Now Available in ebook and paperback! Mars needs Black women! Well, not Mars exactly, but a planet called Rakesh. All of the female creatures on Rakesh died during a plague, and now the Rakesh males have no mates. If they don't find mates soon, their species will die. Finding mates won't be easy. Only Black females from Earth will do. This novel first appeared in serial form on Kindle Vella.
I’m always down for a good paranormal romance by an African American author or in this case science fiction. This read was mid at best. The story line had potential but didn’t quite meet the mark for me. A group of highly educated professional women on a plane headed to a conference but abducted in air by aliens. The alien prince of Rakesh gets wind of the illegal abduction and takes the ten women into his care. His dilemma, try and return the women to earth or convince them to stay, marry and procreate with the men of Rakesh. It took very little for the MFC to adapt and fall for the alien prince and the chemistry between the two was lukewarm. I also didn’t get enough on the side characters to make me want to read their stories in the remainder of the series.
Estelle is a big shot and is on a plane heading to do important things when she and all of the other Black women are abducted by aliens. She and the other women band together and adopt a sort of wait and see approach to their abduction, the most important thing they agree is to stay alive. Abrax is Rakesh and enters the picture when he comes across the women set to be sold by another Rakesh. Earth voyages are highly illegal where he's from so he takes the women to his father's and the high council. As Prince, Abrax should have some pull but his father throws him in jail with the women. Unfortunately the women are told they can't go back home and just have to deal. Since all of the Rakesh women died of some plague, the king sees the women as an opportunity to procreate. Eventually Abrax and Estelle make a life together and the book ends.
I thought the writing style was distracting and I couldn't suspend my disbelief. The women got translator chips but everyone sounded the same with Earth colloquialisms, turns of phrase, and speech patterns, including the Rakesh. I would've expected certain things not to translate well and require some language barrier adaptation or confusion but nope. So as not to spend too much time on a book I didn't enjoy, I'll just end with saying there was potential but I couldn't appreciate the author's storytelling.
I thought it was a cute read. Some things I thought could be thought out a little more. Like an alien who’s never been to earth saying a** but calls his members phalluses. I’m sure at least one of the women were married, have children or at least in a relationship. Zora, Ivy and Jamila were all kind of annoying. The bombs dropped at the end were good! Felt incomplete.
Why is he in succession if he has older siblings? How long was the hibernation? Bracelet around her ankle. You mean anklet? Some grammatical errors.
Highlights: I'm so hyped for an alien romance series where EVERYONE IS BLACK! Estelle and Abrax were sweet. There were some nice conversations between them as they grew to like and understand each other. There was some interesting world-building as there was politics involved and a disease that wiped out all the women on the planet.
Lowlights: I'll be honest and just say I did not like this book. The insta-lust was very evident even for side characters and done in an illogical way. Estelle I understood had a growing connection with Abrax but Zora? I thought there was going to be a fated mates type explanation for her behavior but she was literally just horny. It also would've made the women getting paired up with random alien men less forceful in my eyes. They got kidnapped and essentially paired off to strangers without any choice. Plus I didn't understand how less than a dozen women were going to repopulate an entire race of people. Side-note: I hated the "ancient aliens" connection to Egypt. I get some people don't understand it's based in white supremacy but it still is. Every non-european advanced ancient civilization is theorized to have been helped by aliens while civilizations at the same time such as the Romans are never theorized like this. It's one of those things that seem incoxus but aren't.
Horn Level: 3/5🌶️
Format: Ebook — Kindle Unlimited
The Rating I give this book a 2/5🌟 rating. I wanted to like this but I unfortunately did not.
Yikes! 😬 I desperately wanted to like this book, but I couldn’t. The premise grabbed me automatically. A Mars needs women book with an all black cast of FMC and alien MMC who look a lot like human men with afrocentric features, sign me up. Unfortunately, though this book missed the mark by leaps and bounds. I think I’m somewhat forgiving when it comes to authors writing styles but this time the style irked me.
The storytelling ranged from being rushed to stilted depending on the point in the story. The world building was lackluster and the dialogue ranged from being almost robotic to lifeless at times. On top of all these pitfalls the story was extremely boring and bet all its stakes on a lackluster insta love romance. I know what you’re thinking if it was that bad why did you continue? To answer that question I was really hoping the author was warming up and the story would get better. I’m sorry to say it didn’t. I really wish it was enough crumbs of hope in this book to want to give the next book in the series a try, but I could honestly care less. I will give this author some credit for the fun anatomy on the MMC. I’ve read about a lot of different alien junk, but six dicks was a first for me.
DNF @ 71% Never thought I’d say this but six peens all protruding from the same area was four too many. The author had me doing math and drawing blueprints during spice and when I tell you that really was NOT IT. Not for me.
