Rate this book
Complete in one breathtaking volume — Books One and Two of an unforgettable historical romance series by an exciting new author

They were two Viking lords, the brothers Wolf and Dragon, bound both by blood and by a shared ambition to end the war with their lifelong enemies, the Saxons. They know that their only hope for peace is to persuade the Saxon Lord Hawk to unite his noble family with theirs — in a bond sealed forever by the sanctity of marriage.

Together these three men will strive to overcome centuries-old rivalries and hatred. Each will unite in marriage with an extraordinary woman who has her own special gift — and her own dreams of bringing about an end to war....

Book One

In Dream of Me we meet the Viking leader Wolf Hakonson as he embarks on a mission to kidnap the Lady Cymbra, a legendary beauty Wolf mistakenly believes is the cause of war. Instead he discovers that she is a gifted healer who will challenge him to confront his deepest yearnings — and together they will become soul mates who forge a future blessed by peace.

Book Two

The drama continues in Believe in Me , when the Saxon Lord Hawk, brother of Cymbra, seeks to strengthen the alliance by wedding a Norse noblewoman. But Lady Krysta arrives bearing many secrets — including her gift for seeing what others cannot. And as an unexpected love ignites, only Krysta can sense the looming danger that threatens the peace — and Hawk as well.

Dream of Me is one of my favorite, most read books of all time. I think I have read it at least 25 times, no joke.

It's my idea of a perfect historical romance.

Love it.

description

Wolf is the hottest Viking ever and at the top of my favorite book husbands of all time list.

This review/rating is based solely on Dream of Me. This book is actually TWO books in one. Believe in Me is good too, but just doesn't compare to Dream for me.

5/19/2013 - Since I have this shelved as both books in one, the non-review for book 2 is added here. I honestly tried to read Believe in Me, the sequel to Dream of Me but had to DNF it. This wasn't even because there was anything wrong with the story. I'm sure it would have turned out fine, probably would have been a sweet romance. Unfortunately, because I was so enamored with book 1's representation of the Viking lore and how it intertwined with the love story, I found myself frustrated with book 2's sparse Saxon representation. I got about 40% in and realized that I was forcing myself to read, so I finally decided to throw in the towel.

I will still give book 3 a shot at some point. The review below is about my love for book 1, which I read about a month ago.

4.5 stars for Dream of Me.
Perhaps he wouldn't have to kill all of them. It was preferable to leave some alive who could speak of how they had been undone.

Yes, I had to pillage (hah) the Vikings t.v. show pictures because the show is one of my new obsessions. If you get a chance to watch this epic show before reading the book (History channel is running a series 1 marathon this Sunday!), it will put the imagery into the forefront of your mind and allow you to envision the characters' world.

My first Viking romance was a huge success. I was half afraid that the brutality would be extremely watered down in favor of a sweet romance but I think the author did an excellent job of showing various Viking evils (the motto could have been : rape, kill, plunder) while still managing to humanize her characters enough to balance with the limit of what a reader would want to be subjected to.

Our lead character Wolf did have a heart, but he was still a man of his time. He was described as eyes aglow like the animal whose name he bore; this was a figure out of a nightmare. While he had an ample dose of affection for his wife, his character was never completely changed in order to try and be delicate, which works with a time that wasn't PC in any sense of the term. His place was to rule and conquer, and this was never forgotten.
So much for dragging her naked and ravaged in chains through the streets, Wolf thought ruefully.

While few people like to read about men who consider their women as property, I wouldn't expect anything less from the portion of history represented. Because I knew what to expect, I enjoyed the story for what it was.

From the very start, I was captivated by Wolf's desire for Cymbra.

What really balanced the story for me was that Cymbra was a strong and wise woman. Her beauty was the hook, but her resolve was the thing which made her a good choice of mate for Wolf. She challenged all of his beliefs and ways of doing things.
He was hardly the sort to give up; the battle between them was only just begun.

There is much that I could say about this story but I'd wish for everyone to experience it for themselves. This was my first Viking romance but it won't be last, now that I know that this can be done in such a way to satisfy both the need to read something realistic as well as beautiful.

Absolutely. Glorious. Story.

