The book's theme of women recovering their power and refusing to be held back by societal standards is well captured in the title and cover image. The reader is engrossed in the protagonist's trip thanks to the poetic and intriguing writing style. The book's structure is excellent, blending social critique and personal experiences in an effortless manner. Overall, the book went above and beyond my expectations, providing a compelling examination of woman and a message of resiliency.
Book: Me No Pause, Me Play Author: Manoj Kumar Sharma Formate: Kindle Edition Pages: 104 Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The story revolves around woman and womanhood and the best part is it's penned by a male author. The experience of a woman suffering from menopause can't be explained in any better way than what we have in this book.
Wow! What a wonderful plot, I am flabbergasted by the way the author has created this amazing book and the examples used are eye-openers to every person out there. This book is a must-read for all the men and women out there who really wanna have a happy and healthy life with their partner.
The book talks about mental health, menopause, hormonal changes, and feelings of ignorance. It also talks about the behavior of a man when he forgets his righteous duties towards his family and their wellbeing.
Rajat is a headstrong man with wrong priorities and neglects nature. He is a show-off man but in real life, he is an arrogant jerk and a heartless nuisance. He never showed any interest in his wife or children. His only focus was on his job and promotions. He wanted a submissive wife.
One fine day when he was at an official event, he got a call from his neighbor stating that his wife is in ICU in very critical condition. Even with such a horrendous situation, his first reaction was anger toward his wife for choosing a bad time to get seriously injured. And his focus was on promotion which was due after the event. He called his children but he never received any positive response due to his rude behavior and other situations.
Finally, Dr. Jasmona took the case into her hands and her way of treatment and decision-making abilities gave Dolly hope. How did she manage to improve her situation? What's her method of treatment? Why did she choose that method? And will Rajat ever understand the value of family and will be able to set his priorities right?
If you are interested in improving your life and cultivating better behavior then reading this book is a boon. It will give you a better picture of how menopause is very different for every other woman and also the symptoms which differ from woman to woman. For some, it's just as easy as the blink of an eye but for others, it's as terrible as a nightmare. Your life partner's support plays an important role in your life, always prioritize your duties, obligations, and responsibilities keeping your family in mind. You can always have a job again in life if you lose one but if you lose your loved ones, can never be brought back. So appreciate what you have rather than running behind worldly artifacts.
Even though at times it may seem like it, books are not just for entertainment or a means to pass our time, but rather they can be a great source for reflection, perspective, and learning, as well.
And regardless of whether we are on a quest of journey towards soul searching or we are simply striving to improve our life in every step of the way, books are something which will give us not only solace but the much needed salvation.
In such regards, ‘Me No Pause, Me Play’ by author Manoj Kumar Sharma is a great book that depicts the plight that women have to face every single moment, every single day of their lives.
The book begins with the introduction of Rajat, who whilst mid presentation recieves news about how his wife had been admitted to a hospital. Though initially shocked, we see how he carries resentment because rather than caring for his wife, he is more worried about his job.
While recuperating from her illness, Dolly learns the important lesson of self worth from her doctor and thus embarks upon a path that would not only boost her degraded morale, but also make her truly happy.
The author has managed to weave a tale that can only be described as simply marvelous, and it was stupendous to see the strength, courage, valor and the overall abilities of women, showing just how tough they really are.
The ending was a bit unconventional, if we are to look at it from societal standards, but since it does talk about breaking barriers, I liked how the involved parties had made peace with their situation and were living the life that suited them. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Me No Pause, Me Play by Manoj Sharma is a heartwarming story of three characters- Rajat, his wife, Dolly and a friendly doctor Jasmona. Rajat and Dolly are a couple in their fifties and their children settled in abroad. Rajat is a workaholic- too career-oriented to give importance to his children, wife and family. Dolly, on the other hand, is obliged to have followed the expectations of her rude, ill-mannered husband.
Everything comes to a pause when Dolly meets with an accident in her home, making her confined to the ICU bed for months at a stretch. With no immediate support from his children Rajat's irritation peaks with no definite solution. Things start to pace when Jasmona, the MD of the hospital takes the case in her hands and personally takes charge. It turns out that Dolly was suffering from hormonal issues that, in turn, affected her physical and mental health.
This book delves deep into the aspect of how women are neglected in their own homes by the people they expect the most.
Sharma's expressive storytelling takes a big dig into roles, emotional availability in partnership and m, most importantly t, topics like women's health and menopause. Though the writing is beginner-friendly and easily phrased still, I personally felt that this book, if explored more creatively with the story, would have been a much more impactful read.
'Me No Pause, Me Play ' brings out many more layers of human behaviour and is just a story.
