Cronus Society: a shadow organization operating in the grey between humanity and the secret supernatural world. To some, Cronus is a monster. To others, it’s the only defense against a paranormal apocalypse.
In the prison of a possessed soul, he finds me.
In a field of blood, they hunt me.
Bastian, Daemon, and Hannibal…
Once the golden boys of the Silver Plains, the angels I desired in secret are now fallen soldiers in Lucifer’s legion.
Dark, dangerous, and hungry—for me.
Treaties be damned, they kidnap me from the secret society blackmailing me for my gifts, and they won’t release me until I accept that while I loved them from afar a lifetime ago, they loved me too.
That I have always been the missing piece of their heart bond.
Me. Once an angel of no importance, too cowardly to fight.
Me—an angel no more.
We strike a deal. We owe it to ourselves to explore what fate foretold.
The time was wrong back then.
But now?
Trapped in the vast wastes of Hell, scheming fallen and demons aplenty, with three chances for my scarred princes to woo me…
Well, now might not be the right time either, no matter how our hearts burn to bond.
Kiss of Death is a standalone Why Choose romance set in the Cronus Society universe. It is a comfort read, aka low anxiety with heroes who worship their beloved, and is told exclusively from the heroine’s POV. It features the It’s Always Been You trope, which can feel a bit like insta-love, and no cliffhangers. Books in this series can be read in any order. Please heed the warnings listed at the start of the book.
Rhea Watson is a Canadian paranormal romance author who writes lone wolves and found family, fated mates and forever love. She dreams about living in a cottage in the woods that would make any fairytale witch jealous, and wishes every day was Halloween.
In her spare time, Rhea babies her herb garden, watches hilariously bad horror movies with her own hero, bows to her cat's every whim, and flies through Netflix shows like it's her day job.
I am going to blow out a long emotional breath for this one. I'm a mess after reading this book. Let me explain why. First and foremost the writing was absolutely breathtaking to read. As a writer, I appreciate each turn of phrase, every poetic inflection. It was masterful to behold. As a reader, I fell in love with these characters....I laughed and felt their pain. I was so in love with Aurelia's men!! Some of my favorites so far. Aurelia's journey, her growth in one book. Finding herself and the men she lost, it was a joy to take the journey right along with her. OH man!! Can I have more of Lucifer please? I really enjoy his cameo appearance. Bastian, Daemon, and Hannibal...yes please. This book!! Ugh...no words. And now to the heart of the matter...it was the acknowledgements that hit me the hardest. I have loved each every one of Rhea's books....and honestly, this book felt like you laid yourself bare. I felt it. I felt you. Burnout is real. I am fighting hard to keep my own at bay so your words hit home. Thank you for giving us the readers a glimpse of your struggle. Take your time. Write as slowly as you need to. I will be here, eager, waiting patiently to devour your prose.
This was an ok read but I wanted to like it more than I did. Found this was hard to stay focused on and care. The blend of sweet and evil kind of canceled one another out leaving a disjointed but still smexy read. The heroine basically works as slave labor for the Cronus society all while they control and manipulate her powers. After trying to save a woman’s soul after being possessed she catches the eye of some demons who refuse to let her go and so they follow her into the real world. There’s a hidden history between the heroine and her harem that I found very confusing. She only remembered bits and pieces of their past at a time and it became hard to put all the pieces together in my head. I do appreciate that this was a standalone and RH but I do wish there was less history between the characters because it made me as a reader feel like a third wheel.
3.5 stars. I got click happy not considering the mood I was in, I picked it up at the wrong time. I liked it. It was soft and the guys were sweet and possessive. It was a smooth read with no twists and fluff. I liked that Cronus can be seen as both good and bad. I'm liking the whole grey thing as well. I'm curious about Lucifer. He seemed startled when Lia called him big brother. The poke the bear line stuck with me.

Well written. Lots of world building. Intriguing characters who I wanted to get to know. It wasn’t a slow build but their relationship progression made a lot of sense. Would definitely recommend.
