Orc Rebel #1

Betrayed by the Orc

Rate this book
Taeral Omayra never wanted to be a leader, but her father left her no choice.

Rebellion is brewing outside the village fortifications. There are rumors that the Lord of Sennelin has been cursed by the gods—a new leader must be chosen or destruction will come down upon them all.

One spark of rebellion can light many fires, and Taeral is faced with the possibility that her father might not have a lordship to return to before the winter snows begin to fall.

Tasked with the care of the village while her father is away raiding, will Taeral be able to keep the peace and protect her people against the growing unrest, or will everything come crashing down around her?

Betrayed by the Orc is a dark fantasy romance. It contains dubious situations, mature content, and graphic violence some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.

Could be better

Good start to the series but it felt like it dragged in places, particularly as I couldn't quite see what the tension was being built around. I enjoyed the premise, a switch in the usual roles where the female MC had more power than the male MC. The culture fashioned after Vikings, but very little said of orcs and their culture... perhaps it's for the next book.

The FMC was quite annoying, and I think her lack of insight drove my frustration as the reader, I couldn't grasp anything behind her feelings and frustration. The plot wasn't apparent, but onwards and upwards to the next book.

I dislike her. So much. She was mean to the Zhago (orc), she wanted answers but didn't want to listen to the answers. She is stubborn. She spent a lot of time wanting to kill Zhago then takes him as a slave (still being mean for no reason). She suspected things going on and when someone agreed and wanted to help she was mad. She thought her brothers had something to do with her fathers death but the idea that her brothers will sell her off for an alliance is way out of reach - that will never happen. 😑 I know you arent stupid. I don't understand what the hell she wanted.

truly refreshing point of view from a lord’s daughter who reigned as lord interim until her brothers returned home. she’s a warlord in her own right and that shit was mad sexy.

this was quite literally all exposition plot though. nothing happened that was not expositional. they rutted fully clothed at most. felt like book 1 was split in half and book 2 is likely where the rest of it wound up…
