Bewicched: The Sea Wicche Chronicles:

We here at The Sea Wicche cater to your art-collecting, muffin-eating, tea-drinking, and potion-peddling needs. Palmistry and Tarot sessions are available upon request and by appointment. Our store hours vary and rely completely on Arwyn—the owner—getting her butt out of bed.

I’m Arwyn Cassandra Corey, the sea wicche, or the wicche who lives by the sea. It requires a lot more work than I’d anticipated to remodel an abandoned cannery and turn it into an art gallery & tea bar. It’s coming along, though, especially with the help of a new werewolf who’s joined the construction crew. He does beautiful work. His sexy, growly, bearded presence is very hard to ignore, but I’m trying. I’m not sure how such a laid-back guy got the local Alpha and his pack threatening to hunt him down and tear him apart, but we all have our secrets. And because I don’t want to know his—or yours for that matter—I wear these gloves. Clairvoyance makes the simplest things the absolute worst. Trust me. Or don’t. Totally up to you.

Did I mention my mother and grandmother are pressuring me to assume my rightful place on the Corey Council? That’s a kind of governing triad for our ancient magical family, one that has more than its fair share of black magic practitioners. And yes, before you ask, people have killed to be on the council—one psychotic sorceress aunt comes to mind—but I have no interest in the power or politics that come with the position. I’d rather stick to my art and, in the words of my favorite sea wicche, help poor unfortunate souls. (Good luck trying to get that song out of your head now.)

If you listened to the Sam Quinn series, you may remember Arywn and a chess set. While characters make an appearance, it isn’t necessary to have read the previous series.

Arwyn Cassandra Corey has purchased a building with a deck on the sea. She lives there and is transforming the front into a gallery for her art. Arwyn also plans to sell tea and sweets. She loves to create from taking photos to baking little bite size pies that will melt in your mouth.

She is having the deck replaced and has made friends with an octopus, seal and some sea urchins. Declan, a lone alpha wolf, is working on said deck and befriends her. Arwyn is a Cassandra and can see the present and future. She can also learn and feel things through touch. Which is why she always wears gloves. However, when she touched Declan, she gets nothing. A rarity for her.

The local police department needs her help with a missing child. Meanwhile, her mother and grandmother demand that she join the Corey Council, who protects and governs the supernatural.

With a serial killer on the loose and a psychotic sorceress, Arwyn has her hands full. This first in the series was strong, and already I like the key characters. We’ve got a budding romance, some wolf trouble and a sea king to deal with it. Not to mention family issues.

I loved the sea creatures, the food talk and the slow-building romance. The story has a cozy urban fantasy vibe, much like the Sam Quinn series. Speaking of Sam, we get to see her and her sexy husband, with hints that we will see them again.

Fans of paranormal romance, suspense, cozy mysteries and urban fantasy will find something to like in Bewicched. Samantha Desz narrates. She does a fantastic job of capturing Arwyn’s spunky personality and Declan’s seriousness. I highly recommend listening. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

3.5/5.0

I liked this book and enjoyed a wonderful escape reading it. And I do think it has the potential to be a great series, so I will definitely be continuing.

Breaking it down: Arywn is a fun character with loads of things for the reader to discover as time goes on. She is struggling to manage her clarvoiyance while being strongly pressured to take her place on the Wicche’s high council and use her gift to help others. No one cares that it takes a horrible toll on her every single time, however. Declan is a rogue werewolf who is also super interesting, as he is a strong alpha who doesn’t want to be an alpha. Unfortunately circumstances force him into a situation where basically he must decide or die. See? Fun stuff!

Arwyn and Declan’s insta-love thing was super confusing, though. We have absolutely NO idea why Declan is instantly and always devotedly there and supporting Arwyn - he literally and immediately stops everything and stays with her the minute they meet. Now, of course, we may surmise that he recognizes her as his mate but that isn’t even mentioned in this book. Yet all those insta-feels happen almost page one. Love the two of them together but this story REALLY needed a bit more time and understanding as to how that happens. Given that HUGE plot hole, along with others that are just as surface, lowered the rating for me. It is much better than a three star but it really doesn’t live up to my expectations of a four.

As a side - I LOVED that Sam and Clive (from the Sam Quinn series) were included in the storyline! It was awesome to see them again!