I’m not a fan of writing poor reviews. But there’s some things that need to be said. This is my first book from this author and I was so excited about the series. But after reading this book, I’m not sure if I’ll be continuing with the others. The writing wasn’t great. The “I say, he said” at the end of every single sentence was jarring and took away from the reading and imagery for me. Speaking of imagery, I feel like we didn’t get a whole lot of description of Estelle from Abrax and therefore I’m not really sure what she looked like. There wasn’t a lot of world building even though we were in a whole ass alien planet and it was a little lazy writing imo to say the place was like the Egyptians. The story had a lot of potential, but for me it fell kind of flat. I needed more.
Also the multiple penises may be hot to some but it was not doing it for me. I’m all for some alien D, but I couldn’t get behind those things 😬
I really got into the growing connection between Abrax and Estelle. Estelle finds herself stuck on a new planet, and she's gotta adapt to her surroundings. Enter Abrax, the prince, who pledges to be her guide. As they spend time together, the chemistry between them is undeniable. Despite their differences as beings from separate worlds, they navigate through it all and find common ground. This story brings the heat with a dash of world-building thrown into the mix.
This was very slow at first. Then it finally picked up. Liked the storyline. Liked the ladies except for Ivy. First read by this author, will read again.
Let’s start with the characters. I liked Estelle. She was a classic “take the lead and hook up with the lead alien” starter FMC, and that worked. Abrax didn’t do it for me though. He felt a little too pampered prince in the way he wanted to ignore the humans entirely… until he and Estelle swapped saliva. He got better in the second half, but his motivations didn’t always hold up for me.
Spoilers ahead
The romance was way too insta love, which can be a fun trope, but Estelle and Abrax don’t have much of a foundation. Example A:
“A queen? Abrax, I’m not equipped for that.” “Sure you are. You’re a leader,” he says. “I’m sure whatever you were doing back on Earth, you were successful at it.”
Yes, whatever that thing was that you did. Case in point, they know nothing about each other, have adult spicy hugs a handful of times, and get pregnant.
The world building was equally minimal. We have a culture that reacted to the extinction of all their females by… using chastity belts and refusing to intermingle with any other species? I realize the king was paranoid about more disease, but come to find out the king was sick the entire time and was given said disease by his long lost evil brother? So why exactly must their entire species never get jiggy with it? For a species with a literal nest of SIX 🍆s, I’d love and hate to know what those belts looked like. Whatever.
On that note, the spice was pretty vanilla, which isn’t a bad thing, but I had certain expectations as a result of the aforementioned NEST OF PEENS. A nest which can become tentacle-like as desired, I might add. Nope, we have some double p and a lot of taking one at a time, and then for some reason Estelle’s first back door experience while already pregnant with their super growing Renesme baby in the last few pages of the entire book.
No spoiler here, but this is the first and final book of this series for me.
In this sci-fi romance, a group of Black women finds themselves abducted from Earth and transported to the planet Rakesh, where a devastating plague has wiped out all the native women. The story centers around Estelle, a determined and resourceful leader who is fiercely committed to returning her group home. Her counterpart, Abrax, the prince of Rakesh, is caught in a moral quandary; while he recognizes the importance of their freedom, he must navigate the complex political landscape of his world to help them without provoking powerful forces.
As Estelle and Abrax collaborate to devise a plan for their escape, their partnership evolves into a deep and passionate romance—one that beautifully intertwines the themes of love, loyalty, and resilience. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, making their journey both heartwarming and exhilarating.
This series continues with four more books, each delving into the experiences of different women as they find love not only with the aliens of Rakesh but also with the planet itself.
I absolutely adored this series! It was my first foray into alien romance, and it exceeded all my expectations. The blend of humor, steamy moments, and captivating storytelling kept me thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the thrilling world of alien romance!
it’s an alien accidental bride troupe of course I like it🙄
The book was so cute, I’ve been reading a lot longer books recently so this was refreshing to read something short and packed full of action. There were some areas where the plot seemed to fall into itself, this left those scene(s) hard to incorporate. I also had some problems with the MC’s internal dialogue and how it was done. It was cringy at some points. Overall, the book was excellent, the spicy scenes were good, the descriptions could be a bit better but, they shines when they were supposed to. Let’s get into the FL! She was a baddie and I liked her character, I wish that her resolve held for a bit longer but, we wouldn’t have gotten all the cute scenes we did. The ML was decent, not extremely unique in this genre. I do love his ✨anatomy✨ though, it’s the first I’ve seen of it in this genre. 7/10
This was my first Science fiction alien romance and I really liked it. There's a lot of world (or galaxy) building here but it's not too overwhelming or confusing. I liked the concept of the book and I think it did a good job setting up the rest of the series. I now know that each books in the series is going to be following one of the women that were abducted and this book followed Estelle. I liked the characters, the dialogue and the relationships. This book is definitely a slow burn, meaning it takes awhile to get to the spice but once it happens, it's so good!
