Lost Forever

Leandro was a happy man with great plans for his future and uncrushable confidence. He grew up thinking he already knew himself and for the rest of his life, he was admired for his best life choices. He plans of getting married before he reached his thirty, have a small business in his small town which will thrive, and be branch out to neighboring cities. He had a wonderful life ahead of him.

Ramon on the other hand was depressed. His existential crisis was eating his sanity. At the age of twenty-two, he struggled financially. He also decided to run away from his home the moment his father found out that he's gay. After being beaten close to death, he promised never to return under the same roof as his father. He was thirsty for love, acceptance, and belongingness to the point that he kept searching for it in the wrong places.

Leandro and Ramon met as they were neighbors on this old building located at the heart of Cape Town. Both of them connected really well. They shared a few nights at the rooftop enjoying the sea of stars over cigarettes and beers. Ramon knew he's also attracted to Leandro but he was afraid that Leandro is not as gay as him. They went on for years being best friends.

Leandro introduced so many women to Ramon and Ramon played well. Until one day, they shared a kiss. It was the greatest wave of shock and instead of making him feel happy, Ramon realized that he can't drag Leandro to his voids and pointless life.

Leandro woke up one morning and Ramon was no longer there. That's when they started drifting away from each other. That's when their love kept falling apart, pushed to the oblivion of hopelessness. A love they almost had, if only Ramon was brave enough to risk things with Leandro.
