Two pasts, one future, and a love that’s not promised…
When Nate’s wife walks out, taking his young son with her, he must face the damage his drinking has done to his life. While his ex-wife might not be acting reasonably, she’s not wrong on many points. Changing a lifetime of bad habits won’t be easy, though.
He’ll need support and unconditional love, neither of which is an option.
Sophia’s mother has stopped her from having a life. Caring for a drunk always has cost her relationships, opportunities, and even her father. When her mother injures herself, Sophia must make a hard choice. One almost as hard as the blast from the past comes in the form of Nate, the man she had a crush on when he was just a boy.
Nate needs help, but can Sophia dig deep and be the woman he needs while facing her troubled past?
Does love stand a chance in the face of addiction, pain, and history?
Storyline stays strong in this tough topic of alcoholism. Sophie really has her hands full with her mom and now that she's met Nate again, in a most compromising position, too! Nate can't get much lower in life with his losing custody and normal visits with his son and his divorce. Sophie is a beacon of light for him. Can Sophie help Nate as well? Wow, beautifully written on a heart wrenching topic.
Received an early copy for my honest and voluntary review.
Nate 's lawyer Joshua advices Nate to have a quick divorce from Rochelle. This irritates him and he refuses. He also denies to himself and others that he has a drinking problem. He was asked to go to Farley Grove where Sophia's mum was as the judge insist upon this condition. He had to join a support group too as he had a bad accident. A Great Read. I am on the ARC term and I leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
I feel like a fly on the wall while reading this series. I'm enjoying getting to know the characters. Book three focuses on Nick's "rock-bottom" experience. Sometimes you have to loose everything to accept that you need help. Nick goes one step further and lands in the hospital. Meanwhile, Grace still wants nothing to do with Sophia. In a twist of fate Sophia and Nate's paths cross after not seeing each other since high school.
Having been married to an alcoholic for ten years and now watching its claws digging into my daughter's life this series just continues to hit home with a realism and a hope that I can’t get enough of. I highly recommend it because whether we realize it or not, alcohol touches all of our lives. You can never know when or where; from a relative, friend or those with whom you have daily interactions. These books will help open your eyes and your heart.
Both Nate and Sophia are going through rough times - then they reconnect after 30 years! The story is growing and I am very anxious to hear what is next. I received an advance reader copy for my honest review!