I will be continuing the series because I am interested in learning more about the other ladies, how they settle into their new lives, the Rakesh men and the whole Rakesh world/society in general.
The beginning is quite cool, different from the usual abduction scenes. This is the story of Estelle a default leader of this group of Black women. Just before the women are handed off to their buyer they are rescued by Prince Abrax. These two bump heads a lot until they get together and are clearly featured in the ret of the series.
There is a lot of fighting action and LOTS of mating! Each woman has a unique personality and a different love story. This is refreshing after so many series that have each woman’s experience being carbon copies with just a little tweak.
Right now series is not complete, I’m waiting patiently for book 8!
Estelle was all work and no play until she finds herself abducted to an alien planet. Abrax never intended to become the custodian of 10 kidnapped Earth women, but he does his best. Somehow they make a romance of it.
I didnt have the best hopes for this novel, but it ended up surprising me. The smut wasn’t over bearing, and the plot kept me intrigued. It might have been that Estelle was a likeable character. I would have liked to look in on some of the other couples, but it’s a series for a reason.
If you like smut, interspecies romance, and alien adventures, this is for you.
Dnf @41% Tbh I really hated how fast Estelle was willing to drop her pants for an alien. The whole six phalluses thing is jarring , weird and illogical. Why is it necessary and how will that work. I have a vivid imagination and I cant for the life of me understand how that works. He can be an alien , or sentient without making him a mutant. I don't buy in to their Romance and I frankly do not care. Perhaps the writer was going for a fated mates concept , I don't know. I find that without a good storyline, interesting characters and chemistry, it just doesn't work. You can have fated mates and work for love. Lazy storywriting . Estelle should want better
Wow Estelle and several other women of color are abducted from a plan by aliens who need black women to help them save their race. Despite rules against contacting earth these ladies are stuck on Rakesh. Trying to get used to their new normal Estelle becomes fascinated by an alien prince whose father insists they are breeding capable and are to be assigned to others to be watched protected and impregnated or be sent to die in wilds of an alien world. Estelle is determined to go home until She isn’t!
The way I INHALED this book is beyond me! I started this book at 11pm & finished it at 2:45am! I loved the way everything turned out & enjoyed the instant connection Abrax & Estelle shared. The different personalities of the women that got taken to Rakesh was so entertaining to read. (Ivy was definitely working my last nerve, but everyone can’t be sweet & likable🤭😂) This type of sci-fi romance is completely out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it sooo much! I plan on reading book 2 soon!
I truly enjoyed this story. This was my first time being exposed to Eva O’Hare. I felt the narrator’s voice was too soft. I wish the narration could have been 2 people. I enjoy romance/erotica novels that break the heroine stereotype of blonde, blue-eyed, petite, appropriate BMI Caucasian women. The array of tones and personalities was refreshing. I highly recommend this series. I’ve moved on the Book 2.
Not perfect but a lot of fun! Some typos but not too distracting and it was quick, fun, and spicy. I love scifi and wished for more details as far as their surroundings went (more details in the foods and ships) but over all it's pretty good. I hope to see the author continue the genre with a bit more lavish descriptions. I know they have it in them because the spice was detailed!!!!
This book is right up my alley! I love the world transport and everything that this book has! It is sometimes corny beyond comprehension lol I had to actually re read a few sentences to make sure I wasn’t trippin but no the author really said that. I do not understand why they have to have 6 dingalings but who am I to judge lol it makes for a good read. I’m obsessed so if you like corny reads you’ll love this! I’ve already downloaded the remaining 9 books in the series.
I didn't care for the book. I did a lot of eye-rolling, and the attraction and affection between Estelle and Abrax wasn't believable. I think I was turned off by the author using Estelle's ovulation as the reason why she was so hot for Abrax. I wish a spade was called a spade and she just found Abrax hot and she wanted to sleep with him. But no, every time you turn around, Estelle is making a proclamation about her ovulation. I DNF'd. I wasn't interested in the main characters' love story.
A Bride of the Alien Prince is the black woman-led paranormal alien romance I never knew I needed! This book has been a perfect fit for my book club—it's got everything we could ask for. The blend of romance, sci-fi, and a strong, relatable heroine makes for an addictive read. The spicy romance scenes add a fresh, exciting dynamic to the story. I read this in one setting and was hooked from start to finish. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author!
This book was truly one of a kind I’ve never read anything quite like it. The world building was immersive, and the character details were incredibly well done. What really set it apart for me was the alien perspective; I haven’t explored stories like that before, but this one made me want more. It was different in all the right ways, and I genuinely enjoyed the experience. My only complaint is the ending felt like it left me hanging.
Although I wished the book was longer, I had so much fun reading this story! I absolutely enjoyed Estelle and Zora. The aliens were as flirtatiously sexy as the women. I can’t wait to read the second book. Honestly, if you’re here for a good time, and love black women mc you’ll find yourself enjoying this book.