★★★★☆

✧ it is out now!! happy release day :) ✧

**I was provided with an ARC from NYLA for an honest review**

✿  My review is also posted right here on my blog  ✿

☞ Trigger warnings: **contains spoilers**

Let me say straight off the bat - this is not as good as the Sam Quinn series. Sam Quinn is that girl and Sam Quinn is that series!! It would take a miracle to meet up to those expectations. That doesn't mean this is in any way a bad book. It's just not up to par with perfection, but who among us is?

Bewicched follows Arwyn, a clairvoyant Corey sea fae wicche, the daughter of a wicche mother and a sea fae father. Using her clairvoyant abilities she gets caught up in hunting two killers while also renovating her new gallery by the sea. Also there is also a nomad werewolf who hates psychics and is building her a deck. Angsty stuff.
description

There are two plots within this book - a threat within the Corey family involving a demon, and a kidnapping of a young boy. Both have nothing to do with each other. Both focus on what makes someone 'evil.' Following the threads of both plots was a little draining. The crimes are dark and the emotional toll of reading these types of crimes is hard. I was unaware of the child kidnapping plot and I think that should have been in the synopsis, to let readers be aware (especially as it can be triggering for some people).

Arwyn is in a bit of a pickle. Her grandmother and mother are pressuring her into a commitment that she wants no part in. A Council seat is of power and privilege, but also a dangerous and draining position.
"Arwyn, you know we love you." Mom stood tall, but her right hand trembled.
"Sure." I swallowed. "But you love what I can do more."
Arwyn's clairvoyance is the strongest in her family line. Her power comes at the cost of visions filled with horror and pain. The Corey wicche's before Arwyn who were blessed with clairvoyance, lived short miserable lives, usually ended by their own hands. Arwyn doesn't wish that fate to come before her, and joining the Council will not only invite these visions, but fast-track her to a shortened life expectancy. To experience the visions, there is no separation as the wicche lives the vision, they feel the blows of fists, or the water drowning their lungs, and they feel the torture of a serial killer victim. They experience it, revisit it in dreams and have to live with the all the horrors of that encapsulates the worst of humanity. Denying the seat means ensuring a few more years of sanity, years of less pain, and years alive.
"My pain isn't important, only how I make myself useful to others, isn't that it?"

Plot A: The call is coming from inside the house
description

There is evil lurking within the family and it's up to Arwyn to weed out the killer. One of the wicches in the family is working hand-in-hand with a demon. They want power, and they want the final seat at the Corey Council. The lives of her family are at stake. This plot allows the insertion of other characters in the Sam Quinn Universe™.

I wish the main focus of the book was simply Plot A with Arwyns struggling with being clairvoyant and joining the Corey Council. This alone was interesting, reading about her visions, trying to decipher their meanings. Arwyn cannot touch anyone without a transfer of power, allowing her to see their current thoughts and their past. Helping others with a power she perceives as a 'curse' is interesting enough without the insertion of Plot B. Frankly, Plot B muddles Plot A. Splitting focus makes both plots harder to follow.
"I had to choose between my own happiness and everyone's safety. Why did the universe hate me so much?"

Plot B: Only thing worse than a killer. Boom! A child. No, A child killer.

(yes I made this meme myself. Do I have too much time on my hands? idk that's between me, Jesus and my therapist.)

A kidnapping of a young child brings the police to Arwyn's door. Despite being sceptical of her powers, this is the last shot at finding the child. This is a tough plot to read about. Please be warned if you pick this up.There is a lot of violent details and depressing moments. Reading about the missing children and what they go through is gut-wrenching. You are uncomfortable the entire time and going back to Plot A feels jarring.
description

Personally, Plot B it feels a little unnecessary. It is a harrowing read, making you question if someone could be born 'evil'. Is it nature? Nuture? The unlucky few in the genetic lottery? idk the answer other than it makes me sad.

The elephant werewolf in the room.
Arwyn's relationship quickly develops with the werewolf carpenter Declan. They are soon inseparable, spending almost all day and night together. It got hot and heavy very fast, (personally, I think too fast) and were soon dry humping each other.

