They're just desserts — and this batch of comeuppance (ka-muffins) is sweet. In these ten tales of terror (plus a bonus story), follow a pet lobster that snaps at nasty home intruders ("Bad Juju with Garlic Butter"), a young girl who uncovers a literal body shop ("Roadkill Alley"), a new hiree whose job has a sinister plot to ruin his life ("The Job Job") and many, many more...
Kamuffins is a clever horror anthology. The book contains 11 stories. Every story is good but they could have all been great if they were fleshed out a little more. This is the author's first book so I look forward to what he can do as he develops.
Personally the stories The Job Job, The Town That Knows No Night, All Hands are Red, Roadkill Alley, and Seven Characters in Search of a Heaven stood out as the best stories within the anthology. The story Soap Scum is so weird while also being an idea I've never read before that it will stick in my mind for awhile.
On page 210, the second full paragraph has 'do' when it should be 'to.' Other than that the book is very well edited. The editing in this self published book is better than the editing in the majority of books that major publishers are putting out.
The book is worth reading if you're looking for a clever and fun collection of short stories.
