Gottfried Bermann Fischer (1897 - 1995), was a German publisher. He owned and operated the S. Fischer Verlag, one of the most prestigious publishing houses in the German-speaking world.
After serving as an officer in World War I, Bermann Fischer studied medicine at the universities of Breslau, Freiburg and Munich. In 1924 he met the daughter of publisher Samuel Fischer, Brigitte, and married her in February 1926.
In 1936, Fischer and his family moved from Berlin to Vienna, and thereafter to Stockholm and to the United States. In 1942 in New York he formed the imprint of L.B. Fischer, together with Fritz Landshoff. After the end of the war, he regained control of S. Fischer Verlag in Germany and rebuilt it in Frankfurt. This led to a rift with his editor-in-chief, Peter Suhrkamp, who went on to found his own publishing company, the Suhrkamp Verlag.