Declan is a lone wolf, and wants to keep it that way. Unfortunately for him, others flock to him, as he is a powerful Alpha with experience and knowledge he can bestow on others. He can make a pack stronger, and safer. I am interested to read more about him being forced to be the new Alpha and how the new relationship with Arwyn will be impacted by this. His Quinn heritage will also be an interesting facet to explore, especially as Sam Quinn is meant to be the werewolf Queen (whatever that means).

I think what weirded me out was the family relationship between Sam Quinn, Arwyn and Declan. Let's think this through. Sam Quinn is a Corey wicche. That means Arwyn is her aunt's daughter, making them first cousins. Declan is stated to be Sam's uncle. So Sam's uncle is dating her first cousin. Weird. I don't like how close that is. Almost kissing cousins.

Would I recommend this book?
Yes - but I recommend reading the Sam Quinn series first (the first book is The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar)

Will I re-read this book/series?
Potentially, I would re-read this book but I would prefer to pick up the Sam Quinn series.

It's been a while since I have read a new urban fantasy and actually been absorbed by the story.

I loved Arwyn. The culprit is very obvious that towards the end it felt like the story was being prolonged as a means of advertising the Sam Quinn series (tried reading it and couldn't get past Chapter 1 if I remember correctly, so I was pleasantly surprised when I completed this book) and setting up possible cross overs.

I liked Declan well enough. His energy as love interest was great but their romance is slow burn/just smoulder. As book two should be more of him and the pack, I'm looking forward to the show down. I do appreciate the fact that when Arwyn was ready to run scared, he told her to chill and they talked through it, so points for him.

My favourite characters have to be Cecil, Charlie, Herbert and Wilbur. I enjoyed the antics/love and I am looking forward to reading more about her sea wicche/fae/siren side.

I loved the handling of the cases/her powers. I would like to see more of her having her shop and being a medium/helping people at her shop as opposed to her just being a police consultant, but the consultant angle seems to be the one carrying book two.

While I understand the cliff hanger, I hope the sorcerer issue is solved by the end of book two. Let it not be a series but in actuality we are just running around looking for the same culprit from book one till the final book.

So, enjoyed this. Wouldn't mind seeing it as a TV series but looking forward to different antagonists and a more developed romance with Declan.

While this one says it's #1 book, it's a spin off of the Sam Quinn series, make sure to read those first.

We first met Arwyn in the last Sam Quinn book, but with this one she is front and center. Arwyn is so much fun, just wants to be left alone, make her art, get her gallery up and running and play with her sea friends. Sadly she had trouble with all of that.

Arwyn is a Casandra, meaning she can see the future at times, she also can "see" things when she touches things or people. You can only imagine what her life is like, rough. The book starts out with her seeing things and takes her to helping the police go after a truly evil person who is killing kids. Arwyn helps them find the dead children and the bad guy, a great thing, but it wasn't easy. Through out this she ends up building a relationship with 2 detectives, who I have a feeling we'll be seeing again.

Getting the gallery up and running means a lot of construction, which brings Declan into her world, Declan who is a werewolf. Things aren't always easy between werewolves and witches, but these 2 have an interesting relationship that builds over the coarse of the book, going from skeptical to great! I love how Declan was there to help her so many times, to prevent her from harming herself as her magic works on herself. It will be interesting to see where they go with things.

I loved the sea creatures that were Arwyn's friends at the gallery and how she talked to them each day. I especially loved the seal, more so when he brought a very special message to Arwyn.

There was so much drama with Arwyn's family and most of it not good. I'm glad that Arwyn was able to put somethings away, but hated how devastated the family was by loss towards the end.

This first book really set up things well, you get to see Arwyn building her space up and settling into her world, got to see her family, her place in it and how things weren't always what it seemed there. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series!

Bewicched delves into the life of Arwyn Cassandra Corey, the strongest (yet only half) of the Corey wicches and an amazing artist (the creator of Sam's - of Seana's Sam Quinn series - enchanted chess set). Her shop by the sea is being remodeled by, among others, a werewolf named Declan.

