For Xavier Goodwin, life had been a constant rotation of set backs. At a young age he had to learn some tough lessons, but through it all he never let any obstacle thrown his way stop him. Knowing that his mother and brother depended on him to make things happen Xavier became the blueprint for by any means necessary. All work and no play can be taxing, which was why Xavier eventually let his guard down and allowed someone to get close. Now all he can do is pray she doesn’t make him regret allowing her into his world.

1. The errors were in abundance. 2. The writing was not up to par. 3. Not a single character description was given. Other than Xavier havin’ locs, I don’t know what these characters looked like. And, FYI, there were no character descriptions given in book one either. 4. Mercedes is 5 years older than Xavier but, this is never mentioned until more than 50% of the book. 5 years doesn’t constitute an age gap but, it still should’ve been mentioned sooner than the 50% mark. And, they never had a conversation about their age difference. 5. Xavier’s mama was trash and needed some sense knocked into her. 6. I didn’t really feel the chemistry or the connection between Mercedes and Xavier.
I didn’t like Falling For You as much as liked book one. The dynamics alone should’ve made for a great book. Mercedes being the widower to Javario’s brother and Xavier being a surrogate brother to Javario should’ve given us some top tier messiness. But, unfortunately, this book just fell flat for me.
I liked the unexpected love connection in this story. Xavier is all about his family- providing for his little brother and his AAU team. He explicitly says that he doesn’t have time for a relationship but he fell hard for Mercedes. Mercedes is a grieving widow and mother. Her story really pulled on my heart strings because she was clearly conflicted about falling for Xavier and how that would impact her in-laws.. this book was heavy at times, especially with Xavier’s mother- my goodness, she wore me out!!! I really enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the genuine friendships that Xavier and Mercedes formed.
Book two was kind of like deja vu book one. The writing felt like the same storyline with name changes. A nice sequel attempt that I wish had additional character development with a more in-depth storyline. See what you think.
Xavier was good to his mother. They way she put Greg before him and Xion and he still paid her bills, anybody else would have left her to figure things out on her own. Mercedes realized sometimes you are lucky to have found love again.
Let me start by saying I was side-eyeing Row for a minute about how he handled the situation with X but he got out his feelings towards the end. So we cool again. NOW!!!! Let’s get to talking about this man, Mr. BDE Xavier ( Xay 🥰) I love him!! I can’t say it enough. He didn’t have a horrible life, his mama was there, she just wasn’t s$)* , I know she said she loved her kids but she didn’t love them enough to put them first and that’s where the ain’t s$)* part comes into play. He had no clue about love baby just wanted to smash and dash… until he finally ‘saw’ Mrs. Mercedes Now Mercedes kind of made me mad at times but I got it, sis was grieving and there’s no book on how to grieve BBBUUUTTT don’t take it out on Xay!!! She smashed and then went to visit her dead husband… Ms. Mamas whatcha doing?!? I’m sure if a grievance book was to be written THAT wouldn’t be in it! But after Xay “showed her” how cold he could be (even if it was an act) she got it together. I could say a lot more (and I will.) but for now I’ll end this by saying T’LYN GIRL TOU NEVER DISAPPOINT!!!
Great spin off to Dance for you!!!! I loved the characters and their back stories of dealing with the pain of losing a loved one and the pain of not being loved by your parents. Mercedes was closed off and trapped in her grief but she busted it open for a real one on the first date😂😂🔥🔥💦💦!!! Xavier was a good man. He took care of his brother and his mom. Seeing him boss up for his brother was everything!!! Great job, definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!
My immediate thought to get out there is Xay and Xi’s mama was TRASH!!! Seriously what the heck was wrong with that woman. No redeeming qualities at all!
This was super short and quick though. Not exactly insta love because the MCs kind of knew each other, just weren’t close. I loved Xavier’s soft side in general. Coaching AAU, the rec center in general, his love for Xion and Truly. Much respect for him to stepping to Row about Mercedes too. He was grown and standing in everything he did or said. I can’t imagine why anybody would ever find a reason to dislike this man! I felt so bad for Mercedes. I can’t imagine what it’s like to experience that type of loss but I KNOW I would be a wreck! I’m glad she had good people around her, especially True’s family. Not everybody would be okay with how she chose to move on but she needed that!
I’m deeply disappointed. I wanted better for this couple. When I discovered that they were up next, I was pretty excited. Because in book 1- they didn’t have obvious chemistry, but the proximity I felt made for an interesting story. Mercedes being the widower and Xavier being sort of a surrogate brother to Row.
Somehow even with all the right ingredients, the story fell flat. The story went too fast and truly lacked development of their connection. One trip to Hobby Lobby didn’t make all of this.
