- Why is Bucciarati so trusting?
- Please, let there be another reason for the switchroo other than fondling with trish's body.

Well, I didn’t know how Araki was going to pump the brakes once the crew reached the Colosseum, and here’s the neat part: he doesn’t. This train has come off the tracks and is steamrolling to a crazy finish line.

First thoughts - JEAN PIERRE POLNAREFF! LETS GOOOO! Best Frenchman of all time.

Second thoughts - wow, the pace is just crazy. There have been no meaningful breaks in the narrative for two, moving onto three full volumes now. It’s crazy to think that all of this is happening in the same day.

The Arrow and its “Requiem” is awesome. The scale that its power has over the story is huge and its execution is excellent. All of the noncombatant’s being affected by it raises the stakes and makes everything hit a little harder. Such a cool scene playing out with Diavolo still playing in the dark and the crew fighting amongst themselves and their mystified stands. Araki absolutely chops it up when it comes to writing finales.

Speaking of things hitting a little harder - oh, Narancia. Absolute pain. The death’s this part are so quick, there’s no build up to it at all. Abaccio was the same. Not ready for any more. Please, Mista, please 🥹

A 10/10 on this volume again.

I was kinda discouraged when I heard that the last volume would be really short, so that might be the reason I rated it 4/5. The main villain was a brilliant idea, but I feel like we didn’t get enough time to actually get to know him more. Doppio got enough time for us to understand him, but when Diavolo appeared, and then disappeared for half of the volume, I just felt like something was missing. I needed a bit more time for him to feel like THE MAIN VILLAN. Overall, a solid volume. The last volume awaits. Let’s see what happens.

Garbage volume. Part 5 is where JoJo starts to get bad. This is one of the worst so far. The art is terrible. So much of it is incomprehensible. Parts 3 and 4 read smoothly and effortlessly. Not so here. It’s a struggle to decipher the mess of sprawling, twisted figures, inconsequential detail, and poor framing.

None of the characters are likable. (All dull and criminals) Facial expressions are weak. Sameface syndrome. The plotting becomes increasingly convoluted and nonsensical.

The first fight, bucciarati vs secco is a total snooze. Goes on way too long and ends badly, not with a clever resolution, but with some blown out tires and a zipper attack.

SPOILERS

The rest is even more of a mess. We get the return of Polnareff, my favorite character in all JoJo, but it’s an inauspicious cameo, in which he shows up in a wheelchair then promptly dies and turns into a turtle. Narancia also dies and I couldnt care less.

Among the only interesting segments are the vignettes involving random people affected by requiem’s ability. A woman switched with a baby. A man with a girl etc. These parts display some of Araki’s trademark bizarre humor, generally lacking in part 5.

Anyway, plot wise, the boss has 2 souls which are now split — doppio & diavolo. diavolo is planning to get the arrow. Requiem (Polnareff’s evolved stand) is transforming all life forms into creatures? Giorno is back in his body. Bucciarati is in diavolo’s body. Trish and mista switched. We don’t know who diavolo inhabits. The turtle is transforming.

This was an interesting volume with the action taking a bit of a back seat (don't get me wrong there is still plenty of it) to some explanations of the lore and what is going on. I am enjoying learning more about the arrow although I am concerned it's basically going to be used for whatever the author needs it to do rather than sticking to a proper power set.
It was nice to see a returning character in more than a cameo role. It's not who I would have thought they would bring back but it works really well. Having them meet the team has also given the opportunity to refresh the back stories of the characters and explain more about what has happened in the part so far. That said we are still not getting any proper answers about what has happened to Bucciarati. It has taken so long for people to actually realise that something is going on and we only have one volume left to wrap it all up.
The body/soul swapping shenanigans was fun but it's such a shame that they took it in a sexual direction so quickly.

Still didn’t care for the chapters with the final hitmen sent by the boss, but once my guy Pol got reintroduced and Requiem started doing stuff, this got a lot more fun for me tbh. Only one more volume in Part 5 left!

La pelea contra Cioccolata y Secco es la mejor de toda esta saga. Creo que vale la pena leer tanto ripio solo para llegar a ella.

Atp Diavolo doesn't even seem like a proper villain- he's just sort of been wedged in.

But also- HOLY SHIT POLNAREFF‼️‼️