Dream of Me...5 stars. Believe in Me...3 stars.

Dream of Me was everything I heard it was and more. Wolf is the ultimate alpha male, tough as nails and well respected, yet gentle and understanding. Cymbra is strong willed, passionate and protective. They were dynamite together. Terrific dialogue, playful moments, lots of passion, and some heartbreak are woven into this wonderful story. It left me wanting for more.

Believe in Me was a little bit of a disappointment. I had high hopes for Hawk’s story because I liked him so much in the first book. Krysta’s introduction into the story was very interesting and I thought it was off to a good start and then it went nowhere fast. The passion wasn’t there between Hawk and Krysta like it was with Wolf and Cymbra. Krysta’s reasoning for rejecting Hawk in marriage just seemed a bit far-fetched, and the magical element did not work for me. It was okay and had some good moments, but Dream of Me was sooo much better. I'm holding out hope for Come Back to Me, the third and final book in the series and the delectable Dragon’s story, Wolf’s brother. Oh those Viking men!!

This review is for the second book, Believe in Me. The rating is for the 2 books together.

First book was like a 4.25 rounded down, but this book is a 3 star, maybe 3.5. So together, these 2 are 4 stars.

See my review of book 1 Dream of me here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I really didn't like this one nearly as much as the first one. First there's Hawk. Wolf kind of ruined me for men as far as this series is concerned. He's so PERFECT. So wise and still vulnerable with a couple blind spots, but mostly just soooooo heart-melting.

Hawk is stiff and a pale version of Wolf. He's kind of clueless sometimes. I would have expected the stereotypes of Vikings vs Saxons to switch their personalities around, but as it is, Hawk is more of a "dumb jock" modern equiv.

So, I wasn't too sold on him.

Krysta grew on me. Her strangeness kinda explained, but still sorta weird. Book 1 was kinda weird about the "gift" of Cymbra too, by I was distracted enough by the relationship between her and Wolf to pay it much attention.

Here, I felt the "weirdness" more prominently.

The sex wasn't as connecting or hot either.

Ending was rather abrupt. What happened to Daria? I think I might have skipped that part. I did quite a bit of skipping in order to finish this.

Definitely a 3. I don't know if I'd read the one on Dragon even if there was such a book... Not a fan of womanizers as a rule.

Review for Dream of Me...

5 stars... put on my favorite list for 2013

I've been a fan of Historical Romance for some time. It's a genre that will take me out of a reading slump or maybe perfect for a time when you don't know what to read. There are great ones, some that make you giggle and at times those that melt your heart. Dream of Me has did all three of those to me.

I was surprised at how much I love this book. I have never even heard of this author when the group I co-mod (shout out to the True Love 101 members) in decided to read it for a group read. So I decided give it a try. What first struck me was the writing style. This book is beautifully written, it's a sweeping love story not just in content but in word choice. At the first chapter, I found myself hooked at the descriptions of the people and their comminity.

The people in this book are almost more beautiful than the harsh land that it's set in. Wolf... I don't even know where to start because i'm just going to turn into a swooning fan girl and that's so not me. But I cannot help myself. He's magnificent, a viking Lord and he's kind. His appreciation for Cambria's plight is heartfelt. Plus any man that know's he's made a grave mistake and makes it right without thought to his reputation is amazing in my book. There characters are the main ones in Dream of Me but the foundation is set for Dragon (Wolf's brother) and Hawk (Cymbra's Brother) their stories and i'm so excited for these reluctant husbands to find wives...

In conclusion, I loved this book (if you couldn't already tell) and I cannot wait for the other stories in this trilogy. If you're looking for a Viking Romance, then this is a must read.

Review of Believe in Me

2 stars...

Honestly I don't even want to spend anymore time with this book. I loathed this book. It's so vastly different from Believe in Me that I almost thought this was a different author. Everything is different, first off this book is set is Essex, much less steam, no sparks between Hawk and Krysta and finally very predicable.

I have hope for Dragons book, LItton goes back to the magic found in Wolfs book.

I guess i'm just a Viking girl!

