As the captain of Manchester Athletic, I know exactly what persona the media and fans need to see. Everything else is behind tightly closed bedroom doors.
I didn’t have a pretty childhood. I’m all kinds of broken. The only relationships I have contain boundaries, non-disclosure agreements and safe words. My best friend and teammate is one of the few people who knows about what I do in private.
My problem?
The one woman I think I can fall in love with - his sister.
Target Man in steamy, slow burn with a bang, older brother's best friend, soccer sports romance, with a dirty talking hero who knows exactly how to take control. Be warned, one more chapter will keep you up all night! Part of the Manchester Athletic series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.
I loved this book until I didn't. As a reminder, just because I didn't love it, it doesn't mean you won't love it. I have mixed feelings about this book
For about ninety percent, I loved the book. Great build-up and storyline with spice. It's kept my attention, and I wanted to read it in one sitting.
However, the last ten percent was a one-eighty. It seems rushed, and to avoid significant plot holes, details were put in a summary. But not in great detail. It’s skipped over. It took away from the storyline.
Target Man by Annie Dyer is book 4 in the Manchester Athletics series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is the first book I’ve read in this series.
Jesse Sullivan is the gorgeous captain of Manchester Athletics team who keeps his personal life quiet. He is respected and liked by team mates and fans alike, but he has a secret. After a brutal and unloved childhood, Jesse doesn’t do relationships. Unless, it’s a formal no-strings kinky arrangement, with signed, enforced NDA’s involved.
Jerrica, his team mate’s sister, grew up in the football world. She knows Jesse from time shared in her brother’s home. She wants more, but she doesn’t want him to think she’s using him for research in her steamy romance writing career.
I love Annie Dyer’s writing. She has a remarkable understanding of characters and relationships. Jesse is both strong and hesitant. He runs away from relationships because he doesn’t feel he deserves to be loved. With a few pushes from Jerrica, they agree to a short term fling while in France. She accepts that it will be over when they return to Manchester. The chemistry between them continues to sizzle and Jesse has to decide if he wants to let her in after all. I really loved this book and look forward to reading the rest.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
Target Man Manchester Athletic Annie Dyer Ms Dyer has the knack of creating awesome characters. Love, love, love this book! Jesse is the team captain who likes fast cars a little too much, he also has a penchant for control. Jerrica is more than Nate’s little wayward sister. She is secretly a romance author, creative and an amazing aunt. From Manchester in the off season to the south of France the setting is gorgeous. I had a dilemma, I did not want to put this book down but at the same time wanted to savour it and make it last, not read it all in one go. I just thoroughly enjoyed the whole novel! If you like steamy, sporty character driven books this is for you. It is part of the Manchester Athletic series but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I received an arc of this book. 5 stars
This sexy, emotional, and swoon-worthy love story will take you on an unforgettable adventure that is sure to leave you beyond happy and your heart full. It is full of angst, scorching hot chemistry, humor, love, and pain. From the moment I first opened the book, to the second I finished it, I was transfixed. I did not want this book to end.
Book four in the Manchester Athletic series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
Jerrica is the younger sister of team goalie, Nate. She has been around a lot over the last few years helping her brother when his life fell apart and was rebuilt again. She has gotten to know Jesse during that time as friends. And she had a crush on him a bit too. Jesse is the team captain of the Athletics. He keeps his private life private. He has never had a relationship. Only a few know what a horrible childhood he had and why he avoids getting close emotionally.
“He was every father’s nightmare and every good girl’s wet dream, including mine.”
I adored Jesse. He is vulnerable but hides it well. I love that he goes to therapy and has for long enough that he can talk himself through difficult moments. He knows and accepts himself as he is. That is an extremely attractive quality. In the bedroom, he likes to be in control. There have been rumors about his proclivities, but none have been confirmed. I love that Jesse is just as attracted to Jerrica as she is to him. When they spend time together, that attraction gets stronger until it cannot be denied.
This book is steamy. I mean, smoking hot. Annie never disappoints in this area, but this one is steamier than her more recent books and I am here for it. Along with the heat level there is an emotional connection the characters share. They support each other but don’t push each other. I love that their black moment turns out to be low angst. I was afraid it would be a big thing and it was not. There are a few favorite moments that will stick in my brain for a while. There is a locker room scene with the guys with some amazing team banter. There is a wonderful scene with the ladies in the garden as they form closer relationships. Chapter 11 has a well-deserved warning to not make it your “just one more chapter”. And of course, some highlighted quotes that were perfection. This was an excellent read. I can’t wait for the next in the series.
