Daughter is a memoir-style collection of poems and essays by model and poet Ebonee Davis that form the narrative of what it looked like for a young black woman in America to break generational cycles, begin to heal the trauma that lives in all of our bodies, and embark upon the spiritual awakening that changed her life.
An introspective exploration of growth, healing, forgiveness, and self-love, Ebonee Davis’s debut collection is a must-read for anyone and everyone having a uniquely human experience in an ever-devolving world. Timely, moving, and inspiring, Daughter is a powerful reminder that the journey to true freedom must always begin with the journey within.
In "Daughter,' author Ebonee Davis takes the reader on a journey through her life & experiences as a young black woman. While I was expecting this book to be mostly poems, I was pleasantly surprised to see several essays in this memoir. These beautifully-written pieces allowed readers to get a bird's eye view of the author's influences, environment, and the things that most shaped her life and outlook. Thank you, Ebonee Davis for opening up to us and giving us access to your journey to healing, self-acceptance, and self-love. I appreciate the read and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

While I was definitely hoping for more poetry in this book, everything Ebonee wrote was beautiful. I especially enjoyed the essays at the end about the media and its influence as well as sexuality. Highly recommend this one!
This was a beautiful collection, that will tug at your heart strings. Davis has lived an extraordinary life, and has used her platform to speak out and help others. This book gives us a small peek into that life, with moving poetry and essays that are brimming with emotion. Cannot recommend this enough!
A must read for young Black women - from high school to mid 30s (and beyond). Ebonee takes you on her life journey from a wise, meditative bird’s eye view. The entire book is written from her POV as the higher version of herself. She has been able to access this guiding spirit through shedding the realities that this world has placed on her as a Black woman, and embracing her inner knowing that she is a divine being. We are divine beings. This book provides both affirmation and a beautifully prompted call to heal yourself for the sake of healing our world, our planet, our future. This novel is deeply resonant for any person who wants to live in the light as their authentic self. Ebonee’s sharing of her own life hardships and hard-won spiritual battles are a generous gift, grounding us in our own power to transform. This book will encourage you to care for yourself as a means of transforming the world.
