Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hit man considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby. He’s now living the quiet life as the owner of a neighborhood store, but how long can Sakamoto enjoy his days of retirement before his past catches up to him?!
In the third stage of the JCC transfer test, the participants are divided into multiple teams for a deadly game of “tail tag.” Three applicants, who have skipped the opening stages of the exam because of special endorsements from seasoned assassins, cause a stir with their disturbing styles. Meanwhile, Shin is determined to show Mr. Sakamoto—who just so happens to be an opponent in this round—that he’s made progress!
Hard to really call this volume a flop when it did cover some nice new character introductions and a bit more old JAA backstory but honestly it felt overly dragged out and kind of boring and uneventful at least compared to the previous volumes. I felt like the shows animation of this arc was a lot more smooth and condensed, but actual artwork was still top notch and the addition of those new recommendation applicants I can definitely see playing a more important role in the future, also I love the sakamoto fangirl like that’s just wild.
Still a really enjoyable story, but it has more potential than it is currently reaching. The action is there, but none of the new characters have managed to create a significant impact yet, making the lack of the original supporting cast feel ever more prevalent. A small dip that doesn't soil the overall experience, it remains one of the most fun mangas I've read in recent years.
The entrance exam for the assassination school is still underway, so there's still plenty of over-the-top action as the potential students play a deadly game of tail tag. And X has his henchmen intrude in the proceedings.
I have to say, X, the Slur -- in addition to having the worst name -- is perhaps the most underwhelming villain any manga series has tried to foist on me. It's a good thing I like Sakamoto so much, because his nemesis is a big zero and adds nothing to the story.
I’ve never been as obsessed with a character as I am with Gaku — I /will/ be making him my whole entire personality. This is the best manga I’ve ever read.
Meh, this is just another long fight and it is a boring fight. I liked this Manga because it was just Mr Sakamoto and friends trying to stay out of trouble while running the store. But now it is training montage and dumb hunger games fights to see who goes to assasins school. Fights to the death to join a school is dumb because we see classes that have more students than survived the tests soooo where do those students come from? It can't just be this test is hard. Oh well.
This continues the assassin examinations and it introduces new characters. Too many of them. I didn't care much about them. Maybe except for that Otaku.
Sakamoto, Shin, and their new friends have survived the unplanned airplane crash. Now it's on to the second third part of the JCC entrance exam. A nice game of tail tag... and who are we kidding? This is a group of assassins; it's not going to be that simple, especially not when three new contenders get added to the game.
We got a crazy Sakamoto fangirl, a shy potato with good ears, and a sleepwalking avatar.
Excellent volume showcasing my favorite character, Shin, doing awesome stuff.
So the game becomes basically a grab a flag game of survival, but we have one baddie using his VR set to control a robotic body to kill everyone. It's awesome fights, showcasing Shin as a thinker of just a fighter, and a brutal ending with some hope at the very end. A 4.5 out of 5.
Funniest shit I've ever seen: in Chapter 70, the deer guy says something about his taste in music being hits from the Heisei era; a commenter on MangaPlus said something like "Heisei reference? Kamen Rider?" So there's someone somewhere who is astute enough regarding Japanese media to have gotten into Heisei era Kamen Rider, but who is stupid enough that he doesn't understand what Heisei means, in relation to the reign of a specific emperor. What would Showa or Reiwa mean to this kid? Trick question; I can feel this little shit doesn't know any Rider before Gaim...!
Anyway, I wanted to meme about "People Fight" again, but the stuff with the "remote work" was actually pretty novel.
I was a little thrown by Sakamoto Days introducing an arc in the style of the Hunter exam/the Chunin exams, but fortunately, it's still fun. Still can't believe Suzuki is able to draft such exciting fight sequences on a weekly basis. That bit with the VR fighter was particularly well-done.
I respect Toramaru and how her love for Sakamoto allows her to experience a range of different emotions. That’s how passions and hobbies can change a person’s life ❤️

Damn I love Sakamoto Days so much! And Shin really got the chance to shine in this volume, while Gaku showed that he’s more than just a one trick pony. Toramaru is a fun new character too.
All the fightings were superb, they got me at the edge of my seat all the time, this time the enemy is really powerful, I just want my fav characters survive this battle. My fav is when they teaming up against the enemy. So many action and lots of funny moments and characters and another mystery of Akao. Love this volume, no boring moments from beginning to end.
Sakamoto and Shin are going to school! I love a good entrance exam arc, but I never expected one from Sakamoto Days. And it's REALLY good, too! I will continue recommending this series till I die. And on my gravestone it's going to say "Read Sakamoto Days"
part three of the exam with a cute (insane) flag football moment. the use of technology is crazy in this volume. newfound respect for shin, akira, kaji, and toramaru.
