Miniature donkeys and learning about Christ have a profound impact on Pepper. But God has a mighty work to bring her hurting soul and Foxx' s new perspective into alignment. Can hope override hurting souls and enable a happily-ever-after?
Peery crafts a unique story for Christmas. No one shows the Gospel, and the meaning of Christmas as clearly as this author.
Pepper buys a small home near a corral of friendly donkeys. She meets their handsome caretaker, Foxx, and begins to open up to her new friend about her past. Loree creates a sad backstory for Pepper that will need all of Foxx's strength and faith to overcome.
While Foxx is sharing his faith with Pepper, news is discovered about his mother. His mom suffered from mental illness and after his parent's deaths, a secret is discovered.
Can Foxx and Pepper grab hold of God's strength and forgiveness and begin anew?
Thanksgiving looks a lot like Christmas in this fresh romance from Ms. Peery.
A Beautiful Story of Overcoming When Pepper Rainwater purchases her first home, she surrounds herself with Christmas decor all year round. Her childhood was less than ideal, filled with secrets and with no permanent home (I won’t reveal where she lived.) and never celebrating Christmas. She’s a strong woman who has risen above. When Pepper meets her handsome neighbor, Foxx Haven, she is drawn to him by his warmth and openness. But then Foxx’s world is shattered when he discovers a tragic family secret. I absolutely loved this quote from the book: “I’ve concluded that we choose what to do with tragedy, trauma, and trials. We can let the awfulness control us. Or we empower the experience to make us stronger.” Christmas House is a beautiful story of overcoming, of second chances, and of redeeming the past. I highly recommend this story.
What a lovely story. I've always wanted an Christmas house all year round, so am really envious of Pepper's. Both Pepper and Foxx (wonderful names btw) have more in common than a love of donkeys. This is a page turner and keeps you reading and wanting more.
“Christmas House” is a beautiful holiday book that perfectly captures the warm and joyous message of the season – that is: hope, faith, and redemption. Despite the difficulties in their past, the main characters are able to fall in love with each other and let the power of that love shape their future. Pepper has risen above the difficulties of her childhood, using all her strength. And Foxx is confronted with a revelation concerning his mother’s mental illness, which had been kept secret for a long time. Through facing the pain of the past, each character is able to overcome that pain and then, with the strength of God, they move forward together. The author creates a lovely setting, even including a corral of friendly donkeys. This is truly a redemptive romance that uplift and inspires.
Growing up and not knowing Christmas is the backstory of Pepper which has her wanting Christmas all year when she gets a home of her own. And what a beautiful Christmas theme she creates. A page turner read, Pepper, with a taunting past, meets Foxx and they become friends. But with his past, can the two learn to trust in the faith that has always been instilled into their hearts and create a future that will bring them peace and joy?
Like all of Ms Peery’s stories, this one captures your heart and shows us Gods unconditional love He has for all of us. No matter our past, no matter our hurts.
Christmas House by LoRee Peery is a surprise, as it doesn’t take place at Christmas! Pepper never had Christmas as a child, so when she finally has a home of her own, she decorates the whole house for Christmas. She meets Foxx, and through going to church with him, soon finds there is far more to Christmas than decorations. Both Foxx and Pepper have surprisingly dark pasts. We root for them to find peace and forgiveness so they can move forward in their lives, and hopefully spend Christmas together!
Christmas House is a contemporary romance novella about two people with very difficult backgrounds. Foxx and Pepper fall in love as they learn to deal with their disturbing pasts. It is a moving story of redemption, forgiveness, and of course, true love at Christmastime. The situation was unique. I liked the characters and found I couldn't put it down. The end was satisfying.
Christmas House is a sweet story that brought a smile to my heart. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. It reminded me that no matter what we’re faced with, how dark circumstances can turn in our lives, God is there. If you love stories of Christmas, hope, and second chances, I highly recommend this book. And the two donkeys are flat-out adorable.
If you can read only ONE Christmas book this season, make it this one! Stunningly beautiful. LoRee Perry has taken two people with heartbreaking pasts and crafted it into a triumph. Most importantly, the Gospel is front and center. The Scriptures are laid out in Chapter 4 in such a clear way that you could lead someone to Christ! I plan to take this one out and read it every Christmas.
Pepper celebrates her first home with Christmas decorations. She doesn't know the reason for the holiday until Foxx takes her to church. Her new faith is tested with family drama.
The strength of this story is the spiritual thread - the clear gospel message of salvation and Pepper's growth through Bible reading.
What an enchanting (and unexpected) story! Pepper and Foxx both have troubled pasts, but together with the Lord they work towards tying up all those loose ends. And Pepper is really just so admirable and lovable. You can't NOT root for her!
Pepper was told as a child to trust no one. While she overcame her unusually sad childhood, she finds it difficult to warm up to people. Then she meets Foxx, who is caring for her new neighbor's donkeys. He is cheerful and open. He learns she was never able to celebrate Christmas as a child, which is why she is filling her home with everything Christmas. Still, she doesn't know the meaning behind the holiday. Foxx takes her to his church and helps guide her to faith. He believes she is the strongest woman he's ever known. Then he discovers the truth about the woman he believed was his mother. His life is upended by that knowledge, but Pepper is there for him.
I enjoyed this gentle, sweet story and its message. The Lord can heal those with broken pasts.