“Life wasn’t about just surviving the dark times. It was about dancing in the light.”
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
TW from author: This book contains references to childhood trauma and the death of a parent. There are no graphic details, and the book charts the character’s resilience and growth with the support of therapy. There is a HEA.
Sigh….I am totally in love with this Sports Romance series. The stories are written so well that I am emotionally invested in the outcome for the characters. Target Man is book 4 of the Manchester Athletics series, and it’s a slow burn that just simply explodes. Jesse is our broken hero. He is a control freak but smart and kind, but he has a bit of a dark side. Jerrica is still trying to figure out where she fits in the world. She’s funny and confident. Jerrica has crushed on Jesse since she first met him, and when she was brave enough to tell him, he rejected her because Jerrica is his best friend and teammate’s sister. Although he doesn’t stop thinking about her. She is sunshine, laughter, and innocence, and he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. They manage to avoid each other until Jesse gets into trouble and loses his license, and is forced to find a driver. Jerrica is trying to follow her passion, and while she’s writing, she moves in with her brother to help with his family. Jerrica becomes the best option to Jessie’s driving problem, and he reluctantly hires her to chauffeur him around town. The trouble is, the more time he spends with her, the more he wants her. Jerrica makes several brave attempts to show how she feels, but Jesse turns away every time. When they are forced to share a bedroom, the chemistry is just too hot to handle. His feelings run deeper than he ever imagined possible, but Jesse is afraid that he can never give Jerrica what she deserves. He may just loose the greatest game of his life if he can’t wrestle his fears and take a chance.
"He was every father's nightmare and every good girl's wet dream, including mine."
Jerrica Morris is crushing hard on Jesse Sullivan and, unless she's reading him wrong, he's attracted to her, too. He rejected her once but when she accepts the role of his driver, whilst he's on a driving ban, the two start spending a lot more time alone together. A trip to France, one bed, copious amounts of wine, good food, and free time really begin to work their magic. Who knows if it will be just a flash in the 'holiday pan', or if Jesse is willing to work for something he's beginning to realise that he can't lose.
"I wanted to step out of my controlled, boundaried expectations about what I could deserve and venture further into the unknown. With her."
Jerrica and Jesse were incredibly sweet and hot together. I loved how Jesse slowly let his barriers down and loosened his need for control because he wanted to try for Jerrica. I grieved for his past and the difficulties he faced growing up, but I adored the man he'd become. He was a good man with a good heart. Jerrica was a strong, confident woman. This author's heroines are always pretty solid characters and Jerrica was no exception. I liked that she didn't push Jesse or play games with his heart. She was patient and accepting but had the courage to ask for what she wanted. This was a fantastic read. I was completely absorbed and invested in the characters' lives.
“Target Man” is a heartfelt, fun and steamy Soccer romance that pulled me in from the beginning with Jesse’s genuine personality and Jerrica’s caring side that was the perfect combo for this couple.
Jerrica is in a limbo in her life trying to figure out her next move in life. She’s been staying in Manchester with her brother, Nate and is helping out with his daughters and with Amber who is due soon with their next child. She’s always felt an attraction to Jesse, the captain of the Athletic. He’s been kind with her but has made it very clear that he doesn’t do relationships. But when he needs a driver for 6 months, Jerrica volunteers to help him out. But as they spend time together, both start to realize they have more in common than they first thought.
Oh, how I love when a beautifully broken man finds the one who can help him fix everything when he wasn’t trying to find her. Jesse had a hard childhood and that skewed his views on relationships. But the more he hung out with Nate, he could see what a healthy relationship was like. And Jerrica was the perfect woman to help him get over any traumas and find a healthy balance. I loved how caring she was and never pushed him or expected him to give more than he could. She never wanted to change him but help him. Jesse is a tenderhearted guy but has a delicious dirty side to him that I loved. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I loved Target Man. I always get swept away in the Manchester Athletic world that Annie Dyer has created. Jesse is the team captain, loves fast cars, and his secrets in his private life until Jerrica throws that off track. Jerrica is Nate’s sister and figuring out what she wants to do with her life and in the mean time she agrees to drive Jesse around. As the more these two spend around each other the chemistry becomes harder to ignore. Jesse and Jerrica take us on a whirlwind adventure that is heartfelt, funny, and enough steam to make you melt. Then add in the banter of our favorite teammates, family drama, and pasts that they will either push these two to give in or pull them apart before it goes anywhere. Don’t miss out on Target Man, you will be hooked from the start and devouring to find out what Jesse is hiding, will these two only dance around each other, or take the shot and see where it goes?