'Me No Pause, Me Play' by Manoj Kumar Sharma is a moving account of a woman's transition through menopause and beyond. The story with sensitivity brings out Dolly's physical and emotional woes and her husband's indifference. The author writes an engaging tale that brings out the commonly ignored problems of women and how necessary empathy and care are.
The arrival of Jasmona, a humane physician, heralds a turning point, with a focus on the strength of care and empathy. Though the writing is simple, the novel succeeds in relaying its message regarding resilience and the importance of sensitivity by society and husbands towards women's health. The title itself is a witty play on words, representing sustenance of life and resilience.
Overall, it is a book that makes one think about marital relationships and the importance of women's health. I shall highly recommend this book to all. I read this book cover to cover in one go as I sipped coffee. Due to the skill of the author in writing, I could see the story unfolding before my eyes step by step. So grab your copy today and you will definitely enjoy reading it as much as I did.
What is menopause? It is a natural phase in every woman’s life that requires not just medical understanding but also emotional care and support. Me No Pause Me Play by Manoj Kumar Sharma beautifully highlights this sensitive subject through the story of Dolly and Rajat. Rajat, a man consumed by his business commitments, fails to give enough time to his wife. But when Dolly meets with an accident, their lives take a sudden turn. The entry of an angel named Jasmona adds a new perspective, sparking a revolution in Rajat’s thinking and making him realize the importance of being present for his wife. As the narrative unfolds, readers are kept hooked with warmth, emotions, and a powerful message—culminating in a big secret revealed at the end, one that makes the story even more compelling.
This book is not just about menopause—it’s about relationships, empathy, and the urgent need for awareness.
This book is a bold and necessary exploration of womanhood, menopause, and societal double standards told through the lens of a woman’s suffering and resilience.
The plot centers on Rajat, a businessman who works on products for women, who ignores his own wife, Dolly, while she is experiencing a serious health crisis. Thats when Dr. Jasmona helps and uses an unusual technique to treat Dolly's emotional and physical injuries to get her back to her normal life.
The concept is strong and deeply relevant, but i felt that the execution slowed down with inconsistent pacing and dialogue. Still, the core message was shining that is women deserve respect, care, and freedom.
This is a thought-provoking read, particularly for men, to understand the unspoken battles women fight daily
Me No Pause, Me Play is a story which will keep you intrigued till the very end.
The plot opens up with Rajat giving a speech at an event which has been organised to celebrate the Womanica company getting a good contract and in its lieu, Rajat goes on and on to narrate how the members of Womanica value women and what they want and that's what makes them best.
Cut to the next scene, we see him getting irritated at his wife for falling in the bathroom and fainting and further we see him trying his best to not have to stay in the hospital rather just get back to work as soon as possible.
The way the writer has depicted irony here is just great. Loved the book.
Me no pause, me play by Manoj Kumar Sharma is a really thoughtful and interesting take on women's health and their independence in this harsh world of dominating patriarchy. The concept of menopause, the love and care a woman deserves, the need for women to stand up for themselves, the importance of building a career and being independent is explained with great depth in this book with the help of a story of Dolly. Dolly is a lovely housewife of a self obsessed, orthodox male, Rajat. When she starts facing serious problems due to menopause, the changed behaviour of everyone surrounding her makes her question her self-worth. Then enters Dr.Jasmona, a self made woman who helps Dollynot only to heal physically but also mentally and make a self dependent woman out of herself. The language of the book is simple and clear. The message is projected beautifully through the story. The characters are stark personification of the dark, white and grey of our society. The cover is simple and apt for the story. The title is unique and eye catching. An informative read.
QOTD--- As a human, what do you think is the hardest part of life?
Book Name- Me no pause me play Author- Manoj Kumar Sharma Rating- 4/5 Review-
The book talks about the mental, physical and emotional struggles of a woman having a destructive menopause. And I loved how the title came from it, menopause— Me No Pause Me Play! This was such a creative idea! The woman, namely Dolly, is married to Rajat who is a successful businessman working with women’s products and boasting about how their services should give women comfort and build an emotional bond with them. On the other hand, he doesn’t care about his wife. The woman had an accident and was severely injured by the same and all Rajat thought and felt bad about was his so-called-promotion that was about to happen. And he curses his wife thinking she should have gotten injured at some other time! Head pats with a shovel to him from me<3
Then enters in the story a doctor named Jasmona, who is somehow connected to Rajat’s past and she builds an emotional connection with Dolly.
This was a fun read, I’ll say it depicted the situations women are in. The reality was slapped on the reader's face when the author talked about the inhumane ‘ she’ll adjust ‘ saying. How, a little softness in behavior can save you from a lot of troubles, can take someone out of misery.