3.75⭐️ This review is for the first book! A decent Viking romance that leans more toward heartwarming than historically accurate or brutal, which honestly, is exactly what I wanted. I appreciated that the MMC wasn’t cruel or harsh on purpose, and the FMC’s mix of kindness and sass made her easy to root for. Their connection felt genuine and tender despite the rough world around them.

SPOILER! There’s a scene where he’s forced to have her whipped to appease his people and follow their customs, even though he clearly doesn’t want to. He chooses someone he trusts not to truly harm her, and after realizing how wrong it felt (the 3 lashes barely touched her), he stops it altogether, sick to his stomach. It was a powerful moment that showed his conflict between duty and love.

The story did run a bit long, and I wish their reconciliation hadn’t been overshadowed by the birth scene. Their third-act breakup resolution was too implied and we never got to see them actually talk things through. Still, it was a sweet read with a softer take on the Viking era that I really enjoyed.

I really enjoyed this story. It was one of those where the H&h are enemy's and the Hero kidnaps her. Of course she is so beautiful and kind hearted that he falls for her completely and he treats her gently and kindly for a hostage. The love scenes were steamy enough to please me and then ending was a very HEA.

I know that I will continue reading on with this series soon. I just have to know what happens with the secondary characters.

This is one of the best Viking books I have read in a really long time!!!! So good. I just loved how protective Wolf became of Cymbra. I wanted to savor this but I really enjoyed the plot line, kept me engaged. Now, I can't wait to read the Hawk and hopefully Dragon's story!!! I was really rooting a story to happen for Brita too, but I'm afraid that won't be happening. I highly recommend this series and its a KEEPER on my shelf!

Oh man was this not even on the same level as book 1. Hawk seemed weak compared to Wolf and Krysta....definitely not a strong female lead. This one seemed a 180 flip of everything compared to the first one. I'm still going to check out Dragon's book from the library and some of Josie's other work.

*Note I'm still giving this bundle 5 stars because its worth it for the first book!

It started out interesting, although I find the voyage took forever to reach the shore, but it was okay.

I was looking for more happening, with villains and everything but what I was given was a day by day account of what Cymbra was doing inside Wolf's house.

✔ Her continuous disobeyment of Wolf's command (which I don't disagree because she always has a point)

✔ Wolf's continuous patience over his wife, never intent on punishing her despite his repetitive warnings.

✔ Their insatiable sexual appetite towards each other.

✔ Wolf's continuing delay on sending the message to Hawk.

Everything just kept going around in circles. It wasn't that much of a boring read but I was hoping for more story.

The story picked up a little bit at around 69%. Things happened but at the last few chapters, I can't help my mind from wandering off on other things than the story itself. The antagonist in the end, well... I cannot really say what the reason behind because my mind is filled with "blah blah blah "

Overall, it was just an okay read.

Dream Of Me and Believe in Me is part of an older trilogy that Litton first wrote years ago and it was so dang great!! I just loved everything about this one. This book features two full-length novels. So don't be too daunted by the 800 pages, because yeah 800 pages for only $5 on Amazon is a great deal for sure. This trilogy features three couples that are connected to each other and their marriages will bring peace to these two warring nations.

The first book is Dream of Me which features Viking leader Wolf Hakonson and Lady Cymbra, a Saxon lady. There has been an arranged marriage between Wolf and Cymbra but when a miscommunication occurs, and Wolf thinks that Cymbra has cried off, he decides to go after her and kidnaps her and takes her back to his home. He learns that Cymbra is not only beautiful but talented as a healer. Wolf knows that he has little time to convince Cymbra to give their marriage a chance before her brother comes to find her.

He was her wall now, her shelter, her protection. His arms were strong, and they would never let her go.

There are some misunderstandings that happen between the two, but I really enjoyed the dynamics that develop in their relationship. This story revitalized my love of Viking romance and Litton has one of the best writing when it comes to medieval romances. Even though the hero is full on Alpha Male, and a bit controlling at times, its more out of being protective and considering the time era, it's definitely a valid concern here. But our heroine is no doormat. She will say yes and agree but then just go out and do what needs to be done and suffer the consequences later. I do love how kind and compassionate she is, and she really balances out Wolf's strong personality. I love how gentle he is with her at times, he may be the leader of his people and a Viking to boot....but he is so careful with her and when he falls in love with Cymbra...he falls very hard and I adored seeing Cymbra having him wrapped around her finger. Simply an amazing book that had me eager for more books just like this one...bring on the VIKINGS!!