Jesse Sullivan is Captain of Manchester Athletic football team. He is their target man, the player the rest of the team tries to get the ball to. He never gets involved in brawls; keeps quiet on his personal life and keeps a low profile. But his one vice is cars and being a speed freak to the point that he got busted and now has his license suspended for 6 months along with a fine and community service. If he fights it he could lose endorsements so now he needs to find a driver. Jerrica Morris is 28 and her brother Nate plays on the Manchester team and is Jesse's teammate, so she has spent a lot of time around the team. She has been helping out with Nate's kids but she's also a writer. When Jesse brings up needing a driver she says she will do it, the pay is great plus she gets to travel with him, not to mention the crush she has on him. Jesse doesn't do relationships or even knows how to. He had a crappy childhood and any time spent with someone they have an NDA to sign. She is the reason for his last ticket so spending a lot of time together will be a test for both. The sparks are flying and the chemistry is strong but they both have issues to work on.
Jesse Sullivan is team captain of the Manchester Athletic, always portraying the image of the perfect soccer player, always a gentleman, inside and out the pitch. Jerrica Morris is Nate’s little sister, who also happens to be Jesse’s teammate and one of his closest friends. Jerrica is a very independent woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. Jesse is very private about his life, both because his upbringing was difficult and because his very particular taste in the bedroom. These two banter like no other, always back and forth why they should why they shouldn’t give into their feelings/emotions. But once they both are in? Oh boy! It was amazing! Our Jesse has some serious stamina! And Jerrica gives as good as she gets. Don’t sleep on this whole series! Ms. Dyer knows how to write fun, spicy and heartfelt romance.
Jesse is the team captain with a past that has left him broken with certain tastes, and yet, he's the leader on this team. Jerrica is one of his teammate's sister, so she's totally off limits to him, and yet, they gravitate towards each other like crazy. The sparks are flying despite all the complications involved, but they're really perfect for each other. Target Man was one of those books that once you start, you simply can't put down as you wait on that other shoe to drop. It made me all kinds of anxious because there's always a fall out when it comes to matters of the heart with an off limits sister so I stayed on the edge of my seat. There's all kinds of heat, angst that had me feeling their pain, humor, and maybe just maybe, love at the end of the day but I'll never tell! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
From start to finish I loved this story. Jesse is the team captain and friends with Nate who is also Jerrica’s brother. He has lost his license and has to hire someone to drive him around for the next six months. Jerrica offers to do it as she is currently trying to figure out what she wants to do and hoping it is a writing career. She has had a long time crush on him and he has an attraction for her as well. He doesn’t want to ruin his friendship and also feels that his ways in the bedroom would be too much for her. When these two are together the sexual tension is palpable. These two definitely complement each other and I loved seeing them grow closer. Loved it as I have the rest of the series. It is a stand alone so you don’t have to read the others but you get more background for the side characters of this story if you do. One click this one.
Jesse is my new favorite Manchester Athletic man! He's been through a tough life, but he knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Until he realizes what he wants is his teammates sister Jerrica! Jerrica is living with her brother Nate helping with his kids, while she tries her hand and a new career when an opportunity to spend more time with Jesse arises and she jumps on it. Jesse keeps her at a distance and when his walls fall down, it will melt your kindle! There's a warning about a chapter in the beginning of the book, do not take that warning lightly! Smoking hot chemistry, brother's best friend, and fast cars, this book has it all!
There is so much I love about Target Man, the characters, the plot, and the small things that make this book stand out.
Target Man took all of its tropes and turned them upside down by handling them in a unexpected but perfect way. The issues that were presented in this book were original and added to the story.
I adored Jerrica and how she handled everything from her brother, to Jesse and just how she handled herself. She was truthful, straight to the point and was the perfect match for Jesse. Not all authors are adapting the way romance is changing but Annie Dyer is doing an excellent job at adapting her stories but making the books feel how they always have!