Half of the beauty of a being comes from the way they treat others! I think this book clearly shows that money cannot get you everything. Even though Rajat and his wife were financially wealthy, they lacked peace, love, happiness and health, the biggest treasures of humankind
To be honest I didn't get the conversation between the parents and the children. Rajat's son sounds the same as the idiot he is and he just predicted things, and somehow those things were right so idk. It was like, he knew what was gonna happen, and knew as in he’s seen every step like a movie and now is gonna react Like father like son, could punch them both in the face
And then the story was quite annoying in the start and I wanted to throw the book away, but then as the story proceeded further it got better, it caught my attention and I started liking it! Overall, the starting could be changed a bit and the rest of the book was amazing. Like the characters which were supposed to be hated, I hated them so much for real and if they weren’t fictional i’d grab a shovel and clear their entire existence myself! ~Azmi
Me No Pause, Me Play is a fantastic story by Manoj Kumar Sharma. Mr. Manoj has highlighted the most important aspects of our lives that we almost neglect. This is a women-centric story that revolves around Rajat and Dolly. Rajat who is the protagonist of this story is always occupied in his corporate life and forgets to give enough time to his relationship and personal life. Mrs. Gupta was going through some crucial medical issues and was always in need of a partner who could support her in her tough time. This has a gripping storyline and an exciting plot that will stick you to flip the page until it ends. I would like to conclude that this story has contributed so much to our society and has a lot to teach us and will recommend every individual to give it a read. I will appreciate the efforts put in by Mr. Manoj.
It was eye-opening to read "Me No Pause, Me Play" by Manoj Kumar Sharma. The plot centres on Rajat and Dolly's lives, emphasising the difficulties Dolly endured as an Indian housewife and her battles with health problems. The book provides insight into the value of interpersonal connections and the necessity of giving them priority in the midst of hectic professional schedules. It also looks at the transformational process that women experience throughout adolescence and middle age.
I was really taken by Dr. Dave as a character. She had a significant part in Dolly's life and health, therefore her presence in the narrative was impressive. Dolly's utter helplessness and eventual metamorphosis into a miracle serve as a powerful reminder of the need of obtaining the correct support while dealing with personal struggles.
A celebration of inner strength and femininity. Loved how the author portrayed transformation as a journey, not a destination. You walk with the protagonist, and you grow with her. It's amazing how this book blends deep social commentary with personal healing. The way womanhood is portrayed—layered and unapologetic—is what sets this novel apart.
I did not expect that this book would unravel me. But it did silently, completely.
It started with Dolly.
A woman of 50. A wife. A mother. A soul lost in the spaces in between sacrifice and silence. She was not extraordinary by the world's standards, but to me she was everything. Because I saw myself in her. I saw the thousand little spaces a woman erases from her own home and stays at the center of it anyway.
Dolly is married to Rajat, a man who believes giving is loving. A man who never once paused to consider whether his wife needed something more than a roof, food, and money. A man who assumed that her needs terminated at motherhood and domesticity. But in Dolly, a storm was brewing. An unseen destruction. The weight of being invisible in the one place where she had given everything, her body, her mind, her time, her dreams.
And then. menopause arrived.
It did not knock. It burst in. Like a thief in the night, stealing from her peace, her sleep, her sense of self. But it did not steal only hot flashes and mood swings, it stole a mirror. A mirror that showed her to herself the empty form her life had become. A woman, vanishing.
But this is not a story of vanishing.
This is a story of fire.
In walks Jasmona and oh, what a woman she is. She is not just Dolly's friend. She is her lifeline. Her mirror. Her challenger and her champion. I think we all need a Jasmona in our lives someone who will not let us fade into nothing. Someone who sees the pain behind the polite smile and says, "No. You don't have to live like this."
She saw Dolly. When Rajat didn’t. When even Dolly didn’t.
Jasmona’s confrontation with Rajat was one of the most powerful moments I’ve read in a long time. She wasn’t cruel, but she was honest. She reminded him and all of us that love isn’t a transaction. That presence is not enough. That karma isn’t just a word, it’s a weight. And it will find you.
And slowly, something shifted in Dolly.
Not all at once. Not like a melodrama. But like a woman remembering herself.
She began to choose herself. To reclaim the borders of her life where she had once whispered and started to speak. Out loud. Whole. Inexcusable.
Each chapter Paused, Past, Plan, Played, Pinnacle felt like a lifetime unto itself. I lived there. I wept. I grinned. I nodded in wordless assent when Dolly boldly felt again. Boldly hoped. Boldly dreamed of a self apart from service.
This was not menopause. This was renewal.
It's peculiar, isn't it? How something the world perceives as an "ending" can be the deepest beginning of all? Menopause didn't destroy Dolly. It destroyed the illusions she was stuck in. It revealed to her that her life was still hers to live not merely survive. That she could still play, laugh, dance, cry, create… be.
This book made me feel understood.
As a woman who's known what it's like to give and give and give until there's nothing more. As a woman who's sat in the darkness with unspoken grief. As a woman who's also known light in the voice of another woman.
