Books on the end times almost always start with the premise that the apocalypse is imminent and then read modern political situations into the Scriptures. Dr. Marshall does not start with this false premise, and thus is free to understand the Scriptures as written. At no point was there clear violence done to the text, and where the text allowed multiple interpretations Dr. Marshall presented them without prejudice.

The section on the destruction of the temple was particularly interesting. There are numerous places throughout the book where Dr. Marshall is able to bring in insightful bits from Josephus, Suetonius, and others to really give historical and linguistic context to the text. In sum, this book is an excellent commentary on the Apocalypse of St. John that is especially accessible to the average layman

Dr. Marshall's Antichrist and Apocalypse is a definite "must read" for anyone trying to improve their knowledge of the Book of Apocalypse. Perhaps you are someone like me, someone who struggles to fathom the mysteries and symbolism found in Revelation. Perhaps also, you are uncertain as to who the Antichrist is, what is his significance, and what we can expect when he shall appear.

If either of the above apply to you, you've found the right book. In Antichrist and the Apocalypse, Dr. Marshall presents the answers to all your questions, and much much more. Dr. Marshall will lead you on a detailed and comprehensive journey through the Book of Apocalypse, providing an excellent and intelligible commentary on Revelation, explaining it verse by verse. Dr. Marshall has done meticulous research and provides concrete references from Church authorities to back up his explanations. I particularly liked the part in the Appendix where he provides a timeline of future events based on the visions of Bartholomew Holzhauser and the Seven Epochs. This is useful for those who have heard about singular events such as the Chastisement, the Three Days of Darkness, the Age of Restoration, and the Great Apostasy(and others!) and want to know where they fit in Apocalypse.

Finally, I'd like to reassure you that the book is readable by the young and old alike. Dr. Marshall's explanations are easily understood, and once you've started reading, you won't want to put it down. I'm a home schooled high school student, and I can personally attest that I have experienced an "apocalypse" reading this book, that my veil of confusion has been lifted revealing God's truth about the end times, the Antichrist, and the last days.

God Bless!

The Study Guide to the Catholic “Truth and Life” book of the Apocalypse, or the “Revelation to Saint John”, states that:
“Being dominated by apocalyptic and prophetic symbolism, the Book of Revelation is notoriously difficult to interpret. Even St Jerome, the most learned biblical scholar in the early Church, was compelled to admit that the Revelation of John ‘has as many mysteries as words’ (Letters 53,8)”.

Dr Taylor Marshall has done an extremely good job of unpacking many of these mysteries. He has a knack of using simple, easy to read language to explain complex topics.

Dr Marshall, formerly a (married) Episcopalian Priest, now a Catholic layman with a wife and 8 children, has become a well known podcaster and a prolific author, probably best known for Infiltration: The Plot to Destroy the Church from Within that once reached #7 on "all books sold" on Amazon.com.

In ANTICHRIST AND APOCALYPSE, Dr Marshall uses his many years of Christian scholarship to explain “Who and What is Antichrist”, with the perceptive comment:
“Outside the Church, the world will not recognise the Antichrist as the Antichrist. They will wrongly recognize him as ‘our Christ’ and as the head of his false church.”

Commencing by literally ‘taking away the veil’ and given a plausible explanation of Antichrist by reference to the original Hebrew and Greek texts (when available) plus quotations from Church Fathers and ancient historians, Dr Marshall then proceeds line by line through the Book of the Apocalypse with detailed commentary.

Biblical scholars & theologians may argue over some of Dr Marshall’s views. For myself, as a 78 year old former non-practicing Anglican now a reasonably well educated practising Catholic of 40 years, prior to reading this book I had a fair knowledge of Revelation up to about chapter 13 (the woman and the dragon) even though I glossed over things such as the 7 seals, the 7 trumpets, the 4 horsemen, the 7 bowls of plagues etc. The last time I read Revelation I remember feeling dissatisfied that my Jerusalem Bible commentary said that Babylon, the great harlot, was actually Rome, because I couldn’t recall the Bible ever saying that St John had visited Rome. Dr Marshall demonstrates convincingly that Babylon actually means Jerusalem, far more plausible than Rome. Dr Marshall’s advice not to take everything literally is helpful (e.g. 1,000 years = 10 x 10 x 10, a large number) and not to treat the chapters of Revelation as necessarily being chronological was also helpful.

I learned much in the book that I didn’t previously know. I very rarely read a book twice (except the Bible) but will definitely read ANTICHRIST AND APOCALYPSE a second time.

It would seem that the book is intended mainly for Catholics, because toward the end Dr Marshall says one must be Catholic, otherwise you do not “have entry into New Jerusalem, who is the Bride of Christ.” This does not allow for God’s boundless grace to allow entry for people such as Mahatma Gandhi and Queen Elizabeth II. A minor quibble some might say – but surely not if one were a Protestant or Pentecostal hoping to reach Heaven.

My only real disappointment with the book is what it doesn’t cover. The impending Apocalypse has been talked and written about for thousands of years, since Ezekiel. It hasn’t yet happened and will probably not happen soon. But in the last 60 years apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary have grown in number and her purported messages become more urgent, generally relating to people being more spiritual and less materialistic, doing more prayer and penance, fasting, paying more attention to the Eucharist, visiting the Blessed Sacrament more often and living better lives. Of recent times much attention has been given to a predicted worldwide Warning or Examination of Conscience (wherein everyone will see themselves as God sees them, especially their sins that displease Him) as a precursor to a worldwide Miracle which may / may not be followed by a conditional Chastisement (the chastisement may be lessened by prayer and penance). Seers predict that the Warning and Miracle may occur in the next few years. Dr Marshall discusses the 3 days of darkness predicted by Blessed Anna Maria Taigi (d. 1837) and a Minor Chastisement (neither likely to occur soon) but makes no reference to the insistent and widespread messages of the Blessed Virgin Mary in our very life time. Disappointing.

This easy to read book is a very worthwhile addition to Apocalyptic literature. All people interested in their eternal salvation should read this book and make up their own minds.

We are studying the book of Revelation in our Bible study this year so I read this book to learn a different perspective. I learned a few new things and appreciated the viewpoint.

A TRADITIONALIST CATHOLIC LOOKS AT ‘END-TIME’ PROPHECIES

He begins this 2022 book, “The story of creation includes the betrayal by Satan. The history of Christianity begins with the internal betrayal by Judas Iscariot. This pattern of infiltrating betrayal… will continue until the end of the world---and climax with the final betrayal by the Antichrist… The last book of the bible is the most hopeful and joyous of the entire Bible. How can that be when it details plagues, disease, wrath, the Antichrist, wars, tribulation, starvation, and damnation? This final book of the New Testament … is literally ‘taking away the veil.’ It is the ‘revelation’ of what God… will do to finally redeem and restore the creation that He initiated in Genesis.” (Pg. 9-10)

He notes, “[The apostle] John [in 1 Jn 4:2-3] expands the meaning of Antichrist. He has told us there is a single Antichrist to come at the end of time. He has told us that there are currently many antichrists who deny the Father and Son. Here he reveals the ‘spirit of the Antichrist,’ which is both coming in the future and is already present in the world as of AD 90… He further defines the heresy of the Antichrist as every spirit that does not confess Jesus as coming in the flesh.” (Pg. 22)