I loved Jesse and Jerrica so much!!! I could not put this book down. Ms. Dyer writes characters that have so much heart, you just want to keep reading. I loved seeing Jerrica and Jesse's relationship grow and all the love they have for each other.
Holy shit what a book. I didn't know it was going to be one with the hero having a troubled past, but damn was it well written. The emotions were coming out of the paper at times and I just felt his struggles, his sadness and his emotional damage. It was such a realistic and relatable book, or well the characters were. I loved Jerrica and Jesse from moment one, but when they went to France I fell even harder for them as an item. They are so strong apart, but they also really complement each other as a couple. This book got me out of my slump again, so thanks to the author for writing another freaking great book in this amazing series!
This is Jesse and Jerrica’s love story. He’s the target man and captain of the football/soccer team and she is Nate’s sister. Since her brother is part of the team, she knows all the players and spends a lot of time around them. Also, since Nate was a widower, she was always around helping him with his daughters. Anyway, she has the hots for him, he has a reputation of being into kinky stuff in the bedroom and is afraid of messing up the relationship to his friend by getting involved with his sister. They end up spending a lot of time together by chance and by choice and it’s amazing, then they get intimately involved and realize they have awesome chemistry, but they both have hang-ups they need to work out for a relationship to blossom… they go through a lot and come out with a HEA in the end.
Loved the storyline, the characters, the descriptions of the places, the food, the wine, the scenery, even the smells. It was exciting to read this story. It made me want to travel and see those places for myself!
Jessie loves his job,he is living the dream, a professional footballer, a great house and a lot of fast cars! One thing he isn’t into is relationships, he has a good reason for that, but it doesn’t stop him feeling slightly envious of some of his teammates.
Jerrica is the sister of the goalkeeper on Jessie’s team, and she really likes Jessie, but he won’t cross that line with her, and his reasoning is her brother knows too much about him and his way of life!
Will a week in France bring them closer together or push them apart, only time, understanding and lots of talking will tell.
Absolutely awestruck!!! This book had everything!! Suspense, drama, love and heat 🔥!!! I love Jesse and Jerrica!!! Such an amazing love journey!!! She is so my new hero!!! These two might be my favorite in the series!!!
Nate’s lil sister is grown up and knows what she wants….Jesse Sullivan who happens to be her brothers teammate. Jesse had a rough upbringing but Jerrica is everything he needs to show him everything he never knew he wanted. This one is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
Loved this one, it was one of those feel-good books that kept you smiling and grinning throughout the story. We loved the characters, the men are great and so are the women.
Jerrica is floundering a bit in life trying to figure out if she has it in her to be a full-time writer if not what she plans to do with the rest of her life but, one thing she knows for sure is she has the hots for her brother's teammate and has for some time. Loved Jerrica's character she was sweet and kind and loving Jesse called her wholesome and I would have to agree but, she really had a knack for reading people without judgment, and loved her easiness just with everyone she came in contact with she was so easy to talk to. From the moment we met her, we already knew she was going to be special, and as the story progressed she proved that to be true time and time again.
Jesse is the team's Captain and a man who loves fast cars and does not do relationships. Jesse is a man a bit broken because of things that happened in his past, and have molded him into the man he is today. We loved seeing Jesse's vulnerability, and he wasn't afraid to ask for help to seek guidance for dealing with his emotions' whether it was for the past or the present. We saw first-hand how Jesse blossomed right before our eyes under the guidance of Jerrica something that came naturally to her.
Not only that, but we loved the chemistry between Jerrica and Jesse as it was fun and flirty, and they had a lot of fun together inside and outside the bedroom. We will say we thought it was going to be the whole DOM/sub-BDSM scenario going hard but, their sex life was so much more, it was about trust and acceptance and learning something new. We loved that Jesse put, his trust in Jerrica and her in him. The connection they had with one another was changing Jesse's thought process slowly and delicately but, we saw him where he allowed certain situations to happen but, never before her and only with her and even though Jesse may have not realized it. With Jerrica loving him and he loving her, he was healing and falling in love when neither was looking nor expected. That is one of the things we loved about this couple's journey, It was unexpected, and it felt raw and real that they were open and honest with one another with their needs and wants out of life whether it was in a lover or a partner.