And what moved me even more?
That this tale so raw, so female, so delicate was written by a man.
Manoj Kumar Sharma did something unexpected. He hasn't written about women. He listened to them. He honored their inner lives with a sensitivity that is unexpected and incredible.
His writing doesn't shout. Doesn't sensationalize. It resonates. And it resonated me more than I ever thought a hundred-page book could.
So yes, Me No Pause Me Play is a book. But to me, it was something more.
It was a reflection. A salve. An appeal to rise.
To all the women who have ever been silenced, who have ever been told to be thankful, to compromise: this book is your anthem. To all the men who wish to better understand the women he is with: this book is your bible.
To me, it was a reminder that even at our worst moments, we are strong beyond measure.
And that the pause… is but the beginning of the play.
Womanhood is not a pause; it is a movement, a play, an ever-evolving force.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5/5)

Some stories don’t just narrate an incident they open a window into lives often left unspoken. Me No Pause, Me Play by Manoj Kumar Sharma is one such story.
It dares to touch a subject many shy away from: the complexities of menopause, not as a medical phase alone, but as a deeply emotional, relational, and societal journey.
At the heart of the story is Dolly, a woman in her early fifties, navigating the turbulent waters of menopause. Her case is rare, her survival chances almost negligible. A tragic fall leaves her paralyzed, compounding the already overwhelming challenges of her condition. Yet, it is in this darkest corner of her life that light begins to enter through the compassionate guidance of Dr. Jasmona, the MD of the hospital where Dolly is admitted. Dr. Jasmona’s approach is strikingly holistic.
Beyond the boundaries of medicine, she addresses Dolly’s emotional quotient, spiritual strength, and mental resilience. Physiotherapy, yoga, and medical treatment are interwoven with empathy and encouragement.
What unfolds is a breathtaking transformation: Dolly not only recovers but also rises stronger than before culminating in her triumphant participation in a marathon, where she wins a medal. Her victory is not just on the track but over life itself.
But the narrative doesn’t stop at Dolly’s health. It holds a mirror to Indian households, revealing the silent struggles of countless women. The book bravely discusses themes of marital neglect, disrespect, even marital rape, and the quiet depression many women endure unknowingly.
In Dolly’s journey, readers witness the painful arc of her marriage with Rohit initially an ambitious, emotionally distant husband, later transformed into a caring partner after Dr. Jasmona makes him realize the true role of a husband during menopause.
The storytelling is layered with social commentary. It reminds us that menopause isn’t just a medical condition it is also shaped by the environment a woman lives in, the respect she receives, and the support of her partner and family. The book becomes not only a survival story but also a call for awareness, empathy, and responsibility.
⭐ Rating: For its content, I would confidently give this book 4 stars. And for the spirit it ignites the courage to inspire women to chase their dreams even in the later stages of life I add another star. That makes it a glowing 5/5.
📖 Final Verdict: Me No Pause, Me Play is not merely a book; it’s a conversation every family should have. A must-read for women yes but perhaps even more importantly, for men. Because understanding menopause is not just about supporting a woman’s health, it’s about reshaping relationships, nurturing respect, and giving space for women to truly thrive.

In 'Me No Pause, Me Play', an accident puts a woman on an enlightening path of self-discovery and self-realization, helping her achieve her lost self-respect back with the help of a doctor. The same accident lifts the veil from her dysfunctional family, revealing the dual nature of her husband. On one hand he runs a successful company dealing with women, on another, he abuses his wife at home, even going as far as trying to inflict marital rape on her.
Rajat, awaiting promotion to Managing Director, is disturbed amidst an important presentation of his company 'Womanica Worlds'. Someone is calling him. Turns out his wife Dolly fell down in the bathroom and is now in critical condition, admitted in ICU. Instead of feeling pain or sympathy, he is filled with callousness. His feelings are reflected in these lines: "He cursed Dolly for falling into this dire situation at such an important moment of his life—when he was on the verge of getting a much-awaited promotion to the highest position in the company as Managing Director"
When he talks to his son and daughter, he learns that his daughter-in-law and his daughter, both are pregnant and he didn't have any inkling about that. He's not even in the family WhatsApp group. When he tells his son to not talk to him rudely, he answers: “Since my childhood, I have seen you talking like this only, with Mummy, Anjali and me.”
In the story, the author deftly shows us the cracks in a family that seems normal from outside. Rajat is a man who's professionally successful but his family life is in tatters and he himself is responsible for that. But will he learn any lesson from this? Will his wife recover from her paralysed condition? Suffering from severe Menopause, will she ever be able to hit the play button back on her life? You have to read the story to find out the answers.
The story uncovers the patriarchy and callousness in the men's attitude and it is this style of storytelling that keeps the readers hooked until the very end. I loved the character of Jasmona and her three way connection with Rajat and Dolly.
