Hot Voodoo
Three years ago, Casey Savoy's little sister was kidnapped. From her room. In broad daylight. There was never a suspect, or even a trail to follow. It was like she disappeared into thin air.
The incident becomes the last in a string of odd tragedies, and it leaves Casey scrambling to pick up the broken pieces left behind in its wake. After all this time though, Casey doesn't think she can stand living alone with her erratic mother for even another second.
On impulse, she heads to her hometown, determined not to be a tourist. But just barely post-Katrina New Orleans is nothing like Casey remembers it. The devastation from the storm has seeped into the heart of the city and unearthed more than one mystery, including what really happened to Sophie Savoy.

I am obsessed with Hot Voodoo! Everything from the sheer amount of detail, to the mystery and romance elements, I couldn’t get enough. This is just one of those books that needs to be a movie. I could picture each character and every exact moment as it played out. I felt myself become so attached to Casey Savoy’s narration and voice inside my head, that I just didn’t want the book to end. From the way she captured the energy of New Orleans, to the relationships brewing with Simon and Mac, I was left wanting more. I simply cannot wait for the sequel!

Very detailed. The ending was my absolute favorite part. A few different twists that make me excited to book #2.

I didn’t outright hate the book, but there are no likable characters and the storyline was sloppy, and so predictable. By the end of the book you’re left with more questions than answers — not to mention a cliffhanger, which forces you to continue on this horrendous journey.

What an incredible debut novel! The pacing was a slow build where dark motives and troubling pasts are revealed as the story goes on. The more time you spend with Casey, Simon, and Veronica, the more you want to strangle them for stupid decisions but also give them a big hug.
We’re left on a cliffhanger with more questions than answers, which makes me all the more eager for the next installment of this trilogy.

Hot Voodoo is a slow burn new adult mystery about Casey Savoy, who returns to her early childhood home of New Orleans to look for her missing sister who was kidnapped three years prior. Smartly written, the descriptions of the charming setting of New Orleans are vivid with lots of exciting flavor. I really enjoyed getting to know Casey, her childhood friend Veronica and love interests Simon and Mac. Each of the characters really came alive for me and the romantic subplot was electric! It ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader with as many questions as answers.

I loved this book. I didn’t feel myself slowly sinking into it until I didn’t want it to end. It was absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait for any other books to come out. I will definitely be getting them
