The O'Sullivan Sisters #6

Home Is Where The Cowboy Is

Rate this book
Can a feisty loner teach this cowboy what it means to find home?

Sierra O'Sullivan never got anything from her father when he was alive, and considering she wasn't even told he was dead, she doesn't have any expectations there either. So imagine her surprise when it turns out her deadbeat dad left her a ranch in Montana. Well, he left it to her . . . and the six sisters she never even knew she had. But her father's attempt to make peace with his firstborn is too little too late. She has a life, and a future, and there's no room left for a family that never wanted her.

The only saving grace in this blink-and-you'd-miss-it town of Aspire is the hottie ranch hand with the killer smile. His easy humor and laidback charm make it hard to remember that this is just a pit stop. And his kisses . . . they could make even a jaded drifter dream of happily ever afters.

The eldest O'Sullivan sister is shrouded in mystery to everyone in Aspire . . . except Cody Swanson—everyone's favorite, dependable cowboy. He met the feisty redhead before anyone knew she was the long, lost daughter they'd been searching for, and that meeting wasn't one he'll forget anytime soon. Like a burst of fireworks, Sierra comes into his life with passion and intensity. But more than that, she brings questions. Like, does he really want to be tied to a ranch for the rest of his life? For a guy who's spent every day as a devoted brother, son and uncle, the question isn't so simple. But every time he holds the outcast O'Sullivan sister in his arms, he can't help but feel like he's found the answer.

As tensions rise on the O’Sullivan ranch, Cody finds himself caught between two worlds—the one he’s always known and the one that sets his heart on fire…

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Home is Where the Cowboy Is is the sixth book in this series where 7 sisters find out their dad died and they inherited his ranch, the decision about what to do with it must be unanimous. This book is about Sierra, the oldest daughter.

Home is Where the Cowboy Is started off very differently than the other books, Sierra thought her father was long dead as her mother never told her about him. When she realizes that he is alive and maybe he did care as he sent cards and she goes to find him and then finds out that he recently died. I could really feel Sierra's emotion in those first few chapters. And then her first meeting with Cody was very fun to read. I also thought it was great how Sierra actually wants to know more about her father and how she tries to find April as well. I liked finding out a bit more about the father who left them the ranch. I didn't like how Sierra stormed into the ranch and started spewing things like that Frank owed her the ranch, it was obviously the emotions talking, but it didn't really mash for me with the person she was for most of the story and I felt it was a bit of forced drama. I didn't like how it brought Sierra at odds with the rest of the sisters and I was happy when that got resolved.

I liked Sierra and Cody's romance. Their first meeting was fun and I liked how Cody sees through her tough exterior and realizes she was hurting. I liked getting to know more about Cody and Sierra and seeing their romance develop. Although I felt like their big conflict namely she wants to leave and Cody wants to stay hung over their romance like a dark cloud and I couldn't fully relax and get lost in their romance because of that. I figured out how they would resolve it long before the end which made the ending feel less satisfying. And I just wished they would really talk it through instead of both stating their standpoint and not dreaming and speculating and seeing how it might work. Nevertheless I thought these two made for a great couple and I liked how Sierra got Cody to experience adventure and finally step up for himself while Cody becomes a home for Sierra. It was obvious how deep their feelings ran even though they both tried to fight it.

Cody is the reliable son and brother, but never really chased his own dreams or figured out what his dreams where. I felt like there where was some great potential for a nice character development arc, but felt most of it waited till the last chapter and felt kinda flat. I wanted to learn more about him and see the change. For Sierra I liked seeing how she came to terms with her havign 6 half sisters and even how her mother got some closure.

I wasn't a fan of the hostility between Sierra and the other sisters at first as I said before the drama felt a bit forced. I wish they had talked things through earlier and even when things warm up the threat of Sierra's attorney keeps hanging over their heads, and I don't think she ever called him off in the story either. I did like when the sisters started to get to know Sierra and she got more involved in their lives. There are developments from the previous couples and we get to see all of them again. There's also the set-up fro April's story which was well done and makes me excited for her story.