With a simple story of short pages, the author Manoj Kumar Sharma has given a perfect story to make all other men in this world to realize the unique importance of women in their lives. The author took a different plot to describe the circumstances, the life changes, biological challenges, age factors and emotional disturbances, all through the one simple and short story. Not only insisting the importance of women and also inspiring all the women to move on from all their adverse situations.
Usually authors will take a plot and storyline from very young age lives to make the readers more interesting and energetic. But Manoj has done a great job by taking the old age challenges of women which is a Menopause stage, where she has to go through a lot of emotional, physical and biological challenges within her.
Life will be okay for a woman before her marriage. Once she gets married, the new phase of her life will lead to face many challenges. And then once the children enter her life, the responsibilities, priorities, care and love, everything changes. Along with the change in her body and mind, she has to move on freely to meet the expectations of the same from all other relationships from the family.
Whatever the world changes, the world within the family of her will never change even in this millennium too. The author put this point forward and explained nicely through this wonderful story by the theme of "ME NO PAUSE, ME PLAY" which says women has to live her life, will never give up for anything to pause her life.
The language is easy to comprehend. The plot is simple yet amazing. The storyline is purposeful. The narrative part is interesting and the writing style is engrossing. The characters are built strong and nicely presented. The title and the cover of the book is unique. The author beautifully depicted a gripping story till the end, though the surprise in the characters and the storyline can be predicted. Some of the vocabularies are rich and rare, we can learn it. Glossaries at the end will also be helpful to understand better.
The author never missed any message, any characters, any circumstances or any simple things to come up with the theme of the book. Perfectly done and appreciable for the fantastic work for the author.
Highly recommended to those who love woman very much and who forgot to respect her in their life too to understand her very well in all her stages.
Manoj Kumar Sharma's "Me No Pause, Me Play” upon womanhood and the female experience via the Social Kaleidoscope. This book is the most beautifully written work ever and is exclusively devoted to women, who make up half of the world's population, and their sufferings at the hands of a family and society that doesn't understand them. Through a single, brief narrative, the author used a varied plot to illustrate the conditions, life changes, biological difficulties, age-related problems, and emotional disorders. Not only promoting the value of women, but also encouraging all women to overcome all of their challenging circumstances.

This book’s story is revolved around 50 year old woman Dolly and her husband Rajat. Rajat, the Deputy Managing Director of Womanica Worlds, receives a call from his secretary notifying him that his wife has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), and he is furious about it because he is about to be promoted to the position of Managing Director. A doctor called Jasmona works at the hospital where Dolly is hospitalised and she just so happens to have dated Rajat in the past. Dolly experiences the worst menopausal symptoms, which have the potential to cause life-threatening circumstances and need thorough care for dealing with change. The book explains how it is blatantly negligent of individuals to believe that going through menopause is as simple as carrying out a regular task. The shift in their lives and physique is significant and unpleasant. It explains how women might adapt to changes while still leading stressful lives.
My Review and Opinion On The Book
Even though the narrative is brief, it has a point. You might enjoy it if you value your family, message and all. Writing is clear and uncomplicated. The book is a much-desired attempt to make a positive difference for women in our society, who are real pillars rather than simply objects of male desire. It is really simple to read and comprehend. You will be shocked by the book as you learn many things that you never would have thought about. The narrator is fairly nice, the book moves along at a smooth pace, and it isn't overly long so you can complete it quickly.
In conclusion, YOU MUST READ THIS. I suggest reading this book since it was well-written and will be pleasurable for you to do so. It is absolutely worthwhile to read and purchase this book. Guys, just do it.
"Me No Pause, Me Play" by Manoj Kumar Sharma is a captivating exploration of womanhood and the multifaceted experiences of women in society. Through a unique blend of storytelling and social commentary, Sharma brings to light the intricacies of navigating life as a woman and challenges the prevailing norms and expectations imposed upon them.
The book invites readers to embark on a journey through the lives of its characters, each representing different aspects of womanhood. With a keen eye for detail and a masterful ability to evoke emotions, Sharma portrays the struggles, triumphs, and resilience of these women. The narrative goes beyond mere victimhood, offering a nuanced portrayal of their strength and agency in the face of adversity.
What sets "Me No Pause, Me Play" apart is Sharma's ability to address the deep-rooted patriarchy and misogyny that persist in society while also exploring the complex interplay of gender, power, and identity. The author challenges traditional notions of femininity and highlights the importance of breaking free from societal expectations. Sharma reminds us that women are not defined solely by their roles as mothers, daughters, or wives but are multifaceted individuals with dreams, desires, and ambitions.
