Demon Prince Hades: A Fantasy Romance Adventure

Rate this book
Grown up Percy Jackson meets extra spicy Lore Olympus in the second installment of the sizzling Gods & Monsters series where your favorite mythological hotties come out of the shadows – and into the bedroom…

When my advisor arranges for me to join an expedition to Mount Olympus, I know it’s exactly the thing I need to take my thesis in Greek Mythology from good to great. My overbearing mother, however, refuses to let me leave the city, much less the country.

What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.

Once I land in Greece, it’s like coming home. I get utterly swept away in the history, the mountain, and all the stories I’ve devoted my life to studying.

But then I get literally swept away by what should be a mythical river, and wake up to find myself in the Underworld, wholly at the mercy of the reigning Hades, a descendant of the god of the dead himself.

Hades is every bit as brooding, mysterious, and dark as his ancestry promises–and absolutely furious that a mortal has found her way into his domain. But there is more at work in the Underworld than merely caretaking the dead, and my presence here not only awakens secrets about my past . . . I seem to awaken Hades, too.

The Greek gods are very much real, and as Hades and I struggle to combat the rift that my arrival has created between mortals and their one-time oppressors, I come to realize that I’m in even greater danger of that rift separating me from him.

I have fallen in love with the reigning King of the Underworld.

What kind of person would choose to stay in hell?

I just… Don't understand. I don't understand how I feel this way about this book when it is so drastically different to how I felt about the first one. Frost Giant Loki is one of my favorite books that I have ever read, I even put it in a YouTube video about my favorite books because I loved it so much. I remember reading that book and literally giggling and kicking my feet like a schoolgirl with a crush. I was completely obsessed with it but this book? This book had me confused from beginning to end and I really feel like I have no idea what to make of it.

Unlike with the first book, Demon Prince Hades feels so wrong? I know that Frost Giant Loki had Insta love and Insta lust but for some reason it felt more fun and exciting in the first book while in this one it felt random and out of place. Hades and Josie literally know each other all of 10 minutes before he suddenly claims ownership over her and they become involved intimately. It just feels too quick and out of nowhere. It gives no time to get invested in the couple.

I also feel like every time a question would be answered in the book that ten other questions would pop into my mind. I was in a constant state of having no idea why no one was bringing up things that should be brought up. Why did Josie supposedly have the ability to do magic her entire life but never once did she do magic before now? Can she only do magic when she is close to Mount Olympus or The Underworld? The first time she ever did magic was in the water on Mount Olympus and then she continued to do magic in The Underworld. Can she only do magic when she's in the homeland of the gods? And if presence near the gods is the explanation then why wouldn't she have been doing magic her entire life by accident because of her close proximity to her mother who is a literal goddess? And if her mother is Demeter then why are we not asking questions about Persephone and thus the original Hades?

I'm also extremely confused why the Hades in this book is even called Hades. The demigod descendants of all of the other gods have their own names but all of the descendants of Hades are just also called Hades? Why don't they have their own names? Why are all of the other descendants of the gods not referred to by the title of the gods but Hades is? It doesn't make any sense and I just feel so insanely confused.

Also, I feel like it's weird that she is so willing to participate in an orgy like 24 hours after ending up in The Underworld? It was already weird that she was willing to let Hades go down on her 10 minutes after knowing him but this feels even more weird because she's just putting her body and her intimate interaction on display for a bunch of strangers. And then, in the middle of it, she starts using her magic to make her own vines touch her?! Listen I've read some weird shit in my time, I have read some weird smut, but what in the Poison Ivy is going on here?

I feel like something else that is bothering me is the fact that we don't get an answer as to where Persephone is by the end of the book. Where is she? Where the hell is Persephone? Did she ever exist? Did she die? Did she have memory loss like the other gods? Did she escape to Earth with her mother and then something happened to her there?

Eventually, the original Hades is brought up and you find out that he's just unconscious because Zeus knocked him the fuck out before he attempted his proper escape. But what I don't understand is why he's even with the other gods to begin with. If the idea of putting the gods in this other place Was his idea then why is he over there? Shouldn't he be in charge of it? Why has he been leaving his descendants in charge of all of this? I just don't understand what the hell is going on. And even when he comes into it and even has lines and interactions with the new Hades, there is still absolutely no mention of Persephone! Where is she? What happened to her? When Demeter mentions having had other daughters is she referring to Persephone or is she referring to other daughters she had over the centuries that were other demigods just like Josie?

And don't even get me started on the fact that Hades admits to being in love in his own mind. He literally refers to Josie is the woman that he's come to love. What do you mean? At this point he's known her for three days and she was unconscious for one of those days! How can he love her? He knows literally nothing about her. I don't understand. And it's also very clear at the end of the book that the authors meant for there to be more books in the series but they don't seem to have published anything in over a year and have also abandoned their social media (including their own website). I have no idea what happened to the authors or why they stopped with their books but I'm just so deeply confused by everything. I did not like this book at all and I find that so sad Considering how much I loved Frost Giant Loki. This book was just such a monumental disappointment and I did not see it coming.

Heat level: 3/5. I went in order and I loved the Loki one before this so much! This is the second book I've read by these authors. I LOVE Hades/Persephone retellings and this one was no exception. I want more of their story! What happens after this ending? I want to know so badly because of the shifts brought at the end. I feel like Loki had more chemistry with his FMC than Hades did with Josie but I could be biased simply because it's Loki. I think it's because there were more interactions between the other 2 over the scenes that moved the plot forward. I feel like this book has more of the story scenes happening than intimate scenes between this couple. I still loved this book, the storyline was engrossing. I'm definitely reading the next one! Sounds like we're switching over to Egyptian mythology and I'm all the excite!

This was a fantastic Hades and Persephone tale, even though it wasn't my personal favourite. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; I just simply wish it could have been a little longer. I was hoping that the story could possibly have had just a little more substance or meat to it. I wasn't as captivated with the characters or the story as I was with the first book, Frost Giant Loki. This was definitely a hot and steamy, insta-lust tale, and the passionate relationship between Hades and Josie was adorable as well!

“Go to her, you idiot,” Agapi hisses. “I don’t think he’s breathing, love,” Orfeas whispers, a bit loudly. “Is this what a smitten Hades looks like?” “Embarrassing, I daresay.” “Look, his cheeks are pink—” “Shut up, you both,” I snap.

Amazing read!

I enjoyed every second of this novel. The authors clearly mastered Greek mythology; the knowledge they display throughout the book is refreshing. And it is impossible not to love the protagonists. They are a great match. Every scene is beautifully, expertly crafted.

This seemed to have a bit more of a plot than Loki’s story, which I liked. Was so relieved with the ending had to remind myself multiple times they’re for sure gonna end up together it’s a romance story

Loved it!

A short and quick read with spice and a good storyline! I can't wait for more books in this series. I absolutely love them. I wish they were longer.

This was a good quick read, I liked their take on the gods. Frost giant Loki I think is my favourite of the 2 but I still enjoyed reading this. I am excited to see what’s to come in the next book!
