After the EMP, the land rush is on. Food. Supplies. People. It will all be claimed.
Frank survived one expedition out into the world, but he'll need to do it many more times if he wants his people to survive.
He starts by searching for another of the rare working vehicles still on the road. More cars mean more supplies.
Every trip out comes with risks. He soon finds abandoned military roadblocks, competing bands of survivors, and average people getting ever more desperate.
When he stumbles on a group of teens still hunkered down at the high school, he comes face to face with the grim reality stalking them all. It will soon be 'kill or be killed' throughout the land...
Frank saves who he can...
His group continues to grow.
Before the end of the day, Frank will learn of the dark forces already lining up against him on the outside.
Someone out there has seen what one man can build, and someone out there would like nothing more than to knock it all down.
E.E. Isherwood has been a storyteller for over 30 years. Initially the muse took the form of childish comic strips. As a teen it manifested itself under the guise of Dungeons and Dragons adventures. In college it culminated with a Master's thesis on Missouri geography—an extremely boring kind of story. Three decades and several careers later he realized that siren song never stopped, so he began to author books. A life-long enthusiast of apocalyptic fiction, writing about zombies was his passion. Future titles in science fiction and fantasy are in the hopper. He lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where his series of zombie books takes place.
I like the story, the level of danger mixed with some relationship growth between friends, different neighborhoods, possible romances. Good characters and pacing. Plan to read the whole series.
A well written, thought provoking series. How would you handle things if the power went out for weeks months or years? Books like this are well worth reading for the "what if" value.
I really appreciate the storyline throughout this series. The things happening that could/would really happen and the creative ways of dealing with them. I am definitely enjoying the story and would recommend.
This continues to be a good series, and is well written with good editing. One editing issue was when Frank converses with Zen again to shore up their alliance and notes that Trevor's subdivision was a mirror of his...Trevor was a resident of his subdivision and was there no longer, so I think it should have been Zen's subdivision in the reference. I still really like how much the Clownfish neighborhood works together and gets other adjacent groups to cooperate. My other quibble is that this is just three days from the event, but the level of deterioration seems more akin to a week or more. Maybe Florida would just fall apart more quickly, but it seems rather extreme. I do look forward to the next book.
I love that the main character is older than the usual 20 something guy. However the main character is starting this disaster a bit ahead of the curve. The books are also fast only covering a few days at most. On the up side it really covers what needs to occur to keep you and your people alive in a disaster. The element of having to get everyone to work for the common good is much more difficult than people believe. This author does a good job showing how hard that is.
I couldn't put book 3 down. Frank and his neighbors are adding more people to the neighborhood. Helping more and more people in distress while fighting off evil. This author knows how to make you care for the characters and believe the story could happen. Book 4, here I come.
Frank is the ultimate and consonant urban planner and protector of people. Frank needs to know when and how to move and how to prepare people Years Of running his trucking company No no 1 want to look for and what not to look He seems to be able to get people to move in his direction and make them see the big picture I like frank.
You talk and plan, hoping everything will work out. When it does. You wonder if you were lucky or the plan worked. Frank can't seem to catch a break. He feels like he has to stay on his toes all the time. Otherwise he could be responsible for someone's death.
Frank, Carmen as well as the others in the neighborhood learn how to survive after a EMP attack happens. Society falls apart within a couple of days. Murdering groups take from families and kill to get what they want.
This series sure makes for good reading. I think Frank and Carm make a great couple. What started out with a few neighbours is turning out to be the whole subdivision.
Well...that was exciting. Took longer to read because I wanted to draw out the suspense. The writing continues to be spot on. The scenarios are well developed and logical. Am really enjoying this series. On to book 4.
Tale continues in fine form. More adventures in the neighborhood! Character development continues and more people that bring further options armed added. Good work, Sir!
Continue to be fascinated by the way the author jumps from one crisis to the next without a break in your attention span. He seemingly makes each move with the hero just blundering his way through with no real plan in mind, but succeeds in spite of himself.
Great story. Women. Men. Struggling. Surviving. And some quickie at the end. Oh yeah. Old cars, and guns. Lots of guns. Keeps the storyline flowing and makes the reader want to find out what happens next. Great job! On to book 4
Another truly wonderful book in this series. I'm okay if it never ends. I find myself actually slowing down my reading speed so I can really savor every bite.