Arwyn has kept her distance from her family. She's plagued by debilitating clairvoyance - she doesn't just see things, she feels them, too. Her abilities help solve a string of crimes, she accepts a place in her family and learns more about her "other half". Declan, too, learns more about his family and, to his surprise, finds a reason to stick in one place longer than he ever has before. I can't wait to read more about these two. (Wicche Hunt comes out April 2024)

I loved learning about Arwyn, meeting Declan and the mini crossover with Sam, Clive and Dave. The scenes between Sam and Detective Osso were adorably hilarious. And, Arwyn's chats and games with her friends of the sea ... love! Seana's world is such fun!

This is a spin-off/same-world series of Seana's Sam Quinn. I wouldn't say there's a need to read that series first to enjoy this one, but I'd highly recommend it simply because you're sure to enjoy it.

I downloaded the ebook and purchased the audio add-on so I could switch between reading and listening. This is the first book I've read by this author. This is a spin-off from another series and I don't feel like I missed much by starting here.

I thought at first that the narration lacked emotion because of the narrator, but I came to realize it was actually the writing. There were several times when the scene should have had a huge emotional punch (), and yet the characters stood around making jokes or completely ignored their emotions to focus on mundane tasks (baking, creating art, etc). I'm not sure if this was deliberate or if the writing was just inconsistent, but it made for a frustrating reading experience.

Ultimately, while this had an interesting premise and some good bones, the execution left me feeling frustrated and annoyed. I don't believe I'll read the next book in the series.

Another excellent new series.from Seana Kelly set in the same world as Sam Quinn.

We actually meet Arwyn Cassandra Corey in the Sam Quinn series when Sam and Clive are in England.but in this (the first in a new series) Arwyn is back in America, Monterey, California to be precise, by coincidence only a car ride away from Sam and Clive in San Fransico. Arwyn has settled in to an old canning factory that she has purchased and had renovated, it is now The Sea Wicche Art Gallery and also Arwyn's home. The name is an affectation as Arwyn really is a Sea Wicche, half Wicche half sea fae and she possesses the ability of sight, she can see what has been nd also what is to come, she only has to brush something of someone with her bare skin to know everything a person has thought or done ............. Or what they my be going to do. It has made her life a living hell, never able to have basic human contact without experiencing unwanted visions nd her dreams are no better, visions of what is to come or nightmares of what she be already seen. It's no surprise that most seers kill themselves with nine ever living long lives. Declan is a werewolf, a Quinn wolf actually, if you have read Sam's series (and if you haven't you really should) then you know the Quinn's are like the uber wolf, stronger, faster, more dominant and faster at shifting, they can even achieve a partial shift. Sam thought she was the last of the Quinn's turns out she's not, Declan has lived his whole life as a lone wolf outside of pack life and he he no desire to change that. He usually styles in one place long enough to earn some money then moves on but on meeting Arwyn he decides to stick around for a while, he he never before felt so drawn to a woman he wants to see where it leads, but in making the decision to stay he will.he forced to face the local.pack nd it's alpha.......not something he really wants to do. Arwyn meanwhile has no time for romance ............. She reconciled herself to being single nd line long time ago thanks to her gift.......... If the were not enough of problem the.local.police have been in touch they need her.to.use her gift to help find a missing boy. Then there's her family, the Corey's her mum and gran are putting pressure on her.to join with them in a magical triad something Arwyn has fought against as she fears what may happen to her if she fully embraces her gifts. Then there's the rest of her family, to put it mildly she's never been accepted, especially by her cousins....if whom there are a lot and finally there's something evil in the air and it seems to have it's sights set on the Corey family.....................and it wants them dead. .................. Loved, loved, loved this book but then I love the Sam Quinn series and we do get to see some characters from the series in this book ,just for a quick visit, it's urgh fantasy t it's best. A world not unlike our own where magic and magical beings said it in secret. A great fun heroine with a terrific sense of humour and marvellous way of looking at life, then the expected mysterious alpha male with his own secrets and he has his own stories to tell. Can't wait for.book two have least pre ordered it

Bewicched is the first book in the new Sea Wicche contemporary fantasy series, which is a spin-off from the author’s Sam Quinn books about a book-loving werewolf and her assorted supernatural friends. This one centres on Arwyn Cassandra Corey, an artist based in Monterey, California, who is also a powerful witch (the author spells it as Wicche). Arwyn has been mentioned in the last few Sam books, and features more prominently in the Banshee & The Blade novella - events from which are referred to here, but I don’t think you need to have read the other series to enjoy this.