Furthermore, the novel delves into the concept of self-belief and the transformative power it holds. Sharma emphasizes the potential for women to rewrite their narratives and create their own destinies, defying the limitations imposed upon them. The protagonist's determination to overcome societal constraints serves as an inspiration to readers, encouraging them to embrace their own unique journeys.
In "Me No Pause, Me Play," Sharma masterfully weaves together themes of empowerment, resilience, and the pursuit of self-actualization. The prose is poetic and thought-provoking, inviting readers to pause and reflect on the societal structures that perpetuate inequality. The author's passion for advocating gender equality shines through every page, urging readers to challenge the status quo and actively participate in dismantling oppressive systems.
Overall, it is an empowering and thought- provoking novel that celebrates the indomitable spirit of womanhood. Author’s insightful storytelling and poignant characterization make this book a compelling read for anyone interested in exploring the intricacies of gender dynamics and the transformative power of self-belief.
The author begins by dedicating the novel to his mother and all women and acknowledging his gratitude to his family and country.
Hence, you get an instant vibe of a women-oriented/women empowering tale.
Even the pinkish book cover (I don't who said pink is a feminine colour — typical typecasting) looks pleasing to the eyes, with a woman in pink breaking the door and moving forward to conquer the world looks appropriate and motivational.
And that's what the story is about — patriarchy, discrimination, domestic abuse, male chauvinism, and what not — told through the characters of a wife and an ex-lover.
An interesting concept to teach lessons to men around the world who use women just as a sexual object or a baby-churning machine.
And there ends the excitement.
I don't know why the story takes place in 2025. Why not 2022 (the year the book was published). What difference/impact does it make to the story? I am not sure. Did the editor informed it?
Rajat Khanna, a high-level corporate professional, gets a call during a meeting and is told that Dolly, his wife, is admitted in ICU.
He is heartbroken, not because of his wife's health but because of his promotion coming to an abrupt halt.
As the days turn into weeks, weeks into months, there is no improvement in Dolly's health condition.
Being frustrated, he directly rushes towards hospital MD's room, where he is hit by a shocking surprise — the MD is Jasmona, Rajat's first love.
Jasmona promises to operate Dolly and remove the blood clots from the brain, and find the cause for her fall in the bathroom, which resulted in the current situation in ICU.
Once Jasmona comes to know about Dolly's ailment, combined with the constant stress of menopausal problem and unloving husband, she devises a ridiculous plan to cure Dolly with the help of Rajat itself.
This was the moment the story lost its plot, rather I lost interest, even though I continued with a glimmer of hope.
The whole of chapters 'Plan' and 'Played' felt amateurish and filmy.
The writing went from okayish to poor — another novel (first draft) that's presented to the readers to consume with no pains taken to edit and proofread.
You may all pretty well guess the ending — nothing to rave about.
Even though the story had a good scope to make it as an engaging read, it fails miserably in execution.
📖💬 Book Review: Me No Pause, Me Play by Manoj Kumar Sharma ✨ Genre: Fiction | Women's Health | Social Awareness
Every once in a while, you come across a book that makes you pause and reflect — Me No Pause, Me Play is one such novel.
Written by one of my favourite authors, Manoj Kumar Sharma, whose earlier work Hi God, How Are You? had already impressed me — this book once again showcases his gift for blending socially relevant topics into powerful fictional storytelling.
🧠💗 This novel boldly centers around a subject that’s often brushed under the carpet — menopause. Through the life of the protagonist Dolly and her husband Rajat, the author sheds light on the emotional, physical, and psychological turmoil that many women silently endure during this phase of life.
Dolly is like so many women — juggling daily responsibilities while struggling with hormonal changes. Meanwhile, Rajat is caught up in his corporate rat race, unaware of the storm his wife is going through. That disconnect becomes painfully clear when Dolly suffers a medical emergency, landing her in the hospital.
🏥 It’s here that the story takes a beautiful turn. A compassionate doctor — someone who truly understands the real impact of menopause on a woman’s body and soul — not only treats Dolly but also opens Rajat’s eyes. What follows is an emotional awakening, filled with empathy, realizations, and heartfelt moments.
💫 What I absolutely admire about this book is how fiction is used as a medium to deliver awareness. The story doesn’t preach. Instead, it invites you to feel, relate, and grow with the characters. It captures the struggles of countless women, and also shows how men can become allies simply by understanding and caring.
The writing is simple, emotional, and extremely impactful. You don’t need to be an expert to understand menopause — this book guides you with compassion and clarity through a subject often ignored in mainstream fiction.
🌺 Me No Pause, Me Play is fiction with a purpose — a must-read for both men and women. Especially if you care about relationships, emotional well-being, and women’s health.
🙏 Kudos to Manoj Kumar Sharma for once again writing something that truly matters.
📚 Highly recommended if you enjoy fiction that touches lives and challenges taboos.
