A great look at Cognitive Load Theory for teachers in a digestible little volume. It has expanded my understanding of Cognitive Load Theory and has given me much to reflect upon and further refine my teaching practice to ensure I am providing optimum learning experiences for my students. I will continue to return to the text as I do so, and if will also inform my coaching and mentoring of classroom teachers at my school.
Cognitive Load Theory is one of the concepts that truly fascinated me in my master’s classes, and this little book was an excellent overview of the basics of the theory for educators and how to use it to improve student outcomes in your teaching practice. The book is nicely broken up into digestible little chunks that a busy teacher could read in just a few sessions and easily refer back to later if desired.