Arwyn is descended from a long line of Corey Wicches, but her unknown father was of the ocean fae, giving her a powerful connection to sea creatures, and strong psychic and psychometric powers, which prevent her from having any close relationships, because she can feel the thoughts of anyone she touches. Her mother and grandmother are keen for her to join the Corey council, but Arwyn just wants to focus on renovating an old cannery into a gallery for her art. Then the police ask for her help to locate a missing child, and Arwyn can’t say no, even if the process threatens her sanity. Luckily a hunky werewolf is on hand to help out…

This kind of fantasy seems to be my go-to when I’m tired of reading to schedule (ARCs or Book Club books). Having read all five Sam Quinn novels, plus the two novellas, with mixed results - I 5-starred the first one, mainly for the great cast of diverse supernatural characters, but then got bored with the plot repetition. The last one was a lot better, and being invested in the world that Kelly has created, I was curious to get to know Arwyn, whose main role in the other series is as the creator of Sam’s magic chess set. I loved that unlike Sam, who is constantly being attacked and miraculously healed multiple times per book, Arwyn can basically defend herself and doesn’t always need to be rescued. While there is a romance subplot, it’s not the main point of the book and I actually liked patient but persistent carpenter Declan.

This was darker than I expected - there’s a serial killer of children, and some quite distressing scenes, some of which are revealed as dreams/visions, but were still horrific. On the plus side, we’re spared any detailed love scenes and I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Arwyn & Declan.
I enjoyed the cameo appearance by Sam, Clive & Dave, and the revelations of family ties between them. Overall I think I liked this better than the last few Sam books, and look forward to continuing Arwyn’s adventures next year. Just don’t read this while hungry - the frequent descriptions of Arwyn’s baking had me longing for sweet treats!

Ok, this was not as awesome as the Sam Quinn books but it’s a good enough start. 3.5-4 stars for the Sea Wicche. Now if I had to choose, Sam will win every single time, Arwyn and Declan are slowly growing on me. Arwyn is trying to build a life for herself with her gallery and psychic business all while avoiding becoming the Third in the Corym witch triad. Arryn was the witch who built the chess set in the Sam Quinn series so I’m side eyeing her 😒 but she’s dedicated to doing good and that leads the police to her doorstep asking for help to find a child killer. Her power as a clairvoyant means her life may be shortened if she joins her power with her mom and grandmother, and her powers physically affect her. There are two storylines in this first book, the child killer as well as a sorcerer intent on stealing the Corey powers.
Between trying to find an evil Sorcerer, a child killer, a budding romance with a reluctant alpha werewolf, a found father, and more family drama that a person wants. I do wish there was more interactions with the sea creatures as that’s part of her heritage. They came of more caricaturish in this book as opposed to Sam’s books, though Wilbur sounds awesome.

A great start to a new series!

I didn't think I'd like this series as much as the San Quinn books, but I love it more. Set in the same world and city as Sam's books, familiar characters and locations blend with the new. I'm excited for the next story in Arwyn's chronicles.

I ADORED this book! I can’t believe I have to wait a year for book two!

I love this first book in a spin off series of The Sam Quinn series. I stayed up all night reading bc I couldn’t put it down! I am a huge fan of that series and I really like the new direction this series is taking while still keeping a similar story line going. And MCs Arwyn and Declan are both similar to and different from Sam and Clive.

The universe created in Sam’s books gives us a great foundation to understand very quickly what the situation is in Monterey where Arwyn is located. While this book stands alone it does help to have read what came before in the first series. This is most significant at the point that Sam, Clive and Dave appear in this book. At the end of this book we get a sneak peek of book two which begins with a trip to The Slaughtered Lamb for Arwyn and Declan to seek Dave’s help. I hope there will continue to be crossover like this in the series.

The story arc moves well and the character development is nicely done in a smooth way that enhances the storytelling. There are some great secondary characters who help to advance the storyline and I hope we get more of them in future books. There was some confusion for me when we find out more about Arwyn’s grandmother and mother and the Corey Wicche Counsel and I would have liked a bit more background there but it’s not a huge gap (and it might just be me that was confused!)