To summarize: I enjoyed this sixth book in the O'Sullivan Sisters series. This time we get to know the oldest sister Sierra and I liked how the set-up was different with her not knowing who her father was and trying to find him and then hearing he died shortly ago. I thought it was interesting how we find out a bit more about their father and even April in this book. I liked the romance between Sierra and Cody, but the conflict didn't really work for me. I figured out the resolution to the conflict earlier than the couple did, it bothered me how they never really talked it through and it felt like this dark cloud over their romance to me. Nevertheless I thought they made for a great couple and liked seeing how they met and grew closer. It was fun seeing more of the previous couples and after the bit of drama with Sierra they all grew closer and got to know each other, which was fun. The ending sets up the story for April and I look forward to her book!

The oldest O'Sullivan sister has finally made her way to Aspire and it was not the happy reunion her sisters anticipated. Sierra had no idea that her father Frank had six other daughters. As far as she knew, her father had abandoned Sierra and her mother when she was just a child. However after discovering letters left to her by her father, she takes off on her motorcycle to go see what ever happened to Frank O'Sullivan.

What Sierra did not expect was to meet a very charming cowboy named Cody who she would come to hussle in a game of pool after a night at a bar that both of them will never forget. Their chemistry was electric and instantaneous. I love how her adventurous spirit was like a beacon calling to Cody and pulling him towards a dream he never thought could be possible. These two were such a great match, they challenged each other every step of the way.

Now, we are left waiting for the youngest sibling April to finally make her way home and Frank's wish will be complete.

Sierra always thought her father died when she was young, so to find letters from him spanning most of her life was a shock. Frank O'Sullivan's oldest daughter heads to Montana to find her father, only to discover he died the year before...and that he left his ranch to her and her six sisters. Sierra travels the world as a nurse. She has no need for a ranch or her sisters. The only thing she does have time for in this little "Hallmark" town is the sexy cowboy she met in a bar. They played a little pool, talked a little talk, and shared the kiss of a lifetime. Maybe. she should stick around a little longer.

Whew! These O'Sullivan girls don't do anything the easy way. I never thought I would say this but I was disappointed in the O'Sullivan sisters. They each knew the shock, pain, and anger of their father's legacy. To see them gang up and form a united front against Sierra was regrettable. Yes, Sierra approached them in the worst way and handled the first encounters all wrong but all they had to do was stop being defensive and see how hurt she was. When we are in pain, we don't always show our best qualities, and Sierra was a great example of this. But instead of being sympathetic, they turned against her and influenced the men who loved them and the town to judge her as well. Even worse, they dismissed Cody's opinion and treated him unfairly as well. Of course, I knew it would all turn out okay in the end, because these girls are too good-hearted to not come to their senses but I wanted to shake them and hug them until they did. I have to admit, it made for a really good, realistic story, and the sister relationship arc was so rewarding. I loved Cody and Sierra. It was unrecognized love at first sight. Their connection was so easy but the relationship was so complicated. They could have benefited from some frank communication early on but I understood their need to pretend. I was hoping for a 6/6 split but loved how it all played out. I know the last sister has been found, so there is only one more book, however, I would love a bonus book. A book once all of the sisters have been found and everyone is paired up. I would like to follow the first year with all of the
O'Sullivan sisters. See their joys, fights, smiles, and tears. There are bound to be some growing pains despite the sisterly bonds. I would like to see their father's dream realized.

As with the rest of the series, this novel is heartwarming, romantic, and well-written. Sierra McNeal uncovers a devastating secret and is horrified to find that she has been lied to her whole life. On leave from her job with a non-profit organization, Sierra is furious with her mother's explanation and sets out to discover the truth for herself. Not realizing how close she had come to finding her answers, her brush with Cody Swanson seems like a once-off meeting, but he is in fact very much part of the lives of the O'Sullivan sisters. Forgetting how tense and reluctant they were when discovering Frank's bequest to the sisters, they band together against Sierra's aggressive stance towards them, and the fact that Cody is related to them by marriage makes Sierra even more angry. However, it is Cody who can see beyond the simmering feelings and he sets out to pour oil on troubled waters. Cody has always been the one his family has depended on, to the extent that he no longer has any aspirations for himself. Spending time with Sierra opens his eyes to the possibilities for the future. Although emotions run high throughout this novel, the attraction between Cody and Sierra is intense and it does come to a delightful and happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

After finding out her mother had lied to her about her father all of her life, a very angry Sierra is on her way to Aspire to claim her inheritance as the oldest O’Sullivan sister. She will quickly realize that the cowboy she meets on her first night in Montana will become very important to her. Cody has always been devoted to his family, but the newest O’Sullivan sister will make him begin to question his decision to stay in his hometown of Aspire. While he wants very much to be with Sierra while she travels the world, he hesitates to leave the family who depend on him.
I loved these characters, of course I loved all the characters in all of the books in this series, they are compelling, well written, and unique in their own ways. Sweet, clean, romance with some humor, and a couple unexpected twists that kept me engrossed. I highly recommend this book and series.

