“Pack a bag and get out!”
Three days before her sixteenth birthday, Ella’s lonely life is twisted into a full disaster. The alpha’s son, Carrel, rejects her the instant he senses their bond. Refusing his mate isn’t enough. Carrel humiliates Ella, threatens her, and then banishes her from the pack. In a few short moments, Ella isn’t just an orphan, she is a pack-less rogue, not even old enough to shift and defend herself. When she becomes surrounded by bloodthirsty werewolves, all seems lost.
Appearing from the shadows, a group of warriors unexpectedly come to Ella’s aid. Swift Wind is the second most powerful pack in the kingdom. Rumors whisper of their strength and ruthlessness. Ella doesn’t have much time to contemplate her dire situation as her first shift clouds her mind with pain and she blacks out. When Ella’s eyes open, she finds herself in a pack much different from her old home. Swift Wind is strong, but the members of this fearsome pack are also loyal and kind.
Taking a new name, Ella- now River, is accepted as an official member despite her odd colored fur and the strange powers her transformation has revealed. River soon learns that she is no ordinary wolf. Destined to defeat Cerberus, the King of Hellhounds, she must train to control her powers before the rise of the next Blood Moon. River’s new family cannot hide her forever. A formidable enemy is much closer than any of them are aware and he won’t stop until River is his.

This review is full of spoilers, you have been warned!
Where should I start? I
I. The plot: it was so rushed I barely had time to get to know each character. The author wanted to include everyone’s POV’s but there was no in-depth into any of them, even our heroine. There is no real connections, because we just don’t see the interactions happening! From the beginning we are told the heroine is an outcast, but we don’t understand why. The alpha seems to like her, but his son thinks she is an ugly tomboy. Apparently that’s reason enough to become nothing in this pack. Besides a quick interaction between the future alpha’s girlfriend being bitchy towards her, I really have no idea what the whole pack thought about her.
II. The heroine: I really don’t know. I like how headstrong she is when it comes to her “fate” of battling against this unknown enemy. She doesn’ backup and let others take care of the problems. I reckon that’s the main reason I gave this book 2 stars. However, as I mentioned previously, everything is so rushed I don’t have any strong feeling toward River. She arrives into this new pack, with no combat knowledge, at the age of 16, and then 2 years later she is this powerful she-wolf, that can see the future and controls water. Again with the telling not showing issue. I wanted to see her training, the struggle, the hardships! Also, she can see when her friend is going to “attack” her, but she can’t see the big plot her ex has against her? I don’t know how the power works, and I find it hard to believe the author is not “cheating”.
III. The romance: the couple don’t get together until halfway through the book. Considering that’s a 300ish pages, you can probably imagine how quickly everything unfolds. They were saying “I love you” within a day. Yep, not joking kids.
IV. Multiple POVs: give me a good epic fantasy with multiple POVs any day, but it better be good. I just hate when the author just jumps to a different character in order to “hide” something important.
Anyway, I liked the premise, but it wasn’t for me.
Not sure, how I found and ended up reading this one.
But it was a lovely surprise. The story quite complex, it reminds me of Nora Robert’s fantasy books. This author certainly have a potential.
However, this is not exactly a paranormal romance, where there are some of those in here but not the main storyline. The story not just about how H/h ended up together, so yeah, many pov here including some from the villains.
Anyway, a very interesting read! ☺️.
She should write more in this universe, would like to read Alpha Jack and Raven story 😘
This was my first book by this author and a genre that I have only enjoyed by certain authors I took a chance on this one and it paid off it is a mixed of characters point of views and 3rd party but want I liked about it was that the mixture of points of views were not is chapter order but where they were Relevant therefore not wasting whole chapters on a section that only needed a page to get the point across. There were many twists and turns to the story but the main point of the story was about Ella/river and her destiny
This was one of the best shifter/supernatural stories I have read.
The storyline started out like most werewolf stories, but quickly proved that this was not going to be just another female bullied and rejected by her mate scenario.
The story was original, and I was happy to find that it included not only werewolves, but vampires and witches as well as Demons.
I highly recommend those that favor this genre to take the time to enjoy this unexpected adventure.