He suggests, “St, Paul … explains in [2 Thess 2:7] that at the end of time, the … restrainer, whoever he is, will ‘be taken out of the way.’ This suggests that the Church and Roman Empire (or the integration thereof) and the papacy and monarchy (or the integration thereof) would be ‘taken away’ before the arrival of the Antichrist. The Marian apparition of Our Lady of La Salette in 1846… told of a coming ‘eclipse of the church’ and persecution of the papacy. Cardinal Manning was writing in 1861 as Europe was dissolving the union of the Catholic Church and the state. In 1870 the Papal States were lost. The apparition of Our Lady of Fatima happened in 1917, and by 1918 the last Hapsburg Emperor weas deposed from the imperial throne. These political events and the subsequent apostasy of the faithful from the Church are certainly worth our attention.” (Pg. 27)

He states, “In the Greek [of 1 Jn 2:18] John differentiates between the Antichrist and many antichrists… That the Antichrist will be one singular ‘Man of Sin’ is the plain reading of Saint Paul, but it is also the teaching of Christ our Lord, Saint Irenaeus of Lyons… who was taught by Polycarp, who was taught by the apostle John, interprets Christ’s words [in Jn 5:43] as a prophecy of the Antichrist…. Tradition follows this interpretation…” (Pg. 42-43)

He clarifies, “Some teach that the Antichrist has already come and gone and that we live after his time. This is contrary to the plain reading of Scripture. Those who assert that the Antichrist has already lived a\re those who follow a strict preterist reading of the New Testament. The strict preterists hold that ALL prophecies of the New Testament have all been completed in full by the fall and destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 when the Romans sacked and burned the city and its temple. This thesis derives from Matthew 24, where Christ seems to teach that the tribulation and end of the world are imminent and will accompany the destruction of the Jerusalem temple. The preterist says that the great tribulation was the martyrdom of the apostles from AD 63 to AD 70, and the Second Coming was Christ’s spiritual judgment of Jerusalem in AD 70. Who, then, id the preterist Antichrist? They name Emperor Nero Caesar the Antichrist, who is now dead and gone. Sacred tradition and the majority of Church Father see the preterist account as only partially correct. The orthodox reading is that the events in Matthew 24 and the Apocalypse are in the future but typologically revealed by a partial preterist reading. The destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 foreshadows the final tribulation, which will once again happen in Jerusalem. The martyrs of AD 63-AD 67 in Jerusalem and Rome foreshadow the martyrs of the end of time. And Nero Caesar is a foreshadowing of the cruel Antichrist.” (Pg. 44)

He asserts, “The nineteenth-century dispensational idea that true Christians will be ‘raptured’ before the tribulation is utterly false. The Great Tribulation will ‘surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city’ (Apoc 20:8). The Apocalypse of John also repeatedly refers to the martyrs who suffer under the Great Tribulation.” (Pg. 56)

He points out, “The Protestant Reformers restored the historical interpretation of the Apocalypse. Martin Luther and the early Lutherans dogmatically identified the Antichrist with the pope and sought to connect their rebellion against the Catholic Church with the tribulation and end times… The French Reformer John Calvin … taught the same error… The Presbyterian ‘Westminster Confession of Faith (1647) also affirms the pope as the Antichrist and Man of Sin.” (Pg. 84-85)

He acknowledges, “the Apocalypse is not written to be read in sequential order. It repeats and reprises themes. It replays them again and again with different names, details, and symbols. The Apocalypse is telescoped and interlinked. (Pg. 116)

He states, “The earthly Jerusalem will be tread underfoot for forty-two months, which is exactly three and a half years---total reign of the Antichrist. Jerusalem shall be persecuted for forty-two months, which is 3.5 years… Then shall come the two witnesses for 1,260 days… It is certain, then, that the tribulation of the Antichrist will last three and half years.” (Pg. 140)

He summarizes, “The book of the Apocalypse can be interpreted as past events (preterist), future events (futurist), or the flow of history from Christ to the Antichrist (historicist). We are treating all three as true, valid, and interconnected. The preterist-futurist interpretation (my own view) asserts that the three and a half years from AD 66-70 and the destruction of Jerusalem is a micro-apocalypse mirroring the final Great Tribulation under the Antichrist in the last three and half years before the return of Christ.” (Pg. 141)

Of the infamous number ‘666,’ he recounts, “Saint Irenaeus, writing in the late AD 100s, gives us the first written account of 666 as found described in the Apocalypse. First, he says that some manuscripts have 666 while others have 616. Scholarship backs this up.. He explains, ‘I am inclined to think that this occurred through the fault of the copyists…’ Irenaeus is saying that … 666 was accidentally changed into … 616… When we add up the letters for Neron Caesar, we arrive at 666, but if we omit the final ‘n’ … to read ‘Nero Caesar,’ we get 616… The variation … in relation to Nero may relate to the legend of Nero Redivus---the belief that the Nero Caesar would return again in the future… If the discrepancy between 666 and 616 does not have to do with an identity with Nero Caesar, it is not stated as known to Irenaeus… Irenaeus confesses that he does not know the meaning of the number, and he rebukes those who claim to know it..” (Pg. 183-184)

He argues, “we have discussed the meaning of the ‘great city’ as either Rome or Jerusalem. By reading Ezekiel, we see that the great city punished by God for her marital unfaithfulness is always Jerusalem. How can Rome commit adultery is she has never been married to God in a true covenant? Instead, the mystery of Babylon is that the earthly city of Jerusalem (with its temple) is committing adultery with pagan Rome. Earthly Jerusalem becomes the Anti-Church of the Antichrist.” (Pg. 220)

He suggests, “The angel explains that the seven heads correspond to seven kings: ‘Five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come: and when he is come, he must remain a short time.’ (v. 10) It is natural to turn to the chronicles of the Roman emperors to find these seven kings…. None of these … Roman sets of kings are satisfying… A better solution for the seven kings is found if we turn to the founding of Rome…” (Pg. 228-229)

He explains, “Evangelical Protestant Christians often debate the millennium and the coming of Christ with three various interpretations, which they call premillennialism, postmillennialism, and amillennialism… Postmillennialists agree about Christ returning ONCE in the future after the millennium---the difference is that postmillennialists see a future golden age of Christianity lasting about one thousand years, after which Christ comes to judge the living and the dead… In the end, Satan will be released to assist the Antichrist and bring about the Great Tribulation. The difficulty with premillennialism is that it teaches TWO final comings of Christ… Although many early Christians did adopt the premillennialist interpretation, the Catholic Church definitively settled on the amillennial position. Both the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox church teach amillennialism and only amillennialism.” (Pg. 253-257)

This book may interest conservative/traditionalist Catholics studying eschatology.

This is just more millenarianism. Marian apocalypticism is a big part of that. Please go read the scholarship (e.g. tridentines.com/pages/scholarship.html) on this.

Please stop living in an echo chamber. Taylor Marshall is just another influencer, whose niche is the rad-trad world, a very profitable lifestyle movement of the last 5 years. He cherry picks from things to present to you a world that only he and other rad-trad influences promote. This is his full time job and he makes a lot of money from being a contrarian & presenting a heavily distorted and one-sided view of the Catholic Church & European history.