Aurelia has spent centuries alone among the humans. Once an angel, she's neither human nor fae now but similar to both. Wingless, immortal, protector of humans and nature, hated by angels, fae and humans alike. And her servitude, er, job sucks. But she's taken from it and into Hell by 3 fallen she never thought to see again. And they have an offer she's both desperate for and afraid of...
Spoilers ahead. Ok, so immediate star loss for a very important ommission in trigger warnings: threatened r*pe. Also, for exhibitionist scenes. Not everyone wants to read the latter, and the former definitely needs a warning. The story was interesting but they never really explained why they waited centuries before making their move. Or how bonds were decided on. Is it a pull? Is it more like a decided on pact? Is it their version of family or friends or business or all of the above? Since angels were created, can they procreate? Or is their creation controlled? Since they have undergone metamorphosis does that change their biology? She feels the need to protect humanity. How long is she going to be able to deal with them training demons who possess humans? Especially since she knows firsthand the long-term suffering even those who survive it go through. The story was interesting. The blend of mythologies and theologies, legends and modern technology woven together. Some of it was a little OTT, and I started skipping that to get back to dialogue. I would have loved to see her daily bonding with her fallen, interactions with demons and discovering more about Hell instead of the time jumps. And seriously, dangling alien tech in front of us and then blithely moving on... cruel lol. I have so many questions.
This book was so so good and also I want to go to there 🥹
In Summary: Aurelia? We love her. Bastian? We want to go to all the freaky sex parties with him. Hannibal? Daddy. Daemon? Precious little emo baby.
These were completely new characters but the whole ass attachment I formed!! I feel like they were really done justice in the end after being without each other for such a long time. We love a second chance romance. We love it hard. ‘We’ being ‘Me’.
A few things I really loved about Kiss of Death were the stunningly detailed descriptions we get for the scenery and the characters and atmosphere that just completely puts you right into it all, and the super clever writing that gives you just enough relevant information about the history and backstory without feeling like you’re trying to learn a whole encyclopaedia of information.
It's liiiiive! You can snag Aurelia's romance with her fallen angels on Amazon and KU! Thank you to all the readers who love my comfort read series -- it means the world to me. xo
Looks like Cronus has yet to learn their lesson when it comes to supernaturals. I really enjoyed Kiss of Death, it's the second book in Watson's Cronus Society series and it was great. This book follows a brand new group of supernaturals as they try to win over their girl. Ready or not here comes the Fallen.
With Kiss of Death, Rhea created the most unique mythology I've ever seen. The supernaturals in this story are angels, but not just angels, there are the Fallen who are of course those who rebelled with Lucifer but then there are the Fallen who turn into faeries. It's a whole complicated thing that I can't explain and takes a minute to understand but once I did, it was fascinating, the mythology was so unique and very detailed that I couldn't help but want to learn more. Then there was Rhea's take on Hell, which is very human looking but with a darker twinge and alien tech. Hell had its dark and twisted parts but also had its beauty. As you can probably tell the world-building is excellent, I could go on for a while.
The story follows Aurelia, a forest, and the three Fallen who will stop at nothing to have her. I guess you can say that this is a second chance at first romance. Both parties feel a certain way but things fall apart before they ever come together. Aurelia "Lia" is so nice, I like her and I empathize with her, she's made herself so small to make those around her feel better. I was proud when she found her ground and stood up for herself. Yes, there were consequences but it's something that she needed to do.
I have a bunch of feelings about the guys, they aren't all bad, mostly shades of grey. Daemon is respectful and controlled, Hannibal is warm and comforting (my favorite of the three), and Bastian is playful, I mostly like them. I don't like their jobs in Hell but they don't seem all evil. They have joy in small things and obviously care deeply for Lia I could tell from their actions, they have the "touch her and die" down packed. They also seem a little selfish with some of their actions but they help her grow into a stronger version of herself. Like I said I have complex feelings but overall I liked them when a guy is willing to burn down the world for a girl, how could I not?
I really enjoyed Kiss of Death, I'm glad that after everything Lia and the guys find their way to a HEA. KoD was a good addition to the series, with the shadiest organization ever known messing about, deadly supernaturals looking for love, and unsurmountable power, no wonder I love this series, best of all there are plenty more books to come.
