What would you do to save the ones you love?
It has been months since Lyla last saw James, but she has not been able to banish him from her heart or her mind. The young healer spends her days treating the refugees of McAlister lands, fleeing the violent rule of the usurper Laird. But when James shows up at her doorstep, bloody and unconscious, everything is bound to change.

Ousted from his childhood home along with his two brothers, James McAlister has now made his choice to take back what is rightfully his or die trying. Lyla knows that storming the McAlister keep would only mean his death, but how far would she go to help James reclaim his birthright?

Once Lyla infiltrates the McAlister castle to give James a fighting chance, she realizes that the rumors are true. Once you are in McAlister keep, you never leave. As the lass gets closer to the usurper, she knows she’s playing a very dangerous game for the man she loves, one she might not survive.

Lyla is the heroine in this book. Her sister is married to the oldest of three brothers who have lost their inheritance to a wicked stepmother and her son, who are treating their people terribly and hired mercenaries to bolster the conscripted men they boss.

Lyla is in love with James, the second oldest son, who has rescued her from a dungeon. One night while she is alone in the healer's hut where she is apprenticing, he shows up with a dislocated shoulder and other more serious wounds. She tends to him and the next day they make plans for how she will go to his home castle and worm her way in to get information they can use to retake the brothers' inheritance. Unfortunately, this leads to a big problem situation. You will love reading this to its happy ending!

Great Story!

I’m so happy they got the castle back, James became Laird, he and Lyla married and having the 3 brothers together was very nice. Can’t imagine the story behind Eyre and Simon, maybe we’ll see for the next book. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I just loved the characters and storyline so much. Except for the Monsters. God both of them were horrid. Thank you Adamina for continuing the family story. I loved it!! Can’t wait to read the next book. 😊😊😊😊😊💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Interesting Book

I liked this book. Lyla took a chance on going into the clan to be a healer and spy. Every thing worked out for a while. I will read the next story to see what happens.

A great romance with a happy ending

This was a very enjoyable book. It was easy to read and had a strong woman as the main character. I would recommend reading this one.

Getting what is deserved

Loved this book! The story of how James and Lyla put themselves in so much danger to get what was rightfully his. Loved the anticipation and danger.

No relationship development

There is no relationship development whatsoever and almost no interaction between the H/h. Also the premise is not realistic because a young woman would not willingly put herself in this precarious of a situation with such a flimsy plan.