Secondly, read some outside sources. I'd recommend the recent "The Pope at War" by David I. Kertzer" regarding Pius XII. Just a few things Marshall won't tell you about him: Pius XII covered up child sex abuse (as did nearly all trad bishops of the time), he had secret meetings with Nazi agents (Pius XII agreed to silence all criticism against Hitler), and Pius XII had what amounted to a wife (Pascalina Lehnert) living with him for 41 years. Pius XII also specifically promoted the "New World Order" as has been revealed from recent archives. He had all the bishops supporting the fascist war effort and he was responsible for burning records of priest sex abuse in Germany.

You've all been conditioned for years to become immune to anything outside of your bubble. Please, read other sides of the story, don't take all your views from the usual rad-trad influencers (Marshall, Tim Gordon, "Fr. Z", Vigano, etc.). And don't blindly trust your priests and bishops to tell you everything. Universities have published huge amounts of work since 1990, but the trads seem to want to dismiss it all as "modernism" since it's not being promoted by the SSPX or FSSP or whatever source they trust.

In Antichrist and Apocalypse, Dr. Taylor Marshall uses Sacred Scripture and Tradition to describe both the person of the Antichrist and the conditions under which he will be revealed. The book is extremely well-organized, thoroughly researched, and presented in an easy to follow format. It contains charts and numbered lists that break down the information covered in narrative form in the chapters.

From reading Antichrist and Apocalypse, I gained a solid foundation by which to interpret the signs of the times and discern who the Antichrist will be and who he cannot be. Using support from biblical texts and the Church Fathers, Dr. Marshall explains that there are a few basic conditions that must be fulfilled before the Antichrist’s arrival. First, the Gospel of Christ must be preached to all nations. Second, the Roman Empire must be dissolved. The term ‘Roman Empire’ is used broadly to signify not just an Emperor ruling a large geographic territory but the Supreme Roman Pontiff ruling the Church. With this understanding, Dr. Marshall takes it as a bad omen that the Roman character of the Church, as best represented in the Latin language and liturgy, has been systematically stripped from the Church over the last hundred years. It seems the destruction of the Roman Empire is meant to mean the Great Apostasy, or almost worldwide rejection of Christ.

Sacred Scripture and Catholic Tradition helps us understand that the Antichrist will be one individual. I found it very interesting when Dr. Marshall discussed the various Protestant errors regarding the Antichrist. For instance, he explained Martin Luther’s error of a succession of Antichrists when he states, “Martin Luther and early Lutheran apologists taught that the Antichrist was not one man but rather the succession of Popes in Rome, and this we will show to be false” (42). Supporting his arguments with Scripture and Tradition, Dr. Marshall proves that the Antichrist will be one Israelite individual, born of fornication and sacrilege, who will establish himself as the one God and enthrone himself in the Temple of God, reigning for three and one half years. During his reign, the Church will undergo the Great Tribulation, a time period that will see the elimination of the Holy Mass and all sacraments. It was fascinating to me to learn where the three and one half year reign originated from. Dr. Marshall explains that this number comes from the Book of Daniel 12:11, “And from the time when the continual sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination unto desolation shall be set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days” (57).

Another aspect of the book that was particularly helpful in putting the Antichrist and his times into context was the discussion of Bartholomew Holzhauser. We learn from Dr. Marshall that Bartholomew Holzhauser was a Catholic priest and mystic who lived during the 1600s and developed a theory of the Seven Epochs of the Church. Each Epoch of the Church mirrors an Epoch from the Old Testament. In a way, it seems like Holzhauser’s understanding encompasses or reconciles the various other theories about the timing of the Antichrist (the preterist, futurist, and historicist theories), which Dr. Marshall also discusses. Based on Holzhauser’s Seven Epochs of the Church, the Antichrist will arrive in the Seventh Epoch which will be a time of desolation that mirrors the state of the world when Christ first came. One question on the minds of many Catholics today is, are we living in that time? Using Holzhauser’s Seven Epochs of the Church, Dr. Marshall shows that we are, in fact, not in the Seventh Epoch. We are most likely in the Fifth Epoch, the Epoch that, according to Holzhauser, mirrors the Old Testament Babylonian Exile. This Epoch will end with the Minor Chastisement, a time when the Catholic Faith will be eclipsed by heresy and schism but the Mass and sacraments will still exist. At the end of this Epoch, a great Catholic king will defeat Russia in war and the three days of darkness will commence. The Epoch directly preceding the Antichrist’s arrival will be a time of Catholic renewal and mass conversion, which will ultimately end in Catholics taking their Faith for granted, opening the door for the Antichrist.

In conclusion, Antichrist and Apocalypse is a great read for all who are trying to interpret the signs of the times and prepare. Dr. Marshall excels at making so many connections with Sacred Scripture, the Church Fathers, Catholic mystics, and Tradition to weave together a detailed picture of the end times and what will precede them. Just like he did in Infiltration, Dr. Marshall leaves his readers with practical steps we can all take to prepare for that final battle for our souls, whether that be now or at the end of time.

This is not light reading to entertain. This is to grow and learn. Thankfully Dr Marshall goes line by line of The Apocalypse and explains what is going on. I am a convert to the Catholic Church. I grew up in a family (perhaps it was the church we attended) that didn't mention The Apocalypse (Revelation) or the 2nd coming of Christ at all, that I know of anyway. And sadly I must admit as a Catholic I've not done my part in learning much about since my conversion other than what we learn in Mass, Catechism (which I taught) or in Catholic conferences. While I might be able to say that I know more than most Americans (which certainly isn't say much at all), I'm still woefully ignorant on this entire book of Holy Scriptures. Well I suppose I should say I WAS woefully ignorant. I'm not boasting that I understand it all now. I don't believe that is possible for any human outside of heaven.
Dr. Marshall takes it slowly and explains each line in great detail. He clearly has done his homework. He gives credit to every source he has read on the subject. And has wonderful footnotes to clarify things. You can follow him clearly as he explains why, or why not, he believes certainly things about what is going on in St. John's vision of the Apocalypse. He explains previous heresies and why they simply can not be true. He also explains what the Church teaches. While this is clearly written by and for Catholics, I truly think our non-Catholic brothers and sisters can also gain much by reading this book. Not so that we may convert them, though that would be a happy accident, but so they can see how others 'interpret' Revelation, specifically how the Catholic Church sees it. And why it makes so much sense. Dr. Marshall goes through it logically and without emotion. He clearly isn't trying to make anything fit his personal desire of what he'd like it to say. He simply explains why it means what it means by using other books of the Bible so that we can see the logic. I could see how it is both past, present and future. But I could always see why some of our Protestant friends ideas simply don't hold water.
It helps us to know why the Church teaches what it does.
Dr Marshall summarizes in his epilogue:
"There is one Jesus Christ and one Bride of Christ. There are not many Brides of Christ. There is only one New Jerusalem. To be saved, you must be inside the new Jerusalem. The new Jerusalem is the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church. We enter the new Jerusalem by receiving the mark of his name on our foreheads, by receiving the waters of life, and by dipping our robe into the blood of the Lamb." Of all my 20+ years of studying faith I can truly not see any other church that can truly fit what scripture tells us the way the Catholic Church fits so perfectly. It is the reason I fell totally in love with the Church and therefore with her head, Jesus.
As a former homeschool mother I could see parents using this in a high school religion class. I could easily see a wonderful discussion between student and teacher/parent. Perhaps it would make for a wonderful section in religion classes at Catholic Schools. But this is certainly not light reading. It would help if the reader has actually read The Apocalypse before. I think it would have helped me greatly. Sure, I've heard it all before but I'm embarrassed to say I have simply sat down to read it word for word. And honestly I don't think I'd have understood it until now. Not to say I ever will fully understand.
This book will help you to better understand, to the best of human ability, what the message is. I am someone who is very literal. I have a difficult time seeing symbols in texts. So this was vital for me to grasp any of it. I can see myself reading this book more than once.
Since I read this in digital format I now think I will buy the book in print. I wanted to take better notes and that isn't quite as easy in digital format. It's possible, just not as easy. I think this is an important read to help you better see why the Church is the New Jerusalem and why it certainly can not be the whore of Babylon nor the Antichrist.
Be Blessed