Overall, we thought this story was beautifully written, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We love this series and its characters so much, and we can't wait for the next installment. There was one loose end that never got tied up, perhaps next time we will get to the bottom of it, and we have a feeling we will be seeing more of Jesse and Jerrica once again.
Target Man by Annie Dyer, book five in her Manchester Athletic series, is a heartfelt, fun and sizzling soccer romance that captivated me in from page one, with Jesse’s genuine personality and Jerrica’s caring, compassionate side that was the perfect combo for this couple. Jesse Sullivan is the gorgeous captain of Manchester Athletics team who had a hard, unloving childhood which influenced his view toward relationships; causing him to believe that he doesn’t deserved to be loved. Hanging out with best friend and teammate Nate, Jesse could see what a healthy relationship was like. Jerrica is at loose ends with what to do next with her life after selling her highly successful event planning business. She’s been staying in Manchester with her brother, Nate, helping out with his family, while working on her second romance book. She’s been attracted to Jesse, and while he’s been kind with her, he has made it very clear that he doesn’t do relationships. When he needs a driver for 6 months, Jerrica volunteers to help him out. But as they spend time together, both start to realize they have more in common than they first thought. Jerrica was the perfect woman to help him deal with the trauma of his past and find a healthy balance. Jerrica was caring, never pushing him or expecting him to give more than he could. The chemistry between them sizzles, electrifying the air around them and Jesse has to decide if he wants to let Jerrica into his heart after all. Jesse might have been a broken man at the start, but Jerrica is the one who can help him heal, though he wasn’t trying to find her.
Target Man was a heartwarming, emotional, and swoon-worthy love story that should definitely not be missed. Ms. Dyer provided a tale with sizzling chemistry, magnetic attraction, and difficult topics being dealt with and handled with care. Jesse or Jerrica were not looking for a relationship but fate had other plans for them. I totally enjoyed and highly recommend Target Man to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Super steamy and emotional, Jesse and Jerrica’s story is perhaps the most swoon-inducing book in the series so far. He’s the captain of the team and Jerrica’s brother’s best friend who’s had a rough go of things growing up and has grown into a man with certain tastes and quirks, and she’s a fairly secret romance writer that’s so much more than she’s really been given credit for. Because of Jesse’s love of fast cars and driving, he’s found himself in need of a personal driver. Jerrica happens to need some cash, so she offers to take the job. There’s a mutual attraction between them, but can there be anything more to their relationship, or will they be over before they’ve ever really begun?
I love the complexity of these characters! They’re both more than meets the eye and discovering all their layers made this book genuinely unputdownable. Jesse’s character especially got me. His life hasn’t been easy to say the least, and the emotional/mental repercussions he’s had to deal with made me feel for what he’s gone through. Jesse’s truly had a lot to deal with, and Jerrica’s perfect for him. She’s an utter doll and there’s something so satisfying about how well she balanced Jesse.
Also, I enjoyed revisiting the other characters that we’ve already gotten to know in the previous books. This might be Jesse and Jerrica’s book, but it was fun getting bits of the other characters here, too. Their inclusion in the storyline helped move it along nicely but having said that you don’t actually need to read the first books to understand what’s going on. However, I think after reading Target Man, if you haven’t read the others in the series then you’re going to want to.
This is another wonderful addition to the Manchester Athletic series that’s full of spiciness and heart. If you love sports romance as much as I do, then check out these books and definitely read this one.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really loved this story so much. It is Jesse and Jerrica's romance. We have met them in the previous book because both characters are very connected to Nate. Jerrica is Nate's younger sister and Jesse is Nate's close friend and teammate.
Jerrica has a HUGE crush on Jesse. To the outside world he is mr nice guy. But inside he loves racing cars and has a very wild sex life. Jesse actually likes Jerrica back but fears it would ruin his friendship with Nate and so he tries to pretend he is not into her.
Until he ends up losing his license because of his love for speed and ends up hiring Jerrica to drive him around town and on his summer vacation.
This is a forbidden romance with a very wounded man, Jesse who suffered as a young child and grew up to be wealthy and people want to use him for his money and sports skills. Jerrica is a sweetheart, and she is both fun and sexy and as the two spend the summer together things get a bit heated. Can these two have a summer fling and not fall for each other? What will Nate think of their fling? Will Jesse lose Nate as his best friend? You will have to read this story to find out.
