After seven years in prison, Ryker Lewis is obsessed with counting down the last days until his release. Only a few more weeks, and he’ll finally be free. But just as his freedom is coming into view, he meets a woman who quickly becomes his new obsession: Catherine, the new prison nurse, who is so damn curvy it should be a crime. It’s hard to think of anything but her. It’s hard to not want what he can’t have. And when Catherine looks at him the way she does, it’s hard for Ryker to imagine any kind of future other than one where he’s putting a wedding ring on her finger and a baby in her belly. But life doesn’t always go as planned—something Ryker knows all too well. And the past seven years of his life might be too much for their blossoming relationship to handle.
Why do authors mislead readers with titles, covers and blurbs? This was not a story about an obsessed ex-con who was extra hard! This was an upbeat, uplifting, cute story about love after prison. It was very tame, low key and easy to read. It’s not a bad book but I object to the author thinking this is an ott obsessive alpha read, it simply WAS NOT. It had good BBW rep, where she had some insecurities but they weren’t mentioned a lot and the ex-con wasn’t morally ambiguous but self sacrificing and took the heat for his younger brother’s crime. Gah! Read this if you want moderate steam with sweetness and a fairly traditional blue collar story. Don’t go in thinking you are getting a Jessa Kane level crazy, possessive, ott storyline. This guy was as sane as heroes come…. Unfortunately.
I loved this book!! I loved how they met, how they liked each other, how their relationship advanced. I loved it all. Ryker, even with being an ex-convict (in the eyes of the law) still managed to steal my little heart right from the start. And Catherine did as well. With her kind heart, she saw past everything Ryker had been accused of and everything society says about him and found his true heart. Made me love her a million times more.
Great story, wonderful characters and amazing romance wrapped up in a quick, sexy read. 5 Stars.
Extra Hard is the third book in the A Man Obsessed series. I was not sure about this story at the beginning but it quickly turned my heart up and made me melt. Ryker is a good man, even if he has done seven years in prison. Catherine is a nurse who has just moved back to her home town and taken a job as a nurse at the local prison. They meet as Ryker has a heart condition that means he is treated by the prison nurse. So imagine his surprise when instead of the older and mean nurse he finds the curvy beauty standing there reading his file. Sparks fly on both sides but they are in two different worlds and that is even before the age difference. However fate has other plans for these two as Ryker is released after serving his sentence and their paths continue to cross at the strangest times. Ryker is a man who tries to take care of everyone in his life, even if it has cost him his freedom at one point. Catherine sees through the exterior tattoos and past of Ryker to who he really is, and just what he is willing to do for a future that worth fighting for. I really loved this story.
This was a very sweet and honest read. A true to life hero in my eyes considering the huge sacrifice he made for his brother. The writing is done well, a simple town and some good Hfolks. It made for a cozy read but a realistic one.
He was in jail, making a sacrifice of his life for his brother. There he meets someone he can't get out of his head.
I felt like this could really happen. The struggle and the settings were so believable and real. My heart reached out to them. He was such a good man and what a perfect match he found in this good woman. I love simplicity of it all, the town, the just wanting to have an honest and good life. Neither was one for frills or was fussy in any way. Were there struggles? Yes, but it was done in a way that felt real. He meeting, their chemistry and the whole thing, even their families. Perfect. I thought this was so realistic and serene while still having a true to life struggle. It was a story of an honest couple and a good life, what a deserving HEA they both experienced.
This is book number 3 of the A Man Obsessed series and focuses on Ryker and Catherine. Ryker has spent the last 7 years in prison for a crime he took the fall for. He has a heart condition that requires him to take medicine regularly to manage it. This is how he ends up meeting Catherine, the new prison nurse. They both have an instant connection but because of circumstances they can't explore it. When they keep running into each other after his release they decide to see where things go. They end up falling hard and fast for each other. I absolutely loved Ryker and Catherine together and how they constantly fought for each other and their relationship. This was a great story and a great addition to the series!

The third book in Kate Hunt's awesome A Man Obsessed series is the best one yet. Extra Hard is Ryker and Catherine's story. Their meeting is not exactly like a fairytale: Ryker is finishing up a seven-year prison sentence for burglary and Catherine is the new, much-younger new prison nurse who needs to examine him for his heart arrhythmia. When their paths continue to cross after his release, neither can deny their attraction - and soon Ryker's obsession is not just about claiming Catherine as his, but making the kind of life on the outside that is worthy of her. A wonderfully engaging and steamy romance full of well-developed characters and emotional moments.

Ryker meets Christine in jail, he has a heart condition and needs regular checkups, she's the nurse. Because of his reaction to her his heart rate is very high! He has to go back the next day! They are interested in each other, and both have nieces, who are of a similar age. When they meet again Ryker explains how he ended up in prison, and why. Christine has feelings for him but her sister is concerned that she might be getting into something that she won't be able to get out of easily.

Ryker (H40) is days away from completing a prison sentence for a crime he took the rap for when he meets the new prison nurse, Catherine (h25). The pair are attracted to one another, but circumstances don't allow for anything more. Ryker is released and their paths cross outside prison. Catherine sees the good in Ryker, and even as her sister disapproves, the relationship between the two deepens. Sweet age gap, ex-con romantic quickie with a side of heat and a little bit of relationship angst.
This was a really good age gap romance. It took me a little bit of time to get into the story but after the first few chapters I was hooked. Ryker and Catherine had an interesting meet cute and then they kept on having chance meetings and I liked that, like the universe kept throwing them together. I enjoyed it.

Fantastic story. This may be a short read but has the intensity & depth of a full length novel. The sparks between Ryker & Catherine's are white hot as their desire builds. Can this bad boy with a good heart convince his curvy girl that she is his HEA & nothing can keep them apart? Worth more than 5 stars.

Ryker is in prison after taking the fall for his brother. His brother was a father to a newborn and Ryker sacrificed himself for his family. He meets the new prison nurse Catherine a few months before his release. Sparks fly and they meet again a few times outside the prison too. Catherine falls hard and fast and gives Ryker the second chance at life that he deserves ❤️❤️ Instalove, sweet, romantic, steamy and safe with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍😍
5 Star!!! I really enjoyed reading Extra Hard. It was a fast read for me and this is actually the first book that I’ve read by Kate Hunt. The chemistry between Catherine and Ryker is super HOT. Awesome book.
The author has given us a heartwarming story that pulls us into the lives of Ryker and Catherine and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with instant connection, acceptance and steam.

I really enjoyed this quick little story. Ryker and Catherine have great chemistry and are both interesting characters. I like that they both have family around and how they played against each other.

Ryker thinks life can't get any better. He took the rap for his brother to save him from jail, only to end up there himself. Then he meets Catherine in jail. He can't take his eyes off of her.
This was Ryker and Catherine’s story. They meet while he was in prison for something he didn’t do and she was his nurse. The rest is history. A really enjoyable read
I really enjoyed this book, it filled with family, romance💖 and love. We never know what goes on in the life of people and giving second chances. There is no such thing as perfection everyone makes mistakes and some take the blame for others but karma knows your address.
I really enjoyed reading this book, I like how Kate didn’t drag the story out too long. She had the right amount of intrigue, the right amount of skipping around and giving us a good timeframe. Definitely worth the read!
Ryker & Catherine story was short and sweet but also had some family drama. They met under a unique set of circumstances but also the compliment one another.
I enjoyed this short story. It kept me wanting to turn the page and finish it. The characters were great and I was able to connect with them rather quickly. Looking forward to the next novella.