This was a great read however I want to know where book 2 is? Jack will have to choose between his wife and raven lol does he ever get the eye back?and whatever happened to Courtney after she was frozen is she dead or in the dungeon? how many kids did river and Adrian have? Amber and Blake? Roxie and dimitri? Did they decide on what they will do? all these need an answer lol
This book was really, really good about a girl who was rejected by her mate, but he wasn't her true, made her true paint mate. Is the Prince soon to be aware of king? She finds out when she leaves the pack. And finds her family finds out that her adopted. Father is actually her dad's brother, so she finds her her mate and she gets to have her happiness for temporarily. Cause cypress even though he's dead, he's gonna come back.
This book was amazing, I’ve never been this excited to finish a book just to find out what happens. I’m adding you to my favorites also I opened this book one day ago and finished today I just couldn’t put it down. At work I was just a mess and this was all I could think about reading.
What a great book! I promise I didn’t know where this one was going an boy was I not disappointed. I love River and I as so glad she got her happy after everything she been through. Oh Adrian you were absolutely yummy lol loved it. This book was movie worthy like seriously this would be a great movie loved it
I usually like a werewolf story with some good spice but although this didn’t have that it was an amazing story! Everything just flowed together beautifully and the plot flowed seamlessly it was definitely hard to put this book book down. The relationships that grew and the surprises that came along just wow. I would definitely recommend the read!
Review in portuguese 🇧🇷 Eu gostei muito desse livro. Eu recomendo. Parabéns pra autora!
I highly recommend this narrative for its compelling blend of romance and emotional complexity, which offers a distinctive storyline. The narrative's concise yet comprehensive approach effectively explores the depths of the story, ensuring an engaging experience without unnecessary prolongation.
This story was actually alot better then u thought it was going to be. I started reading it out of curiosity and honestly wasn't disappointing. I loved Rivers journey thru the whole book.
First book I've read by this author and I really loved it, the characters and world building was great and just what I needed. I really hope she writes Roxy and Dimitris story!! A MUST READ
I felt like I was reading a soap opera!! There was so much happening that I became tired of reading. But, the story kept me entertained. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a long and interesting read.
I really enjoyed this book. This book was well written and full of action. All the characters worked well together. I would like to read other books by this author. I highly recommend this book.
I enjoyed the premise of this book as well as the characters. The story seemed rushed at times and the relationship between the 2 main characters could use some time to build on it. Overall thought, an enjoyable read.
This book was really, really good.I can't wait for the sequel. it was well written. The characters were believable. The storyline was delivered with much thought. Over all it was a very good book.
Enjoyable, hoping to read more. Characters were interesting, there are definitelya few who bring forth some emotions, whether negative or positive. The storyline was entertaining.
I gave this a low rating since the main love interest didn't show up until halfway into the book. There was no spice and honestly there were too many sub plots and characters, the story became difficult to follow. Ended up skipping alot of the book.
The story plot kept me interested to keep reading. I found that there were some loopholes in it; or the story was explained too much, like it was to be a series of books not one story. I enjoyed reading River growth and strength.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well written. I'm happy to read a book that doesn't just involve wolves fighting rouges. Cerebus was a good choice for the antagonist.
I was hooked with just few line into the book.. It wasn’t too ambiguous but captivating It was just right I’d recommend this book for a nice vacation Thank you
Lots of twists and turns, this book kept you on the edge of your seat. The story is well written the carter's grab you from the beginning. Can't wait to read more from this realm.
Spellbound , intriguing and hold your interest . Love that’s it’s one book . Happy that the characters got their happy ending and good trumped evil . Just the grammar needs a little brushing up but loads better than others . Really was tolerable .
I enjoyed this story a lot. I think it was a little bit confusing when jumping from characters and we spent too much time on some that just disappeared.
Enjoyed reading a shifter book with little to no spice!
This is a wonderful story, I was pulled in. But there is there another story on the horizon because the author left it open for another book. I hope we don’t have to wait too long.
It kept my interest! If you are looking for love making, don’t stop here! Other than that it was aight! I was a little confused with all the different people, you read about them and then nothing else, as if you were left hanging.
Just knowing the ending after the flow of this Read... I'm a bit conflicted... and also more understandable of is rushed climatic scene... hopefully, another installment will help to pull it all together with more insights...