Once again this author has a winner, sister #6 the eldest Sierra arrives. She's angry and grieving and sets off on the wrong foot making herself an enemy. Except of course to Cowboy Cody who met her in town. I loved their chemistry. Sierra is lost, she has a wonderful job and a life but was shocked to find her father, then to find she's too late. His Will is crazy, she just felt owed and out of place.
This was a wonderful story of family and small town life. I fell in love with all the characters, felt their emotions and admired their journeys. Sierra and Cody had a lot to work out, neither wanting change until they followed their hearts. I was teary by the end.
Wonderful series, I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and I really adored getting this one. This is the 6th book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone it does have recurring characters, main couple is new focus, and there is an over arcing story line throughout the series. There are definitely some twists and turns in this book as we watch another sister that has been hurt and looking for answers from a man that is no gone and left her with sisters she didn't know about, hasn't met, and isn't sure she wants much to do with. I loved watching Sierra and Cody come together and build a relationship. Their connection is very real and immediate and while they don't advertise that they had met before she shows up at the ranch, they can't deny and avoid each other much either. This story felt realistic and really pulled me in the entire time. I can't wait for the next book in the series with the last sister and to see how it all plays out in the end. This story is very well written and is a clean read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A heartwarming and emotionally beautiful romance

I loved, loved Cody and Sierra’s opposites attract, short term fling romance with a side of finding your path. Reading this story and getting to know more about the people in Aspire is sweet, heart warming and joyful. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. It is a beautiful emotional journey of all the words. This book was full of all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, sighing, and teeth grinding. Sierra is the oldest daughter of Frank O’Sullivan. When she learns her father’s name after stumbling on some old cards, she decides to go meet him. When she gets to Aspire, she learns he’s dead and she has six half-sisters. Cody is a ranch hand on the O’Sullivan ranch and as all his close friends are pairing off, he is feeling restless. Cody and Sierra’s meet cute involves a mystery girl and a cowboy who both enjoy a memorable evening at a bar without realizing they will meet again the next day at the ranch. Unfortunately, Cody is entrenched on the ranch in this small town and Sierra travels to remote areas with a medical relief organization. But feelings rarely care about logistics. On their way to their HEA, Cody and Sierra have to both learn a lot about choices, love, trust, inner strength, and letting go of things that are no longer serving them. The story included sweet moments, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. While this is a standalone, there is an overarching storyline of the ranch and the inheritance, so I would recommend reading the books in order. I am excited to read the love story of the last of the O’Sullivan sisters.

Sierra is the oldest of the O’Sullivan children. When she finds out her father isn’t actually dead, sent her birthday cards (like we’ve found similar to the rest of the sisters), and thought about her, she storms into town trying to declare what she feels is rightfully hers.

Honestly, the villainous aspect was a different approach. She seemed like a porcupine in a way, anyone said anything, she would throw down with them, bearing her quills. She was scared and angry, emotions that don’t settle well after finding out her father is dead. It was tougher to get into because I honestly felt bad for her and for everyone she would lash out on. Not that she meant it but it wasn’t the friendly, happy-go-lucky sister that it seemed the rest were. She was a lot like Delilah, an acquired taste.

I’m really thankful she’s a nurse and honestly tries her best to help the less fortunate. She tries her best and her romance with Cody was absolutely sweet. Cody was so understanding of everything. He also had that soft nature where he would take over and help everyone out in need. They suited each other very well. It takes a while to get into it, more than some others but it’s really good. And April is next!! I can’t wait!!

I forgot to mention that I received an ARC copy for a honest review.