Long ago Auriella was a sweet and innocent angel who spent her days frolicking through heaven, laughing, and dancing among the flowers. Then war came to heaven and Auriella didn't feel like she was cut out for war, she was too "weak." So she cried out to God asking to be sent to Earth so that she could care for the planet and its inhabitants. She became the first fallen angel, though she never actually fell. Auriella lost her wings, she was alone and scared in this new place. She locked away the memories of the three angelic warriors she'd loved from afar deep within her heart and swore never to think of them again. And so it went until....
Three angelic warriors sided with Lucifer in the war between the heavens. When the war was lost the warriors were cast down to Hell and they became Fallen. But they never forgot the one sweet "golden" angel they loved from afar. They searched for her for centuries, millennia...but she was never to be found. Until one day during a routine possession...
The Fallen corrupt humanity. Auriella swore to save humanity...can their newfound love survive their conflicting morals?
I think the reason I didn't rate this higher is because their relationship was too uncertain until the absolute very end of the story. She was holding back, the men were holding back...I didn't appreciate the prolonged uncertainty. Not to say anyone else would find this off-putting, but I wanted a bit more out of the relationship.
This was a nice story, I enjoyed it. I probably won't read it again.
- Single, first person POV - Fantasy Reverse harem (3 men in harem) - Angels/demons, mythology - Triggers: kidnapping, public sex with observers (first time), blood and gore - No MM - No OW/OM drama - Kinks: DP, dub-con/non-con exhibitionism (the guys have sex with her for the first time while demons watch. FMC doesn't like it, but she doesn't try to make it a big deal).
I've been reading this author, under one pen name or another, for some time now, and she never fails to wow me. So, at the risk of repeating myself - Wow! The writing, the story, the characters, the cover! All of it, just wow! We're back in the Cronus Society world with fallen angels. Bastian, Daemon, and Hannibal are ready to pull out all the stops to win Aurelia's heart. Each of the three brings a little something different to the relationship, and they're all fiercely protective of Aurelia, who is so much stronger than anyone could guess - and maybe doesn't need quite so much protecting. She certainly holds her own with her three sexy-as-sin fallen angels. As indicated in the blurb, a lot of this story takes place in Hell, and Rhea Watson's imaginative version of it is unlike any I've come across. We also get Rhea's wonderfully descriptive writing to paint a picture of it that we can see as the story progresses. From the gates to travel back and forth to a rejuvenating pool to a visit with Morningstar himself, this is a well-crafted and fascinating world. Rather than go on and risk revealing the book's secrets, I'll move on to the writing, which is just exceptional. That is the one constant across this author's books: regardless of the pen name or the genre, she has a way with words that only adds to the enjoyment of the story. Her writing always reminds me of some of the classics. Where the prose is a little flowery but not so much as to fall into the purple category. There are often lines that I'll read, and they're so good I have to read them again. I'm a note taker, and I tend to jot things down as I'm reading, but as usually happens with this author, I was so pulled into the characters and their story that I read the last line and realized I hadn't jotted a single note - and I read the whole thing straight through.
I always love Rhea’s writing, some of her books have a special place in my heart more than others but the writing is always lovely.
That said, the only critique I have at all would be I wish we saw more relationship development in general in this genre. It’s not just her, it’s a genre wide issue.
But in this story, we didn’t really get to see them fall in love because that happened a long time ago in the past. I wish we would’ve seen more of a reason for her to fall in love with them besides hero worship and the fact that they were all very very beautiful.
I wanted more depth and more of the intellectual and emotional side of relationship development other than everyone is just very attracted to each other and they have a special magical fated mate bond.
I understand with this genre of books everything is really centered around “steaminess”, personally as a demisexual it is hard for me to connect to characters that see love and physical intimacy as the same thing. Especially if that psychological and emotional bond hasn’t been developed first.
Everything felt very “love at first sight” which is beautiful and wonderful and I’m sure a lot of people like that kind of thing, so it’s probably just a personal preference thing.