Now for book two---Believe In Me. The hero is Cymbra's brother who is Saxon and his bride is a Viking lady. Now Hawk has worked hard to rebuild and make his people powerful once again. He is eager to meet his new bride that has been arranged because he does want peace between the Saxons and the Vikings. He is always ready for battle and war, but he also knows how appealing peace would be not only for himself but his people that deserve it. Krysta has come in secret posing as a servant so she can get to know "Hawk" and understand the type of man he truly is. Krysta is nervous and scared about this marriage and she wants to be loved and wants to know if Hawk will be capable of it. But her identity becomes revealed soon after she arrives and Krstya will have to win Hawk over and win his trust.

He was so far beyond her dreams, so much more than she could ever have hoped for. She loved him with all her heart and soul.

I really really adored this set up between Hawk and Krysta. Their relationship is so much fun and boy full of quite a few misunderstandings but I loved that they always end up talking and working out their problems when they arise. Their relationship isn't perfect but I truly adored Krysta. I loved that she owns up to her mistakes, and admits when she is wrong. But Krysta is a lovely character, she is hardworking and dedicated. She truly makes the best mistress, because when work needs to be done she gets in there with all the other servants and treats them as equals. She totally wins brownie points for that. But she also has a past with a horrible step brother and she doesn't believe she is worthy of Hawk. But Hawk is a swoony hero for sure. I love how he doesn't fight his feelings for Krysta. He knows he adores her and fights for her and never gives up on winning her heart and proving that she is more than enough for him no matter where she comes from and who her parentage is.

This was truly a heartwarming read that I just adored and quite a wonderful installment that kept me up all night reading and so worth the loss of sleep. Truly romantic to sizzle the senses!!

I hate when this happens, where all my GR friends love a book and I just don't like it. I hate to be one who poopoo's a book. I'm sorry guys! This just wasn't for me, I guess.

2.5 - 3 stars *wince*

Spoilers Ahead!

I did really like the way it was written. It wasn't very fluffy, compared to what I would call a 'bodice ripper'. The sex was hot and I didn't feel like the terminology was overly cheesy. It was a beautiful love story, and there were so many moments that I laughed or smiled at the antics of Wolf and Cymbra. I also thought that the author really tried to keep the spirituality of the Vikings, and tried to show the brutality of their world without losing the 'romance novel' quality. I can easily see why so many loved this story.

Unfortunately, here's what I didn't like: I felt like the harshness of the world was really toned down. Maybe it's not fair of me to say that as it is usually toned down in a romance novel, but I was really hoping that she wouldn't hold back and just tell it like it was and I'm not sure that think she did. I picked this up hoping for something closer to Outlander in terms of having the characters react in a way that was realistic to the times. I know that so many people were angry that Jamie spanked Claire, but that is exactly what would have happened in the 18th century (or worse). I wanted to see Wolf act like a true Viking and while I was told how dangerous he was, with the exception of one scene, I never really felt like we saw it. Cymbra's beauty and generosity tamed him at first sight and I just didn't buy it, I guess. In fact, I found it funny that Wolf didn't kill anyone when he took Cymbra from her home. I understand he wanted an alliance, but I just couldn't believe that a group of Vikings would come and not one person would die.

Maybe my problem is that I read The Lord of Hawkfell Island, many many times as my paperback is literally falling apart, and I can't help but compare the two. Very similar stories... in this one the Viking lord Wolf steals Cymbra to take revenge on a slight he believes her brother committed against him by very rude refusal to enterain a marraige between him and Cymbra. In Lord of Hawkfell Island the Viking lord Rorik comes to kill Mirana's brother in revenge for the death of Rorik's wife and children. He winds up stealing Mirana instead. Granted, one is WAAAY worse than the other, lmao. BUT, the point remains that these two men do not know these women at all. Both women were beautiful, compassionate, well bred... Wolf took one look at Cymbra and immediately wanted to cherish her, but with Rorik those feelings came slowly and in the beginning he was cruel and rough. It was definitely toned down in Hawkfell Island also because it's also a romance novel first, but I feel like Catherine Coulter held back LESS. Rorik does things in her book that upset you, I won't get into it in case you read it, but they WERE a brutal people and at the onset he acted like a brutal man. They didn't often show mercy.