The Aubrielle storyline was wack and completely unnecessary. Along with Liam.
I wanted so much more and this didn’t reach the threshold. Saving grace was a quick read. 🤷🏾♀️
Xavier did not come to play. He was about his family and his money until he finally saw what was in front of him, Mercedes. I understood Mercedes being hesitant to start something with him, especially with losing her husband they way she did. As always, her girlfriends stepped in and helped her see she needed to let go and move on. I loved how the families all blended together and took care of one another. Aubrielle just wouldn't stop coming around, and she ended up getting what she didn't want. Now Xavier's mom was a sad excuse for a mother cause how you choose a man over your kids? Xavier and Mercedes deserved a HEA and I'm glad they got it.
T’lyn did it again. In the 2nd installment of this series, the focus is on Xavier & Mercedes. Mercedes is the late wife of Row’s brother True who was talked about in book 1, Dance for you. I love that all of the characters from book 1 were continued in this one. I love the family aspect in her books, including the active roles that the children play. I’m absolutely a fan of this author and I recommend everything that I have read from her so far. I would love to read about Jinx in an upcoming coming book
Xavier took care of Xion like his own son. Xavier's mama loves Xion but not like Greg. Xavier noticed Mercedes as a friend only then he really noticed her as the a woman he can talk too. Mercedes wanted to keep their relationship on low away from her in-laws and he was younger than her. Xavier told Row about his relationship with Mercedes and I think Row felt some kinda way. He can thank Au
Great story. Xay and Mercedes were meant to be. She was sweet and innocent while Xay was loyal and a thug. However, Xay had a higher purpose. He loved his brother and his people. And even though he was into Mercedes, he was respectful of True. All in all, Xay was a good dude. Despite his upbringing and relationship with his mom, he still was a very loving and caring person.
This story is so relatable. You're so focused on the life you're living until tragedy hits and you have to adjust to a new life.
Once was around you, you see in new light. The blinders are replaced causing you to refresh the vision of the new life ahead. Beautiful story quite similar to my life.
Another great book. I most definitely enjoyed it. I really loved the way Xavier loved on Mercedes though. I was so happy when they got together though. I loved all of them though. I can’t wait to see what you have coming next
I loved it. Mercedes kind of got on my nerves, but I understood her pain. X-ray was the man and he really loved his brother, Truly and Mercedes. That dang Row is still a fool! It was good to catch up with him and Dionne. Will we be getting a book on Jinx?
No really a sweet read with love from greif and mommy abandonment that blooms into love. I was so hoping that book 1 X got with Mercedes and a was so enjoying the catch up from the characters in book 1 ... I hope we get Jinx story too.
I was so wondering who she was going to pair him with! I was so hoping it was going to be her! I was so happy I was right! They were so freaking perfect for each other! Outstanding
This was really beautiful. Xay and Mercedes didn’t know that they needed each other and that it was okay to be loved and in love!! It’s sad that Xay and Xi momma was blinded by selfishness and stupidity smh. But this was a great follow up 💜
I think I just earned another book husband lol I love xay I'm happy with how everything played out I can't wait to read more from you good job I can't say much without giving the book away but it was a bomb series
This was nice and sweet. Xavier was an amazing big brother. Sad to say but I've seen a few women choose men over their children. Glad him and Mercedes worked it out and she was able to let go of True.
Why did Mercedes called that gal Annabelle ( Aubrielle). I laughed so hard. Baby Truly and Xion was to cute. Her friends Dionne was crazy and Protect of her. Row and Dionne are maded for each other Xavier mom was something else
My gosh the errors in this and book one are crazy. I won't rate either, but this was an ok story line idk if I really felt a connection between them. I did like Xavier and how he took care of his brother.
X was a good dude. Row still cray cray. But Di is just as loony. I understood Mercedes’ reservations in the beginning. Luckily, X was a patient man. I hope to see Jinx’ story. I really like her. X’s mom was garbage.
I was glad Mercedes got her second chance at love. Xay was the perfect fit for her even though he was a little younger. He was mature for his age and really was on his boss stuff. Glad Mercedes was able to get out of her own way and realize he was the man for her.
Xavier and Mercedes was definitely a cute couple and I was so glad that Ro and his family was there in support of their relationship!!!… Great read and a great show of friendship, even when you don’t know you need it!!!…
This was a beautiful love story, plenty of drama, sex, comedy and loyalty. What do you do when memories keep you from opening up to love? I was actually in my feelings that something was gonna go wrong. Beautiful storyline.
I really enjoyed their story and how Mercedes kept it real about grieving husband but Xavier really came through! He really saw her for who he was and h When he told her What to do!!!! Yess sir!! I really enjoyed this story
