I read this as part of Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection: Volume 2

Oh this was just so fun. Personally, I think you need to read Hex the Halls to fully appreciate this story. You can read it on it's own just fine, but together it's a more complete story.

So although this is technically five stories, it's one long story told from the perspective of some of our favorite characters: Holly ("A Noel Nightmare"), Nick ("Nick's Not So Silent Night"), Scarlet (The Spirits of the Season), Flapjack ("Flapjack the Red-Nosed... Reindeer?") and back to Holly ("Holly's Jolly Christmas").

Each story changes perspective and continues where the last one left off. I think for me the real treat was Nick's story - since it's the first time I've gotten his perspective. Scarlet's story was fun and continues to entice me to read the other Beechwood Harbor series (which I'm pretty sure is from her perspective) and then Flapjack's story was just funny! Flapjack is one of those characters you have to love despite his sour temperament.

I was able to listen to it (and the story on it's own is also now available in audio). Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators and her voices continue to be great. I especially love her voice for Flapjack, it's pretty great. I think the one down is that her voice for Scarlet and Holly is basically the same (because they're both leading ladies of their own series, I think) so it's a little off for that short story. But not enough to make them hard to follow or less enjoyable.

Books and Authors mentioned: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis - The Chronicles of Narnia #1 published order #3 chronologically; A Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles M. Memorable Quotes: As Christmas became more and more commercialized, the magic of Christmas lost some of its potency. Santa required more and more magic and it became a strain to gather enough for the next year. Children are being told that he’s a fairy tale for little kids and as belief dims, so does the magic. On top of that, everything that used to build the magic is being outsourced, so to speak. Not so long ago, people used to window shop under a blanket of twinkling lights and dream about Christmas presents nestled under the tree, they went to the woods as a family to find the perfect tree, they went caroling door to door. Nowadays, kids see commercials on TV and tell their parents what to buy, people shop online, and the presents arrive at their front door already wrapped. Christmas trees are made of plastic! But really, it’s the time. The less time people spend on Christmas and getting into the spirit, the more the magic diminishes. The consequence of a busy, fast-paced, and technology-drenched world.”

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎅🐈🧙🏻‍♀️⛄️🎄
🎁 Hex the Halls 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎁
🛷A Noel Nightmare ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½🛷🦌
🎄Nick’s Not-So-Silent Night ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎄
⛄️The Spirits of the Season ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½⛄️👻
🦌Flapjack the Red-Nosed … Reindeer? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🐈👻🦌
🌿Holly’s Jolly Christmas ⭐️⭐️⭐️🎄🎁

My thoughts: 🔖Page 30 of 141 Chapter Three of Hex the Halls - Well, that's a wrap for now; it's time to make dinner and have family time. This story seems like just the type of cozy I need in my life. I may read this series in the new year.
🎁 Hex the Halls - This story was super cute. It's like Men In Black for the supernatural near Seattle. I'm not sure it will be as good without Christmas but I'm adding Book 1 of the series to my TBR, it is worth a read.
🛷A Noel Nightmare - This story continues where Hex the Halls ends, as was promised in the Forward/Author's Note. It wasn’t as exciting as the first story because there wasn't an action scene, but the suspense increased as the mystery was reprised.
🎄Nick’s Not-So-Silent Night - This was the lull of the book, it wasn't slow it just was cut short, and the fall between rising actions
⛄️The Spirits of the Season - This was interesting but I had to go back as I was confused a few times.
🦌Flapjack the Red-Nosed … Reindeer? - This was both good and bad as I wasn't prepared to read a story narrated by a ghost cat.
🌿Holly’s Jolly Christmas - This was the end of the story so it was just okay.

I think this would have worked better as a novel with chapters instead of short stories as they feel incomplete on their own and the last story got the short straw. As a whole it was a nice story, the mystery doesn't involve murder.

Recommend to others: Yeah, although I think it would have been better if I read the series first.

A Very Beechwood Christmas is a short holiday novella that features the cast of characters from Ms. Garrett’s two Beechwood-centric cozy mystery series. While advertised as “Four Festive Magic Mini Mysteries,” it is really one story in five parts, shared from four different POVs. Each part has a cute name and features a mini-mystery inside the larger mystery, with the exception of the last part, which reads more like an epilogue.

The book shares the story of how Christmas is nearly ruined when the real Santa turns up missing. We follow the gang as they work the case, the tale unfolding via Holly, Nick, Scarlett, and Flapjack (the ghost cat). Fans of the Beechwood series will probably enjoy the tale more than those unfamiliar with the characters, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Overall, I liked the mystery. The story is enjoyable and the premise entertaining. I continue to enjoy the entire cast characters, with the exception of Flapjack, whose grumpy demeanor ruined his POV section of the tale. One thing that annoyed me is the reference to an incident with Santa’s gnomes which apparently occurs prior to the story, but is tied into the overall mystery. I don’t know if this is a separate short or what, but I wish it had been included or fleshed out more.