One last thing before I stop being such a drag, I didn't like how Wolf found himself praying to the Christian God, and it bringing him peace. I recognize that this book takes place at a time where Vikings were changing but I really felt that it was gratuitous and didn't fit into the story at all. There was no reason to have this quick little scene in the book other than perhaps the author herself is Christan and wanted to... I don't know, put a leaning on which belief system was the better. I also felt the same when Cymbra would argue with Wolf about their legends and whatnot, I felt like the author showed a slant toward Christianity, though that was more acceptable for me because it was between two characters who had different views.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I recognize that just because I wasn't as much a fan others may like it much more than I did. For more positive review's please check out my bud's Stacia and Leea's reviews.

This is a 2 in 1 novel- Dream of Me and Believe in Me

This review is for Dream of Me

This was a great Viking romance! Dominant hero and a sassy heroine. However, I could not help but compare it to The Bride by Julie Garwood. There were so many similarities including the alpha male hero and a heroine who was initially unwilling to marry and had a gift for healing. They were both really good but I could not give this book 5 stars because I thought the Bride was done much better. I didn't even read Believe in me which is an interconnected standalone because of all the bad reviews.

oohlalaa...is this viking hot or what???

...of course im referring to the simpy de-lish Wolf in Dream of Me. he's just the sort of guy that you'd want to cuddle up to. actually, he reminds me so much of the heroes in julie garwood's historical romances--gruff, dangerous to his enemies, but such a lily-liver when it comes to his wife. and Cymbra is simply adorable. they are perfect for each other.

Dream of Me is such a beautifully written story. There's enough passion, romance, and humor to make it a keeper in your shelf.

Believe in Me is somehow eclipsed by the former story. there were times when i was left wondering where the tender humor has gone. the hero is somehow more subdued and not as compelling as Wolf. i felt too that this follow-up story was written in haste. BUT, all-in-all, it still aint bad. the tumultuous emotional quandary that the heroine feels driven to overcome was wonderfully depicted by Ms. Litton. but, still...rooting for Wolf!!

THIS BOOK IS MAGNIFICENT. I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE HOW WONDERFUL THE BOOK IS. I'M REALLY REALLY ENTRANCE BY WOLF AND HAWK. THEY'RE WONDERFUL. THE both STORIES ARE GREAT. But dream of me did it for me....

I've read this at least 4 times now. The characters, the settings, puts a tiny piece of magic back into romance. Blended with humor, desire, and laughter, Ms. Litton delivers, worthy of a permanent place on my book shelves

I found this at a book exchange and just had to pick it up. Vikings and Saxons! What more can a girl ask for? Great stories, great characters! Love their names, too.

I still love this book every time I read it. I love Wolf and Cymbra. Their relationship was complicated from the beginning. I loved seeing them fall in love. Wolf is just so delish. Cymbra was tough and tenderhearted.

1st Two Books in Viking Saga Worth the Read

Set in the 9th century, this special edition contains books 1 and 2 in Litton’s Viking trilogy, a saga of two Viking lords and one Saxon lord who must make marriages to bring peace between the Norse and King Alfred of Essex and to fight the Danes together. In each case the bride they get comes with a special gift. This latter aspect, to me, made the stories seem less serious, giving them a whimsical feel that is not your classic Viking romance.

DREAM OF ME: 4 and ½ Stars – Well told, entertaining story of a Viking Lord and his Saxon Bride

This first one is a very written Viking story with historical accuracy in the details, the life of the Norse well described and an endearing romance between two strong willed people. I thought it the best of the two and really enjoyed it.

When Wolf Hakonson’s offer of marriage to Saxon Lord Hawk’s sister is rebuffed, he does what any good Viking would—he kidnaps her in the dead of night and forces her to wed him or see her brother dead. Lady Cymbra is a healer with extraordinary sensitivity to people’s pain. She agrees to the marriage to protect her brother and then begins to fall in love with her harsh Viking lord.

