Detective Cassidy Archer always gets the job done. She just may need to bend the rules to do it.
A single mom with a taste for danger, Cassidy prefers cases that will take her away from drab reality into the dark world of lawlessness. So when she’s assigned to investigate the sudden disappearance of a young woman with little evidence that anything may actually be awry, she isn’t thrilled.
But as Cassidy begins to learn more about Sarah Foster and those closest to her, the case is more intriguing than she thought. Sarah had been renovating her new house---a former school for troubled children---and uncovered some disturbing things left behind in its walls. Had Sarah exposed a secret someone is desperate to keep hidden? Struggling to balance Sarah’s case with her responsibilities as a parent, Cassidy’s personal life becomes intertwined with the case---and soon, Sarah is no longer the only one in danger.
I enjoyed the story quite a bit and although I solved the mystery, it was still fun to keep reading.
From an editorial standpoint, there were several times that the first person vs third person point of view was skewed in the same sentence and found a few sentences missing a word.
Would certainly read more from Sophie Shulman.
My thanks to the author, the publisher(s), and GoodReads for the Giveaway!
I loved the storyline, I was able to solve it, which was fun. I didn't necessarily like all the back and forth time periods, but it also wasn't horrible. I'm just not a fan of jumping around. Definitely would read this author again.
I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. It was a pretty good story, but, there were a few distracting errors when the author switched from third person to first person. I do recommend this book, though.