Dr. Taylor Marshall’s Antichrist and Apocalypse is a unique, yet thoroughly orthodox commentary. Starting with the Genesis creation account, he sets the stage for Satan’s final role as great destroyer – a role increasingly evident to the remnant believers of today, searching for answers. Like the meaning of Apocalypse, Marshall attempts to help the reader lift of the veil concupiscent confusion confronting all believers. He helps the reader (through his own thorough analysis, and the use of prophetic sources) obtain a greater understanding of this final book of Scripture.

Marshall thoroughly analyzes the Book of Daniel and its vision of the Parousia. He harmonizes St. John’s references to the various “Antichrists” which much precede the final Antichrist, while maintaining the Magisterial Tradition that the Gospel must first be preached (and rejected) to the entire world prior to the rise of the Antichrist, whose reign of persecution against the Kingdom of God begins once the great restraining force of the katechon is removed. His analysis of the 1,000 year restraint on Satan is influenced by the classic Mystical City of God work of Sister Mary Agreda.

Marshall also sees the Apocalypse through the eyes of the Old Testament prophets (tracing the various covenants from Adam to the Maccabean restoration), and at the same time through the epochs of the New Covenant, from Jesus to the rise of the Antichrist. He makes use of the interpretations of Bartholemew Holzhauser, a German Catholic priest, whose writings on the Apocalypse largely counteracted the Protestant interpretation of antichrist as essentially that of a failed Roman Papacy.

We see Jesus, as the Lamb of God and Redeemer made worthy to open the scrolls seen St. John’s vision. The echoes of “Holy, Holy, Holy” come from the twenty-four Presbyters whose lineage Marshall traces to the twenty-four divisions of the Old Testament priesthood (grandsons of Aaron). The seals unlock the entry of thousands and thousands of the universal community into the kingdom of God. He further correlates of the breaking of the seals to the end time words of Jesus in Matthew chapter 24, leading to the opening of the seventh seal, and the seven trumpets. Here, Dr. Marshal compares the preterist and futurist views of the Apocalypse (both are valid).

As a lifelong Catholic I greatly appreciated Marshall’s discussion of the woman, clothed with the sun appearing in Revelation, chapter twelve where we see the symbolic woman who is both mother of the Church, and Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant.

I believe that even non-Catholics will appreciate Marshall’s efforts tying these passages into the Old Testament prophecies’ fulfillment. Marshall takes an equal amount of time dealing with Antichrist (the sea beast) and the False Prophet (the land beast), and the mark of the beast accompanying Antichrist’s reign. At this point, the very real abyss of hell is revealed, filled with those rejecting Jesus, both in faith, words, and works.

Finally, we come to Armageddon – the final battle where God’s wrath is poured out upon an apostate Jerusalem, and where Jesus’ followers see justice and the beginnings of the new Jerusalem from their places of refuge outside of Jerusalem. Dr. Marshall does exemplary work in helping the reader understand that Apocalypse is not to be read as a linear work, providing a complete and helpful index to the events in prophetic time. At the end of time, the apostate Jerusalem, the Whore of Babylon, is destroyed suddenly as the nations turn on her. This is both the preterist fulfillment that occurred in 70 AD and the prophetic fulfillment replacing the old Jerusalem with the New Jerusalem (The universal Church) of the Kingship of Jesus Christ. The reader is left with the choice of which path to follow – something all must decide. I enjoyed this work and recommend it for any serious student of sacred scripture.

From words of Ven. Archbishop Fulton Sheen at the beginning, never will the Antichrist call himself as so, if it was the case, no one (or maybe a bucket full of lost souls) will follow him.

The book of The Apocalypse is probably the most difficult book to read in the Holly Scripture, because of all the symbology. Not to be taken literally.

Dr. Taylor Marshall has done yet another great piece of literature by describing the 22 chapters, verse by verse, on Saint John’s book of Revelation or The Apocalypse. It gives a better understanding on how the Antichrist in coalition with the false Prophet will perform in such way that will (try) to make everyone believe that they are the good guys of the plot. We hope and pray that all souls, with the aid of the Holy Spirit and their Guardian Angels, open their eyes, heart, mind and soul to The Truth, and The Way, and The Life, so entire mankind, God’s creation, can see and understand the deceiving characters of the demonic anti-Trinity. (Satan-Antichrist-False Prophet).

Super easy to read and comprehend. I pictured myself sitting by a campfire, and someone starts telling a good story that keeps you up all night, listening to the words, patiently waiting for what is going to happen next. Love it how it relates some passages from Old Testament (books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Daniel, Ezechiel, etc.) with the vision of Saint John. In the Old Testament they were looking and future events, Saint “John sees it happening.”

This book is to be read as many times as desired and needed to better comprehend the Book of Revelation. In my humble opinion it should be kept as a good reference book for the times to come.

What a great book. Thanks so much, Dr. Marshall!

If you are already familiar with Dr. Marshall’s books then I can just say that, once again, he does not disappoint, and you would know this book is well worth buying and reading.
It is not an easy read. It is fascinating, very well written, full of information, easy to understand but this book is not for a two-evening perusing. This is a much slower pace read.
The Apocalypse is believed to be quite difficult to understand. The text is so full of symbols, of double- or triple- meaning and of mixture of past, present, and future events. It also pretty much requires quite a bit of knowledge – the Old Testament, world history, each country’s culture, and belief system, even some Latin, Greek, and Hebrew.
Dr. Marshall has all that knowledge- and he seems to truly enjoy sharing that with the reader. He is not only a superb writer; he is also an excellent teacher.
Hopefully we all had that one teacher in our lifetime- the one that not only makes things easy to understand but also awakens in us hunger for more knowledge. Dr. Marshall is that teacher. He uncovers all the layers of the meaning of St. John’s text, and he brings in us the need to learn even more, to read even more, to understand, to deepen our faith.
Deepen our faith.
I believe that’s the reason Dr. Marshall is such an excellent writer. He doesn’t just write about things that simply interest him; he writes about things that truly matter in his life. Only a person with the deepest faith can write like this.
‘Antichrist and Apocalypse” will give you a much better understanding of the Revelation. But it will do something else- it will remind you how powerful and how loving our God is.
In times when in so many churches we see the overly sweet, “let’s not hurt anybody’s feelings”, “everybody is saved” caricature of what used to be the Roman Catholic Faith, we need to be reminded that our God is not this smiling gray-haired grandpa who does not expect much from us.
Our God is the Creator. He is Powerful. He is just. He is righteous. He gave us the Ten Commandments and He expects us to follow them. He will come on Judgment Day and we will answer for the way we lived our lives.
Let’s not underestimate Him.
On the other hand, our God is loving and forgiving. And those who truly believe and who follow the Commandments will find that out.
“And God shall wipe away the tears from their eyes” - when we are deserving of this.
The Apocalypse is not just some old book. It is our past, our today and our future. Dr. Marshall explains its meaning and underlines the truth that we all so desperately need – that we will be judged for our faith and our works. That God gives us many chances, forgives many sins but in the end, He will judge us. He will be merciful and loving but very just.
Read this wonderful book if you want to learn more, understand more. But mainly read this book if you want to believe deeper and follow in the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE STORY OF EVERYBODY