Other than that, it was really good! The world building was interesting and felt like a fresh take on the fallen angels thing and I love the protective obsessed lovers trope. It’s the best!
Rhea has a writing talent that strikes the heart and seeks deep for emotional responses pulled from our souls. Kiss of Death features an achingly repressed Aurelia, an Aos Si who has avoided all contact with anything heaven or hell for millennia. We meet her when she is broken down, tucked away, hiding the memories of better times and retreated within her own tragedy. Her sad existence is altered with the arrival and subsequent quasi-kidnapping by Hannibal, Daemon, and Bastian. The three fallen have to be some of my favorite harem men. There is beauty, depth, and a fierce belief in Aurelia within their characters that give the men a pull and desperation that is endearing.
The Cronos Society has well built worlds within it, and Kiss of Death is no different. The descriptions Rhea weaves for us are lush and ripe. You will feel the slide of silk, taste the lightening ozone, tilt your head to avoid the loud cacophony, and smell the fresh baked goods. It's a talent and skill that proves her author status is well deserved, and the reason why I await new releases with baited breath. The relationships are developed singularly as well as a group, and I appreciate the unevenness that occurs as Aurelia learns to trust and open her heart to the fallen. As much as I love a good standalone, I would never say no to a return trip to Aurelia. Her well written vulnerability and ensuing strength, left me sweetly sad at the end, and I hope a Cronos Society trilogy is in the works.
I really enjoyed the level of complexity the author puts into all her characters and this was no different. In a way this might be a second chance at romance which I found sweet because the characters not only have to rediscover their feelings about each other but how they had changed over time.
I always appreciate the author's world building and found it an interesting take on how Hell operates. I do wish that we were able to explore some of the other aspects but it was fun to see and read about. I know the focus isn't on the world as much but I was fascinated by it while reading. lol
I personally would have liked a little more plot as the Cronus Society didn't really play a huge role in the middle of the story but did play larger roles in the beginning and end. The writing read and flowed easily so I had no problems imagining the characters or world. However, I did have a little problem with the pacing wanting more tension or stakes with Aurelia's time in Hell.
The ending was good and had a nice climax but definitely wanted a little more. I'm still happy and satisfied with the ending.
Overall, another good read from Rhea Watson! An interesting view on fallen angels and the fae!
3.2 out of 5 for me!
(An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review. I leave this review voluntarily and I was not compensated in any other way.)
With a simple second chance-ish plot, this is a great standalone for when you're between books.
I don't really care for the Cronus Society that pretty much rule over the supernatural in this world. I know that's the overall aspect of this series, the agency that enforces the supernatural to obey and conform, and how the supernatural find ways to love and live around them, but I just don't like them.
The main characters in this book were good, simple and not over the top. I liked how the FMC stuck to her nature, even when standing up for herself and defending herself, she never changed who she was. She's a soft character at heart and while I love a good bad*ss FMC, its nice to have the opposite once in a while.
And the MCs were great too. Different personalities from each other and consistent too, they didn't feel like just a copy and paste of one another. The way they pushed to show the FMC what they wanted -her- while not pushing themselves on her was great. While I enjoy dark romances from time to time, there's just something about dark characters NOT treating the FMC darkly that I love.
The overall story does jump around a bit, being a standalone that's bound to happen. I wish there had been a bit more adventure/action with this book, but that wasn't what it was about. Its definitely about the connections the love interests share and finding themselves together again.
Kiss of Death by Rhea Watson is set in the Cronus Society world, and it was such a captivating read! Who doesn't need a paranormal reverse harem in their lives? I definitely always do, and Bastian, Daemon, and Hannibal sure do deliver!
Aurelia packs a punch! The more she is revealed, the more resilient she becomes to survive everything thrown at her, I loved her more and more. So dynamic, so layered, so much to adore.
Bastian; hedonistic, quick to anger, emotional, driven. Daemon; distant, removed, quiet, commanding. Hannibal; sweet, giving, focused, determined. These three beings balancing one another out, ready to lay it ALL on the line for the one that they've loved forever and a day, the one that'll complete them.