My biggest complaint is that I’ve got wait until next year for book two!! Pre-ordered already!

Great New Series- Sam Quinn World

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been curious about the main character since she carved the chess pieces for Sam that were introduced in the Hound & the Hare (Sam Quinn book.)

It’s fun to see guest appearances by familiar characters. The main character Arwyn is interesting, and has flaws like anyone else. The descriptions and world building around her gallery, art, baking, and friends in the sea, really bring the story to life.

I would highly recommend the book to anyone who liked the Sam Quinn stories. Note: there are scenes that might be a trigger for some people surrounding the abuse of children.

DNF 60%. Had promise, and there were parts that I thought were very good. I liked her unique powers based on her parentage, and how graphic the affects of investigating the brutal crimes were on her physically. But the book hops all over the place, including incorporating past characters and story lines, and in the end I felt that it was childishly written.

Uggghhh book two comes out in April ‘24.!!
Why.!?!?

It’s about a lady, Arwyn, who is born from strong wicche and a sea fae witch. She is a clairvoyant, she uses her ability to make quick money while her bakery-tea shop/ art gallery is under repair. She gets word of mouth recommended to a detective that is stuck on a case that she is a great psychic. So hesitantly the detective goes and ask Arwyn if she can help.
After a few “Pleases”, Arwyn agrees since it is a little boy that went missing two days ago. She has a few visions of the boy before knowing, and so when she goes to the boy’s house, she has a feeling of where to go and look for clues and stuff but the evil there is so evil that she has too much emotions to keep going. So she discovers a milk carton that the killer used to peak in on the boy.
She goes home and shuts down and sleeps for a few hours. The next time she goes to help them she finds out where exactly the killer’s lab is and what has happened to the boy. All from touching remnants on her hand and being in the forest.
Eventually the killer strikes again taking an even younger victim. She helps right again since she is feeling better in using her powers for that. She finds the next victim within hour of her looking…alive or not. You would have to see yourself. You would also have to see who the killer is.

All while that is happeningThe repair guy, Declan, becomes her friend. He is a werewolf from a very powerful line called “Quinn”. But he doesn’t want anyone to know. He’s all alone in the world as everyone he loves has passed on do to being murdered. So he uses a different last name and is a nomad. Until he friends Ms.Arwyn. Then their friendship is rocky at first but becomes solid. He discovers som family history, becomes Arwyn anchor when she’s having visions, and hopefully her boyfriend too. Only time shall tell.
Together they find the predator taking little children, help one another with family discoveries, protect each other and maybe fall in love.
They also discover there is a sorcerer in Arwyn’s family. One that is doing harm to the family. And so that person is killing or trying to kill powerful women so they can gain a certain power. This person is making Arwyn go insane and second guess anything she can do. Will she eventually be able to stop the Corey killer and discover the family betrayer?
Read and find out.
Just know that it’s a lot of excitement, twist and turns, discovery’s. It’s pretty good book, no I haven’t read the Sam Quinn one but she makes an appearance in here. Just know this one ends with a cliffhanger 🫠

I really enjoyed this first book in this spin off series from the Sam Quinn series. Arwyn Cassandra Corey is a half wicche - half sea fae, who we briefly met in the Sam Quinn series. She made something especially for Sam while she was in England (no spoilers, but if you know, you know!).

This book has a couple of plots, both of which I really enjoyed. The first one is a family problem, but not quite a simple problem. First up, her mother and grandmother are part of the wicches' Council and have been bothering Arwyn for ages about joining as their third. They need her clairvoyance, her "Cassandra" powers of telling the future and being able to divine things through touch to strengthen their circle. Arwyn has always been reluctant to join. Alongside that, there is a sorcerer in their family working with a demon and together they need to find out who is the one that has turned to dark magic. Using Arwyn's visions and nightmares, they are able to prevent certain things from happening.

The next plot was Arwyn using her powers to help the police when a young boy is kidnapped. Despite the reluctance of the detective initially, she feels there is no other stone left to turn, so asks Arwyn for help, not realising the toll this will take on her. This particular plot was very disturbing and asks the question, "Are some people born to be evil or does their environment cause them to be this way?" Either way, it was emotionally hard reading about what was happening.