Everyone has a story, but one book holds everyone’s story: our Holy Bible. It can take a lifetime to read and understand God’s perfect plan for our lives, but it’s less certain how the story of every one of us ends. Taylor Marshall given us most of the controversies, speculations, theories, myths, teachings and writings that the early Church Fathers and exegetes through the ages have contributed. And the result is a thorough analysis of what God really has planned for the end of our story.

The book of Revelation, or Apocalypse, is also a book many readers avoid thinking about, partly because every age has its doomsday prophets, and what they say most of us don’t like to think about. Indeed, many events described in this book read like a horror story or grim fantasy, and the same is true of the Antichrist, who represents all opposition to the Covenants God has made with His people and who harbors evil designs for God’s people. Antichrist, like Lucifer, wants to be a god in his own right, but chooses evil over goodness, rebellion over obedience, and pride over humility. Meanwhile, the good he rejects leads the angels and saints to the Eucharist, and to a share in the divine life which takes its final form as a joyful wedding feast.

Another stumbling block to readers may be that 144,000 is the disturbingly low number given of the good people left when all the tribulations and disasters begin and the end is near.. Does God really exclude zillions of good people through all the centuries? Not a hopeful sign. One would hope the "multitudes" would fill up dozens of football stadiums at least. And yet this new book does take great multitudes on a journey from Tribulation to Triumph. The end of our story (perhaps the reason for God’s revealing his final plans to St. John, the beloved) offers a hopeful future promising peace and everlasting joy and love all around. And, incidentally, the author explains the symbolic value of numbers themselves—and why the 144,000 are usually referred to as a “great multitude” instead of a miniscule remnant of the vast crowds that came before, during, and after our own time. We can take heart.

Another fascinating aspect of this book is the attention given to Old Testament typology: the thorough treatment given of the many prophecies, foreshadowings, and persons who predict or prefigure the life of Christ and many unexpectedly relevant parallels between people, places, and objects of the Old Testament and the New. The future is contained in those ancient volumes. And throughout the ages we have noted many possible Antichrists, but all fall short without the Dragon.

The Antichrist is effectively described as a mockery of the Trinity; Satan, who is the Dragon, and the two beasts, Sea Beast and Land Beast. All are exposed as the great deceivers they are—and in their earthly form they do a great job of enticing their foolish followers to reject the New Covenant for eternal torment. Human history is replete with many candidates for the Antichrist, but the best, or most deceitful and evil, is saved for the last days, and we are told how the story—our story--ends.

I see Apocalypse and Antichrist as a beautiful and hopeful book. No matter how many studies I’ve undertaken first in Catholic schools, now in parish studies, there are always surprising new discoveries that enrich and bless our lives: So many answers given to the problems in our world. The Bible truly is the story of all of us, our hopes and dreams and problems, our guidelines for membership in the community of saints, our pathway to holiness. Thank you, Taylor Marshall

I really enjoyed reading Antichrist and Apocalypse. This has been a riveting topic for generations over its 2,000 year history. It reveals the final chapter in the battle between good and evil on earth, and who would not be anxious to find out how humanity’s journey ends? But it is wrapped in layer after layer of allegory, symbolism, typology and is written in a poetic rather than a documentary style. That would be confusing enough, but it was written 2,000 years ago in a different culture which utilized at various times several different ancient languages.

We need a guide, much like the eunuch in Acts 8:30-31 who lamented to St. Philip how can I understand Isaiah without someone to explain it to me? Fortunately, Dr. Marshall does a great job of doing that for us in a methodical, yet very readable style as he peels back the layers to give us a much clearer picture of what Our Lord is revealing to us.

I am certainly no scholar, but I have gone to Catholic schools through high school, have been reading religious books, magazines & articles for years, listening to & watching Catholic radio & TV for years as well as other Christian literature and yet I learned more in this book about the book of the Apocalypse (he explains why it was named that in his book) than I think I have from all of the other sources combined. When I have read the Apocalypse in the past most of the symbolism and meaning went over my head. There is much confusion over the main actors in this drama. Who is the beast? Is Satan the Antichrist? Gog? Magog? The ten kings? Morning Star? Lucifer? And what do the horns and stars and eyes symbolize?

Dr. Marshall systematically goes through the Apocalypse in a fashion that explains the meanings of the individual words, the symbology, the allegories & the typology. His utilizes a wealth of resources and his footnotes and bibliography will be a good resource for me for future reference.

I appreciate that his focus is on finding the truth and gives competing views from various sources on individual topics, and gives us his opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of those views when appropriate. He is also not afraid to let us know that some of the things will undoubtedly remain a mystery until the end.

The bottom line for me as that this is a very worthwhile book for most people and I am very glad I read it. Our Lord tells us Himself that we will be blessed if we read this prophecy (Apoc 1:3), and St. Jerome told us that ignorance of Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. This book has gone a long way in helping me to understand ‘the end times’ a bit better.

"For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting."
[John 3:16]
Intellectually honest and engaging, filled with the presence of God, Dr Taylor Marshall’s oeuvre ANTICHRIST AND APOCALYPSE: THE 21 PROPHECIES OF REVELATION UNVEILED AND DESCRIBED, A COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF REVELATION, offers a fantastic display of God’s love through the immense and unmerited effort God develops to bring us back to Him.

This oeuvre’s declared intent is to provide a commentary on the book of Revelation but as we progress through its chapters, Dr Marshall ends up taking us through a review of God’s action which made me think of God as the conductor of an orchestra in which all players play their part according to God’s plan even if that is not their intention because,

"And we know that to them that love God, all things work together unto good, to such as, according to his purpose, are called to be saints."
[Romans 8:28]

That is our vocation, to be saints through the exercise of the free will God has endowed us with which, Saint Thomas Aquinas teaches us, is to know and love the supreme good, God Himself, for its own sake. So we have our part to play in God’s orchestra and if we freely choose to do it according to God’s plan, we will be invited to partake in the eternal joy in the New Jerusalem. If we don’t, we will still, somehow and contrary to our will, contribute to God’s plan but will suffer eternal death and damnation.

