate. He will also make things right with her family and his kingdom. A great read full of answers we have been waiting for. This is my honest opinion of an advanced copy I received.

What a great read. I have to go back and read from the beginning of the books. This one is exciting, has twists and turns, so many emotions, danger and much more. She is not treated very good. But it has a lot involved and just when things look up more comes up. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Great, but left me with questions.
The book is a great read; however, I still have questions: how were people poisoned, who administered the poison, what kind of poison was used, and whatever happened with the doctor? I love mysteries, so those issues were not resolved in my mind. Otherwise, I can't wait for more from one of my favorite authors!

The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of Sarah and Luke and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with forbidden love, suspense, secrets and danger.

A quick suspenseful read with betrayals, lies, a forbidden romance and how families come together in time of need. Can be read as a standalone even though part of a series. Enjoyed the book and would recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.

The two main characters couldn’t be more in love even if it has to be kept secret. Unfortunately things never go the way they should for fated mates. There’s danger, murder, lies and betrayal….enough to keep you entertained and guessing.

This is the story of Sarah and Luke. This one is a rollercoaster of emotions, along with romance, danger, and some unexpected twists. I enjoyed this exciting and entertaining romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This dragon shifter has a lot to deal with. Mysterious death, surprise baby, and a kingdom. He seems to take it all in stride as does his lady. The grandma was kind of mysterious and I would have liked something cool to happen with her.
