A psychological slasher short story, etched in gothic undercurrents, from the author of "The Jack O'Lantern Men" and "Whispers from the Dead of Night".
Born in South Wales, Lee Allen was an avid reader from a young age, already beginning to develop his fascination with mystery, intrigue, crime, horror and the supernatural. He soon turned to creating his own stories and hasn’t stopped writing since. He completed the manuscript for his first full-length novel while still in secondary school, which was later published as his debut crime thriller "Those Crimes of Passion" in 2012.
Heavily influenced by gothic fiction, he later released supernatural mystery "Alone" (2014); horror chiller "The Jack O’Lantern Men" (2015); short story collection "Whispers from the Dead of Night" (2020), a hybrid of horror and multiple sub-genres; and erotic horror crime thriller "Bitten" (2021).
His first children's book, "The Ghost Train", was published on Hallowe'en 2022, followed by the sequel, "The Ghost Tree", published on the Autumn Equinox 2023.
Lee continues to reside in Wales with his feline writing companion, immersing himself in imagination and research.
I was super excited to read this book because i do enjoy horror books, but i didn't feel like this was a very horror written book or at least not for me. It felt more of a thriller. That being said i did enjoy the story a lot and it kept me hooked on it, enjoy the small little clues you get towards the end. The story is easy to follow along, though it's written in the style of newspapers and letter clippings. It's a style i've never read before, but is super interesting to read. almost like you're reading a story from new clippings people sometimes keep when they follow along with a criminal trial.

A psychological slasher short story inside the mind and motives of a brutal serial killer. It's a very good read and I'm happy to have come across it. And the style with which Allen writes is so unique!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The letters to the newspaper make this story more spooky but in the end it seems to be about justice.