Dr Marshall’s commentary on the book of Revelation is a scholarly oeuvre filled with references and notes that demonstrate the perfect consistency between the Old and New Testaments and how all events are connected, no matter how far in time or space are from each other. He teaches us that the road ahead is not easy and we must not presume that we will be on the right side when time comes but it gives us great hope because God is in control and He loves us and wants us to be with Him for ever.

I was particularly interested in the depiction of the fiery Christ who annihilates the unholy trinity and the contrast it offers with Christ’s love for those who love Him.

It is a profoundly liberating experience to contemplate the development of Salvation history through God’s actions because, even if we know that many trials and tribulations lie ahead, God prevails in the end. It is as comforting as playing in a ball game when our team is losing but we know that the final score is in our favor.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Excellent for all Catholic Laity

This is another excellent book from Dr Taylor Marshall that is such a treasure, as it encapsulates everything about the Apocalypse into a single book. Having read Dr Marshall’s amazingly informative and eye-opening book Infiltration, I had every confidence in his publications and I was indeed not disappointed.

Since young I have had so much trouble understanding the Apocalypse. I felt that it was just a lot of blood and gore and read it in a chronological manner and got lost in the confusing overlapping events, characters and what or who they represent and wished that someone could explain line by line to me.

When I saw Antichrist and Apocalypse – The 21 Prophecies of Revelation Unveiled and Described, it was a God-send! This book methodically explained everything of the end-times clearly, with illustrations such as the map of the seven hills of Rome and picture of the Sevenfold Menorrah. The biblical scriptures were listed out for easy reference together with relevant commentaries that were extremely helpful, so even a lay person like me could understand and answer the myriad of questions I had, including the etymology of the biblical terms. All the possible questions or views that readers may have at every juncture, including those from other denominations, are so well argued with the author’s impeccably well-researched scriptural evidence. The book was intriguing from start to finish and depicts the fluidity and interconnectivity of the bible’s prophecies from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

The story of God’s love for Adam and Eve despite what they did was well presented and indeed underscores the message of hope in the bible. Dr Marshall’s innate ability to unpack the book of revelation in a manner that is easily comprehensible to the laity is awesome.

Really grateful to have someone with the knowledge and understanding of the biblical scriptures put such tremendous effort to pore through many old church documents for this wonderful book in a nutshell. The detailed explanation in Antichrist and Apocalypse is worth many re-reading to assimilate the well-packed information. This is definitely a book to keep as part of anyone’s collection of Catholic books. Thank you very much, Dr Marshall!

Who isn’t fascinated by a deep, dark mystery? Countless works of fiction have captured the imaginations of millions of readers who can attest to this. What if, however, the deep, dark mystery is not based on fiction? What if it is a stark reality that directly involves and affects the lives of every living soul?
Let’s take it a step further. What if this mystery revolves around the most evil and sinister human character that ever lived past, present or future and who is bent on your destruction in this life and the next? Wouldn’t you be concerned dear reader? Shouldn’t you be concerned?
Dr. Taylor Marshall’s newest work, “Antichrist and Apocalypse,” is unique in that it reveals his (Antichrist's) development through time and tested mini-Antichrists, culminating ultimately, at some point in the future, in a mysterious personality, who will be the most perfectly possessed agent of Satan. This should help laymen and scholar alike shed a more revealing light on this formidable enemy of all mankind. Formidable as he might be though, he is merely the agent of our real enemy, Satan, himself. As such, Dr. Marshall, reminds us that Satan’s strategy has always been to convince us that he (Satan) doesn’t exist, even if that means planting the smallest conceivable seed of doubt in our mind.
Today, the current increase in knowledge and the frenetic pace of living makes us all vulnerable to small seeds of doubt. How else can we understand the confusion and polarization that reigns throughout the world today.
There is only one way to deal with confusion and doubt; in a word, Truth and in a Person, the GodMan, Jesus Christ.
Through extensive research and scholarship, Dr. Taylor Marshall has given us a big picture perspective, through time, based on the primary biblical document relating to Antichrist, viz, Apocalypse, to help us understand how events might unfold leading up to the time of Antichrist and his eventual demise at the end of time.
If I have read his work correctly, I think many readers will be surprised to learn when the actual time of the Antichrist will be. I do not want to give that away but encourage anyone who is interested to find out by reading the book.
In conclusion, I would like to say that this is a book everyone should keep on their shelf, close to their Bible for frequent reference and to also read more than once or twice.

A Revelation on the book of Revelation (the Apocalypse)

The book of the Apocalypse is one of the widest known, but least understood of the books of the Bible. At times describing a fantastical and Shakespearian style depiction of the end of the world and the second coming of Christ. Many scholars, Priests and Laymen have used the last book in the Bible as a means of understanding the battle at the end of time; but how does it link to our past, and how does each event in the Bible reveal the path to its end?
Dr Marshall’s writings “Antichrist and Apocalypse” details the links and pathways to the last book of the Bible and how we can understand its significance in our lives.

Antichrist and the Apocalypse is a comprehensive guide to understanding the links and connections, from the Old Testament, to the New and to the 21st Cent
In the section “One Antichrist or Many Antichrists, it offers an interesting look into the ideas of what an Antichrist is and how they differ from the general evil that we encounter. Dr Marshal shows how Sacred Scripture has already answered this question by showing that heretical notions and sacreligious practices makes one an antichrist, while at the same time differentiating the importance of the emergence of the one antichrist.
Just as Christ is one and with the Father; and with the whole world (with the exception of the Apostles and a small few), deriding and scorning him. The antichrist will be separate and opposed to the father, and with the whole world (with the exception of a small few) being loved and adored by the world, to its detriment and damnation.
As detailed in Dr Marshals book we can clearly see that the Church has gone through many difficulties and persecutions; it is easy to see how people over the centuries have come to the conclusion that the antichrist has already been on the earth. The common link of evil going through history, with the society in the state that it is in, can we say that the antichrist is not among us?

Antichrist and Apocalypse by Dr taylor Marshall is a must read for all the faithful, and is further support to those that find it hard to live a Catholic life in the light of Christ.

Provides clear answers to many important questions!

The world is in chaos. No one today can seriously disagree with this statement. There is confusion in the Church, extreme divisiveness in our culture, and global forces advancing a terrifying one-world agenda. The diabolic has gained power over the last 50 years. Many among both laity and clergy are asking, “Are we in or nearing the end times?” prophesied by Christ in Mt 24, Mk 13, and described by Paul in 2 Thess 2. Today, there is intense interest in learning the truth about the anti-Christ, the son of perdition, and eschatological prophesy.

Using the Apocalypse as a foundation and pulling together Scriptural references from multiple books of the Old and New Testament, references from early Church Fathers, and even writings from heretical authors, Dr. Marshall presents compelling answers to questions like:
• Who is the Antichrist and how can we recognize him?
• Is there one Antichrist of many Antichrists?
• What is meant by the binding of Satan? And if Satan is bound, why is there so much demonic activity in the world today?
• What is the Great Tribulation? What does it look like? Is what we’re experiencing today the early stages of this diabolic attack?
• Who or what is the Beast from the Sea and the Beast from the Land?
• Who or what is the Whore of Babylon?
• Should we be frightened?