In today’s world, Gender Equality and Women Empowerment are the buzzwords. But what is preached is hardly practiced. Patriarchy and misogyny still exist and women are still exploited across the world. Me No Pause, Me Play” is a captivating story that sheds a light on the rampant misogyny and patriarchy in society in a unique way.
Me No Pause, Me Play is the story of Rajat, Dolly, and Dr. Dave. Rajat and Dolly are a married couple for 30 years. Rajat is a workaholic who doesn’t pay attention to his wife’s needs. One day, Dolly gets really sick and has to be hospitalised. Even Rajat’s family has abandoned him due to his worst nature and things are looking bleak for Dolly. This is when Dr. Dave enters the picture and takes the case in her hands. Her way of treatment and decision-making abilities gave Dolly hope. Dr. Dave combines conventional modern-day medical science and alternative treatments to rebuild Dolly’s self-esteem and emotional state. Using an innovative blend of IQ, EQ, and SQ, Dr. Dave resurrects Dolly’s life and this is the remarkable story of Dolly’s healing journey.
This book shows the dark reality and hypocrisy of the patriarchal society which preaches women's equality but where women are treated in a most awful manner. The book highlights the problems which women face and does not shy away from talking about uncomfortable topics like mental health, menopause, hormonal changes, and patriarchy. More importantly, this book stresses on how mental and emotional recovery is as important as physical recovery for the well-being of a person.
The ME + NO + PAUSE in the title is a clever wordplay on Menopause means I will never pause in life in any adverse situations in life. ME + PLAY means, I will keep on playing in life. The book has a positive message to never give up in the face of adversity and that’s the biggest takeaway from the book I loved.
Overall, Me No Pause, Me Play is a remarkable book that not only highlights the plight of women but also gives an optimistic message. The author manages to convey simple learnings of strength and courage without getting preachy. The engrossing narrative and powerful story will resonate with the readers for a long time.
I am definitely talking about no one other but Manoj Kumar Sharma sir. Who has been a role model for all readers and budding writers too. He has written this masterpiece not just for his satisfaction of writing but also to make an ideological change among all of us. Specially to all those, who are bounded to numerous of orthodox and unawareness. This book talks about a very common and very much prevailing problem in life of female. This problem affects the person mentally, physically and socially in all manners. Author has done a revolutionary work for thought process of a common man just like all renowned authors like, who has been there for society and social issues. And the best part for the book to mention is that he has slammed the saying that 'woman is an obstacle to women's life', as he has marked up or portrayed a lady character like Jasmona to change the game and to support the victim of the whole story. Author has done extraordinary job this field as he has raised a topic that was never before in pages of the book in the form of such a brilliant fiction story, not just to read but also to teach. This book is a perfectly defined and compiled novel with titles of the chapters like making a chronological essence of empowerment. Every chapter has it's own charm of crux. This book also tells us the importance of meditation and yogic healing alongwith medical procedures. It has raised surreal sense of hospital, medicines, and all other moments like it was seriously lived in soul of readers and authors. It will make you cry and empower you to the fullest. I will no doubt going to keep this book in list of masterpieces and definitely suggest you to go grab your copy now. And at the same time I am thanking the author for such a wonderful book and a novel that is empowering women, and it will last for several decades.
Excellent, fabulous are some apt words for this book.
I recently finished reading this very powerful & thought provoking book that really impressed me. No matter if you're a woman or a man, you should at least once in your life read this book. It's going to change the way you think, and you'll learn many important things. The central idea of this book is about how we see menopause, what it can do to a woman, and how we should actually see this through a positive POV. It says that menopause is not the end, no matter what the circumstances are, you shouldn't stop, you should keep going.
So, the story revolves around a woman named Dolly, in her 50s, who's navigating menopause, depression, loneliness, and neglect, while her husband Rajat is emotionally unavailable or distant. It shows patriarchy here. I also loved how a woman can be a woman's strength and power. Like people often say that women are women's enemies, but actually, if you read this and see it from a positive POV, then you'd know that it's actually not.
I really loved the character of Jasmona, every woman deserves a friend like her. She becomes the light of Dolly, & she's the one who brings her out of her situation. I loved when she intervenes in Dolly's condition and her husband's indifference, she gives a lesson to him and a reminder to us that "You receive the same that you give to others, as your karma always finds you, no matter what." What I loved reading most about this book is that the one who wrote this book is a man, not a woman, how impressive it is right?
I loved how the author isn't shy about writing everything about womanhood from an open mind. This also shows how he understands a woman. The writing style is easy to understand and is very engaging. This book has only five chapters and 100 pages, which you can finish in a day. This book is also about self discovery and resilience. The story and characters are relatable.
Overall, this is a must read for anyone looking for a story that resonates and inspires. It's going to leave a lasting impression on you for a long time. And it's a story that's going to stay with you long after you finish reading it. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a thought provoking and an impactful read.