This story has it all! Heroes ranging from growly to gooey. Chemistry so hot it'll sizzle the tips of your fingers as you turn the pages! Some drama, some light angst, a bunch of obstacles. And at the very center of it all, four bonds that are meant to be, and will do whatever it takes to do exactly that, just be. And it's a journey you'll love!
So, what are you waiting for? Dive in, and find out why succumbing to who you really are, who you're meant to be, and who you're meant to be with is exactly what the doctor ordered!
I enjoyed the depiction of everyday life within Lucifer’s kingdom – a veritable cornucopia of chaos, corruption, decadence and all things wicked. The perfect environment for fallen angels and demons alike, but not so much for Aurelia, who’s dedicated to protecting, not subverting.
Given Aurelia’s true origins, it was easy to understand her desire to avoid close scrutiny from the Cronus Society, but I found her ongoing self-recriminations when things went sideways to be annoying after a while. It was therefore so delicious (and albeit somewhat frightening) when she truly accepted and embraced her inner monster, thus allowing her darkness full reign – consequences be damned.
This well written, descriptive tale is told through Aurelia’s POV. There’s plenty of drama, some mystery, danger, brutality, and violence along with several steamy, explicit encounters, including ménage, but no MM scenes. I’m looking forward to reading more stories set in this secretive world.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There's a reason Rhea Watson is one of my favourite authors, her books have the ability to drag me in and captivate me until they're finished. One of the reasons I love the Cronus society series is that on the whole, the angst is low. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't detract from the story, but sometimes you just need a read where the main character is not thrown from pillar to post.
This story is about love, a love that literally spans the centuries. Aurelia was an angel, and she willingly fell to earth when she realised she was not cut out for heaven. Tasked with taking care of hearth and home, she has been blackmailed into helping Cronus do exorcisms. It is in the soul of a possessed woman that Aurelia comes face to face with one of the three men she has loved from afar for centuries. Little does she know they have been searching for her since the day she fell. And when they come after her....
Loved this story, loved the characters, can't wait for the next book
Definitely different 🧡 This has some really interesting takes on the Fallen mythology and Irish folklore! Aurelia is Aos Si and essentially one in the world as there’s so few of them and their isolated creatures, she’s currently being blackmailed by Cronus Society to do their bidding 😩 a chance encounter brings her into contact with Fallen Angels…little does she know these Fallen are about to take drastic action to have her!! There’s something about these three Fallen Angels that just calls to Aurelia - there’s Daemon the silent stoic with something brewing; then there’s Hannibal who is incredibly sweet, caring and thoughtful; and finally Bastian who’s chaotic, over the top and a constant flirt 🥰 Caught in the politics of Hell, Aurelia knows she doesn’t belong there at all, but can these supposed heart bonds of hers persuade her to give them a chance?? And can they even manage the hold Cronus has on her?! 😳
Alright, here we go. Where to even start? I have to say this. I love this author. I love how she uses every ounce of beautifully crafted description to create a feeling so effectively. It painted such a pretty picture in my mind. I love how the story blended together so seamlessly with every well-written paragraph and every unique character. It was a journey I could get sucked into and exactly the kind of story I wanted and needed right now. This was written from the female's perspective and I honestly enjoyed it and her growth so much.
I absolutely loved her fallen men and their unravelling romance. Those guys were fire through and through. I could read a whole damn series with them. I was sad it was over and I want to reread it just to soak in this world some more. Loved it. I will always read a Rhea Watson book, without question. <3
This is a why choose paranormal romance with a secret society and fallen angels told from the FMC’s POV. I love Rhea’s prose. There’s just something so magical about the way she writes descriptions that makes me a little bit feral. Every time Aurelia embraces her own inner darkness was just chef’s kiss, and the way that the fallen angels that love her just want her to take up space in the world and grab what makes her happy is yet another thing that makes me feral about this story. This one is a standalone within the Cronus Society universe and you don’t need to read any others to enjoy this one.
Do mind the content warnings with this one. There’s a few things I would add to the list, such as dubcon, graphic murder, and the threat of sexual violence since they are not listed in the version I read.