I found two aspects of Dr Marshall’s book particularly enlightening: First, he explains how we are to read the Apocalypse (hint: it is NOT written as a chronology of events). Second, in several places he takes the time to address how particular sections have been differently interpreted both by non-Catholic faith traditions and various contemporary Catholic theologians. Helpfully, he supports his interpretations through multiple cross-references.

Overall, this is an outstanding contribution to the challenge of making sense out of the imagery and events of the end times. Written in a way that is accessible to novices, the book nonetheless provides serious fodder for those pursuing advanced study of Scripture.

There are three things you’ll need when reading Dr. Taylor Marshall’s newest book, Antichrist and Apocalypse. The first is a dictionary, so you can look up the words docetic, apostasy, and perdition, all of which appear in the first 24 pages. The second thing you’ll need is an open mind that is ready to learn new things. The third is time, because this is not a book you can read in one sitting. This book has more historical and literary detail than almost every world history book I encountered in high school and college, and trying to assimilate it all in one sitting is impossible.

While the focus of this work is the Book of Revelation, or actually, the Book of the Apocalypse, as it was called before the most recent changes to the Bible, the reader is taken on a whirlwind tour of almost every book of the Bible. We rightly start in Genesis, and we finish our journey in Apocalypse, but no stone in the Old Testament is left unturned, especially if it brings some meaning and explanation to John’s visions. The start of our travels through biblical times is an effort to help us understand who, or what, the pseudo-Christ - the Antichrist - is. Dr. Marshall spends almost 60 pages describing, defining, and detailing who, or what, we will face in the end of times that John describes in painstaking detail in Apocalypse.

He then brings us to the second part of the book, where he walks us through every single chapter and verse of the Book of the Apocalypse – in order! There are charts and lists along the way, but Dr. Marshall’s primary learning tools are links to both the Old and New Testament, as well as world and Greco-Roman history and folklore, that helps us to see more clearly what John is revealing.

And in part three, the grand finale, Dr. Marshall asks us if we are prepared and are ready, willing, and able to serve Christ, the Lamb, on a daily basis? Or do we want to serve the beast, the Antichrist? Do you have the mark of Christ on your forehead, and wish to enter the New Jerusalem? Or do you wish to stand on the sidelines without the keys to the kingdom?

The choice is yours.

Map to the Tree of Life

Does a book with the abomination of desolation and demon locusts from hell sound like a book of hope? By the time you finish reading Dr. Taylor Marshall's "Antichrist and Apocalypse" you will indeed think just that.

As Marshall explains, "The Apocalypse is literally taking away the veil"...to reveal "what God has done, is doing, and will do to finally redeem and restore the creation that He initiated in Genesis."

Taylor Marshall takes us line by line through the Book of Revelation. He calls upon Old Testament Prophets, Church Fathers, mystics, visionaries and even Jewish historians to support his analysis.
He covers alternate interpretations, too, so that we know what's out there, but he is clear on where the Church stands. Marshall is especially helpful in clearing up the overlapping and confusing timelines of the Apocalypse, particularly Chapters 19 and 20 which many want to read chronologically.

In a world where it is constantly being suggested that this person or that person is the Antichrist, I appreciate being able to identify the Antichrist, who will be an Israelite. In fact, we are not in the time of the Antichrist yet. According to Marshall, (and the mystic priest Bartholomew Holzhauser), we are in the 5th of 7 epochs of the Church. The Antichrist comes in the 7th Epoch.

We don't know if we will be on this earth when the Antichrist comes. Would we succumb to the pressure and accept the Mark of the Beast? We know not how long between our time and then, although we are given signs to look for when it is imminent. What we do know is that ultimately, we must care about the end of our own life. We must now choose daily who to serve.

Taylor Marshall's "Antichrist and Apocalypse" will inspire you to ensure that you make it to the New Jerusalem. So read it once and then savor it on the reread and you will find the hope and joy that is within its pages.

Dr. Taylor Marshall brilliantly lays the foundation to understand one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible, the book of Revelation, aka the Apocalypse. I read this book of the Bible a couple of times. Each time I walked away with more questions than when I began reading it. After reading “Antichrist and Apocalypse”, I gained insight into the prophesies of the Apocalypse, their impact on the faithful, the Church and the future.

Throughout his book Dr. Marshall analyzes John’s work from the perspective of the great doctors of the Church, Jewish and pagan authors as well as other relevant sources. He uses these sources to present a very clear and lucid understanding of each prophesy. Dr. Marshall does an excellent job of explaining the linguistics of John’s work, and the linguistics of quoted scriptures used in his book. He takes the time to focus on key words and phrases that have a direct impact on the meaning of a biblical text. His analysis of various scriptural translations shed light on how he and other authors interpret scripture and the impact of this interpretation on their analysis.

One characteristic of Dr. Marshall’s writing style is his straightforward analysis that never pontificates. As I read through the chapters I felt informed and then challenged to think, assess and draw my own conclusions. The way he delivers his thesis is both compelling and to the point. His writing is engaging and enlightening. I never feel as if he is trying to prove himself correct.

After reading this book, it is well worth the time to review the appendices. Each one provides an excellent summary of important concepts covered in the book. I found Appendix 2: The Minor Chastisement an excellent summary of where the world potentially sits in relation to the appearance of the Antichrist. I would also recommend to anyone who has not read the Book of Daniel from the Old Testament to do so.

Have you ever thought already about why the Book of Revelation is called so when the entire Bible is a revelation itself? My personal take is because this book contains all of the Holy Scriptures distilled.
What I learned from the Antichrist and Apocalypse:
The Book of Revelation…
• …can be understood.
• …is to be read.
• …is to be loved.
Having already listened to the podcast series of Dr. Marshall on the same topic some seven years ago, I thought this book would be just the same thing written. I had a reason to do so, as the series is several hours long.
But I was wrong.
Beyond containing all the key themes there, the book has several important additions showing that the author was still researching this huge topic thoroughly during the past years as well. With this background, I find the following topics specifically interesting:
• Holzhauser’s historicist interpretation
• Supposed timeline of future events
• Role of Enoch and Elijah
• Explanation of the millennial reign of Christ (quite detailed)
While Antichrist and Apocalypse is a long book itself, populated with references it is still offering vast possibilities to make further researches on your own. Even if you do not think of Dr. Marshall as a renowned scholar to be listened to, you cannot circumvent the passages in the rest of the Holy Scriptures, the writings of the Holy Fathers, and the visions of mystics verified and approved by the Church supporting his narrative strongly.
Even more, he is writing in a style that is not lost in sophisticated terms of scholarship, but is understandable for all. He is writing about the Apocalypse as if it were the Super Bowl Yesterday. Or the Oil Crisis Today. Or the unfolding of the Ukrainian War Tomorrow. Because it is important, having an impact on our everyday life even now.
So go out there, eat the scroll, and get that blessing!
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

REVIEW OF ANTICHRIST AND APOCALYPSE

Dr. Taylor Marshall's latest work Antichrist and Apocalypse is a must read for any student of the Bible. It is masterfully done in weaving the Old Testament with the New Testament, especially the Apocalypse. This is a scholarly work, easy to understand, and Dr. Marshall's background in both the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures certainly served him well in expounding the details written in this work.