This was a huge favorite for me. I adored Jesse and Jerrica. Despite Jesse being into casual sex and him feeling like he was not good enough for Jerrica, I adored him. He is this closed off amazing guy with a huge heart. I loved that Jerrica could see that about him and I loved watching her follow her heart.
Target Man by Annie Dyer is the fifth book in the Manchester Athletic FC series and be still my beating heart, but what a READ! Jesse and Jerrica had me hooked, had me on tenterhooks, had me devouring every single page, hungry for the next thought, the next interaction, the next stolen moment.
Jesse is a hot head, is driven, dedicated, distant yet has a huge capacity for love if given the chance, and if he's willing to take the chance. He's brash, he has a huge presence, and carries the weight of his past on his shoulders. And the fact that he's a bit of a delicious grump with a dominant side? SWOON.
Jerrica, Jez, is endearing and sweet and a bit adrift in terms of life planning, loving and caring and has so much to give, if the right person would open up their eyes and see what's right in front of them.
Miscommunications, misunderstandings, chemistry galore, the fight to hold and break control, the push and pull, the will they won't they, the near misses, the goals scored, all of it is decadent and delectable!
If you're looking for a book with fabulous characterization, world building, some light angst, and it's so good to be bad vibes that'll have you shifting in your seat, this will be the target you want to aim for! You won't regret it!
P. S. I ADORED spending time with familiar faces! Nate and Amber are too cute!
P. P. S. Genny is a legend, and I CANNOT WAIT for her story! And everyone else's that's still warming the bench!
P. P. P. S. LOVED that note to readers! Chapter 11 starters, indeed, be aware! UNF!
Book 4 in the Manchester Athletic Series and for me, Jessie Sullivan and Jerrica’s journey is a wonderful addition to the series in fact I going to go be better and say this is my favourite story so far. Jessie is captain of Manchester Athletic and he loves everything football, he takes the captaincy very seriously and the last thing he needs is a relationship. But when he needs a driver for three months it’s his teammate Nate’s sister who offers her services and what starts out as a purely business arrangement soon turns into so much more. It was only meant to be a fling but it’s not long before real feelings take over so will Jerrica and Jessie continue with their relationship and how will his teammate and her brother react. One click now to find out. Target Man ticked all my boxes, I fell hard and fast for Jessie and I adored Jerrica, the chemistry is sizzling and the banter is witty but it was the emotion that made thus a very special read. Can’t wait to see who story is next.
Target Man is a steamy sports romance. Jerrica is trying to figure out life, what she wants, what she’s gonna do. In the meantime, she’s staying with her brother, Nate, and his family to help them out with the kids. Jesse, the captain of the football team where Nate plays, needs some help. He needs a driver for the next few months, and Jerrica is all to willing to volunteer for this job. It doesn’t hurt if you have a crush on him and now you be around him more than ever. Jesse is working in himself, with the help of a therapist, but never knew he would see Jerrica’s help in another way than just helping him out. He never knew she could be the most important thing/person to get him to heal.
It was such a heartfelt story. Jerrica is trying to find her way in life, and so does Jesse, but in another way. He needs healing from his past. This was a very emotional book, the way Jesse put his heart out there to deal with all of his problems. I loved it.
Jesse Sullivan loves to be in control of everything especially as the captain of Manchester Athletic but when he loses his driver’s license for six months he needs a driver who will always know what he is doing. But he won’t be in control when his best friend’s sister, Jerrica Morris volunteers to drive him while she writes her next romance.
Jesse is the character that has taken several books in the series to understand why he needs to be in control because of his background but his friends-to-lovers relationship with Jerrica slowly happens even with all of Jesse’s nosey teammates being around.
Target Man is a friends-to-lovers with a slow burn between Jesse and Jerrica so now we wait for Red Heart Card coming next.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Wildfire Marketing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the fifth book in this incredible series, and this is Jesse and Jerrica’s journey. Jesse is the captain of Manchester Athletic, who had trauma in his childhood, and being controlling, he does not do relationships, and keeps his private life private. Jerrica is the younger sister of the goalie, Nate, and he is best friends and teammates with Jesse. Jerrica spends a fair amount of time around the club and has a crush on Jesse. This is a well written emotionally charged story, with chemistry, friendships, family, angst, loss, healing, challenges, secrets, intrigue, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
