The Fagin Brothers Gang is terrorizing East Texas, robbing stages, banks, and trains. They kill anyone who gets in their way. The most remarkable thing about the gang is that less than a day after they commit a robbery, they seem to disappear from the face of the earth. Despite extensive searches, no one has ever found their hideout or seen one of the gang members in between their crimes. There are nine of them, each worse than the next man. Butch Fagin, the head of the gang, served as a Union colonel during the Civil War. For the last two years of the conflict, he led a band of raiders whose sole purpose was the harassment and destruction of Southerners, their families, and their property. He runs his gang like he ran his raiders in the war.
Local law enforcement can’t handle the problem, so they request help from the Texas Rangers. Captain Tolliver sends Jake Timber and Silverjack McCall to find and eradicate the gang. It’s going to be a tough assignment for the Rangers, but those two catamounts thrive on action and gunfire. Before this assignment is over, they’re going to get a bellyful of both.