Narration: As always, the Beechwood Harbor gang is brought to life through the performance of Amanda Ronconi, who has consistently done a wonderful job. Her voices are all well-suited, and she gives paranormals their own fitting voices. However, I notice that as the cast gets larger, some of the characters start sounding similar. In addition, Ms. Ronconi uses the same or nearly similar narrator voices for the different POVs. This made it confusing at times since each POV is told in first person. After starting with Holly’s POV, I kept thinking it was Holly throughout the book, even though the POV changed.

Overall, A Very Beechwood Christmas is a fun holiday short.

My Ratings:
Story: B-
Narration: B/B-

If you read this series, you know by now that if it can go wrong when Holly is around, it will. These 5 connected Christmas stories were fun to read and had all sorts of chaos in them. I loved how Santa Clause was portrayed here, loved how when things looked no so good, they managed to find a way to save Christmas, by working together.

The theme of this collection is saving Christmas, there are 5 stories (chapters) told from 5 different viewpoints – Holly, Nick, Scarlet, Flapjack and Holly.
It is a really cute story in all with some interesting takes on Christmas, Santa, and everything that goes along with them.
It was interesting to see the different viewpoints, thoughts and attitudes between everyone. Flapjack is one annoying cat!
I’m not usually a fan of Christmas stories but this one was great.

Trevligt att få följa boken från flera synvinklar. Alla berättare är några man känner till och gillar. Sen går handlingen framåt med en berättare i taget. Kul att spökkatten fick vara med och berätta på slutet.

Flapjack the red nosed ghost cat .......

A great humorous read. We catch up with all our favourite people right before Christmas. That is if Christmas will actually take place. Santa's missing, his head elf is out cold and they can't get through to SAP. What has happened to Santa? A search leads to his body but he too is out cold. The healers can't find the right antidote and there's a new elf in town. A scheme to get the head elf fired but now the reindeer are out for the count and can't fly. Add in flying horses, a ghost, a need for someone to herd the gnomes as they help Santa. But who?

This is a bit of a confusing listen, I think that to fully understand the dynamics and characters you need to read the larger series. It is made up of four stories that are all connected but told from the perspective of a different character. They are rallying around to save Christmas. Again, I think I was being generous when I rated this one.

Stumbled upon this while looking for some short stories for Xmas season.

The story follows these friends who have to work together to save Christmas after the real Santa turns up missing. We follow Holly, Nick, Scarlett, and Flapjack the ghost cat. It is up to them to solve the mysteries and save Christmas!

This is a collection of short holiday novellas that features characters from the author's other series. These "shorts" all tie into each other to make one bigger story. Honestly it was like five parts just shared in different POVs. It was different and unique.

I haven't read any of these series by this author. Honestly...I only read one book by this author last year. I should read more. I enjoyed that one and I enjoyed this one. This did well as a standalone, but I'm sure I would appreciate it more if I understood these character's backstories a touch more.

The mini mysteries were great and I loved the overall mystery. Everything tied into each other and it was well done. The solutions were a little easy, but still enjoyable at the end of it.

The narrator is a gem. I could listen to her all day. Honestly.....she may be one of my favorite female narrators. She simply brings every story alive.

All-in-all, I did find myself enjoying this collection. I loved how it was all connected and I got to meet a lot of different characters. I'm now curious about reading more and learning about these guys. 4 stars from me.

ONE WORD SUMMARY: Enjoyable

Christmas is on its way and the residents of Beechwood Harbor are getting ready to make merry. But when Santa goes missing, Holly and her friends need to save Christmas before it's too late..

I read the entire Beechwood Harbor series last month but decided to save this one closer to Christmas. And because it's set between books 8 and 9 of Holly's adventures it can be read as a standalone. It was so great to be back in the town of Beechwood with all my favourite characters from both series, and the festive theme really made me smile. I loved the fact that each part of this story is told from a different POV character adding to the story being told, Holly, Nick, Scarlet and of course my feline with no filter Flapjack.

So if your looking for a fun cozy read featuring a missing Santa, mischievous elves and gnomes hyped up on walnuts this is the perfect festive read to get you in the mood for the holidays. Totally recommend 😁

Holly & a Not So Jolly Elf

It's always a joy to visit Beechwood Harbor, even more so for Christmas. These 4 mini-mysteries are linked into one saga. All the inhabitants of the two BH series are involved in saving Christmas from gnomes who become bad guys on chocolate to a literal Ghost Rider in the sky to a disgruntled elf. Oh yes, Flapjack the sarcastic complaining ghost cat of Scarlett, is also a part of saving the day. Talk about a Christmas miracle!
You'll enjoy these charming stories even if you haven't visited Beechwood Harbor. Check out all the novels by Danielle Garrette. They make a nice present to yourself.

It was very cozy collection of the short stories. Four stories where we once again can meet our favourite Beechwood’s characters. Stories are connected, so I would highly recommend to read them in the order from first to last page.