I tend to always read a book first before I look at the reviews as I don’t want a bias going in, and im so glad I didn’t!
First things first, this book is so beautifully written, and I knew even just a few lines in I’d love it. The authors way of describing things and setting a scene is so refreshing from other books, I couldn’t help but feel mesmerised whilst reading.
I love Aurelia, so so so DAMN MUCH! She’s such a beautiful mix of that sunshine goodness whilst also maintaining the fact shes a fully grown woman (?) (fallen angel???) (aos si???) and standing her own ground but also allowing her bonds take control on occasion. AND HER BONDS!!!!
They are all so perfect, im so jealous of her! broody daemon, total flirt and charmer bastian and our loveable golden retriever Hannibal. Ugh, if they were real, best believe i’d be fighting for them!!!

I just genuinely loved this book so much! It was so effortlessly done, I quite literally felt what I was reading, I was so absorbed in it. The healing and growth that Aurelia experienced in this book just really got to me in a very good way. Add on to that the fact that there are three very hot and possesive Fallen angels and some very hot spice , all make for one very exciting and excellent read.
🔥 Why Choose romance 🔥 Fallen angels 🔥 One POV - Aurelia's 🔥 Morally grey MC's 🔥 Touch her and you die trope 🔥 It's always been you trope
🔞 18+ read due to spicy content and triggering themes. A full list of trigger warnings and tropes can be found at the beginning of the book, as well as on the authors Instagram posts.
Once again another beautiful, well written story. With all the feels, tears and laughs I could not put this book down! I adore Aurelia, and her dedication to helping those that needed it, and those that did not earn it. I hated that she was held captative by Cronus, not in the literal sense that she was in a cage, but using the once thing she treasured most to make her comply to their demands. Then, three men from her past step in, Bastian, Daemon and Hannibal. At first she can not remember how she knew them, but as the story grows, all the memories start to come back. I really wish we could have gotten the back story more on there relationship from the before. But, holy smokes the chemistry between them all. I highly recommend reading this book!
I adored this book. There is something special about Rhea Watson's style of writing that draws you in, and the sheer amount of detail in her world building is always fabulous. Kiss of Death was no exception. It had a great storyline, I felt like I could really understand Aurelia's motivations, and the three fallen were just delicious, each in their very distinct way. Never thought I'd have a crush on a fictional fallen angel named Hannibal, yet here we are.
Spicy, a little sweet and just damn interesting. Highly recommend.
Although this is book 2 of the Cronus Society this series is made of standalones set within a shared world. Sometimes Cronus are the good guys, sometimes they are the bad. I think that’s my favourite thing about these books, we are seeing both sides set out with interconnecting stories. Brilliant. It did take me a few chapters to get in to and the ending seemed abit abrupt - however that might just be me wanting more of Aurelius story. I hope this isn’t the last we see of this deliciously dangerous group of characters. Overall this is an enjoyable short read completed over 3-4 hours.
Rhea is back & this Cronus society instalment, takes a fresh look at a FMC.
Aurelia, an angel chose to fall to earth, & lose her wings, because she felt she was too soft, too gentle to be a Guardian. She was wandered & protected earth for centuries.
Now she finds herself reuniting with some of the fiercest guardians. These guardians followed Lucifer & now serve as some of the greatest officers in Hell.
Can she reconcile her attraction for these men & the her dislike for hell?
Rhea has a writing style that captures your imagination so fully her words are like brush strokes that create a masterpiece before your very eyes, this is one you won't be able to put down.
I absolutely love Aurelia her journey and growth throughout the book and rediscovering the men she lost. Bastian, Daemon and Hannibal were absolutely delicious and I want to keep them all, Aurelia is a very lucky lady indeed.
Yes, yes, yes!!! Aurelia finds her voice and her place with three fallen angels, who she longed for before the fall. Bastian, Daemon, and Hannibal, who have searched for her and pined for her as well, show her what she can have as part of their heart bond. Daemon is my favorite (dark and broody) and Bastian next with his teasing and murderous urges. Hannibal who won’t be forgotten either; though he is a cinnamon roll, he’s no less willing to shed blood for Aurelia.