There's also a little love interest between Arwyn and Declan, a roaming werewolf, working on the construction of her art gallery and they fast become friends and very attracted to one another. I loved the way Declan was always there for her, but have no idea how he didn't lose his job with the amount of time he took off to help her! I would have loved to have found out more about his heritage and links with another wolf, but that was quickly glossed over. Maybe there will be more in the next book.

We got to see Sam, Clive and Dave make a quick appearance as well and I hope they come back as there is still so much more that Sam needs to share and likewise Arwyn's family needs to share too.

Looking foward to reading more about both of these series now.

Okay, I have to admit that I loved this book. It’s got magic, mystery, and a heroine who actually feels real—flaws, sarcasm, and all. Arwyn is half-wicche, trying to live a normal-ish life while running a seaside art gallery/bakery, but of course, things aren’t that simple.

She has to wear gloves 24/7 because touching people gives her visions of their thoughts and memories and trust me, some of those thoughts are just cruel: Imagine having a crush on a guy only to “accidentally” find out he’s just using you to make someone else jealous. Yeah. Yikes.

But what I genuinely admired about Arwyn is that she doesn’t let this stuff break her. She’s got a lot on her plate—family pressure, self-doubt, a business to run—but she keeps pushing forward. She’s smart, funny, and tough in a way that feels natural, not forced. Her banter with the side characters? Absolutely spot-on. The dialogue is sharp, witty, and adds so much charm to the story.

However, things take a turn when a murder mystery begins to unfold. A serial killer is on the loose, and suddenly, her powers aren’t just a pain; they might even help solve the case. The book has this perfect mix of cozy fantasy vibes and real suspense, so it never feels too light or too dark. Also, the romance? Slow-burn and just right—it’s there, but it doesn’t take over the story.

Honestly, I flew through this book. The pacing is great, the world-building is intriguing without being overwhelming, and Arwyn is the kind of character I need to read more about. I can’t wait to see where her story goes next. If you’re into paranormal fantasy with a badass, relatable lead and a solid mystery woven in, "Bewicched" is 100% worth your time.

Absolutely delightful. Haven't read a novel for a while now; Bewicched was a delightful reintroduction to this form of media.

It was nice being in Arwyn's head, even when she was being churlish. She comes off as a bit compassionless and mean sometimes, but there are very compelling and self-preserving reasons for that. I won't get into the details, but it was gripping to see her world expand, her prickliness smooth out, and the intent behind her actions change as her resolution to keep her bubble undisturbed diminished.

I could go on about how the way the story unfolded kept me on the edge of my seat as well as how excited I was when certain characters showed up; their meeting was wonderfully done. 10/10. I can't wait to see them more! And of course, I haven't forgotten the hints at future characters and their cool gifts to be more thoroughly revealed (hopefully!).

The only complaint I had was regarding the mystery around...well, one of the antagonists. But there were signs that this whole evil plot is bigger than anyone thinks so I have no doubt that more startling reveals are on their way.

I absolutely loved Seana Kelly's way of writing in her Sam Quinn series and thoroughly appreciated how it was her writing style that welcomed me back into this pocket of fiction. Definitely a series I'd recommend!

As an avid reader of the Sam Quinn series, I knew I would circle back to this one at some point, having met Arwyn in that story. We join Arwyn in her own element here. She’s a touch psychic, but can also see vision of the future and/or the current time (the rules appear to be evolving). Having avoided her family obligations and followed her guts for this long, when a lone werewolf shows up on her door and no alarm bells ring, she goes with that too.

I really liked the Arwyn/Declan show here. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and while there are twists and turns, it was immensely satisfying that this book didn’t take the typical path of a paranormal romance. There are a few parallel stories going on in this book. There is the family drama, where Arwyn needs to manage the expectations they have of her, while still managing not to lose her mind through overuse of her gift. There’s the ask that a police detective has of her, to help track a child murderer down. There’s some mystery around who her dad is. Lastly there is an evil sorcerer afoot, which luckily means we get to see a very familiar demon show up.

Overall, this was a wonderful introduction to the very complex world that Arwyn lives in. She is immensely gifted and has wonderful support (including some awesome sea life), but she struggles to trust. It was really great watching that reluctant trust build between her and Declan and I absolutely cannot wait to see where their relationship goes.
