Blaine never expected to be the chosen of a Goddess. Now that he is, it's up to him and his friends to keep the barrier between worlds from falling and find the final Lamentation before the divine power falls into the wrong hands. But Blaine isn't the only one aware of this power, and the God of Magic's followers will stop at nothing to acquire the Lamentations. Will Blaine succeed in uniting the Lamentations or will his own divine spark be lost to the darkness?
Shattered Hearts is the second book in the Shattered Trilogy, a YA epic fantasy trilogy featuring tropes such as the chosen ones, found family, hidden truths, and unique magical creatures. This series should be read in order. For the first book in this series, see Shattered Souls.
Emily Huffman is the author of The Shattered Trilogy, an epic fantasy series. Before becoming an author, she worked in fraud—but now she leaves stopping the bad guys to her characters. If she’s not writing, you might find her cosplaying at various conventions, playing Dungeons and Dragons, or playing video games/board games!
An awesome addition to the shattered trilogy! Absolutely cannot wait for the next instalment. Blaine continues on his quest to be a hero... Only its not what he thinks it entails. With betrayal, love and consequences he tries to keep Helm at bay, but things only get more complicated for him from there. I highly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone interested in Fantasy.
In book two of The Shattered trilogy, Blaine and his group are back at it again. Braxxton has a vision of Glisenia summong twelve shards on the night of the blood moon, an even that is a week away. They must find and stop her, but there will be challenges they need to overcome before they can get to her.
Shattered Hearts is an exciting, fast-paced book, and kept me entertained for the majority of the book. The characters are investable, each one making us love them the more we read their story. The author did a great job with their world building, making sure the reader could picture this exciting world and the magical system that it has.
There are some places where we get too much detail. While this is great for the world building, the more mundane things that don't add much to the story can be a little less detailed. I felt like after the first few chapters, the story started to get bogged down and it became a little hard to read. Fortunately, the author picked the once back up and continued on strong the last half of the book.
In this sequel, Braxxton has a vision of Glisenia summoning twelve Shards on the night of the blood moon. They have a week to find and stop her. They know what Glisenia’s plans are and how to stop her. They must find the mages and save the 4th Lamentation and God-touched(the Lamentation of Magic) to stop her.
I enjoyed the first book, but I think the sequel was even better! There’s a lot more action, secrets, betrayals, and even a smattering of romance in this one. I was disappointed in one character in this sequel, but I have to say Blaine is a great guy and too good for his own sake and is a very admirable person. I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel and look forward to seeing how Blaine and crew’s story ends in the next book!
I received a free digital copy to read from the author(thank you Emily 🥰) and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
As the sequel to Shattered Souls, Shattered Hearts is aptly named! It has more action and conflict, and I liked seeing the characters use their magic more. The plot gets intense and by the end I was stunned! I'm excited to see what happens in the final book of the trilogy, Shattered Worlds.
I love any story about found family. This is by far an amazing book two that pulls you into each emotion the characters are feeling. The world building is amazing. I would love to travel there on day if it was real
The second book had my on edge the whole time unsure where each turn was going to lead me. It developed my love for each character and made me love to hate some and hate to love others. I look forward to the conclusion in book three!
Such an amazing book!!! Great plot and character development. Such an exciting adventure with magic, friends and love. Very exciting, kept me wanting more and needing to know what happens next, including the ending that leaves you on a heart wrenching cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the third and final book in the series!! Would highly recommend this series.
This is a great sequel. But like with the first book, it took me a little bit to get in to it (that's what you get when you read to much of the same genre back to back 😅)
Definitely recommend that you give this series a try 3.5 ⭐️
Fave Quote: I would choose you. If I could put the fate of the world in anyone’s hands, I would choose you in a heartbeat
Braxxton remains his uncharming self, and I wouldn't have him any other way. I'm excited to see how his budding friendship with Blaine develops in book 3. I also want to see more of the elves' home, and I know there's going to be a lot of drama considering how the main characters left at the start of this book. Instead of Charlie's angels, it's the angel Charlie. We also have talking trees, dragons, and gods, as well as many others, and I really enjoy seeing all the different species mixing. I felt like the flow of the story got disrupted a little between chapters. The start of a new chapter could sometimes be an abrupt change of pace as I was suddenly thrown into a new scene