Sierra was raised only by her mother and grew up believing her father was dead, but when she discovers that he sent her letters on her birthdays, she sets out to find him. On the way she meets cowboy Cody Swanson and they spend a few moments together and the connection between them is immediate.
However, when she arrives in Aspire, she discovers that Frank O'Sullivan has passed away some time ago. In the face of all the surprises, the first meeting with one of her sisters is not the best.
The O'Sullivan sisters band together to try to protect the ranch, while Cody tries to give Sierra as much support as possible.
As time passes, the relationship between Sierra and her half-sisters improves, as well as her relationship with Cody, but they know that this has a deadline to end, as she will return to her work in Venezuela.
Will Cody be able to let her go when the time comes? Or is the love between them bigger than anything else and will one of them give up their life as it currently is?
I loved the story and the characters. I highly recommend the reading.

Finding Home

Sierra went to find her father, only to discover he was dead. She also had six sisters she knew nothing about. Her resentment was palpable, which alienated her from everyone. Would the warmth and love she discovered in the small town where she found herself help her to let go of her bitterness?

Sierra had a loving family she did not expect, and she was falling in love with the cowboy she met on her first day in town. However, Sierra was a traveler, and Cody was a man who stayed in one place because his family might need him. Could these two souls reach a compromise, or would Sierra have to leave her heart behind when she went back to her job?

This is a sweet, heartwarming, small-town romance. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. Although this story can stand on its own, it would be much more fun to start the series from the beginning so you can read the stories of the other sisters. They are all enjoyable, sweet, and heartwarming.

Home Is Where the Cowboy Is

This is a really good addition to the O’Sullivan Sisters series. Sierra had a complicated background. Her father was out of the picture and her mother was bitter and critical. She discovers letters to her from a man she thought had abandoned her and seeks answers. Cody enjoys working on the O’Sullivan Ranch with his brother and friends, taking care of his parents and being a sitter for his brother and sister in law to go out; until he meets a wonderful and interesting mystery woman. When he discovers she is one of the lost sisters, he sets about trying to help her. He didn’t count on falling for her because she is planning to leave as soon as the ranch business is complete.

I am so surprised that I liked this book, and Sierra in general, after reading her intro at the end of Daisy’s book! So glad I gave her a chance!

What I loved😍: Cody and Sierra scenes away from the ranch; Cody sticking up for Sierra; Sierra’s growth but also her sticking with her dreams; Sierra supporting Cody like he supports everyone else; the Sierra and Emma scenes

What stood out😱: The rest of the sisters and their husbands in the beginning half of the book - why couldn’t they remember what it was like to come into Aspire after being blindsided??

What I didn’t enjoy🤨: Sierra’s mom amping her up without all the details

The continuation of the O'Sullivan sister does not disappoint! Sierra O'Sullivan doesn't want anything to do with the ranch that her father left her and the 6 sisters she knew nothing about when he died! When curiosity finally wins out, she goes to Aspire and finds much more then she bargained for...a beautiful ranch, amazing, loving sisters and a ranch hand who knocks her socks off! Too bad ranch hand Cody Swanson will never leave Aspire and Sierra's wanderlust will not allow her to settle down in Aspire! Great read!

Another wonderful story in Aspire with the O’Sullivan sister. After finding the truth about his father, Sierra takes her bike to claim the part she never got from him. Once she meets her sisters she starts to wonder if all she ver knew about her past is true or if she was missing an important part of herself, and the person to open her heart, even if he is a hometown cowboy unwilling to left his home.

Excellent Series

The O’Sullivan Sisters Series is one of the best romantic series I’ve enjoyed. Stirring, sweet, with angst tossed in to whip the stories cohesively, this series brings together seven sisters most who have a no idea the other exists. Enjoy as you get to know these seven sisters, though half sisters, as they blend and meld forming a big, loving, diverse, and interesting family.

Another great story about these sisters. They have slowly begun to collect all of the O' Sullivan sisters. Sierra was a real surprise and her falling in love with Cody. Their trip to Venezuela and still trying to find the last sister. Enjoy their story.

I loved watching Cody get a HEA. The back and forth between the main characters was so cute and so on cue. She came in a blazing when all she needed was family. So glad they were able to work it out. Can't wait to wrap this series up with the last sister. Even though I was hoping Ethen had a HEA too. We will see.
