They do their best to keep her fed and happy, but Beatrice always demands more. As she burrows deeper and deeper into their lives, the couple faces a horrific What will it cost to exorcise Beatrice forever? Kirsten Greenidge's spine-chilling gothic tale, about a contemporary Black couple haunted by the ghost of a young white girl, deftly explores questions of race, class and the American Dream.
Perfect play for the Halloween season. Loved it. It was creepy AF. The most poignant thing was the pressure the couple felt because the girl was white. I could see most married people having the conversations that the homeowners had, so it rang true and realistic as far as that goes. No spoilers, but Bea got what she deserved. As far as staging this goes, there are some challenges. The set was the biggest challenge, but that could be handled several different ways without a ton of trouble. Disbelief suspenders are powerful.