From the beginning of Part 1 on page 9, I was hooked and could not wait to read on; I was not disappointed. The most important part that jumped out at me was how the Jews rejected Jesus; they cried out when Jesus was before Pontius Pilate, who was ready to release Him, knowing He was innocent of their charges: “We have no king but Caesar!” How the religious leaders back then worshiped the State instead of God their Creator. Is it not what is going on today? When Hilary was running for President, Bergoglio could easily have been her running mate. When the Churches were closed during the “Scamdemic” as not being essential, weren't the bishops saying, we now worship the State and what they tell us.

This book has also deepened my spiritual life. Taylor Marshall brings out all the players in “bas relief” most especially the King of kings and Lord of lords, so often hidden in the pulpits of today. I found it like a Bible paint by number: once all the different parts were filled in the picture became so clear, clearer than I have ever experienced it before.

Thank you, Taylor, for this mighty work. May the graces it brings spread far and wide for the Honor and Glory of God!

The Book of Revelation (Apocalypse) Finally Makes Sense!

The final book of the Bible has always been an incredible challenge for me to understand. I have tried a number of things such as reading The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn, reading the Ignatius New Testament Study Bible commentary, and even listening to homilies and podcasts to include Dr. Taylor Marshall's walk-through of the Apocalypse. Through it all, I felt I understood certain aspects of the Book of Revelation, but never the entire thing. I was sort of resigned to just accept that the Apocalypse was a great mystery that I would never come close to understanding. I knew that there was a lot of symbolism that we are not to understand, but I felt I should have understood a lot more than I did.

This book's style of going through the entire Book of the Apocalypse and breaking down everything step by step was exactly what I needed to have a whole new level of understanding and appreciation of this book of the Bible. It was a great study that relied heavily on history, prophecy, the liturgies of the Church and Judaism, the Church fathers, mystics, saints, and other portions of the Bible. I would highly recommend this book to anyone as it is a fascinating topic, but I really appreciated it how a significant portion related to the liturgy of the Traditional Latin Mass. When I tried those other methods of studying the Apocalypse, I was not regularly attending the Traditional Latin Mass, and I feel that was a major piece that was missing.

In summary, I was expecting to get a lot out of this book, but it exceeded my expectations. I have read several of Dr. Marshall's books, and this one may be his best yet.

Wow. This is a book I've been waiting for since Taylor did his video series on the book of Revelation (Apocalypse) almost 6 years ago. The first fifth is a 10,000 foot overview of the book of Apocalypse, the antichrist, and a variety of relevant biblical passages (esp. Daniel, Ezekiel, and Paul's letters). The remainder of the book is a chapter by chapter reading of Apocalypse (often verse by verse) drawing in Old Testament prophecies (Daniel and Ezekiel, also passages from Genesis, Exodus, the Kings cycle, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Maccabees, and others), historical authors (Josephus and Suetonius), patristic authors and interpretations (Augustine, Ambrose, Chrysostom, Irenaeus, Jerome, Justin Martyr, etc.), the mystical tradition (Hildegard von Bingen, Aquinas, Taigi, etc.), and later scholars (e.g. Bellarmine).

The resulting volume is a very accessible, thorough reading of this difficult biblical book that has gone largely ignored by many Catholic authors, thinkers, and clergy for the past 30 years (or more!), leaving Catholics to seek information from Protestant scholars or theologians, or popular literature (Left Behind and the multitude of knockoffs).

This book is a necessary and helpful corrective to that trend that shows the big picture of Salvation History by looking at the whole of it through Apocalypse. It brings together many seemingly disparate threads of Catholic belief and practice while constantly pointing back to scripture.

My favorite part was Marshall's pointing to Asia and Pontus since this was utterly novel to me. The mythological background of Asione's abduction and return serving as a basis for the symbolism used in the Apocalypse (given initially to the new Christians in Asia), was fascinating.

Strong recommendation!

In my life I wished homilies during Mass were more educational and less frilly.
Even with extensive Catholic School education, the Book of Revelation has always been a bit of an enigma to me. There are numerous opinions and theories to explore.
But, like the rest of the Bible, understanding the history, culture, language are all necessary for accurate/reasonable interpretation. I am not a Biblical Scholar or theologian. My approach to this work was to gain and understanding of the Book of Revelation. I became more interested in Revelation after studying the Gospel of John.

In his new book, Antichrist and Apocalypse, Dr. Taylor Marshall systematically presents Biblical, Saintly and modern evidence to support his interpretation of the Book of Revelation. He also provides references for alternative interpretations and evidence as to why they may or may not be reasonable.

The imagery in The Book of Revelation can be heavy and difficult to comprehend to a non scholar. I found the Old Testament links and political history particularly intriguing in interpretation of the imagery.
Dr. Marshall showed me how the language, histories, politics all intertwine and highlighted the importance of certain events in religious history.

No one knows the day or the hour, but understanding what is expected of us, as followers of Christ is crystal clear.

I recommend Antichrist and Apocalypse to anyone who is interested in learning more about the history and interpretation of the Book of Revelation and to anyone flirting with their own theories of End of Times.

One does not simply pick up the Bible, turn to the Book of Revelation, read through it quickly, and walk away enlightened. Indeed, the casual reader will immediately become bogged down in the quagmire of the mysteries and symbolism found in this final book of the New Testament, slam the cover shut, and run away - screaming in frustration. After forty or fifty years he may even forget that he ever made the attempt.

Now, with the world going to Hell in a hand basket at a higher rate of speed than ever, I thought it might be appropriate to check out what God might have to say about the situation. So, I eventually gravitated towards Dr. Marshall's book. As soon as I tucked into it, the memories of my first disastrous foray into this territory as a young man came flooding back. But no worries.

Dr. Marshall is a superb guide. He will lead you on a detailed, comprehensive, and elucidating tour through the Book of Apocalypse, providing an excellent and intelligible commentary on Revelation, explaining it verse by verse. He knows what he's talking about. Dr. Marshall has done meticulous research and provides concrete references from a variety of sources, ranging from Old Testament prophets to Christ's apostles to Catholic mystics, in support of his explanations.

Antichrist and Apocalypse is easy-to-read and easily understood. It is a great read for all who are trying to interpret the signs of the times and prepare.

Dr. Marshall has done an excellent job of weaving together a detailed picture of the end times and what will precede them.

Since there are so many interpretations of the apocalypse out there, some quite peculiar ones among them, I have longed for an understandable, catholic explanation. Thanks to Dr. Taylor Marshall, I have found it now in his great new book. His knowledge of scripture and the old greek and latin help to make sense of the multitude of symbols we come across in the last book of the bible. I found the references to the old testament in interpreting these symbols very helpful.

The part about the destruction of the jewish temple and the signs foretelling it beforehand really moved me. I had read before, that the red woolen threat that used to turn white after the people's sins were forgiven, didn't turn white anymore after Jesus' death. But I had not heard of the other signs before. I guess those that witnessed them could have come to the conclusion that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, but didn't want to see. Unfortunately they kept many others ignorant to this as well. Also I am thankful for the good explanations concerning the great whore, which we as catholics oftentimes get told to be the catholic church. It is great to have solid arguments against this nonsense.

So if anyone wishes to understand this complicated book of the bible and get a trustworthy explanation backed by church fathers and the scripture itself, I highly recommend reading this great work.
May God bless each one who does read it and may it help draw them closer to Him.