Wolf is a worthy leader but not your typical Viking—he’s more of a merchant than your typical pillager. He wants peace with the Saxons and doesn’t plan to spend much time on the wife he had to take to get it. But he is in for a surprise when the beautiful Saxon maid defies him and his desire for her makes him withhold his wrath. She wins the hearts of his people and would turn him into a caring husband. I really liked Wolf and Cymbra together...lots of iron sharpening iron as they find a way to stay together.

BELIEVE IN ME: 4 Stars – More Fantasy in this story of a Saxon Lord and a Norse Maid

After the “perfect” couple of Wolf and Cymbra, it had to be difficult to find another that could hold the reader’s interest as well. So, I think most readers will feel a bit of a let down with this story coming, as it does, right after the first.

Wolf’s brother-in-law, Lord Hawk was not pleased when King Alfred commanded him to take a Saxon bride, especially since it was not a woman of Hawk’s choosing. And now he’s further annoyed that his bride, the Lady Krysta is late in coming to Hawkforte. Instead three of her servants arrive: a man who seems the dwarf, a strange woman named “Raven” and a young pixie like girl to whom Hawk is very attracted. Little does he know but the pixie he favors is Krysta.

Very early on Hawk discovers the ruse and the rest of the story is the couple’s getting to know each other and overcome misunderstandings. And, like Cymbra, she will encounter opposition and women who wanted her man. Oh, and she has some special talents that bring in the fantasy element and are the source of her many insecurities.

Hawkforte is an elaborate dwelling, more like a castle than a Saxon thane’s dwelling, but still made for a nice setting.

The action and the tension between the two slows quite a bit in places but still the story is charming and I can recommend it. Just know it’s not the fast paced Viking action story you might think at first encounter, nor as intriguing as DREAM OF ME. Hawk is a very capable leader but without the stormy side that Wolf had which made him such a compelling Norseman.

The trilogy:

DREAM OF ME (Wolf and Cymbra)
BELIEVE IN ME (Cymbra’s brother, Hawk and Krysta)
COME BACK TO ME (Wolf’s brother, Dragon and Rycca)

Pausing at 50% because that's the end of book 1.

This book was well written. There's no doubt about that. I think the reason it didn't go over any better with me was that it got crushed under the weight of my high expectations.

It is a good Viking Romance. But it's not the Viking equivalent of Outlander which is more of what I was looking for. Alas.

I loved the inclusion of Viking lore. That helped add a touch of credibility to it and as I mentioned in my status update, it was kind of like reading in high def because the descriptions of the places and people are truly quite vivid.

description

The premise of Dream of Me...a bit clueless about that title, if anything book 1 should be called Believe in Me but I haven't read it yet so what do I know?

Anyways...

The premise of Dream of Me is that there's war amongst the Danes, Saxons and Vikings. No one likes each other but the Vikings and Saxons want peace.

description

Wolf, a powerful Viking jarl has extended an offer of marriage to the lovely lady Cymbra whose beauty and charm is fabled throughout all of Europe.
description

His offer is rudely rebuffed and so in anger he decides to steal Cymbra away from her Saxon fortress, Holyhood.

description

Instead of a miserably vain harpy, Wolf encounters a stunning but serene woman that he can only compare to the Viking goddess Frigg. A tenuous and unlikely relationship blossoms.

description

description

The relationship between Wolf and Cymbra was real and rocky. I actually did get bored with Wolf trying to get Cymbra to obey him because it unerringly went like this:

Wolf: Obey me I am both your husband and leader!
Cymbra: No, I'll do what I must to heal *your* people.
Wolf:You disobeyed me now as your leader I must punish you
Cymbra *doesn't get punished*
Wolf: *takes Cymbra back to the crib and ravishes her*

Rinse and repeat.

I'm confused on what more to say about this book and can only compare it to eating a really yummy cake but because you're a baker you know it came from the box and wasn't made from scratch.

description

It's a lovely product but apart from being well written and as historically accurate as far as a layman can tell there wasn't much that set it above the rest.