This story revolves around Woman and Womanhood through lenses of Social Kaleidoscope. The essence of this story is overcoming the intricacy and complicacy of Womanhood through innovative measures with calculated risks.Though since ages wise men never ever denied the unique importance of Women in their lives, but, at the same time couldn’t restrain from autocratic patriarchy and disguised misogyny.Even Nature’s unworded Laws cruelly dumped Women after manipulating them to the fullest.
How long Woman will have to continue bearing the ongoing sufferings? Nobody knows, even Woman herself…But, there are exceptions as well sometimes…One key protagonist takes the Woman sufferings as challenge, and, not only resolves the physical health and mental agony, but, unexpectedly raises the bar to the next level of inspirational excellences…
Review: 👉Talking about the title of the book, the title of the book is really so interesting to read.
👉The cover is appealing and attractive as well.Writing style is appreciable .Menopause" is something that woman experiences spprox after 45-50 years, the hormonal changes occurs & completely put a toll on menstruation. The story revolves around 3 characters, Dolly, Rajat Khanna & Dr. Jasmona Dave. The main protagonist of the story is Dolly, a housewife who had a happy married life during the initial years but then things went haywire. Rajat Khanna, her husband, a businessman completely unaware of the problems, both mental & physical faced by Dolly in this period. Then arrives, Dr. Jasmone Dave, as an angel in life of Dolly who helps her in survival. This book is simply amazing, an important message is buried underneath. Now I gotta know about how suitable the title is "Me-no-pause". From surviving & fighting her fears to converting herself into champion, it is such an inspiring story of Dolly and reflects onto the entire womanhood outta there.
We are aware of the health afflictions women face because of menstruation but a deadlier consequence can be expected from Menopause when a woman hit her 40s and the uterus undergoes changes. The issue is very few people are aware of what is menopause and what can be the consequences. We have women folks in our house, but we are not fully aware of the changes and pain they undergo. The author has highlighted an issue of paramount concern through his fictional storyline of Me No Pause, Me Play. Dolly is a housewife in her 50s who has spent the larger part of her life taking care of the needs of her husband, Rajat, and raising their kids. As and when Rajat started climbing the ladder of success, he started taking Dolly for granted and felt entitled to her cater to all his whims even if she is sick. The author has poignantly highlighted this issue which is prevalent in majority of the households in India. Even in household which does not treat women as a 2nd class citizen, the awareness regarding the health complications faced by women due to hormonal imbalance is next to nil. I liked the way the author developed a storyline to raise consciousness on this issue which has more impact than a non-fiction book documenting this issue. The writing style is precise, simple, and easily understandable which can be consumed by readers from all strata of the society. The author has done a good job in realistically portraying the dynamics between couples, especially of the previous generation and the millennials where the roles were rigid, and expectations were set as to the responsibilities of the males and females of the house. I also liked the subtle way the author tried to play with the word ‘Menopause’ for his title. The author wants to send a message to all women that Menopause should not be an encouragement to pause their life and aspirations. It is the right time to continue to spread your wings and keep soaring.
Overall, I would like to give 4 stars mostly because of the salient effort made by the author to raise awareness about an open secret that people like to brush under the carpet.
"Me No Pause, Me Play" is an empowering novel that delves into the complexities of womanhood and challenges the societal norms that have suppressed women for centuries. Through a unique lens of a social kaleidoscope, the author explores the struggles and triumphs of women, offering a fresh perspective on their experiences. While the book addresses serious topics, it also infuses moments of beauty and inspiration, reminding readers of the strength and resilience inherent in women.
The book tackles the dichotomy between the acknowledgement of women's importance in society and the prevalence of patriarchal dominance and hidden misogyny. It sheds light on the intricate web of societal expectations and the manipulation women face, leading to their ongoing suffering. The author poses the question of how long women must endure these hardships, capturing the uncertainty that even women themselves face.
However, amidst these struggles, the narrative introduces a key protagonist who embraces the challenges of women's suffering. This character not only seeks to address physical and mental agony but also strives to surpass societal limitations, reaching new heights of inspirational excellence. Through their belief system, the protagonist becomes a symbol of empowerment, demonstrating that anything is possible with determination and perseverance.
The strength of "Me No Pause, Me Play" lies in its ability to explore complex social issues while offering a message of hope and resilience. The author encourages readers to question the status quo and challenge traditional notions of gender roles. The narrative inspires women to reclaim their power and agency, breaking free from the constraints imposed by society.
Overall, "Me No Pause, Me Play" is a captivating exploration of womanhood, challenging societal norms, and inspiring women to rise above their circumstances. It is a call to action, urging readers to reconsider their perspectives on gender roles and to create a world where women can play an active and empowered role in shaping their own destinies. This novel serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the potential for positive change in our society.