Holly, Adam, Scarlet and her ghost need to safe Christmas. Each of them is giving the best skills, spells and help. Even my favourite grumpy, super sarcastic Flapjack added his paw. His tiny story made me laugh out loud, it was perfect.

If you need something cozy, magical and funny for December, I highly recommend this book. It’s available in audio, so you can walk and listen.

A delightful little Christmas mystery

It was an adventure into the supernatural world for a visit with Santa. I'm definitely intrigued to read more about this group of friends. Each story was from the point of view of a different character, which I found a teeny bit confusing, not knowing who was telling the story right away. They didn't all pick up exactly where the last left off, so I felt like I was missing something jumping from one to another. All-in-all a nice little read. I'm enjoying delving into shorter reads, and think I may make it a Christmas tradition.

I downloaded it for free before Christmas, just got to read it. I enjoyed it. It's really only one story, with parts told by different narrators within the same group.

The real Santa visits Beechwood Harbor, which is a haven for supernatural folks, but for everyone else, he's just another mall employee in a suit with some rented reindeer. Santa is soaking up the Christmas spirit/magic that will power operations for the next year.

It was well-written (so much free stuff is not). I might check out other books in the series.

Super cute

Loved this collection of short stories. Basically one continuation of a story with different 1st person viewpoints as it goes along. Definitely entertaining and even sweet at points. A bit of action and some great fun. I would say that it does follow on the heels of her short story in the CURSES And CANDY CANES compilation and is related. You don't have to read that one but I found it helpful.

Such fun!

In this charming, imaginative, and entertaining Christmas tale multiple viewpoints are used to convey the chaos before Christmas! Berserker gnomes, sibling rivalry, replacement reindeer, absent Santa, and a ghostly bucket list all have a part in the loss of holiday magic. Holly and friends need some serious teamwork to keep the Yuletide bright; fortunately, a welcome cameo and a not-so-welcome feline help to save the day!

Holiday fun and cheer!

Such a fun compilation! Holly and friends get Santa for a week. To keep the magic of Christmas alive Santa goes on tour and Beechwood is his next stop. But weird things start happening and Holly gets sucked in when Santa goes missing. Now the team has to struggle to save Christmas!

I love every chance i get to read about Beechwood Harbor. It was fun to be back with the gang again.

Sweet Christmas mystery

The book is supposed to be 4 mini mysteries but it's actually just 4 different parts of 1 mystery that is threatening Christmas, told by multiple POVs. We are several characters from other books here, and they all take part (in some way or another) in helping Santa deliver Christmas. Even a car ghost has his turn.
Whilst cute, sweet and Christmassy, it wasn't for me (maybe MY mood isn't Christmassy enough for it).

Santa is real

Santa is coming, to spend time collecting Christmas magic.

But trouble follows. First, gnomes hopped up on walnuts destroy the holiday decorations. Then Santa goes missing. The reindeer get sick and replacements are needed. Poor Flapjack, the ghost cat, is recruited as Gnome Wrangler to ride with Santa.

This is a fun set of stories told from different points of view that will tickle your funny bone and touch your heart with chosen family love.

An unconventional Christmas story

This was definitely a new take on a Christmas story. This anthology was one big story but each part featured a different star from the cast. Someone tried to stop Christmas. The Elves got poisoned, the reindeer and Santa were given a sleeping potion. And it's all up to Holly and her magical friends to save the day and help Christmas come to a festive conclusion. Inventive and interesting.

Perfect Holliday Story

I love all the Beechwood stories, but this just became my favorite. The story was something completely different! Being told in several parts, each in another person's voice really added to my enjoyment. I certainly didn't see the end coming at all. I highly recommend this story!

I'm not really up-to-date on any of these series, but, still, found this set of short stories very entertaining. Highly festive. Christmas is saved. Time for cookies (there's always cookies, because the only upside to being a witch is being able to eat all the cookies you want and still be thin?) and cocoa.

Good mystery.

This is a fun read. Five short stories are really a one story. Chapters are different pov's from different characters. Christmas needs saving, and Holly and her friends are going to save it. In one story, gnomes run smoke in Beachwood Harbor. What makes them act like that is funny. If you like Christmas mysteries, I recommend this book.

I read (or rather listened) this book because it was available on Audible Plus Catalog.
But I haven’t read any previous stories, so I didn’t had a chance to get to know any characters and it was confusing to listen to the plot not knowing those little details about the characters.
The book was okay since it was free and got me closer to my year’s reading goal 😅

I'm not sure about this one. I liked the premise, but the format was... weird. I was expecting four separate stories, but these were interconnected and told from different points of view. It was festive enough, but the whole thing felt kind of random and confusing.

Nothing memorable about this one.

A Very Beechwood Christmas

Good read once you got past grammar errors.

The Beechwood Christmas shorts were entertaining and included Scarlet, the ghost whisperer. (Loved that series.)

Now, back to Beechwood and Adam, Nick, Evie, Harmony, and Holly and the next book in the series.