Blek! "Dream of me" could be summed up with this formula: viking history + historical vocabulary + interesting characters - plot(3) = 0 quality. Uhgggg!!! Because I read the whole thing--- hoping for deliverance. Nope!
Now, "believe in me"... Me believe this book was awful!!! So poorly written that I started just reading the dialogue (three lines every other page) just to finish!!! I felt like i was reading the screen play to a 70's B movie. The dialogue was cliche' and not one of the characters in either book seemed to fit the typical hard core viking. Instead, both leading men are sappy sacks of lame who need sew up their vaginas! The description was that of the hunk of virile testosterone expected in a Viking; the character traits presented were those of Clark Kent. With a cold. After he lost his dog. Just SAD.
To each his own. So for some, this book may be perfect; I found "Little" lacking. Ha ha ha...I'm not sure i even want to tackle the Dragon.

2 books in one - and loved them both! There's a little something more about a couple of the people but nothing very overt. I would recommend this book. I'm planning on reading book #3.

Dream of Me - Wolf kidnaps Cymbra because he thinks she sent an insulting message back to him. Well, she didn't and he realizes that she's actually pretty nice. I loved how she tried to embrace his ways. Very good story.

Believe in Me - Cymbra's brother has been ordered by the King to marry a Norse noblewoman to insure peace. She's afraid he won't love her so she thinks she'll sneak in as a maid and get to know his likes/dislikes. I could have done without the trip to the King, didn't do much for the story. Loved Krysta's friends.

Book #1 Dream of Me Review:

This is my first Viking romance and I really enjoyed it! Somethings were predictable and I felt like I've read similar parts in Highlander Romance novels. For some reason, I also thought it would be more horrific or brutal just b/c I've always pictured Vikings as that. But this book has a gentle heart underneath all the harshness. The loving was nice, there's some angst, stubbornness and pride but all ends well but it just took some time to get there. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

BOOK ONE: DREAM OF ME-----Read Oct. 2010

WHAT A GOOD STORY!! The year 850-900 AD? Norseman Viking kidnaps a Saxon Lady to wed........... :) This story so paralleled one of Julie Garwood's plots that I instantly loved this story. It eventually took on its own unexpected twists to make it different and GOOD in its own way. SO glad I found this author!! Oh yeah,....it's super HOT, too!

BOOK TWO: BELIEVE IN ME----Read Dec. 2010

Very good!!

Highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve copy/pasted both my reviews of these two books below. ⬇️

Dream Of Me Book 1 Review:

Wow! I finally decided to try a Viking book, and man am I glad it was this one! 😍

This story was so different from anything else I’ve read, due to the simple fact that Vikings do things very differently from the Scottish clans etc that I’m more used to reading. So, you have to go into it knowing it’s not going to be the prettiest of lifestyles, however, nor is it so barbaric that it took me out of my feels.

Wolf was awesome. He had a fine line to walk as leader because he could NOT let his love for Cymbra effect how his men saw him as Jarl or it could mean big trouble for him. So I totally understood his dilemma. He balanced it all wonderfully though and all for Cymbra because if not for her, he would still be seeing things in black and white. He allowed her to show him how to be an even more just leader. Because, don’t get me wrong, he was never a horrendous jarl, but she taught him how to loosen the reins a little when it came to his word being law- and especially when it came to her.

I also truly loved how Cymbra also understood all this and was not horrified with the circumstances she was in. She understood Wolf had a role to play and NEVER held it against him.

Their love was just amazing, and all the more so since she started out his captive. This was another thing I was glad she didn’t hold over him or hold a grudge over. It was a misunderstanding that quickly was cleared up, and Cymbra was then able to allow herself to fall in love with not just Wolf, but the whole environment and way of life. Beautiful! 💕

✨Highly recommend!✨

Believe In Me Book 2 Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this little series so much, and I’m so glad I own them! Hawk and Krysta were great together and I loved the dash of the supernatural thrown in. I do recommend starting with book one, because the bad guy is introduced there and since he’s not caught in book one, their story continues in this one. That said, I don’t think you’d be completely lost if you started here, but it just might not be as meaningful in certain areas.

