MCIT: The Ultimate Guide to Getting Accepted at an Ivy League Graduate Program for Computer Science

Rate this book
The contents of this book are the accumulated knowledge of over half a decade in the admissions consulting industry, with previous clients getting accepted at top schools such as Harvard University, Cornell University, Emory University, and many more. Starting in the fall of 2021, I began helping applicants to the MCIT program at the University of Pennsylvania with their personal statements. What started as merely a side hustle turned into something much greater. I realized that many hardworking individuals dream of switching industries or entering the software engineering realm and see this program at an Ivy League university as their golden ticket, but don't know where to start. This book is thus the amalgamation of all that I have learned throughout my time in admissions consulting in general and consulting for MCIT specifically. In the book, you will learn how to make every aspect of your application as powerful and persuasive as possible, whether that's how you can use MOOCs (free of charge!) to demonstrate your commitment, proficiency, and experience to online learning about programming, or how to write a powerful personal statement. While no admissions consultant on the planet can guarantee with 100% certainty that you will get accepted at any one school, I can assure you that if you read every word in this book, you will have prepared a much better application than if you did it on your own. Why pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a consultant when this book is basically like having a consultant sitting right by your side, guiding you through every step of the process? The book is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the mechanics of the application itself, including what materials you need to prepare and how to prepare them. The second part, and the longest part, goes over how to write an effective personal statement. With so many talented applicants, the personal statement is what will help set you apart, which is why so much care and time went into this part of the book. The third and final part of the book is about the recommendation letters. If you have been tasked with drafting your own recommendation letter on behalf of a professor or supervisor but don't have much experience writing one, this section shows you exactly what you need to do to craft a convincing recommendation letter to help you get into MCIT or any other graduate program you may be applying to. I am very excited for you to begin this journey. I am confident that you will find this book to be of immense value for your application, and I hope that you become my next success story. Without further ado, let's begin!
