I love everything about this cookbook! I've tried many of her recipes before from her ABK website and each one was 5 stars and now I have each one and more in this easy to follow, beautiful book. It was so much fun over the holidays to pick this up and read through recipes. Each one has a beautiful picture and includes tips/notes. Even though I've been cooking for years (decades) there are notes in here that make me think "oh, that's how you do it!" A wonderful gift!!

If you follow me here on Goodreads, you know I read my new cookbooks from cover to cover. This was an especially fun one for me to read since I know Si! She lives near me & I have taken classes from her. I loved reading about her background, how she came to love cooking, and the stories behind her favorite recipes. I chuckled when she said (regarding each new cookbook she received), “I read them like they were novels.” I can relate! I’ve been making several of Si’s recipes for years (my favorite pie crust & chocolate chip cookie recipes), and now there are several more I want to try from this cookbook! It’s an excellent collection of breakfast, soup, salad, bread, dinner, and dessert recipes that will quickly become your favorites, as they have become ours.

One of my favorite cookbooks! Such good recipes! I have tried out a ton and everything's been a success! My favorite is definitely her Thanksgiving section with her apple cranberry pie and sausage stuffing. But her biscuits and soup and so much more are all amazing! I especially love the notes that she adds to almost every single recipe.

A beautiful cookbook, filled with tantalizing recipes and gorgeous pictures with each one. I especially love the little handwritten notes and tips throughout the book, as well as the wonderful stories that go with each dish. I can't wait to start cooking from it!

It’s not often when every single recipe I make out of one cookbook is a winner.

Just made my first recipe out of this book, and I am already frustrated: banana bread. Nice and easy, right? Well, a good cook/baker does not necessarily make a good recipe writer.

First, there are no notes on adding nuts to the bread, even though the photograph shows one loaf with walnuts on the top of it. What's the method here? No notes for add-ins? Just throw them on the top if you want them, I guess? Should they be raw or pre-toasted if I fold them into the batter instead of covering the top with them? I'll have to look elsewhere for that information.

Second, she uses vague terms for equipment. I can either bake a batch of this bread using "one large loaf pan or two medium loaf pans." I have a variety of sizes on hand. Which sizes does she mean? How big are her large and medium pans? There is an equipment section at the front of the book. I'll check there. Nope. It just says you should have loaf pans for a well-equipped kitchen. Maybe in the next section of notes. Nope, nothing there, either. Maybe there is a standard "large" and "medium" that I've never learned. Google and AI are no help there either, just describing a variety of larger and not-as-large sizes. Maybe someone else has had this same issue in the comments of her blog. I check there. The recipe is easily found, and there is an inconsistency. Same recipe, different baking temperature. Okayyyyy. Luckily, one commenter who has made it specifies EXACTLY what size she uses with good results (two 8x4s, if you are wondering). Am I the only one with this issue? No. Another commenter said, "I didn’t realize that my loaf pans are medium, not large, so my first batch overflowed." She does say that the batter should fill the pans 3/4 of the way, so at least there is that guidance, but you may find that you prepare too many or not enough pans before filling. Hopefully, she will be more specific in other recipes, but this one experience has made me less likely to reach for A Bountiful Kitchen in the future.

My top favorite cookbook. Every recipe turns out the way it’s supposed to and tastes delicious. I’m the off chance we have leftovers, I get so excited to still eat them the next day. The Swig cookie recipe is my favorite, along with the queso!

Spent the entire year cooking through every single recipe of this book with my cookbook club for 2024. So many family friendly absolutely delicious recipes. Would hands down buy this book again and recommend to have it in your cupboard!