I can’t wait to check out more from this author! Highly recommend!! ❤️

Review for Dream of Me:

4.50-5.0 RATING-
I'm pretty stingy with my five star ratings. A book has to "hit" me just right or be absolutely amazing. Dream of me rated high because it pulled me in from the very beginning and never let go.

One of my favorite set ups in historical romances feature hero's that kidnap or force the heroine to marry, so this started off great for me. I liked both characters and thought the hero was fabulous. Is there anything sexier than a Viking? Not in my book. I loved him! Dangerous, protective, bossy. Check, check, check! The heroine could have gotten on my nerves because it seemed she was always going against everything the hero said but in her defense, she always had good reasons. I loved the development of the romance between the two characters. It read like a true love story. While not overly sexy the steamy bits were well done and appropriate for the story.

One area I wish the author would have developed more is the heroine's special "gift". While there was action in the story I thought another layer could have been added by adding in more about her capabilities and how she was affected. Also, while the heroine's beauty was important to note especially to explain why the hero made certain decisions I did get sick of hearing about it. Just a small gripe really.

I don't read a lot of historical romances but every once in a while am happy to read a good one. This one was better than good and hit all my sweet spots. When I finished, I couldn't help but compare the book overall to another favorite of mine, Maya Bank's Never Seduce a Scot. Overall, a great romantic story. My only disappointment is that the second and third books in the series haven't rated as high with my fellow readers. It seems a travesty to follow this book up with anything less than a stellar story.

Dream of Me - G+ / Believe in Me - G
Josie Litton

Book Two

The drama continues in Believe in Me, when the Saxon Lord Hawk, brother of Cymbra, seeks to strengthen the alliance by wedding a Norse noblewoman. But Lady Krysta arrives bearing many secrets — including her gift for seeing what others cannot. And as an unexpected love ignites, only Krysta can sense the looming danger that threatens the peace — and Hawk as well.

I really enjoyed Dream of Me, it had a few twists and turns, not too many misunderstandings (i think the h did well not to make a big deal when the H was so domineering) with the H and h, lots of steamy moments and protagonists that you can actually admire and root for! I loved the food fight, even though in that time its a little unbelievable they would waste so much food, but its a book and i enjoyed reading about food flying! Oh and there was a cute drunk scene too where Wolf has a little too much to drink!

Believe in Me was terrible, it didn't make sense! In the blurb it says" Lady Krysta arrives bearing many secrets--including her gift for seeing what others cannot" I dont even know what they are talking about! I'm not sure what the go was with Raven and Thorgold! And what was Lady Krysta?? Also i thought the evil half-sister was just stupid, i think the author just couldn't think of anything and just decided to wack it in to add to the word count!

I really loved Dragon, Wolf's brother and wanted to read who he would end up with and how he would handle her considering he is such a ladies man but against marriage unless it was "a meek little woman who would
rub my feet and bear me sons" lol But alas i wont be reading it after the last it completely turned me off.

I really did want to like the second book but couldn't. I give Dream of Me 4 stars and Believe in Me 2 stars.

Dream of me

A dream of a book indeed

Ruthless, hunk of a warrior Wolf actually resembles a wolf with his silver ringed eyes.
Ridiculously beautiful Lady Cymbra such blinding beauty that have men falling over themselves and reduced to mindless lust lol

A fantasy of a romance book, such beautiful perfect heroines it can only be fantasy

But it survived and for that i give it 4.5 stars because this book was steamy and playful yet captured the heart of vikings and norse alike and the wars

The story line was good

The scenes were hilarious and just adorable

Come to think of it, to be at the mercy of barbaric men that without the love and beauty of the woman it would be reduced to terrifying

Nevertheless the gift of lady cymbra was well placed and gave it that extra umph

Believe in Me

Hawke is a pretty hard man, handsome with those sky eyes and broad shoulders

Krysta having hatched a plan which backfired because she wanted to get to know her husband before entering the marriage bed and to find out if Hawke was a good man. Had i been Krysta I would have been the same.

Hawke was difficult in the beginning but he is definitely shaping up to be a great man as it is being revealed bit by bit.

The dialogue between them is good, has humor and serious all the same.

Good read... 3.75 stars

I loved Dream of me more
