2nd volume of this fascinating gender bending manga taking it's inspiration from the little mermaid.

Backstory: Seira an alien mermaid doomed her people when she fell in love with a human prince and denounced her people causing them to be hunted as witches and almost exterminated. She supposedly had a half-mermaid daughter called Benjamin. The sea witch (Grandma) tells Shonarch (the son of the merman that Seira should have married) that if he can find and mate with Benjamin their people will be saved otherwise it will be the end of the world (literally).

As always the course of true love never runs smoothly - Indeed "Benjamin" is a boy who after being hit by a car now has amnesia and goes by the name of Jimmy. He's been adopted by cranky out-of-work dancer Art. So we have love triangles and gender confusion galore.

Jimmy loves Art who is in love with his bitchy ex partner Holly.
Mermaid Noera loves Shonarch who is in love with the woman of his dreams Seira... or is it really a female Benjamin?

One night a shaft of moonlight transforms Jimmy into a beautiful naked woman (the spitting image of Seira). Art comes home from a date with Holly and of course doesn't recognise 'Jimmy' - who just like the little mermaid has no voice to tell him who she is. She flees to Shonarch, but it seems she's only voiceless with Art as she has no trouble with Shonarch or Noera. Shonarch kisses the woman of his dreams and 'Benjamin' has a vision of the entire history of the mer people including apocalyptic visions of the future, before finally turning back into Jimmy.

Grandma arrives, but has no idea what it all means, only that she wants Shonarch and Benjamin to get together. There are also sinister twins who look just like Jimmy floating about, but we have yet to learn their true origins or intent.

For those of you who like plot heavy manga give this one a try. The story is really interesting and I don't have a clue how the story is going to end (which is a good thing!) The artwork is beautiful, although I would have loved more mermaids with fish tails (there's some but not nearly enough lol) - Benjamin's vision section is particularly nice.

I love Jimmy so much. Sometimes I gotta clock in to make sense of everything but I actually laughed a lot with the last chapter.

Industrial fantasy weirdness continues as the boy Jimmy changes to a beautiful girl Benjamin (huh..) and I like it. Old-school shojo sweetness...
